The best restaurants in East Midlands

Once again our visit to The Apron was faultless. Sea bream was superb and Chocolate fondant delicious. The staff efficient and attentive, all in all best meal we’ve had in ages.

Amazing menu,food,staff and chef. Quality and quantity of food was great,really good value for money,along with super service. Can’t wait to return !

Volunteers that run it are very helpful and knowledgeable about the mill. Went for mothers day lunch and food was wonderful. Cafe and shop is good value.

Ordered takeout, order was wrong. Received the wrong dish. If you spend over £24 free beer didn’t get. Collect & you get free onion bhaji didn’t get. Called spoke to 3 different people. Said they would refund, had to give them my address but the lady couldn’t hear me. Gave up & ended the call. Will never go back. The food is edible but nothing special.

My husband planned a surprise birthday meal for me, and it turned out there were ten of us. The rest of the party had pre-ordered their food, they allowed me to choose as soon as I got there. The food and drink service was prompt as always. Delicious meals, plentiful portions and piping hot. Our server Daniel is always polite, friendly and obliging, knowledgeable about the menu. We’ve been here many times and we’ll be coming back again for sure. It’s an intimate little restaurant but perfectly capable of accommodating a large party.

It took a long time for the meal to arrive and when it did, two meals had to go back because they were cold. Not worth the money 😭 Really disappointed.

First time using. Extremely disappointed. Food arrived luke warm and the food had leaked through the carton lids in the box. I would not use again.

Used to be a great cafe with lovely staff but seems it’s now shut even though it’s says it’s open online! Have tried contacting owner by txt (which have done in past) but been ignored! Real shame as was a great place to go and had the only toilets in the arboretum!

We stopped here when travelling back home from a break away. We were served promptly, food was great. Ours boys wanted "Iron Man' soup :-) (red pepper and tomato) which they really enjoyed. Staff friendly. Thanks, we'll be back when back in the area again! Definitely recommend. 👍🏻

Inviting, friendly and elegant. Magpies is fantastic. Friendly service, fantastic food, an extensive and interesting wine list. Their menus are so well thought out. You'll always find something for all tastes. I had Eel for a starter, Rabbit for a main and wonderful Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Every course was on the money. As a non drinking designated driver you are well looked after too with plenty of Alcohol free options. We're booked in for Xmas as we don't want to miss out lol
