Cosy Ramen and Noodle restaurant that has a small but diverse menu. Food items were presented well and tasted great. The beef in the gyu-don was tender and well flavoured but the star is their dipping sauce. The curry omurice was rich and flavourful with the mushroom rice having a great umami taste. The noodle dishes are well portioned and well presented with enough variety to suit most dietary needs. The staff are welcoming and warm and very accommodating. The decor inside the restaurant is modern and in keeping with the food served. All in all a great eatery. My only comment would be that the sous vide beef gyu don was a little small in portion size and would have benefitted from some side or vegatable accompaniment and the chicken pieces in the omurice are scarce and small in size.

The atmosphere feels absolutely authentic, me and my friend came here and sat at the counter and the food literally has me dreaming about it (no joke) The pork cubes are absolutely divine, even of there's not a massive amount of meat the sauce and the fat are just so decadent. The bowls are exceptionally good, and the rest of their small plates are just absolutely amazing, authentic, tastefully infused and just through and through divine. I cannot recommend this restaraunt enough, and if you find yourself lucky enough to grab a table of an evening, you are well in for a treat, at a very reasonable cost too! The service is excellent, the food even better. Must visit!!

Me and my partner have been here multiple times and tried a range of their dishes which have all been amazing! The service is lovely, friendly and quick! The vibes of the place are great with chill music, an open kitchen and cosy environment. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Authentic east-asian cuisine. Certainly the most flavourful restaraunt inside Colchester.

It was hidden gem for us. Every food was nice and was reasonable price. However I won’t recommend dumplings, even though they said it is homemade, it wasn’t great.

Month after month i come back to this lovely restaraunt! The food is amazing, very personal, very filling and full of flavour. Im on my second round of the menu and see no reason to stop! A must try when visiting Colchester!

Their menu is small but it means all the items on it are of a really high quality. Staff were fantastic and being able to see into the kitchen was a nice touch. Would definitely eat here again but would advise booking as it is very small.

I went there with my bf, the staff was very nice and very welcoming:) the food was delicious and so yummy. Very fresh, I loved the chickens so much for the side dish and enjoyed my Beef Ramen :)

Amazing Asian Fusion restaurant. Always a clean space with a serine atmosphere and fantastically well mannered, attentive and knowledgeable staff. You could blind pick anything off the menu and it will be delicious. Try the TanTan Ramen, Pork Belly Cube or the Pork, Ginger and Leek Gyozas. At this point in time it’s by far the best restaurant in Colchester.

Such a gem in town. Delicious, fresh food at a great price. Our waitress was super sweet. We also loved the atmosphere and the music! Extra points for the cute menu. 10/10

Staff is super super nice. Actual restaurant itself has really nice decor (reminds me a bit of a Japanese Izakaya). I ordered Yakitori and the Hsinking Ramen (but added an egg 😋). Ramen are very delicious and was a big bowl, but the Yakitori was even better. Honestly so happy that this place exists, I thought I'd have to go to London for decent Chinese food 😆

Agree with all the reviews here. The broth for the ramen was delicious and the green tea was good quality. They've opted not to cram in tables which makes it a relaxing place to eat. Highly recommended.

The Ramen was so tasty, and the atmosphere of the restaurant seemed very cosy and authentic. Service was also great. The only thing that would improve it is if they had some more Vegetarian or Vegan options!

Lovely place, food and atmosphere was great. We popped in an hour before to make a table reservation and they gave us a highchair for the toddler in our group. She was also given a pack of wafers by the staff for dessert. I can recommend having a really nice meal here and fully recommend.

Lovely staff looked after us even without a reservation and didn’t laugh too hard at my dining companion’s attempts at using chopsticks to eat soup. Happy to adjust ingredients. The best squid I’ve had in ages. Eclectic music 🎶🦑

Honestly don't know why I've left it so long to give this place the 5 it deserves, been here probably a dozen times now and everything is always on top form. Food, vibe and staff are as good as you could get, my personal number 1 restaurant in Colchester.

