Great, old fashioned (in a good way !), comfortable, country pub on the main road from Dronfield through Holmsfield. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good car park. Outdoor seating. Sells Carling so I know my husband will definitely be back. Walked past many times, but never visited before, although it always seems very popular. Dogs seemed to be welcome. Check opening times before visiting .

I visited on a weekend when they had an outdoor display on and a pork roast stand by Mossvally fine meats

Good selection of beers. Very pricey. Not somewhere to take your mates but ok for a quiet pint

Cracking pub and a belting pint of Theakston Best. Sat in the beer garden, were served promptly and pleasantly. A bit of idyllic England on a summer's day. The more often I go the more I love this pub! Traditional cosy feel inside and great outdoor seating areas. They always have good cask beers on.

Cannot comment on food as this is a public house not a restaurant but the service and atmosphere are very good.

Lovely little pub with a great selection of cask beers including Timothy Taylors Landlord, Wainwright and Farmers Blonde. Will definitely be returning. Plenty of space for outdoor seating.

No atmosphere at all. You can hear everyone else's conversations, which leads to no communication as you might yourself be overheard

A proper local pub! We were staying in the village for a few days and went to the Rutland for a few Friday drinks! It's a proper pub, friendly locals and staff. Really nice atmosphere, where 1 pint turned into 4! A nice touch that the landlord was offering everyone fresh pork pie! Would definitely recommend this place!

Lovely traditional village pub on the edge of the Peak District

Always a warm welcome, great beers, fantastic pork scratchings, warm place in the winter, just like a pub should be and with the fantastic and stylish new log cabin outside, plenty of space even on chilly evenings.

The car park was a very good place to replace the tube. Not been in for years but it was on years ago 🤷

We were well looked after, attentive table service even though we were sitting in the garden. Contactless payment or cash made it easy..the pint of Wainwright was so good that I had to have another one.

Nice pint and cheerful landlord (? bearded gent) who was v. helpful with local info.

Really great local pub. First time visiting since it reopened and had a lovely warm welcome from Gary and Lucy. We sat in the new wooden hut which is an amazing space! Fantastic service and everything was really well organised. Great drinks as always. Glad to see it back open.

It's small and cosy. Very local orientated.

Excellent. I can't fault it. Gary and his staff are so welcoming and friendly nothing is too much trouble. My friends and I go mostly on Monday evenings for the quiz night. Great fun and the Sandwiches and pork pie afterwards are amazing.

A lovely pub with a friendly homely atmosphere. Their pie and peas is so delicious. Coffee with a slice of Tiffin so yummy. Just can't beat this place. I've been coming for years and never been disappointed. Newspapers to hand. Staff lovely. Just bring your comfy slippers and a book and while away the hours and chat with like minded locals and adventurous walkers and dog lovers alike. Great!!!!!!!

If you like a few to drink but still drive it’s a good little pub. Unlike other pubs the Landlord Gary will turn a blind eye when you leave. One fall back is they have a lot of dogs in the the place which is particularly bad when your eating. Otherwise great. We will always go there as it’s away from town.

Cracking pub, popped in with my dog after I'd been out Derbyshire for a walk. Lady behind the bar was really good and gave me a big bowl of water for her. Very nice pub which I will be using again. 😀🐕
