been for dinner today , I had the hunters chicken , was a great experience, the food and the service was amazing! We will be back :)

We come here regularly and have never had a bad experience. The staff are always brilliant, they have a great choice of drinks, and the food is always amazing. I think we have a great time here because we don't pretend to be food critics or Internet influencers like some of the reviewers. Get over yourselves, put your phones away, and talk to the people you've come out with. If you hate them so much that you feel you have to become a keyboard warrior when you get home to justify going out in the first place....then you should either get new friends, or stay at home and be miserable. Anyway, if this review means you come to the pub and enjoy yourself, then that's great. If it upsets you, then you should probably do that staying at home thing. Happy to help.

Been coming here over the past year and got to say definitely one of our go to places to eat staff very attentive food fantastic service amazing from start to Finnish every time. We was here for Sunday lunch and wow even tho the pub was packed all we can we say it was brilliant.The dinner was hot and fresh with all the trimmings. Kids loved their dinner clean plates all around. Well done to all the staff we will be back….

Come here every couple of weeks for Sunday lunch and it’s perfect everytime, always get a trio and never leave hungry! Staff are always polite and friendly

Lovely food beautifully presented and our waitress, Sophie, took care of us and nothing was too much trouble. Our friends who had never been before, were very impressed. The chicken and chorizo kebab is particularly delicious.

This was a last minute Wednesday night decision to go for dinner. We moved to the area only three weeks ago and drove past daily. As soon we we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome and friendly demeanour. Shown to a lovely large table with comfy chairs. Had a very relaxed, warm and country pub feels but with a modern twist. Didn’t feel dated, or dark and gloomy like lots of pubs. It was clean, no sticky tables or dirty menus. Food was fresh, hot and yummy with good delivery. All staff were super friendly and chatty. A lovely experience and will go back and make this our local .

Lovely delicious food and service

It’s been 2-3yrs since out last visit…. This time it was Myself and my 3 children (13,9&8) and my parents, all of which have bottomless stomachs and eat adult portions….. all plates were cleared including desserts….. a trophy is deserved as everyone of us still haven’t eaten 19hrs later. The food was amazing, Mixed Grill was huge, Cod was more like a whale, steak cooked to perfection, lasagne and the Mac&cheese very tasty, and the desserts were heaven. Thank you for making us welcome and very comfortable, we will return 🩷

Not been here for many years. Nice food & friendly staff. Keep coming back. Can't recommend this place enough. Have visited now several times over the last few months & each time we get brilliant service & food quality is excellent. We first visited when my mum was in hospital, we had a call to return to the hospital & the staff could not have been more helpful & so kind to us & especially my Dad. We will never forget it. Absolutely brilliant place!!!!

First time we'd been back to the Greyhound in a while. The food was lovely, the staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive, the place was spotless clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. Had the steak and ale pie which was delicious, and my mum had scampi (also delicious) and both were piping hot. We shared the cherry and apple crumble with custard which was a yummy end to a fabulous meal. Will definitely be going back soon. NGCI menu for reference in my pictures. Last minute booking for a family birthday! Food was amazing! Got exactly what we asked for with special requests and the service was amazing! Such a welcoming and friendly pub! Already looking to book again

The food is without a doubt the nicest in and around Derbyshire, absolutely ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The service was outstanding too. 11 of us went for my son’s 21st lunch and every meal was outstanding.

Popped in on the off chance for a evening meal (party of 8 and our pup) after a nice walk around ogston reservoir. Warm atmosphere, staff couldnt do enough, food was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the chicken & chorizo kebabs, fish & chips and signature burger. Even had blankets and dog treats/water bowl for our pup..... Will definitely be back!

Visited here last night for the band. Absolutely fantastic, the music was absolute class. Everything about my visit was massively pleasing. The food was amazing, I had the sea bass and my partner had the lasagne. Cooked to perfection. The service was very prompt and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Went here for a psychic night and food. We both ordered a sirloin steak medium-rare. Our steaks came out and were very rare-almost blue, they were very fatty and hard to chew. would come back for an event but wouldn't choose to eat here again.

A return visit to The Greyhound and service has been impeccable. The manager and the staff are very helpful and there is nothing the wouldn't do to make your visit a memorable one. Will be visiting again soon.

I visited tonight for a meal with my family and we all had different meals and everyone of the 7 of us truely rated our food, thank you to all the staff from kitchen, bar, servers and management. Will highly recommend your venue.

We visited last year and the kitchen had ran out of most things and ended up disappointed with a burger. We went as a family yesterday and the food was amazing! There was 6 of us and none of us left anything on our plates it was so nice! The only downside was we didn’t have enough room to sample the dessert menu! Lol. The staff were really friendly and the service was quick. The inside looks amazing, there’s also a great beer garden and slightly tucked away downstairs is a playground for the children! Fantastic! We will be visiting again soon, we were told the Sunday lunch was amazing so we will return for that too :) thank you team Greyhound! You made our experience a great one!

