Staff introduced themselves and were very attentive and efficient. Both our meals were very tasty and beautifully presented. We enjoy good food and the Peacock didn't disappoint. Interesting combinations of flavours which worked well. Well done, good team work!

Visited today for Sunday Lunch in a group of 8 . Sadly the Lamb was inedible. After mentioning this to the staff I was offered roast pork was was also tough. It does appear as though their using inferior meat. Shame as the starters & desserts were excellent. This is our 3rd time @ this pub / restaurant but after today we definitely will not be back.

Our meal at The Peacock was unfortunately disappointing. The first course and nibbles were very good. But we both had dull and heavy main courses. Sea bass on the menu was with roasted vegetables but I was given only potatoes with an over-fried oily fillet. My husband’s ossobucco was indigestible. We both had indigestion in the night, my husband a bad acid reflux. We are sad as we love the other hotels in the Longbow group, and are regular customers. The Peacock service was excellent, the toilets good, and the ambience friendly and comfortable (if a bit too crowded and busy).

first tine visit, we ordered glazed pork belly, confit duck leg, pie of the day (steak pie), extra portion of triple cooked chips. the steak pie lack of vegetable, it may be the modern trend chefs do not like to cook vegetable. the glazed pork belly was not good, it did not have glazed characteristic. the confit duck need more time to cook, it did not melt in mouth. confit duck did not accompany with potatos or chips, ordered triple cooked chips, when arrived it was fries and soggy. the cooking oil was not fresh and been used for long time. I attached an image of triple cooked chips receipe. please let the chefs read it

We had a fantastic meal at this pub. Our waitress, Amelia, was faultless - really friendly and efficient despite it being a very busy Sunday. The food was delicious, loads of gluten free, veggie and vegan options. We had two children with us and they were very child friendly and I also noticed some dogs there too (ours was at home). Would give this place 10/10 over and over for the experience we had today.

Firstly. If that was the January slow month , your all gonna have to book from February onwards. It was massively busy for lunch. Infact. Only a couple of small tables were free unless you braved the outsides. We were welcomed and were found space as walk ins . Food was excellent. Everything came out looking bistro style, fresh and unpretentious. Staff were proffessional even under huge pressure. Plenty of management on hand pitching in. I can't fault it in any way. Was it perfect. No, but for the amount of people , the quality of the food served and the excellence of the staff. I'd say it was as close as you could expect within human abilities. Locals were very much at home. Dogs were treated well, whims were accounted for. Really. This could have been a top notch place in the lakes except the prices were much more competitive. You have done wonders. I wish you well. You have a bright future. Keep up the hard work. You deserve much success and custom. We will definitely be back.

Four of us went for Saturday lunch. Amelia served us. Very efficient and lovely. Three enjoyed their main meal but one was disappointed. Vegetarian burger was good. Peach crumble was ok, but not amazing. We were sat near the door so had a cold draft every time someone came in/left which wasn't great. Vegetarian selection is very limited (burger, a salad or a cauliflower dish), and so I don't think we will be back until they do a menu refresh - especially as we overheard the table next to us complaining that the salad they ordered was missing half the things that the menu said it contained. In addition, the service didn't match the price point.

We called in lunchtime midweek as we had been many times in the past and always had a good meal, however we did not realise it was no longer a Chef & Brewer. We found that there were no longer a variety of classic dishes to choose from. We opted for the Seabass and the Chicken dishes and found both underwelming as the portions were small and quite bland and both were accompanied with only a small amount of veg and salad. We did by chance notice on the table was a card stating 30% off meals at the moment which was quite fortunate as all the meals were at least 30% more than what you would find in quite a few pubs in the area so taking all this into account we will definitely not be returning and would not recommend to others as everything seems very expensive for what you get. We both commented that this was the first time we can remember having had a pub meal that we left the establishment feeling hungry

