Ordered takeaway after receiving a flyer through the door. There was a QR code for online ordering which gave 20% off. After waiting over an hour for our food to arrive we contacted the restaurant who could not see our order on the system. No discount or extras were provided as compensation. Don’t bother with the online system as it does not work properly.

Our dinner was lovely. We tried the auberine katsu curry ramen as well as the mushroom one and they were both delicious! Will definitely come back

Tried to order a takeaway just got the wheel of death no confirmation email, tried to phone them and the landlines which goes through to a Giff Gaff mobile. Sent message in messenger no reply. They have taken the money but am I getting my meal. Total joke looks like I will drive there

Absolute rubbish system ordered online and just get the wheel of death, no update on order try to phone the landlines which just goes to a Giff Gaff answer phone, terrible service the money has been taken but are we getting and food ????

Have been using this takeaway for nigh on 20years. Last few orders have been problematic it seemed because of their app! This time ordered on their website at 5.20 for 6.35 delivery. No confirmation email arrived. When no food by 6.50 I called to be told a problem with printer, I gave the order again and was told 25 mins. 50 minutes later I called to find out where our delivery was, I was abruptly told 2/3 mins before the person hung up. 10 mins later food arrived, did not include free Bombay potato as advertised on the website. Will definitely not be using again.

Such bad customer service the food turned up first time was wrong then sent second lot and still wrong shame really as we good customers not no more tho how can you call these curry's

I have been a regular home delivery customer of this restaurant for many years. The food has always been of a high standard with prompt delivery...apart from an order I placed on Diwali which never came, even though the website was open for orders and taking payment. I placed an early order yesterday evening and was advised it would be delivered by 17.45. I made a call at 1815 to check were my order was..." it will be with you in 5-10 mins". I made another call at 1830 " sorry we have had problems with our printer, do you want me to call the driver?" Our food, which was for a special family dinner eventually arrived at 1845. We live 15 mins from this restaurant. Everything was to the usual high standard apart from the prawn korma which was too sweet and had a handful of "shrimps" in the bottom of a container full of sauce.. at £11, this was abysmal. I will not be ordering from them again.

Agree with the recent reviews my last take away the chicken was tough and tasted cheap I know times are hard but you cannot go with cheap chicken as ruined my meal Will not go back so doesn’t pay in the long run

This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Colchester. I can only imagine that the chefs have changed as this was the worst Indian Meal l have ever had. I ordered a Chicken Vindaloo as l love hot curries. This was more or less just chicken bits in a tomato sauce....very bland with next to no taste and certainly not hot. The sag aloo was bits of cabbage at best with semi cooked onions and melted cheese. I actually threw this dish away. The special fried rice was a soggy mass. The Bombay potatoes were swimming in oil with no spices, no pieces of tomato or anything as it used to be. For over £40 for two meals l can definitely say l shall never be buying from them again. Such a shame as it was a lovely indian restaurant. If l could have given it a minus rating l would have done so. Definitely a restaurant to give a big miss to.

Good food and value but the comfort of the chairs need some serious attention.

Best curry in Colchester! We wouldn't go anywhere else, the sauce is delicious and the naans are cooked to perfection. Superb!

Ordered the chicken tikka boneless, lamb tikka masala, and peshwari naan with pilau rice and it was SO FREAKIN GOOD!! This is my partners favourite place, and my first time trying and it is the absolute BEST I have EVER had! Will be returning often. :)

In the past I've had some excellent meals from Ashiana with mixed results of service when having sat and eaten at the restaurant. Usually the flavour and quality is very good. However having just had a delivery order from them I was completely underwhelmed. The food turned up an hour and half before the due time (which I had set for a reason) and despite being early it was only luke‐warm. I told the delivery driver he was early, and all he could muster was a limp wristed "sorry" as if to imply there was no more care than that. I took delivery of the order as I knew full well the food would have either been left in a van or taken back to sit under heat lamps for another hour. Once I shut the door the driver knocked on it again to ask if I had paid, which if there was any kind of organisation at their end would of known I had paid online. The order was incorrect with the rice being mislabelled and the sauces were more water than sauce with no sign or mango in the mango chutney. The food was once again a mixed bag with some of it being of their usual quality and some just tasting bland. Maybe they will attempt to improve, however until they do I would not recommend. a watery

This used to be a great Indian takeaway. The last two have been awful. Food dripping in oil and oily sauces too. Tough chicken - not what it used to be.