Came back here last 6th of Dec and very disappointed with the service that we received. The waiter was very rude and should have a proper training of acceptable customer service. This used to be our favourite place to eat since 2020 but a lot of things changed already. Foods 7/10, atmosphere 9/10 & customer service 2/10.

A gem in Colchester centre, the chef really puts his heart and soul into each dish on his menu and it shows from the first taste every time. The menu is not over populated but kept simple and authentic. The team of three members functions like clockwork, at busier times they could do with a fourth person. The premises is charmingly small so it can be intimate but with the food so good it really deserves a bigger space so more people can try Hsinking signature dishes. One of my faves is the sous vide beef on rice... absolutely devine. Highly recommended, to avoid disappointments booking a table is best.

This restaurant has been on my Colchester to-do list for too long. We arrived at 5pm without a reservation and was luckily accommodated. Atmosphere is cosy and pleasant and staff very friendly and provided excellent customer service. A tight menu serving an exciting range of ramen and additional dishes. Will definitely eat here again soon.

This is the second time I have eaten here. First time I had the duck ramen which was delicious. The second time I had seafood ramen also delicious. I like this place!

Good service and food not bad. However the rice is not Japanese rice and also undercooked.

I went for the first time the other week with a dear friend, who has wanted me to join her for dinner for a long time. I was very excited to order one of their ramen dishes and I choose the seafood one. It was massive and feared I wouldn't finish it but...I shouldn't have doubted the magic of a great tasting dish. We both finished the bowl without a struggle! The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was cosy and 10 out 10 for the food.

Dropped in after long day at work away from home to have something to eat since I’d heard good things about it - decided on minced beef ramen but when I asked for it they said they only have a limited amount and need to keep some for customers who booked a table!? So I wasn’t allowed to order it even though it was available! Truly bizarre/strange. Never heard of eatery’s doing anything like that. So drop ins are second class customers? absolutely shockingly bad customer service in my opinion! Needless to say I left and went somewhere else. Can’t comment on the food since I didn’t have any which is a damn shame since the beef ramen looked GOOD!

Fantastic food and fantastic service!

We had the two meat-free ramen available and they were both delicious! Really good broth and freshly made noodles! It was cooked to perfection and the best ramen we've had! The herbal Japanese tea was really aromatic and good value! Overall 10/10. The waiter was really nice a nd helpful. I will go back again soon.

What a brilliant place!!! I meet a mate there for lunch 1-2 times a month. We have never been disappointed. If you like it hot try the Hell's Beef, but be warned it's proper hot!

Really amazing duck and great tea too

Tasty food, clean area, nice open kitchen, friendly staff and quick service. For a really spicy lover, do try the spicy beef ramen and scotch bonnet chicken wings. The beer wasn’t cold enough though, we prefer a very cold beer with the slightly frozen bits outside the bottle. This more for a ramen or hot noodle lover specially in the cold weather. There were not many table inside, so book a table in advance is always a better solution. No parking outside because it’s located in the Colchester City Centre which you will prefer to park at the parking building and just walk. Overall experience was good and happy and would love to comeback again.

As good as it gets! Amazing hand made, succulent and fresh small plates. Ramen broth as honest and wholesome as you will find in the best noodle houses anywhere you will go. Who needs wagamama when the real deal is waiting for your visit! Top marks from me.

My friend and I recently dined here, and while the food was fantastic and truly authentic, the atmosphere left much to be desired. We noticed the staff laughing and looking at us throughout our meal, which made us uncomfortable. When we asked about it, the waiter claimed it was because we seated ourselves without assistance. While we respect restaurant rules, this shouldn’t justify an uncomfortable experience WHATSOEVER.

We came here last week for lunch and loved it so much, we brought my sister and our kids this week. Atmosphere great, service fantastic and food is something you’ll be craving for days after having it. Absolutely 5 stars!