Went for Sunday lunch . We had to wait nearly 45 minutes for our table, people were coming in after us and being taken to tables including the private area as an overspill We ordered our food then the waitress came back and said there was only 1 beef left. We said we’d have that then she said there was none left That annoyed me having waited so long for our table, I wouldn’t expect at 2.15 for Sunday lunch to run out I then opted for chicken supreme and again After a very long wait, it arrived and I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was a chicken wing or the smallest chicken breast I’ve ever seen in my life with no supreme sauce I complained to the waitress who said sorry and brought me another piece of chicken which was again the size of a chicken wing The food was very poor and we were very disappointed with the quality of it On a positive note The staff were super lovely and very apologetic but I certainly won’t recommend it to anyone We were going to go to the Cheshire Cheese in Hope and we all wish we had

After a 40 minute journey we arrived only to be abruptly told the pub had changed owners and no longer accepted the gift card (zero apology), a wasted afternoon for a family who very rarely gets a day off together. The owners need to liaise with the voucher website so others don't get duped into wasting a rare family day out.

The pub has been given a new lease of life by new owners @longbowvenues . This pub is a beautiful old building every bit as lovely as their other Venues. You are welcomed by friendly service, a roaring fire and beautiful cosy interior. 🍽️The food is of course wonderful and ever reliable as at all longbow Venues. We were spoilt for choice by their broad menu but tried a mixed meat sharer starter which was super tasty 😋. Mains were a wonderful beef and red wine pie, stuffed to the brim with large steak pieces- they really are the best here! We also tried the lamb shank Rogan josh which was a fantastic winter warmer with lamb that just fell apart - beautiful. 🍰The dessert menu is also impressive, and we chose Bakewell tart, and a Minni pavlova - the perfect way to finish a meal. 🍷We also loved the wine, and tried their house white and an incredible dessert wine to finish the meal. 🌱Almost everything on the menu is gluten free , and there are plenty of vegan options here too! There is something for everyone. 💸We highly recommend calling by soon to take advantage of their opening deal of 30% off -

We visited on November 1st, 2024, and sadly, it was quite a disappointment. While the bar staff did their best, the kitchen service was very underwhelming. By 6:30 PM, they had already run out of the special main menu on the board! The food took a long time to arrive, and when it finally did, it was subpar. The steak & ale pie was more air than a hot air balloon and hardly had any meat. The crust was burnt and tasted like a heated-up frozen pie. The chips were clearly shop-bought oven chips. This was not the level of service we had experienced before. We left feeling quite disappointed. It seems the place is being sold, and I hope the new owners can bring back some quality!

Following the review below, we returned for another meal as their usual standard is excellent. We were not disappointed. Everything was cooked to perfection. The gressingham duck pie was amazing. We are so happy we returned. We ordered off the main menu this lunchtime as we had an offer. Usually we order off the lunch time menu and have never been disappointed. This afternoon it would have cost twice as much and was extremely disappointing. The lemon and thyme hassleback potatoes were bland and not crispy. I would be surprised if they weren't cooked earlier and warmed up. The vegetables were tasteless, and the sea bass was ok at best. The pork in apricot sauce didn't taste of apricot, the charred leeks were chewy and not charred. I did tell the staff when they enquired if everything was ok that I would never order it again and that it was extremely bland. He said he was sorry. I've recommended this place to loads of people, but would have been embarrassed if they'd come today.

Tried an evening meal as a treat here on a midweek evening in September. Although the online booking system appeared to allow bookings upto 11pm, the restaurant was very quiet by the time we left at 9.15pm. Staff were friendly but too busy with other customers to be aware of and ready to welcome guests on arrival. We waited over 30 minutes for our main course order to arrive. Food portions were rather begrudging in size, especially given the premium pricing for this pub chain. The halibut was quite small in size and the pork belly was served as rather overcooked and almost unrecognisable slices rather than a traditional "square". Alcohol prices are again, "premium" - e.g. £6.25 for a pint of lager. My recommendation - Register for Chef & Brewer's pub offers to make a visit here more affordable and the meal sizes slightly more forgiveable.

