I find this place very relaxing. The building obviously has some history, as you might expect given the name over the door, but it has stayed true to its past life by not being overly fussy. A neatly folded serviette would be totally out of place here. Instead, it has an informal and casual feel. That said, I’m not generally a great fan of plastic table cloths, but I accept the practicality they bring. I love the way this place appears small from the outside but stretches over several rooms, indoors and out. It also doubles up as a small scale general store selling anything from kids toys to crafty items, which adds to the village feel. In all, a great asset to the local area.

What a find!!! Having dropped a friend off (at the previous owners of this shop) we were in need of a warm place to enjoy some coffee & cake. We were served by lovely staff who were very welcoming. We ordered our coffees & cakes & sat on a comfy sofa to enjoy them. There is plenty to see in this shop, including gifts & cards. They also had some very interesting books to read on the coffee table. So much so we ordered one for ourselves once we got home. We stayed long enough to have more coffees which we also enjoyed. On the way out we purchased some vegetable rolls to take away. They were absolutely delicious. We will not hesitate to return to this lovely establishment if we are in the vicinity any time in the future.

Wonderful staff helped me out when I turned up just after closing on my bike running short of drink. They topped up my water bottle and then offered me some delicious cake free of charge. Lovely people to be so kind to such a numpty 😀 Have been several times before and the cake and coffee are always amazing. Highly recommended cycling stop off - just check their opening bourse in advance!

We did a circular walk from Streetly End via Balsham. This coffee shop was the perfect place to stop for refreshments. Nice coffee and large bacon and sausage rolls at a good price served by nice staff. On leaving turn immediately right onto the Icknield Way, a lovely walk with views of the surrounding countryside.

The atmosphere was lovely, and the decorations were nice. The menu didn't feel big enough, and lunch options were quite minimal. Baked things like cakes etc. were nice, although the menu often changes every day so you wouldn't be able to order the exact same thing every time you went. The coffee was average, wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special. Overall it is quite a nice cafe, although the food options could be larger.

Visited after Daffodil Festival in nearby Thriplow. We didn't have a booking and they very kindly squeezed us in anyway. The inn is beautifully and tastefully decorated. Lots of little details to spot everywhere including a cartwheel. Fantastic selection of books and games, you could definitely spend an afternoon here relaxing and nibbling. Separate children's menu. Was delighted to get an unexpected and delicious amuse bouche. Roast dinner was best I've had in a while. Huge Yorkshire pudding which had sage and onion in it for a lovely touch. Generous portions and well cooked. Very happy that we could get extra veg or gravy on request! Daughter had pasta she enjoyed and ice cream. I was driving so really enjoyed non alcoholic cocktails. Look forward to returning to try the regular menu. Staff were lovely, service very speedy despite them being incredibly busy! Highly recommended

First time in the area and had a delicious Sunday Roast at a very reasonable price. It was beautifully presented and service excellent. There is a wide selection of good pub food on offer . The building itself needs a bit of tlc but the landlords are doing what village pubs should do . Great atmosphere too .

Came for a meal with a group for a friend's baby shower. Cannot fault the meal, delicious roast, cooked fresh and good portion size. However, the service was somewhat to be desired. I can excuse slow service on a Sunday when demand is high, but when servers/staff are rude, it's not acceptable. We had a waitress come over to our table and as she left she spoke to another waitress and put her fingers to her head (in a gun sign) and laughed, whether or not this was about our table, not professional at all. The lady who took our payment at the bar took the final payment from one of my friends, when my friend queried that there was something on there she hadn't ordered the lady said "that's not my problem." Terrible attitude. Shout-out to the chef though who came out to check everything was ok food wise, he did an amazing job cooking for everyone when the pub was clearly, very busy. Edit due to response: "2 more people added" was 2 children, due to being let down by childcare, the table we were sat at was a bit of a squeeze for 16 adults so we simply asked if we could have 2 extra chairs, for adults and 1 highchair for one of the children as the other one was able to squeeze onto the bench, not a massive ask I would say! I can appreciate things taking longer than anticipated during busy periods however, this was not communicated in any which way when it came to drink orders, in the end 1 drink didn't even turn up and we had to get our own tap water and cups. I can vouch for everyone at the table that we were more than patient, and nothing but polite to your servers, even when they rolled their eyes at us and, as stated in my original review, gestures were made to one another. It's disappointing to be left with a reply which takes little accountability, as stated previously, the food tasted incredible, it was just the way in which we were treated which left us with a sour taste.
