We’ve visited hundreds of coffee shops around the country over the years and tried numerous cakes and desserts. I can say without reservation that the Apple and almond cake and Bakewell tart were the two nicest we’ve ever tasted. What a little gem of a coffee shop. Cheerful and welcoming staff and to top it all they’re dog friendly.

The food was very good. I'm not sure that having dogs in the restaurant section ( when you can eat in the pub bit) is a good idea or conducive to the intended atmosphere.

We went here for breakfast at about 10 in the morning. The cafe had no heating on therefore it was quite cold. We wanted the oak cake full breakfast but they had no oatcakes. Therefore we ordered two English breakfasts the portion sizes are very small almost minimalistic for £6.70 each this was overpriced. Drinks were not included with the breakfast so there was then an additional £1.70 for a mug of tea! We asked for a filter coffee but they had none. Overall £17.60 for two people. I will come to Hayfield again but would not come to Rosie Lees again. It’s overpriced for what you get.

Amazing staff who did not flinch when 18 of us turned up for breakfast. Natalie, Oomar and Rukiya all went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. All ordered different breakfasts and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Kids enjoyed the village feel and the stream on the street. Would defo go again

Both food and service was excellent Roast Beef, Roast Lamb and a steak pie where readily ordered and absolutely spot on. Also had several desserts Brioche pudding and Apple crumble and again amazing. Waiting staff super tenterive and really cheerful. Loved the walk up to the downfall and really enjoyed food and drinks afterwards 😊😊

Stayed here one night whilst visiting family and will definitely be back. Joss, Lyndsey and their staff were very welcoming. The hotel dates from the 16th century and has all the quirkiness of that age. The room was beautiful, very clean, bed comfortable with a choice of pillows, modern well presented bathroom and equipped with tea and coffee tray and a hairdryer. The bar homely and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. Can highly recommend.
