We had a lunchtime meal at the Peacock at Owler Bar on Saturday 6th April, and it was delicious, as I'm dairy and gluten intolerant I found the staff extremely helpful, friendly and put me at ease whilst dining, we were served by Leona, who was friendly, helpful and very attentive, shall definitely be eating there again.

Been there with my wife and our dog. We found everything for her, bowls, treats and cloth to sleep. Trio Sunday roast was so tender and well made. I probably ate the best yorkshire pudding I have ever eaten in my life. The view from the window is fantastic. The restaurant is fantastic.

Very nice view from the pub. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They cater well for all different kinds of allergies. Can recommend.

Popped in for a quiet drink this evening after a long walk with my husband and have to say was served by a lovely and friendly barman. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family!

Not got my first selection on starter or main meal. Had my second selection on starter and main. Both were really nice and would order them again without hesitation. Staff were excellent both in service and answering my queries. Would recommend the Peacock every time. Nice atmosphere and excellent surroundings.

We had an amazing experience! It’s the second time I come here with my family, this time we booked for Sunday Easter and the meal was marvellous! We were served by Keisha who was lovely and very attentive with us. Thank you for all the service and Happy Easter for all the workers of The Peacock, you guys are awesome!

Wildly overpriced. £7 for garlic mushrooms and genuinely served, 2 small mushrooms. The plate they brought the mayonnaise on was larger.

Very poor service. While there was ample space in the restaurant, the pub manager kept denying us tables as she couldn’t serve our group and said it was against the company policy to serve group of more than 9 people. Even after asking that we can split our tables, she kept saying that you will still be treated as 1 group and cannot be served. If you are a large family, I would never recommend you to go to this place. It’s a complete waste of time and the logic given by the pub team is completely illogical.

Absolutely top service, food was class, especially the roast, absolutely unreal, definitely will be returning, despite a half an hour drive for me!

We popped in for a quick drink and snack for the kids at 2:30pm only to be told that the kitchen was backed up and food for walk ins without a booking wasn’t being offered. There were numerous empty tables available and the pub wasn’t overly busy. We only wanted to order two bowls of chips for the kids but this was declined. We stayed for an hour to have a drink and by the time we left the pub was pretty empty. This is the second time we’ve been to this pub and the service offered was poor. Shouldn’t be offering food if the needs of customers can’t be met. Such a shame as the pub itself is beautiful.

I been last night with family for my dad’s 68 birthday and we live locally so I thought it would have been nice going somewhere local. We been sat down straight away and then completely forgotten. We had our drink after 30min sitting down on the table after having to chase the staff, apparently they had some mixed up with the tickets. I would have understood if the place was packed but they only had 3/4 tables and they had at least 3 people waiting on and nearly everyone was finished too.The table of 2 on the other side apparently been waiting long time as well as they were chasing impatiently their desserts too. We ordered wine, they did not opened properly and they got the cork inside and they still asked if we wanted it, that was hilarious. We had to call the than the waiter 10 minutes later to order our meal. Coming to the food it was good and arrived in reasonable time so I can’t blame the chefs. The other thing we had our small children and obviously they were hungry so waiting all that time did not help. The impression we had is the lack of training on those guys which it seems they never been working in hospitality before which is not really justifiable as someone in charge should be there monitoring the situation on a Friday night . We asked for glass of wine which never arrived (it has been put on the bill and than taken out after my mother notify the team member). We notified the staff about our disappointment but no action have been taken only an apology as nothing happened. We paid the bill in full, over £200. I don’t think I ll be back

Excellent meal. We visited on Mothers Day in the evening. Having had bad experiences at other venues on Mothers Day we were a little apprehensive however our fears were groundless. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. I had the salt n pepper squid which was very good and the bourbon glazed belly pork which was excellent. All rounded off with home made Bakewell tart. Would definitely recommend.

We came here for Mother’s Day lunch earlier today and we were all so impressed ! The food was home made and good portion sizes. We had veggie wellingtons and fish and chips off the set menu and finished with panna cottas. Our waitress was really friendly and accommodating. The other thing we liked about this place was even though it was fully booked it wasn’t loud and you felt like you had your space but equally, it was cosy and ambient. Definitely will be coming back ! Thank you so much, my mum had a lovely day.