Terrible chicken hard and sauce tasteless paratha was deep fried dripping in oil rice dry onion Bhajis like onion bullets I know good Indian food and this is by far worst I’ve ever eaten we work on railway so 5 of us ordered different food all was bad next day runs toilet every 1hr

Visited this restaurant a few years ago, the food and service was top notch!

We used to love Ashiana and always saw it as the best curry house in town, however the last 2 orders have unfortunately been very poor. I don’t know whether they have had a change in chefs, however my vindaloo dish has become tasteless and nothing but heat. Not to mention it has also become very red in appearance as opposed to its usual brown. We hope that they can bounce back to their best ASAP as no where else in town quite compares to prime Ashiana.

Food is bad and expensive. Korma was weird tasting, rice was awful (how can you get mushroom rice wrong?). Poppadoms were stale with cheap paint like sauce. Tandoori mixed grill tasted like old cheap meat.

We ordered a takeaway from here for a change. I’d eaten here years ago. It had a good reputation. The food arrived quickly and was hit. Portion size is generous. What’s really strange is none of the food had any taste. We had to cover it in salt to eat any of it. It’s just odd. Both of the curries were TOTALLY BLAND. completely devoid of flavour. It’s hard to explain. Just odd.

Decent curry house with great service. Lovely and spicy with some great flavours. Well worth the visit if you are in the mood for spicy Indian cuisine.

The service wasn't great, drinks were ordered then either didn't come of only half of them came. Decor was a bit shabby. Food was pretty tasteless. The Madras was a watery sauce, the saag paneer has cream in it and I'm not sure why! Just not to my taste which was a surprise as reviews are pretty good. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed happy though.

As the rest of my family were working I took my adult son for a curry on his birthday. I booked in advance on line as his birthday is very near to Christmas and I thought the restaurant would be packed with office Christmas parties (it was) and the booking was very easy. We arrived and were ushered to a table near to the front. The food came quick and there was a lot of it - too much as I had over ordered on the starters:). The food was delicious and I would definitely eat here again (or get a take away). It was a bit expensive though (£60+!) but I did order too much and it was a birthday so no problem. One thing to note is that parking directly at the restaurant is very limited so worth looking at alternatives to driving (we walked from about 20 minutes away).

I know some other reviews are good, but if you want authentic Indian food, go elsewhere. The chicken dhansak was awful it tasted strongly of vinegar, the korma was really bland, just creamy but no subtle flavour, the chicken tikka again was really bland and they had obviously run out of paneer, so instead of informing us, they made the sag paneer with cheddar cheese, it came out a gooey mess. Definitely never going back

We eat in rather than get a takeaway. Every time we go we are always impressed by the service and quality of food. The best Indian in Colchester

I've eaten here a number of times over the year and would have recommended it to anyone but no more. Second time in a row that the food has been bland, oily and sweet. Non of the subtle zingy spicing of old. Feels like they have gone for volume and mass production to the loss of quality. The tandoori chicken was the only saving grace.Will not be eating here again.

Ordered takeaway came bang on time, piping hot! Beautiful flavours and chicken was melt in the mouth and such big servings made 2 plentiful meals out of one serving. Ordered because it was one of the closest but now because of quality. Will recommend

Three of us dined at the Ashiana one evening in the week. The poppadoms are freshly made and are to die for. I had a fish curry which was brilliant. I will certainly have another one next time we visit. The food arrives piping hot.

Fed up with our usual Indian takeaway letting us down on flavour and delivery we thought we would venture into the unknown and try this one instead. So glad we did, food was delicious, so tasty, it was piping hot and delivered exactly on time (even though we are sometimes hard to find) will DEF be using this restaurant in future

Dare I say the atmosphere was uninviting and rather strained. The interior was very sterile and plain. As for the meal the meat was as tough as old boots. Would NOT go there again if you paid me. :(

Quite simply the best in the area. Great quality food at a fair price with excellent service and varied menu choices. We have been quite a few times now and it's never anything other than excellent. We wouldn't go anywhere else, highly recommended.

Had a nice meal here last night with my curry club. Everyone enjoyed there meal.i had the mixed starter extremely tasty and a meal in itself. Chicken Madras was also nice and portions plentiful. I am a bit of a coinissisior of curry houses and this rates as one of the best. Will be back for sure.

