Think we chose a tres busy day for our Birthday celebrations - only two of us for lunch - arrived 15 minutes before table time which we knew would mean sitting at the bar with drinks BUT the ladies on the table reserved would not leave until their taxi arrived - no complaint from us made (just wait and read on).... We sat down, ordered our meals about 45 minutes after our reservation time - still no complaint, but food arrived another 40 minutes later - no complaint - it was busy, with tables of multiple occupancy Other users of the bar area were asking if they could perch on our table since there were no other seats available - it was a reluctant OK since we HAD reserved the table, but still no complaining.... Food was lovely and good portions - so much that we could not take dessert 😃 ....time came to pay our bill and a Customer Complaint discount applied - I guess it was Discretionary by the Server but noted well ....was it a disappointing experience ? Yes ....has it stopped us from going back ? No - but maybe go an hour either side of our reservation time

The tenants at this establishment own a property on the road I have lived on for 30 years, they have rented it out to people who have no idea how to live respectfully.. I have repeatedly contacted the landlady of the Bridge Inn with regards to her tenants behaviour, in short she couldn't care less, in truth she has actively encouraged their antagonistic behaviour The house she owns is falling apart so I dread to think what her kitchen looks like in an establishment that serves food! The very next time her tenants harass me on my way to work, the police will be called!

We were attended to almost immediately by the man at the bar who was very polite and showed us to our table ,the bar area was neat and tidy and appeared well stocked. It was nice to be able to order from our table from the menu and to set up a tab for our meal. Food was fairly prompt arriving , and although the evening was brisk with only a few empty tables the 2 members of waiting staff appeared to cope well and were attentive and professional . I had the sea bass which was cooked beautifully and mum had Hunters Chicken schnitzel which she enjoyed . Food was hot and plates were warm and in decent portions. The surroundings have had a refurb since I last visited and are bright and airy with tables comfortably apart , decent lighting and pleasant decor. Toilets ( ladies) were satisfactory clean and well supplied with toilet paper and display and hand lotion and doors that had working locks . All in all a very pleasant evening and we will be back again .

We attended at 5pm for a family birthday celebration and mothers day, there were 9 of us and I'd paid £90 deposit up front. Total bill £331.23. Drinks were warm and had no ice in them. We were told there was no Tia Maria for mums espresso martini and no alcohol free berries and cherries. When staff offered to use an alternative for the cocktail we agreed but it came and looked like a latte and had no flavour. When ordering food we were told there was no lamb rump or lemon tart which was on the 3 course mothers day menu. A human hair was found on the chips and the veg that came with the roasts were hard and under cooked. The beer was flat and warm. Camembert was just stuffed into a white loaf and only a tiny pot of onion chutney. Finally, the sweet had sprigs aka half a mint plant just sticking out of which ever sweet you picked! When paying the bill the deposit wasn't deducted, then an incorrect amount was taken off a payment card £110 to when questioned we were told the refund would take a week to 10 days to go back into the account. But instead of just deducting what had already been taken (and refunded) they then took another £80 which was the correct amount. We rarely go out as a family and this experience totally ruined the night.

Very inattentive staff. When seated, it took so long for someone to come to the table I was about to go to the bar myself. Wish I had since when the order was taken for drinks, the wrong bottle of wine was brought to the table. This was resolved quickly however. Then though we had to actually go and ask someone for menus after not getting them after 20 minutes of being seated. The starter was disappointingly small (prawn cocktail) for saying it was almost £8. I am talking about the prawn content, not the wedge of bread or salad. Main courses were OK and had we visited on a 30% off mains day, I would be OK with them but overpriced normally for what they are and the quality of them. Dessert (apple crumble) was again very small and over microwaved. I asked for another glass of wine, again my name and the same as the bottle we had, and again the wrong wine was brought to the table, so I had to go to the bar and get that changed again. Before we ate we were talking about coming as a family of 10 for Christmas, it is a treat my Dad likes to do for his family. He was talking about trying the Bridge this year but by the end of the meal he changed his mind and decided not to. Won't be rushing back. And not surprised that for a Saturday night the place was half empty!

Often dine here. It's usually busy and speed & quality of service is good - today was a sunny day, people on terrace. But I've seen it much busier - the service was poor and slow beyond belief - no one at bar. Took +-20 minutes to find someone to tell us our booked table # and take drinks order - took an hour seated to get our food order. Which was not up to usual standard. Fish over cooked, chips undercooked - wait staff seemed not to care

First visit to Bridge Inn and we loved it. We were passing through after visiting Kedleston Hall (also recommended) and called for dinner. Lovely location alongside the river and I can imagine lovely to sit out when it's warmer. Large pub with a specific dining room however we took a table in the pub which was just as nice with dining tables. Nice traditional pub with nice views overlooking the river. The menu is typical pub food and when our Scampi and Ham hock pie arrived they were nicely presented, hot and tasty. Pedigree ales and selection of other beers and wines etc. We will definitely call again when we are in the area.