My party of five had a wonderful family anniversary celebration and we all enjoyed our meal and experience. A delightful venue and excellent menu selection; very good value.

Called in for late lunch , chose Sharing Platter, bread & Olives . Order was taken promptly, but waited over twenty minutes for food ( not sure if it was time of day with lunch orders ? ). Baked Camembert was tepid , flat breads were dry as sticks , meagre solitary slice of bread was powdery and dried out . Chicken strips were dried out and cold ( with little chicken within ). Did not bring this to the attention of staff , as it was something new we were trying to, and being busy it was not worth the time or effort to mention. Restaurant looked clean and well laid out with open fire , located in The Peak District National Park . Parking was ample and access to the premises was via stairs at the front ( Did not see any wheelchair access ).

Lovely pub we stopped in for a quick drink on the way home from the Peak District. We didn't have time for food but the roast dinners passing us looked amazing. We'll definitely be back to sample those.

Had our Sunday lunch here. Trio of meat, and beef rib on the bone. Fabulous food and the panacotta was delicious.

We always return back to this local pub/restaurant, the location is nice and the building is very old and pretty. However the food and drinks are very expensive, food is always underwhelming, over cooked, dry, cold or clearly microwaved. The drinks are very weak. They would benefit greatly from just cutting down the menu to a normal basic pub menu, i think less fancy is the way to go with this one cause they do struggle to pull it off everytime. Service is also quite slow even when not busy

Had some fantastic food here. Great service and nice touches for your 4 legged friend. A very pleasant surprise and we'll come again. Good prices as well.

Well one star is to much we booked yesterday booked in for 7 for 5 people my daughter wasn't very well so she rang and changed the booking for us to 6 pm .. we have to travel 30 mins to get here 15 mins in to the journey our daughter rang us saying that peacock had rang to say there was a very limited menu. Communication skills shocking we got there and there was not a lot for us to eat now we understand that you can get low on stock but the waitress said that she had been trying to limited walk in service but obs they didn't .. I'm Sure your ment to prioritise your bookings first but not on this occasion.. so walks in thoughout the day have our meals . We didn't even get offered any discount walked out and will never return again it's a shame because we've been going here for a few years s

The food and venue were good, and the table service very good, but it was a strange experience booking a Christmas day meal here - I paid the deposit as expected, then all of a sudden they emailed saying they wanted the full payment 2 days before 11/12 "as clearly stated in the confirmation email" - there was no mention of this deadline in booking confirmation. When I challenged this they said "it's in the T&Cs, see email" ... When I pointed out there was no link to this in the email they (in not the nicest tones I might add) sent me a screenshot of a websites T&C's! I would have cancelled but at this stage everywhere else was booked. And then on Christmas Day when my fellow guests were a bit late a member of staff came over to inform me at what time the table was next needed and that they were "on quick rotation"... I get it, but a bit of a pet hate of mine is to be told the time limit on a table especially when paying these prices (upfront!). So, my overall experience is 3 stars but could have been 4.

Very disappointing. Service was poor throughout. Ordered the house special burger at £17. It was tiny, ample for a kids meal, not for an adult and not for £17. Left hungry.

We booked a table for a party of 4 on the Saturday before Christmas and had an excellent dining experience. We were greeted at the door by Olly who showed us to our table and took our drinks order, even giving a recommendation for the wine. We ordered a variety of starters and mains and each course and meal was delivered timely and efficiently. The food was good quality and the drink prices were reasonable. The venue was warm, the room appropriately lit and the atmosphere congenial, all adding to make it a pleasant and festive evening. We were really pleased with the venue, the meal and the staff and will definitely return.

Came in for a meal on Christmas Eve and ordered a burger, first time it came out the burger bun was so hard you physically couldn’t bite through it so had to send it back, second time the meat was charcoaled to the point where it was too tough to eat and was disgusting. Figured it was pointless to send it back yet again if they can’t get a burger right the first two times. Not to mention the other week I went and ordered the same burger and asked for a few toppings to be removed except it came out with everything on it so again had to be sent back. Seriously who’s running your kitchens if they can’t follow an order and just make a burger that’s at least edible?