I have been to this restaurant many times, and whenever I go there, their taste is still the same, which means the taste is always appetizing. Although the restaurant is quite small, with their decorations and music, they made me feel very convenient….Also, they cook in front of you, so you can check how they cook.. Overall, if you are looking for ramen and other Japanese dishes, I absolutely recommend this place… Don’t forget to try their gyoza 🥟!!!

I rarely make reviews! I just thought to put a review just now coz they deserve it. Been here plenty of times and I can say Hsinking is one of our fave go-to resto here in Colchester. We tried loads of asian resto here but this is one of our top. As asian, I definitely recommend you try their ramen! I had suggested this resto to my friends and colleagues of different races and all of them really have good feedbacks! Service is great as well! All staff are friendly and the waiter is very courteous👍 I just hope they expand, have bigger space so that they can accommodate more customers especially during weekends. And just to add, my son loves their prawn tempura! Well done Hsinking! 🥂

Fresh tasty food well presented. Staff are attentive and welcoming, they take note of fine details. It's an intimate venue and they do take bookings in the evening at weekends. If you like good ramen the lake sure you visit.

absolutely loved the food here!! we got tan tan & tonkatsu ramen, pork/ginger/leek gyoza & the roasted red pork belly (which was easily the star of the show). tonkatsu broth was rich & flavorful, and the tan tan was nice & spicy. we showed up ~16 minutes late for our reservation & were graciously still seated (they only have 5 tables), though we were briefly chided at the door. the server was attentive & food came out quickly, as did the bill. we were chided again upon leaving, which left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth-- I understand that there are only 5 tables, so one being booked up & unused for over 15 minutes at dinnertime could be frustrating, but you never know what's happened to cause someone to be late, and we were already scolded for it upon entering, for which we apologized. ultimately, the food was great, but we left a bit frustrated. we take responsibility for being late, but telling off your customer multiple times feels unnecessary.

First visit and will be back. Lunch with a friend. Tge staff so friendly and accommodating, service first class. The food was amazing, flavours delicate and robust. Great experience of of such a wonderful cuisine. We had a selection of small dishes on this occasion, look forward to trying the ramens on next visit. Thank you for looking after us.

My favourite place to eat in Colchester and I will return time and time again. I dream about the duck ramen but the tonkotsu ramen is also delicious. I love the gyozas and the prawn tempuras as sides. The service is always wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I will transport you to Japan.

When hunger strikes, one seeks solace in a steaming bowl of delicious ramen. Alas, the experience I had at this particular establishment was not one I'd wish to relive. The noodles were subpar and the beef and chicken were nothing to write home about, but that is not my main complaint. It was the waiter's stubbornness and arrogance that left a sour taste in my mouth. When I kindly requested a refill of noodles and a bowl of rice, he replied with a condescending tone, boasting of his past experiences and how his establishment did not provide such amenities. Such an attitude is unacceptable, and a clear lack of respect for the customer. To deny such courtesies that are common in most places is one thing, but to do so with such disdain is another. As a patron, I expect to be treated with dignity and respect, and it is unfortunate that such basic human values are lost on the staff of this establishment. The tonkotsu ramen was passable, but the beef noodle and chicken were nothing special. However, it was the poor service that truly tainted my experience. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values customer service and common decency.

Not many tables inside but managed to get a table right away. Yakiniku Donburi was delicious. Will definitely go back for a tasty lunch.

A small family run restaurant selling excellent authentic Japanese food. The service is friendly and fast and food is of a outstanding quality, there are only half a dozen tables and I'm not sure you can book, so it may be a case of taking your chance.

Fantastic ramen, if a little expensive.

Seemed like a really nice place , cosy and inviting . Food was nice and was nice to be able to see them cooking in front of you . My only issue was I do not eat rice or noodles and when asking for my dish without rice , the reaction was a bit off . I just asked for extra veg but received none. I understand that’s what this place is know for but just found it a bit rude this couldn’t be accepted I suppose .

Such a hidden gem. You'll likely need to book as there are only around eight tables total, but once you arrive be ready to have some amazing ramen and experience some top-quality service. It's a relatively small menu but there were about five dishes I wanted to try, so I could see myself coming back again soon.