Spotted this place on one of our random drives around Derbyshire – looks lovely from outside and wasn’t disappointed when we popped in. Really clean, nice décor, lots of places to sit and spacious so you don’t feel a part of the table next to you. Lovely low beams, great to enhance the traditional feel of the place, not so good if you’re over 6ft (I did bang my head on one beam). Nice outdoor space, looks like a great place to have a few beers on a sunny evening, and dropping down behind the outdoor area are steps down to a fully equipped kids play area. Ordered a burger and soup. Thought both were delicious. Burger was on the small side for a £15 burger. It was one of the better burgers I’ve had anywhere, but it did not fill me. Won’t be marking the place down on that though, but would like a bigger portion if I was to visit again.

The food and staff were great, and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.

Despite mixed reviews we thought we would give the Greyhound a try as we were in the neighbourhood and in need of some lunch. Though a little tired decor wise, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were seated promptly and drinks were soon on the way. The food did take a little longer to arrive but was hot and tasty. A slight billing error was dealt with without any undue fuss. All in all, a very pleasant lunch.

Best trio of roasts ive had In a very long time! Food was fast and piping hot. Very friendly and helpful staff, relaxed evening. Will definitely be returning and recommending!

First time we have visited the Greyhound and will definitely be back. How lovely is it to have staff that are smiling when they take your orders and a Manager that was very helpful and obliging. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for a mid afternoon Scooby snack. Very welcoming and polite staff. We both had the BLT with a soft drink. Tasty food in a nice clean pub. Nice way to spend an hour. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Your menu, comfortable seating and easy access met all the needs of my 95 year old father. The sunday roast was excellent and my husband commented on how nicely presented it was. The service was quick which was needed as we needed to be in Belper for a family meet. We wil definitely be back.

Went here about a year ago and wasn't that impressed. Went today and omg ! It was so different ! Much better food and portion sizes, the atmosphere was so much better as people were in there! The staff were great last time and they were again today. Lovely and clean. We will be going regularly as it was lovely. It's just a shame it's a drive away as I'd love to go in the evening and sit in the garden.

We have been tonight for food & the music quiz & cannot fault anything. The food, drinks & atmosphere was just how a local pub should be. Considering this was probably one of the busiest nights I have experienced at the Greyhound (30% off & the quiz) all the staff deserve a special mention for how well they coped & how hard they worked. They were all exceptional.

Was a bit dubious about going back after we went a few years ago as the food was not good...thought we'd try again and wasn't disappointed at all, everything was perfect the food was beautiful and the service 10/10 so will definitely going back ,all the staff we met were very good at what they were doing,o and the 30% off helped too, thank you.😁

Just got in after having a lunch using a 30% off voucher. My husband's meal was good but my sirloin steak was extremely chewy, difficult to cut with a lot of inedible meat. After eating about a quarter I swapped it to my husband who was able to eat most of it but agreed it was extremely tough.  Not a good solution at all as he will eat anything...... We sat outside and no-one approached us to see if all was well. We complained to the manager who said it wasn't the first complaint about the standard of steaks.  Upon paying he discounted 30%, the same as our voucher! On querying the discount he said instead he would knock off 50% of the steak price. This came in more expensive so we went back to the first offer. The only bonus was that we could use the voucher until 7th July. No good as we're away on holiday on Saturday. Disapointed with the outcome, keep well away from the steaks here!! Out of interest we have eaten here many times and this is the first bad meal we've experienced.  We will go back but for other meals.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. It was great to be able to take our dog in with us as so hot outside. The food was delicious and arrived in a respectable time. Was surprised at the cost, haven't been to a Marston's for a few years, but realise everything has gone up in price. Will go back when next in the area.

We have been a number of times for food and drinks. Food is really tasty and good value. Excellent customer service. Attended again today to celebrate a family birthday. Staff are so pleasant and helpful. Would recommend pub to others. Also dog friendly and has a large car park. Thank you again for an excellent service.