Shame on you Marstons if you can’t do better than the poor quality meal had today, glad I wasn’t paying full price for such poor quality. Chunky tripple cooked (frozen) chips were colourless, floury and bland. Chicken chnitzell was I suspect only half of a chicken breast (not butterfly) coated and fried? Was dry and hard to eat. Lasagne looked very un appetising in size and colour. 3rd diner had sausage n mash which he said was ok. Sorry but you need to look at the poster by the ladies toilet and take note. Won’t be visiting again. Didn’t stay for pudding . Only good bit were the pints of Inch’s Orchard Cider.

I'm not sure this pub deserves more than 4 stars. The service is friendly and efficient, the toilets were basic clean toilets, plenty of car parking including blue badge parking (no EV charging points that I could see). Alas the food and drink is where the place loses the extra star. The food is no better than chain pub food, (freezer to fryer, boil in the bag). In order to get 5 stars I would expect to see more local beers on tap, less deep fried food on the menu, (every dish seems to be a plate of something brown and deep fried) and an exceptional wine list. The Sunday lunch is piled high and served cheaply. A rare beef offering on a Sunday would be good. Perhaps the Yorkshire puddings could be a little less crispy and a bit more fluffy. IMO size doesn't count when it comes to yorkies.

Visited today. Food was good, staff friendly but I was appalled when my partner paid £12 for a glass of Malbec! That's more than London prices, it's only an ordinary eating pub after all. Admittedly I didn't look at the wine list but I presumed it would be a house wine. I think it should have been pointed out on the list to check if that's the one I wanted. All one can do is pay up and look happy but I'll be voting with my feet and avoid going there again. Sue

Had previously written a fantastic review about this pub only a year ago, however it has gone massively downhill. While the food was nice and cooked well, the portion sizes are now quite small (very few chips, no coleslaw/salad with burgers, small steak, dribble of custard.) One meal order was incorrect (not the fault of the server, who repeated the correct order). The pudding also came with a different flavour ice cream than which was on the menu. Allergens were not taken seriously/passed off as "it should be ok." Prices have also gone up but quality has gone down. The worst thing however was the service. The staff have always been amazing there but tonight they couldn't care less. We tried multiple times to put drink orders through. We tried 4 times to ask for the bill, of which 2 members of staff walked off and away from us with no reply. I asked to use the baby change facilities (whilst holding a baby) - I was told they needed to escort me to unlock the door because people steal the keys. When the server dropped a key, I let him know, his reply was 'yeah, I know' and carried on walking. Used to love this pub but shall not be returning in future. We visited The Greyhound at Higham (same chain) recently as well and had a much better experience - staff and food quality/quantity.

Given a table straight away even though we hadn't booked, they said not a problem at all. Our order was taken within minutes as it was table service, which is nice when they're right on it. The presentation and the quality of food was delicious. A little above average on price, but somewhere a little special to go. Right by the River Derwent too. Highly recommend a visit, if you want something a little more special. Was also asked if we had any allergies or dietary requirements, which you don't get everywhere.

The staff were lovely and friendly but once the food was ordered we were kind of left to our own devices. I think the least we would expect is for someone to ask if we wanted another drink during the meal or even how the meal was. The service we was fantastic from the young lady who took out food order to the guys who brought our drinks over. My wife is a coeliac and the staff were all on the ball with this. The food was very good amd the atmosphere was pleasant. Will be going again felt very welcome.

The food is slightly expensive for what is served but it was good quality, the service & waitress was very good the atmosphere was comfortable but a little noisy but to expected as it was quite busy. The waitress was efficient & friendly, on the whole the visit was a good experience

This place seems to have gone downhill. The venue itself is lovely, next to the river (although you couldn't see the river because the bushes were so overgrown!) The food wasn't up to much. The starters came out fine but when the main came we had no cutlery, so had to ask for some. The waiter handed it over with his hands all over them and then I had to ask for a steak knife. The steak was tough and chewy. The staff were friendly but looked scruffy in just t shirts, jeans and trainers. They would look so much more professional in a uniform of some sort. I wouldn't recommend it for food unfortunately. Too pricey for the standard of food.

Upon booking we thought the menu sounded good and were looking forward to coming. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The quality of the food wasn’t nice especially for such expensive prices. They claim the meat is locally sourced but my beef was chewy and gristly and the food was luke warm like it had been left on the side, I could’ve made better roasties myself they were bland and dry. The other parties also had issues with their food. We told a member of staff & were offered a free round of drinks which we politely declined as we were almost ready to leave and upon paying nothing was deducted from the bill (which would’ve been courteous of them to do so given the issues). Wouldn’t return which is a shame. As others have said, it was much better quality when it was Chef & Brewer. Maybe don’t buy ‘The White Company’ hand soap and lower your prices a little?… and serve better quality food.

A recommendation to me from someone local after moving to the area, a very good find. I had mussels to start with then fish and chips. Its also got a kids play area and plenty of grass for them to run around.

Wow what an amazing stay. My wife, our toddler and myself stayed here for a few nights and had the most amazing time. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. The outdoor space was perfect and the views simply breathtaking. So peaceful and relaxing. The pub has lovely food and very good ale! All of the staff were really nice and made us all feel very welcome and fantastic with our little boy. I would recommend this place to anyone. 5 stars doesn’t do it justice. We will be back for sure!