Went for a curry tonight at Ashiana...my son's suggested restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Great service very tasty food and large size portions...we struggled to eat it all! Parking is challenging..but luckily we were early so parked right outside the door!

Have eaten here for years and I must say I have never had a bad curry! Very nice flavours, friendly chaps and nice restaurant setting. Good selection of beers and wines. Worth a look if you haven’t before!

Hi there, brown girl here. I cook curries at home, and I eat curries. We ordered takeaway, and were really excited because the people seemed really nice. Opened up the food at home and guess what? Saag paneer was mozzarella cheese with watered down creamed spinach, and it was SWEET. Huh? When I ask for saag paneer, I expect paneer! Sheesh! The butter chicken was so bad; lack of flavour and oozing with oil but you could taste the added sugar. Blimey, like they tipped a sack of sugar into the food! It feels offensive to call this "indian food" because it really isn't. So if you're looking for a decent curry, just wait until you drive into London... We ended up having to throw the entire order out, and the residual anger motivated me to make my own at-home "indian takeaway" recipes the next day. I suppose it's a good thing they were so bad - they made me put together a good recipe for both dishes.

This place is amazing there is 29 Indian restaurants in colchester/Essex this one is up there. Amazing authentic curry mixed starter chicken methi, pupudums it's got the lost will be defernatly ordering again

There were 5 of us eating and when it came to the main course all five of us were very disappointed.When the waiter Abdul asked how was our meal we said OK his reply was just OK? and we said yes no better, He then walked off..

This has to be one of the best decorated and most comfortable restaurants. It is a pleasure to be in this place. It is very well laid out for the intimate dinner or for a group of friends. The food is very good and the service is excellent.

Great food, but the restaurant really lacks atmosphere! The strange multi-coloured lighting makes you wonder where you are. But the food makes up for it. Good service and we took home what we didn’t eat

The only downside to Ashiana is having to drive across town and find parking, so we we're really pleased to hear that they'd started delivering.

Enjoyed our meal, good portion sizes. Service good, although the waiter behind the bar kept brushing his hair and using his phone which became quite annoying. A young girl came in and politely asked to use the ladies but he told her it was only for customers, think this was a little mean!Having said this we would still use tthe restaurant again.

Had dinner here recently for the first time. Very friendly man greeted us and showed us to our table. Menu is great. We had starters and mains and were given the option to share starters which we enjoy doing. The food was delicious. We have tried a couple of Indians in Colchester and the surrounding area and this is by far the best. The staff were very friendly and we really enjoyed our evening. Total bill was very cheap for the quality of food and service.Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon with friends.

Moved to the area so took a chance as the rating here was fairly low in Colchester. However food and service was amazing, will 100% be going again and recommend to to visit if your local and looking for a decent curry !

15 colleagues from work and we're celebrating a colleague leaving and a birthday.Having always treated this as the best place in Colchester for a curry we were very disappointed this time. On arrival we were seated on our reserved table and offered drinks. Looking good so far.Once we were all seated the owner came over to take our order. I asked if we could have poppadoms while we chose our mains. NO YOU ORDER IT ALL TOGETHER!!!!!OK so someone has had a bad day. We start to place our order, one of the girls asks if he can come back to her while she checks the menu. NO I AM WAITING FOR YOU!!!!!So we carry on and the food was good. Not excellent just good. However times have changed and the owner who stands on the door greeting customers needs to take a back seat now as he is costing sales. 15 of us will not be back and if we tell 10 people each which is the average (or so I keep being told), then this Indian restaurant will very soon go out of business.

We've been here before but usually do takeaway but on this occasion the wife thought it'd be nice to sit in. For me the food is always nice and have never had a problem with it. We usually do some kind d of meal deal so also happy with the price. The restaurant is ok ..... Nothing says Indian more than the glass panels of the Eiffel tower and pyramids!!!! I personally found the chairs in the booths a bit uncomfortable and there wasnt a lot of room to manoeuvre. Our waiter was friendly, happy and polite but a few of the others do come across a bit grumpy which I'm sure they're not. Disappointed tho on this occasion just for the wait. We weren't planning on a long evening meal however it seemed to take ages for our order to be taken ( after the wife asked ) and then other tables who'd arrived after us were getting their meals before us. Wed sat for over an hour and just finished some poppadoms and bhargis.

