The Mill Coffee Shop in Bedford

We had high hopes for a nice Mother’s Day breakfast, but unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. We waited 30 minutes just to place our order, then were told there would be a 45-minute wait for food. In reality, we ended up waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes. To make matters worse, some of the items we ordered—pancakes and sausages—were unavailable. When the first breakfast finally arrived, it was cold and underwhelming, and by the time the other three dishes came out, it had already been eaten. The most disappointing part was the avocado on toast with bacon, which felt like a complete rip-off at £8.50. The avocado was spread so thinly it might as well have been butter, and the “bacon” was barely a sprinkle—definitely not even a full rasher. Overall, the slow service, missing items, and poor value for money left us extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning for food or recommending it to others.

Visited this morning for brunch with my family!! Such a lovely cosy atmosphere and the service was amazing, we had a delightful waitress who was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Would recommend will return!

Great spot for lunch and a walk. Off the beaten track, but plenty of parking and lots of seating inside and out. Great choice of savoury and sweet treats.

What a lovely cafe. The food was of a high quality with fresh ingredients and hot. The cake was really lovely. Would definitely come back.

I looked at their menu online which said they were open until 4. Drove twenty miles to have one of their amazing sandwiches. Got there at 3:10 and was told told kitchen is closed. I explained that it does not say on their website that kitchen closes at 3 and was offered tea/coffee and cake. Not what I wanted. I'm writing this so they can see my comment and correct the information on their website. I have eaten there before, it is very nice but so disappointed this time. I will be returning again remembering to go earlier.

Quality food, friendly service and beautiful surroundings. Brunch and lunch are delicious, cake and bake offering is way too tempting, with some nice gluten free and vegan options too. Coffee is some of the best I've tasted.

This is a lovely independent place which is ideal for a weekend brunch or lunch in the sun. Ordering is done inside at the till but there’s a good amount of seating outside, with plenty of umbrellas providing shade. The food menu has a decent enough range of items given the size of the place and the service was fast. Portion size was impressive, good quality and tasty sandwiches and it was decent enough value for the setting. It was a shame that they had run out of cheese for the ham & cheese toastie, especially since cheese was still being served with other dishes, but it did give me the opportunity to experience the delicious chicken avo toastie instead! Drinks are all of the same quality as the food and there will be something for all tastes. A lovely asset to the area and a great spot for couples and families alike.

Lovely welcome. Great portion sizes. Really nice people. The food is lovely, including the cakes. Definitely a place we will return to.
