The best restaurants in East of England

I must say that I've rarely been so satisfied by a South Indian restaurant here in UK. South Indian restaurants seem to be popping up everywhere these days, and being a fan of South Indian cuisine, particularly Kerala food, I make it a point to visit the most of them. However, no one has captured the real flavor quite like this restaurant. I recently attended an Ona Sadhya at a Malayali association function, where this restaurant provided meals. I was honestly impressed by the quality of the cuisine; it felt exactly like having an Ona Sadhya at home in Kerala. I may not know who you are or where you're from, but this is now my first pick for organizing a party. Kudos to the management!

Varied choice but a little expensive. Good standard.

I can only speak as I find. I thought that the staff were smashing, happy and smiling. I very good atmosphere. The food was very good, and the Guinness was lovely. I will return.

Amazing food, service and vibe!

Lovely hidden quiet spot to enjoy platters of seafood. There are lots of tables and benches inside and out. Great selection of platters and boards to choose from. It was great to enjoy a lazy, tastey afternoon, sitting by the water without feeling rushed.

Food was very low quality and awful. A beefburger that was tasteless and a "chicken" pie with almost no chicken - just a white, gooey paste. Not cheap either. Avoid!

We had a really lovely family dinner here last night, staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. It’s very reasonably priced and excellent quality. Will definitely be coming back for Sunday roasts!

Delicious scone/jam/cream, and deeply tasty coffee. Best cappuccino I have had for some time. Good GF awareness but portions of these, although delicious (plum and apple tart) seemed quite small for not cheap prices.

Haven't been here for at least a couple of years, having had a less than satisfactory meal on our previous visit. We thought we'd try it out again. Very friendly and welcoming service. We had the set meal for 2 and have to say it was excellent. Really tasty, as good as any Indian meal we've had in a while. Very reasonably prices too. If anything, there was too much food, as we struggled to finish everything, and left feeling uncomfortably full! We'll certainly be back soon, but probably choose a little less from the main menu.

My mums favourite place to visit. She 98 and wont go anywhere else in maldon for lunch. She particular likes the toasted sandwiches served with a salad garnish and coleslaw we add the delicious sweet potato fries. Staff are friendly very accommodating as she is in a wheelchair Service is always with a smile great atmosphere highly recommended

This was the best evening out I've had in a long time. The service and vibe was amazing and our waiter (Frank) was superb - he was so knowledgeable about the wine and made great recommendations. The sharing platter was delicious and more than filling enough. Can't rate the place highly enough.

We visited the Kings Head yesterday evening for my birthday. Unfortunately, as it was the new teams first Sunday they had run out of Sunday roast, which was disappointing for our table of 8. We understood it’s very hard to plan for the number of people coming in, when it’s so new to you. However the team worked really hard to ensure we had something and cooked chicken for us along with the roasts and veg so we could still have our planned roast dinner. The veg and roasts were cooked really well, there was barely anything left at the end of the meal. We also had a vegetarian meal, which my step daughter said was delicious! We will definitely be back as the team worked really hard to make sure we were happy with our meals and we like the fact that for an old building it is accessible with plenty of space for wheelchair users.

Catia and the team looked after us very well. We were a table of 31 so well done to the team for being efficient and organised