Visited this restaurant as my wife had read good reviews and she insisted we go there for a meal . I must say it was nice , spacious, relaxing and kind of a fresh look . The food was great and staff we amazingly friendly , spent a lot of time chatting with them . I think we have kept to too busy talking so not good for management:)Thank you all , it was a lovely evening .Amir

Have been eating at this restaurant for years.The best Indian we have found in Colchester. The Naans are always nice and soft and fluffy not dry and burnt on the bottom.Always exceptional service the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is always cooked beautifully Highly recommend

The Resturant is one of the best for foodAlways hot and plenty of it. The prices are good and the place is very clean.My only issues are the old man that greets you at the door needs to wake up and smile he always seems like we are intruding And if you ask for something he just gives a blank look. When we go out we like a bit of banter a smile someone to talk make the customers feel special and not unwelcome.Maybe it's time in a nice way it's time to put his feet up

Large party of rowdy men, Wednesday night evening meal, staff were efficient, and pleasant and against all odds food was delivered correctly and in good time to all. Delicious and served with a smile. Hats off to Abdul and his team.

We ate here as a family over the Xmas period for the first and last time the staff weren’t overly friendly and the food was average at best they also gave us the impression they couldn’t wait for us to leave so they could close up early personally I wouldn’t bother find somewhere else or get a ready meal.

Went there with a party of 20 to celebrate my husbands birthday. The restaurant was very accommodating, including bringing out the birthday cake, joking with us, and overall we had a great time. They managed to get the courses out with some efficiency and we wern't kept waiting long between courses which is no mean feat with a large party. Lastly the food is always good at the Ashianna and they do a really good deal of 4 courses for 10.99 from Sunday to Thursday, which consists of poppadoms, starter, main with rice or naan and coffee or ice cream (cant be bad).Thank you guys we will be back!

We have eaten at the Ashiana in a regular basis, as a couple and with friends and family including children. The food is the best of its type in Colchester. Whilst the restaurant is not sited in the best area and parking close by can be a challenge, it is certainly worth a visit. The menu is wide-ranging and the favours outstanding. The service is attentive without being intrusive and reasonably fast, even when busy. The food is well presented and hot (in temperature and, if you wish in flavour!). I recommend a visit - you are likely to return!

What can I say this is by far in my opinion the best Indian restaurant and take away in Colchester. The food is delicious and has great flavour. I have tried all sorts of dishes and enjoyed all of them. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. I often get a take away which you have to collect but it is well worth it! Highly recommend if you fancy an Indian in Colchester.

Fresh, proper Indian cuisine. Eat in or take-away you will be pleased. Portion sizes are generous meaning it's all fab value.

We don't eat an Indian meal out too often as we tend to have take always if we fancy this type of food. We dined at Ashiana on a Friday evening and had a starter each followed by a main. We enjoyed our meal and it was good quality. We have had better but you won't be disappointed with what they offer.Nice interior, very clean and good service too.

Got a take away from here nice food I have a smart card and used for 20% off the whole bill but defo didn't get 20% off.....

We went for the first time and chose to eat from the Monday - Thursday 4 course deal.g what excellent value, the portions were very very generous! Good flavours, and a wonderful fluffy nan. Service was excellent even though it was very busy. Decor nice, all very clean. The place was heaving with three large groups, probably teachers we thought! Would definitely go back.

Well organised and lovely food.Had buffet style before at other places and i have to say this was easily the best managed by the servers.They take drink money with each order so no splitting bill at the end hasslewe were in a row in blocks of 8starters were individually served with 3 items plus usual salad etcMain course was 7 dishes served per four, absolutely loads to eat and all lovely!Definately go back!

This is he best Indian restaurant we have eaten in , in Colchester. Very quiet for a Friday evening though. There were 4 of us, we had our daughters friend who doesn't normally eat spicy food, but loved it. We didn't have starters, only popadoms and pickles and 4 main course with 2 rice and 2 breads. With drinks the bill came to £65. Not bad , the food was good and the staff friendly, but did lack a bit of atmosphere for a Friday night.

We came here as we had issues with the 1st place we tried to eat at. The 1st thing my daughter commented on was how clean the place smelled ?? Strange child. Nice table cloths and very friendly staff. We ordered drinks as hubby tried to find parking. Bit of an issue I would think on a busy night. Food ordered and they took into account our food needs and added extra heat to my husbands food. We had 3 main dishes , with 2 rice, and 3 different breads and salad. With drinks it was only £55. Great value, lovely food and nice staff , who saved our night after a very stressful beginning .
