Absolutely fantastic pub , a true hidden gem. The food choices here are fantastic, but down to earth. It's real food you really want to eat , in a cosy environment. Be sure to order something from their insanely good cheese board menu - so many options ! We loved their stew in a fresh crusty bread loaf, nachos , fish fingers sarnies and small plates too - you can't go wrong ! 10/10

Friendly welcome on arrival, helpful guidance on food options. Food arrived promptly, everything was very tasty and hot, my mum said the quiche was the best she had tasted. My steak pie was delicious. Great value for money from starters through to puddings. Highly recommend and we will be back 👍👏🏼👏🏼

Beautiful pub amazing food. Great home cooked food and an awesome cheese selection. We had the bangers and mash special served in a giant Yorkshire pudding. All the food was freshly cooked, great quality and nicely presented. The staff were lovely and the pub is dog friendly. Good beer and lager selection. Will definitely be going again. Great value food. They don’t really advertise but that’s good for us locals as we don’t want it to be overrun! Excellent all round thanks guys x

Nice pub in the countryside. Good range of ales and lagers. Food looks nice but not eaten there. Nice beer garden. Update: Ordered some chips they were very tasty. Pint of blonde and a good size portion of chips came to £7.85 which seems pretty good in this day and age.

Absolutely terrible service! The bar staff were so rude and unhelpful we asked for food and were told we had to order from the bar which is fine they then left our plates on the table for the foreseeable Definitely treat regulars different as one man shouted from his table to get another drink she did so for him took his money and change back! In a service industry you think that they would treat new customers or everyone in general the same we will never go back after trying to complain all we got was I’m not talking to you things are out of my hands the most rude experience ever! And they young woman was called Beth! Hopefully she’ll treat people better next time

Called in yesterday evening with family, wife son and girlfriend and sat in top corner. We had nachos lovely flavour and three cheeseboards, one with pork pie. The size of the tasty cheeses and huge variety was great. I am not a lover of pork pie but that one was exceptional and had no jelly when washed down with pickle and a pint of Erdinger, plus wine later. The portion size are huge even for two 18 stone men, we were beaten, so we asked if we could take the remaining cheeses home which we were able too. The service and welcome upon arrival and during our stay was exceptional. Overall summary great staff, lovely setting, super quality and value food and drinks. We will be back and highly recommend this establishment. Thank you.

Lovely Pub - but terrible customer service 1 hour 15mins wait from ordering to then be served by a very curt waitress who slammed the food down on the table presumably because we had asked how much longer it would be before we were served. The pub was busy but grossly understaffed - a barmaid who was rushed off her feet and just one other person was manager/waitress/cook combined. She was totally overwhelmed and made her feelings know to customers. Lasagna was so liquid it was difficult to eat with a knife and fork. No dressing on the salad as per the menu. Cold garlic bread. Fish and chip meal was acceptable as was the steak pie - quite edible but nothing special. Our dining companions had eaten here before and enjoyed previous meals they were very disappointed as they had recommend it to us. We stated our concerns when leaving but rather than an apology we were met with rudeness and attitude. We were refunded the price of one of the Lasagna meals. We will not be returning because the manageress was so unpleasant and had zero customer service skills.

We where staying about a mile away at The George and The Dragon, which does not serve food. A lovely walk through some fields to this gem was a highlight of our evening. We booked a table over the phone that evening. We arrived early but that was no issue and we had a lovely seat in the cute garden. The food was fabulous, we had the steak pies and ribs. Service was good, a little slow as a hot busy day, but worth the wait. The staff very helpful. Food is served from 12-8 but if you have prebooked you can order after 8pm. So we shared a yummy chocolate brownie and ice cream. A few other tables had the cheese board. These looked epic. A good range of foods and drinks. A great atmosphere. Dog friendly and a very pleasant evening. I would highly recommend.

We hadn't been to the Royal Oak for years and so decided to pop in on Sunday lunchtime. Fully expected there to be a roast lunch on the menu, but sadly not. The menu is unusual and it looks as though the pies have been bought in. There is a very good and generous cheese menu. but I had the boule with beef stew, both the bread and the stew were nice, but would have been happier if they'd been served separately - seemed to me like a waste of a good loaf! The young staff were very pleasant and attentive. We will return and try the cheese platters, which looked very interesting.

This is a nice looking pub in a delightful part of the world but the management seem to be relying on this. If you haven't got a coffee machine (which is rare in a place that you have to drive to in 2021), don't serve up a powdered drink as "Americano": it tasted of hot dishwater and still had a scum on the surface 30 mins later. The mushroom soup was thin, probably canned, and overpriced. The teabags and hot water were fine. I can't comment on the beer and array of deep-fried snacks but I won't be back in a hurry to find out. The service was with a smile and the joke was on us.

We were so impressed after our first visit when we sat outside in the lovely beer garden, that we went back again a few days later, unfortunately they don't serve food on a Monday, but we decided to stay anyway as the landlady was so welcoming and offered to make us a ploughman's, she doesn't like anyone 'to leave disappointed' I think this will become a regular stop for us and will be the deciding factor when we sign up for cricket next year. Great selection of cheese, the menu looks good, lovely sharing boards with loads of choice. They seem to cater for every appetite. Even dogs can get an ice-cream!

Popped into for a lunch run for the fam and I was delighted to see they had vegan options so I could get fed too! 😁 A vegan sausage bap or a vegan brekkie! They also do chips but I’m not sure if they’re vegan or not.. the rest of the menu is huge though! And free parking right outside. Will definitely return for brekkie with my partner :) Just need some vegan cake for dessert please!
