Great, old fashioned (in a good way !), comfortable, country pub on the main road from Dronfield through Holmsfield. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good car park. Outdoor seating. Sells Carling so I know my husband will definitely be back. Walked past many times, but never visited before, although it always seems very popular. Dogs seemed to be welcome. Check opening times before visiting .

Fortunately there were spaces left in the car park when we arrived and one table available. It seems really crowded when you go in but it was OK when we sat down. I had the bau bun special for starters and there were two tasty buns stuffed with meat. For main I had the liver and mash special which was great apart from I couldn’t finish the mountain of mash! Good selection of beers including the home brewed ale which was great. On the expensive side for a in but probably on a par with most good pub restaurants around.

Friendly welcome on arrival, helpful guidance on food options. Food arrived promptly, everything was very tasty and hot, my mum said the quiche was the best she had tasted. My steak pie was delicious. Great value for money from starters through to puddings. Highly recommend and we will be back 👍👏🏼👏🏼

A proper cosy local pub, not many of these about any more that haven’t been forced into doing food. Perfect place on a sunny day, and a great covered wooden outdoor seating area has been added since the last time I was there. Nice beer selection and crisps, what else do you need?

Absolutely wonderful cafe, with an unbeatable location right by the scenic fishing lakes and nearby to plenty of local walks. Muddy boots and dogs are welcome, and there is outdoor seating for the warmer months, and plenty of indoor seating with a log fire burning in the colder months. The breakfast is to die for, and the cheese on toast is epic. Don’t expect fancy coffees, but very decent filter coffee, various types of tea, hot chocolate and a wide choice of cold drinks what more could you want?! I also hear that Spring through Autumn they are open on Friday and Saturday evenings and you can bring your own alcohol which would be a lovely way to spend a summers evening. Highly recommend visiting here in the way to or from a walk, where you’ll find a warm welcome and lovely friendly atmosphere. oh and they have a 5 star hygiene rating which is always good to see!

Ordered a mixed grill and a fish pie. Both underwhelming in size compared to price. Especially disappointed with the fish pie and the grand total of 3 prawns and some shavings of salmon and cod all in a very shallow dish. If the meals had each been £5 cheaper it wouldn’t have felt so disappointing. We decided to go elsewhere for dessert and more drinks.