The staff gave us the wrong table so had to move tables. Only had 1.5 hours but this wasn't explained when booking on line and this was said just after we had finished eating. Staff did apologise. Felt rushed. Broccoli wasn't cooked and poor portion of carrots. Staff did bring more out. Gravy was runny and tasteless. Ice-cream and sorbet was small portion and staff forgot cookie and sauce which they brought after asking . Would have preferred home made chips. Pies were tasty and good meat . Pleasant decor . Good car park. Staff were attentive.

Always lovely food and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are always friendly. I love it's a lively pub with hood food that we can go too with our dog.

Stopped off here after a hike for some lunch. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who then took us to a nice cosy table, with a log burner. Took our drinks order and gave menus for food, we were given the normal menu and a festive menu. We decided to order two course from the festive menu and they were both delicious, we had the festive burger and couldn't fault it. Nice restaurant, cosy, good feeling, great staff and service. Came in last night (Saturday night) google says they’re open until 11 it was 9:54pm to be told we could have a drink by a nice chap but then some other chap we couldn’t as he was cashing up. No wonder these places are empty and end up going bust when staff decide to close an hour before they’re suppose too. Highly likely won’t return to this pub again now. Was a regular customer also.

Great location, amazing building, very old school and what you expect in the area. Staff are friendly and happy to help The Chef & Brewer aspect of it though, typical chain.. food does not suit the venue at all, burger specials when it’s a lamb shank & hot pot kinda pub. And as for the kids meal… well… I wouldn’t feed my dog that let alone the kids. So yeah couples by the fire after a hike ✔️ kids and meal time ❎ overall… would return…. For a beer 🍺

The restaurant wasnt busy. Service was slow. I had to ask 3 times for some water and had to tell them we were ready to order. We had the Korean chicken which is highlighted on the menu. But didnt have one of the key ingredients. Bit expensive for what was on the plate

First visit after reading reviews, we were all impressed. The staff are friendly, accommodating and efficient and the food was lovely at such a reasonable price. In addition to this, the pub itself was clean and warm with a wonderful view outside. We will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Waited for 30 minutes for drinks to arrive. They never came. Puddings were ordered at the same time as main meals however one was out of stock and it took 10 minutes to have all puddings removed from the bill. Shame as the food was nice. Won't be returning!

We didn’t book we just tried our luck while passing. (4 adults & a toddler) Staff were very accommodating and we got a table straight away. At no point were we told card payments only. I appreciate this was probably just a genuine mistake. But after a lovely meal and great food. The lady told me when i was paying cash that it was card only. I found this quite embarrassing in a busy pub. I only carry cash and never pay card. Eventually the nice lady accepted my the money saying she would have to pay on her card and take my cash. I found this quite sad. Its also very sad to see yours and other places going card only and not accepting cash. A very disappointing end to a nice meal. I appreciate its your business and your policy so your way. Card transactions must cost you a fortune. Id warn others paying cash to avoid this place in the future. All the best.

Disappointing visit for 70th birthday, 12 of us could not sit together even though place was empty. Service was very slow and the wait between courses was long. Unfortunately this has lost them 8 customers along with their families as we will not go back.

I treated a friend for a birthday lunch, the parking was easy, plenty of empty spaces and good access. Entering the restaurant I found it comfortably warm and didn’t wait long to be greeted and seated. We ordered our drinks and made our decisions on our meal choices from the ‘specials’ board, unfortunately we found this misleading as what we thought was a main course (Risotto with green pea, Feta and prawns) was only a starter, I think this should have been made clearer, however we decided to still have it and a portion of chips to go with it. Both the Risotto and chips were delicious, we weren’t disappointed. There was quite a wait from ordering our food to it being served but we didn’t mind that especially as it was so tasty. It was only on ordering desert that we were disappointed as the pleasant waitress told us it would be quite a wait suggesting it would possibly be an hour as the kitchen was so busy. We were very disappointed and decided to leave and have desert and coffee elsewhere. It suggested to me they were short staffed for which I am sorry, otherwise it would have been a perfect lunch. I would go back to the Peacock again as we did enjoy the food we had and hopefully be able to order desert with having to wait too long.

Food great, location great but service very slow.

