The best restaurants in East of England

We had a table of 8 for my 70th Birthday celebrations and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. I was a little apprehensive but as soon as I met Katherine (Owner) prior to our booking i was immediately drawn to the place. In regard to the food everything I ask for came out onto the table the food was amazing it was so delicious. We chose a Meze starter followed by Salmon, Shish Chicken and Lamb Skewers with the most delicious salads and vegetables and flat breads to die for, we also had Gorgeous Pavlova and a very varied Cheese Board for dessert the presentation was lovely, I honestly think Katherine old mke a boiled egg look pretty. Our food was served by Peter who assisted Catherine and he makes a very good Waiter. There was nothing we could fault and we definitely will be returning hopefully in the not too distant future. Best pop-up we have had at one of our events! Excellent communication in the build-up and the team arrived early with plenty of time to prepare. Super friendly team always more than happy to help The food is of a very high standard and presented very well. Fantastic choice of menu. Ostrich burger is out of this world and the brookie desserts were talked about by all guests. Superb value for money and leftovers boxed up to take home. Definitely, be using again!

Great little shop for coffee, cakes, snacks and drinks oh and did I mention cakes and just in case I forgot to mention they do cakes, the best tasting cakes I’ve ever had, my personal favourite is the coffee and walnut.High Ongar is a beautiful quaint quiet little village well worth visiting and stopping at coffee post is a must.

Lovely cafe with friendly staff and delicious food and coffee. Seating inside and outside. Breakfast, brunch and lunch with a healthy emphasis and a bit of effort put in to make the dish special. You can also get sausage/bacon rolls and similar if you like. The cakes looked amazing but I was too full up to try one. Really good vegan and gluten-free options.

My friend and I visited this little gem this morning for a quick coffee, we were so pleasantly surprised how beautifully decorated the coffee shop was, the place was so clean, the owners were so welcoming and kind. We had a taste of their freshly baked banana cake which was divine. I'll be definitely be visiting them more and highly recommend it ❤️.

Went in on a misty damp Tuesday lunch time. Though a little chilly inside, a lovely cafe with such pleasant lady in charge. Our sandwiches were fresh, great bacon and super sausages topped off with a very tasty cuppa x 2. Very reasonably priced and would recommend you try it. Will return sometime, thank you!

Great spot to pick up light bites and tea: coffee/ or even a smoothie on your way to a walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Delicious crepe, really tasty with plenty of filling. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

The lovely couple from the Papas Locas food truck visited us at the Alpheton village hall and I cannot say enough about both the food and the lovely owners of Papas Locas. So many great responses from everyone at the hall and we’d love to have you back! Highly recommend!

This place serves Lovely fresh pizza, love that they do vegan options too! Friendly staff. I would recommend Jammin pizza!

Donna and her team make the best poached eggs on toast in town. The coffee is delicious, with hot milk, and you’re offered a top-up just at the right time. Best of all is the atmosphere, with cherry music playing, the friendly chat and listening ear, and being looked after by lovely, genuine people. Donna is moving on to focus on her catering business ‘Newman’s’ (on Facebook) I wish her luck. She and her team made this the best cafe in town, and made a real difference to Maldon.

Great couples bar - landlady is very friendly does great tricks with beer mats and corkscrew - never seen anything like it

Great restaurant, we didn't go for a while after it opened but so pleased we have now tried it. Wonderful service and food fron this Italian, the chef is from Sicily and has worked at some top London restaurants and you can tell by the quality of the food. Servie is also top quality. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

What a lovely little find. Visiting Colchester from Ipswich with my daughter and wanted a hot drink and a snack. We were wandering around and found this little gem. Small cafe. On sitting down we glanced at other tables and their food and we were tempted to rather than buy a sandwich or toastie we both had cheesy chilli jacket potatoes served with a little bowl of dressed salad and coleslaw. The service was both quick and friendly. The place had a nice relaxing atmosphere and some of the customers seemed to know the staff so it seems like they have returning customers. They also did a nice pot of tea.

Nosotros (grupo de 5 ) tuvimos un tiempo absolutamente brillante! El servicio fue fantástico, muy amable, servicial y atento y la elección de juegos fue increíble. ¡Ya queremos volver de nuevo para probar otros juegos que queríamos jugar pero para los que no tuvimos tiempo! Probamos una selección de diferentes bebidas (cócteles, batidos y cervezas / sidras), así como una gama de aperitivos y todos eran geniales. Genuinamente no puede culpar al lugar. Probamos un lugar de juego diferente recientemente y aunque más grande, el ambiente, las opciones de juego y la comida / bebidas que se ofrecen simplemente no se comparan con lo que se puede obtener aquí. Recomendaría encarecidamente planear una visita larga, hicimos 4 horas y honestamente podría haber jugado por aún más tiempo! 4 horas nos dieron tiempo para elegir un nuevo juego que ninguno de nosotros había jugado antes, aprender las reglas y la configuración y luego disfrutar de la diversión, después de eso jugamos algunos juegos que estábamos más familiarizados con para llenar nuestra última hora más o menos. Visitas más cortas funcionarían muy bien para jugar juegos con los que estés más familiarizado o tengas un juego menos complejo, etc. En general, lugar maravilloso, personal encantador, un montón de opciones de juego y sin duda volveré a visitar!