Lovely staff was looked after by a lady called Emily who was amazing, nothing never to much to ask ⭐️

We booked our table for 6.30pm, we arrived on time and was taken to our table, a waitress took us to our table and asked if she could get us some drinks, so we ordered our drinks which took 15mins to arrive after I asked if they had forgotten about us. We ordered our food, again after 30 minutes I asked if they had forgotten us, in total we had been waiting 50 minutes.( we should have left before this length of time). When the food did arrive it was very disappointing, I ordered the chicken curry when it arrived I could have poured it onto my plate it was so runny, so I told the waitress to take it back and she did & offered me something else from the menu I chose the scampi. When my meal finally arrived it’s now 1hr 15 minutes since we ordered. obviously the rest of the party had already finished. I gave it a rating of 2 because the front of house staff were very good and polite. I don’t think the kitchen cared about the meals they were preparing even after all the time it took to get it to us. I will think twice before going there again. A very disappointed family

Well what's not to like about the Greyhound . Good food in an idyllic little setting of Old Higham. Cosy nooks and great to take the kids as there a little park attached. Dogs welcome too. Great that there's money off at the moment too, . Staff always have a smile for you ,shout out to Emily and Sophie

Filthy seats , torn cardboard menus and plastic in the watermelon and feta salad . Not a pleasant experience , after complaining about the plastic in the food , the waitress returned the same plate minus the plastic . Poor quality salad , plain and uninteresting , despite nice description on the menu. No form of compensation offered . Others in our party had reasonable food and an average experience .service was ok . Won’t be eating there again . Shame really as the place looks so nice on the website .

Lovely meal and got 30% of mains. Did think the desserts where overpriced for what we got. But as it was my birthday treat meal with a good friend we did buy two. Otherwise we would of left without having one.

Very good quality food, good atmosphere with pleasant staff. No parsnips with the roasts (similar experience at a fellow Marston's establishment in Derby), but was not informed about this.

We arrived to a very friendly, smiling member of staff, we were shown to our table and when the waitress came over to ask for our drinks order, we had visitors fro Canada and because they were not aware of our different ales they bought over a small swig so they could try - this resulted in making them feel really special and also ended up with plenty of pints to be ordered.

When I worked at Somercotes a friend and I used to meet regular for the rotisserie food , After the refurb the chain introduced a new more expensive menu so it became more of a special treat for us rather than a regular meet up for tea place. Although its more expensive than most pub menus we have never had a bad meal here so despite I'm now working a lot further away we do meet here occasionally Last night we had a 30% off mains voucher so we made the effort to travel and it was worth it we both had the kebabs and they were amazing but at £15.95 each for just the main course its not something we can afford to do regular

Such an amazing atmosphere to be in, the service was wonderful. The food was absolutely beautiful, will definitely be back! It was also lovely to see them raising awareness and money towards prostate cancer charity.

Good atmosphere and relaxing. Pleasant staff. Had roast meal. Tasty meats, vegetables and gravy. Would have preferred roast potatoes to be roasted as were partly like boiled potatoes. Plenty of parking spaces. Had a little wait to get our bill. Would recommend. Meal only came with small amount of gravy but staff did bring more out on request.

Came here for a late Sunday lunch with friends and family. Our waitress, Emily, was fantastic; she was very friendly and really ‘got’ our sense of humour. Great choice of food, something for everyone’s taste from a Sunday roast to lighter bites. The food was delicious - clean plates all round! Will definitely return when we are in the area again.

Came for a meal with my teenage son and partner. Lovely smiles and wonderful service from when we walked in. Very friendly staff, which is the main reason we returned. The food was good but not magnificent. We would definitely return for the rate of service alone. Looking forward to future visits.

Spent a lovley Friday afternoon having a late lunch/early dinner here. Good food, top service. Nice place with well kept facilities.

Our family of 17, a mix of adults and kids, had a great evening at The Greyhound. The friendly staff provided excellent service, and the delicious food was enjoyed by all. The family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a kids play area, made our experience truly memorable. I highly recommend The Greyhound for a meal that caters for both adults and children alike.

This was our 6th wedding anniversary, and whilst the food was ok, the vegetable selection tasted slightly raw. On a good note, the beef melted in your mouth. Oh, one of the staff must have worked for Mr Whippy as my Guinness resembled a 99 ice cream, something that was corrected by another member of staff.

Was a pleasure to find such a lovely little pub with a range of good options for my colieac wife. Very pleasant little beer garden, which was much needed in the heat today

This was perfect for a 3 generation family lunch on Bank Holiday Monday. The pub is beautiful and spacious. Our table was nicely in the corner. The menu was extensive and varied and we all easily found something we wanted to eat. The drinks and food arrived quickly. The food was beautifully presented and all delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient. Thank you very much for having us!

The Greyhound is a nice little pub in a nice location. The food is nice but sadly nothing special. The steak was overcooked and the chips slightly undercooked. Standard pub grub. Nice friendly atmosphere.

What a fabulous meal, one of the best Sunday Dinners I've eaten in a pub/restaurant for a long time. Delicious! The baked cheesecake dessert wasn't so tasty, but still a good end to the meal. The staff were friendly, as attentive as needed, and worth every penny of their salary (and the tip we left). We're now looking to book for Christmas.