We have eaten here for a number of years. Last year it went seriously downhill food wise including causing food poisoning in my sister. My daughter and I heard it had changed hands and had upped it's game - we weren't disappointed. In fact, we were astounded. The menu is more select but with dishes with a twist (try the Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie). We both had amazing meals that elicited mmmms and aaaaaahs from us as we ate. Combined with an excellent glass of Marlborough Sauvignon we have no words to express how we felt on finishing our meals. However, I hadn't finished yet. I took Matt's advice on dessert and plumped for the Vanilla Slice - I couldn't have guessed what would arrive, three layers of puff pastry filled with ?Creme Anglais and chopped strawberries accompanied with white chocolate ice cream and raspberry coulis. We are still talking about the food 3 days later and have booked a table for when my poor unfortunate sister arrives back in the UK next week. Our thanks to Matt and Cez - amazing serving staff who were friendly, professional and willing to give recommendations and advice. But biggest thanks have got to go to the chef - WOW, what an experience - you are amazing. Thanks to everyone at the Peacock - your haven't just upped your game it is now stratospheric. We ended up stranded here with a broken down car. We went in and had a drink whilst waiting for the AA, the manager was so friendly and reassuring after finding me at the bar, child in tow nearly in tears!! Lovely clean pub, great atmosphere. Had a drink (will be coming back for food another time!)

I had a great experience at The Peacock. 3 courses for 19.50 and every course was really good. Service was great and food was delivered in a timely manner. The views are lovely atop Owler Bar and I would absolutely recommend it here.

Booked Sunday lunch as we know we are going to get a lovely meal and it didn’t disappoint… We had the Roast Turkey dinner… superb. Cooked well, really tasty and well presented. One of our party had the Lamb Shank Shepherds pie, she said the lamb was really tender. Afterwords, we had the small pudding with a drink. I had Sherry trifle - a beautiful little cup of trifle with a topping of double cream on top… so tasty! Add onto that, the lovely attentive staff and you have a wonderful combination. We were served by Keisha, a really friendly lady who does the Peacock proud with her enthusiasm. Always a pleasure going here and well worth the drive.

We trusted online reviews and weren‘t disappointed. We were well looked after during our spontaneous diner at the Peacock by Jess and Tod. They served great and healthy kids options. And our kids cleared their plates. We loved the slow cooked lamb and the mushroom pie and the desserts. They also had a thoughtful corner with dog treats and dog blankets. We would definitely recommend!

Very good lunchtime spent with my family at this lovely pub. Two of us had the cheese toasties, which was 'lovely but a very large portion', one had the fishcakes and I had a vegetarian option with pea puree, coronation chickpeas, and halloumi which was DELICIOUS. The service was first class no complaints whatsoever - highly recommended.

This is a very friendly pub with a good atmosphere and very helpful staff. Very well organised. We had a big issue with the steak for one of our meals but they dealt with it very well. Leona looked after us well.

My husband and i have been to the Peacock a few times and are always struck by the friendly and helpful service and great food. Today we shared a Camembert and a garlic mushrooms to start, the Camembert in particular was excellent with lovely sides. I had the pork belly which was very well cooked with flavoursome mash and gravy, but would have benefited from a little more sweetness. My husband had the signature burger which was incredible! Our server Matt was attentive and friendly, checked in on us at appropriate intervals and made sure that we were happy throughout. Thank you for your excellent service, great drinks and lovely food.

Great service by Ashley but hardly any food left on the menu so very limited choice especially GF choices. Burger came in 2 slices of bread (surely you can buy in GF burger buns) otherwise was a tasty burger... Staff were lovely though

We arrived and the place was super busy with a party going on in the front rooms. We were greeted and seated by a lovely lady and waited on by macy. We did encounter communication with other staff and all were really friendly and lovely. Service was quick and efficient and all staff were hard at work after a busy Sunday. This was our first visit but will return in the future. Thanks everyone!