Met up with old school friends for lunch. Aside from the drinks being a bit pricey & the room being quite hot, we really enjoyed our visit. The staff were very pleasant and polite. One of our group has an intolerance to balsamic vinegar and this was easily sorted. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and have agreed we will definitely return in future and have already recommended to family

The quality of the Sunday roast is excellent. It tastes homemade. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and I really appreciate the very tasty gluten free gravy. I had a gluten free Bakewell tart & custard - it was exceptional. We have covered the cost of a meal for two for several weeks, using Tesco vouchers and will continue to go regularly even when they run out. The Tesco vouchers couldn't be easier to claim and use via an email code.

The Manager was very accommodating as was a busy Sunday lunch service, very attentive.

Very tasty Sunday Lunch. We had the trio of roast meats and I thought the turkey was by far the nicest. I had the gf option and enjoyed the Yorkshire Pudding, plus heavenly gf Bakewell Tart and custard.

Had a lovely lunch with my mum today, staff were very attentive and I was able to order a smaller portion for my mum who is in her 90s. We ordered from the lunchtime menu which offers smaller meals which suits us.

Out with the family for Father’s Day, nice country pub on the outskirts of sheffield and Peak District. We had booked in advance for this cosy hostelry , it was a 3 course meal for £26. We sat down as our friendly waitress took our order, starters I had herb butter fried king prawns with baby potatoes, next trio of roasts including beef, pork and turkey served with a mixture of vegetables, then lastly bakewell tart & custard all of the food was delicious including other persons on our table.

Today, I have been to the peacock for my birthday meal. I was given a lovely bottle of Italian red wine to enjoy my celebration, which was lovely and tasty . We all enjoyed our meals and we will return in the future.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic lunch we had the Peacock following our weekly walk in Derbyshire. Great service by Todd and Jo who really went the extra mile to ensure our experience was good. Great burgers and puddings to die for. Will definitely make sure we come back in the near future.

What a Fabulous experience. We’ve been in here this afternoon, and didn’t book. I had the 7 hour Slow Cooked Rib of Beef Sunday Dinner. Truthfully, the best I have ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection. The bill was very reasonable, Considering the quality of the meal. The Staff were amazing, and extremely hard working. It was a Lovely atmosphere, quite relaxed, but peaceful. I’ll be back very soon. Well done all. 😃

Nice Peak District pub, everything was good in general. Staff were friendly enough but service was a bit slow. Restaurant area was tastefully decorated.

We went for lunch as I had some vouchers to use..The menu looks very impressive and somewhat pricey. I ordered smothered chicken with out the bacon and cheese and my husband decided on Atlantic cod with chips!!! both meals came with very few chips and one of my 2 very small pieces of chicken was totally inedible, my knife could not even cut through the overcooked, wafer thin piece, if the waitress had asked if everything was ok I would have sent it back but as I was very hungry I ate the chips and measly bit of rocket and cucumber salad !!. When she came to collected the plates after we had finished I mentioned how rubbish it was to which she replied “ok I’ll tell the chef “. We waited about 15 mins then I decided to go to the bar and see the barman and explain how unhappy I was, he seemed surprised so obviously my complaint had gone no further, i decided to settle for a free dessert as a way of compensation which I must say was delicious ( Sticky Toffee pudding ) and it filled me up. My overall experience at the Peacock left a lot to be desired.

Sunday Roast but ran out of meat. To have no turkey, pork, or beef left on a Sunday PM is terrible kitchen management.

Dined here on 12th August with a family member and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The staff managed to squeeze us in despite dropping in at a busy time without booking, and I have to say the food was fresh, good quality, and complete with some really lovely twists (we had the rhubarb and custard sundae). Looking forward to coming back again this week with a friend to see what they make of it! (And hopefully having another sundae!)

Good service and lovely food we all enjoyed the food but was a little let down by the Eton mess pancake stack, no fruit and very little meringue which is what a Eton mess is all about. Felt as though it was a little smokey inside the restaurant tonight which left our eyes stinging a little,Other than that all was good and we will still go back again.

Went to this place with family for birthday. Seated in lovely secluded table. Staff was very polite, smiley and attentive. Most of the food was delicious but one. Fish and scallop dish was ok, fish skin was not crispy and scallops were not caramelised at all but maybe because they were tiny so not seen pan very long. Overall though we had a very nice meal. Will be back again.
