Colosseo Italian Bar and Restaurant in High Peak

We didn’t want to cook this year, so booked here. We have been many times before but Christmas Day was extra nice. We were seated and served drinks. The menu was a 3 choice set menu but all sounded perfect. We made our choices and were starved our starters within 10 mins. The food was amazing, very fresh very hot and tasty. We were not rushed it was just perfect. Everything you would expect. I would definitely recommend doing Christmas Day here as it isn’t overly priced and the choice is great. Thank you for looking after us.

What a lovely place for a lunch time meal or evening meal! I think this may be our favourite place at the moment. The food is exceptional! The decor/ building feels special. The staff are so lovely. The service is relaxed but professional. Their wines are beautiful. We will be booking again very soon. Mario and the team get our vote!

As always this little gem never fails to deliver, excellent food and service from the team cannot wait for Xmas Day which as like last year will wonderful

As v regular visitors to the village, i nonetheless write this as a (sadly) non local. The Colosseo is absolutely rocking on a Sat night. Plush, upmarket feeĺing yet relaxed. Very good & expansive menu. Great vibe, busy & "towny" in a good way. My wife & I loved it. Really good food, ace service. A real treat in this perfect village. Thanks guys *UPDATED* We live in the village now & we're v fortunate that this is an easy go to. Always a delicious treat & the proprietors are very nice too. Also good to just pop in for a pint too.

What I say a fantastic fillet steak medium rare and meat balls and a pint 🍺 Madri or 2 😂 Best steak ever had 10/10 customer service staff,😃😄

A bit weird an Italian restaurant run by Albanian's. I was expecting Italian people! The food was amazing though and I will be back again for sure.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Great choice of dishes. I had the pan fried seabass on seafood risotto - all fresh and very tasty. Delicious! And great atmosphere too with great service.

Service was very prompt, and the food was delicious! I was tempted in by a review stating it was the best pizza outside of Italy. I'm not sure I would go that far, but it was tasty none the less. Only very slight dissapointment were the cocktails I had. Not the best, but to be fair, perhaps I selected the wrong cocktails for me. I regret not having the after eight cocktail....Next time! Vibe was really nice and buzzing. Would definitely recommend and go again.

I first came to Hayfield about 37 years ago a couple of times and walked up to Kinder Scout. I organised a walking trip this week for a few friends, to do the same route I did then, from Hayfield to Edale. The weather was horrid, but both nights that we stayed in Hayfield, we ate at Colosseo. It was superb. Lovely food and drink. Nice atmosphere. Great interior and lovely staff, including Mario, who wasn't even born the last time I came!!

A beautiful restaurant with amazing food. Their steak is fantastic. The staff are really polite and friendly and make you feel really welcome. Highly recommended!

Firstly, I did choose to not speak out even when we were asked how things were because I didn’t want to ruin our evening. There was no point in contacting them after as there was nothing to be gained by anyone. I went here after reading fantastic reviews. It’s a beautiful place but I felt that the food was a let down. Squid starter was undercooked, pâté was just like it had been bought from Aldi and presented poorly with packet butter. Beef stroganoff tasted like it had been made with gravy granules with cream added and the rice was stodgy risotto rice. Only one risotto rice main looked nice whilst the others were very bland and lastly, the pasta was basic shop bought. The prices are worthy of freshly made pasta and I expected far better for what we paid. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Our new Favourite Italian!!! Great staff, great food, lovely venue and Hayfield is a lovely little town. Worth a drive out. Update, a bit of a wobble, we went again and not the best. Mussles were gritty which could have been avoided but worse the pasta was hard either over or undercooked. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm!

We met friends (who were late) on a busy bank holiday weekend. I loved the hearty genuinely Italian, fairly priced food and the responsive efficient service. The massive let-down (hence 1 star atmosphere) was the thumping music over our table; ok for a nightclub/bar but not for people wanting a nice evening of conversation and catch-up. (They may want to think about what their sound system is for and where the loudspeakers are located)

This is our fourth visit and again did not disappoint. Staff warm, friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere lovely, locals very happy to chat and friendly and as for the food cannot fault it.

An absolute must for anyone visiting Hayfield!

Never fails absolutely fantastic food and service, we have been coming here for a long time we all love the food, atmosphere and great service from vulnet and his team. Visited this evening with some of the family and again all empty plates, from prawns to start to chicken, pasta and steaks and then dessert thank you for looking after us.

We both came down from London to visit Peak district. We found this restaurant at the end of our hikes. Also came the next day after Kinder Scout. We were seated quickly and had great service from the servers. Thoughtful to make sure we were updated as one of our dishes were taking a while. I didn't notice as the overall atmosphere was warm and cozy especially coming in from the rain. Amazing food and drinks. I had the calamari fritti and pollo involtini. On the second night I had the rib eye al esrilla. My friend wanted a dish but without the meat and they managed to cater towards that which was really nice of them to do. Thank you! Both of us were very happy with our meals. Also the staff were friendly and welcoming especially Marius the bartender! Thank you for the Limocello 😉

What can I say. We were recommended to visit this place and arrived with high expectations. I’t did not disappoint. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. The prawns were the biggest I’ve seen. Colosseo has a really good seafood supplier. We were a party of seven and all the dishes were so nice. A lot of food envy going on. 💯 recommend

Very good alternative to Casa D’Italia on the outskirts of Glossop which unfortunately shut about twelve months but apparently shares the same owner. Takes a little bit of finding, even in a place as small as Hayfield and the car park only holds about five vehicles so a short walk from on street parking may be necessary. Absolutely worth a visit though. Excellent food, very good service and a comfortable, friendly restaurant offering very good value. Now we’ve found it we’ll definitely be back.

We found a buzzing atmosphere and great food at Colosseo. The menu is varied and covers plenty of options for meat/fish dishes, pasta, risotto, pizza, spoilt for choice! Prices weren't cheap but were all reasonable, including the house wine which was also really good. The restaurant also has a lively cocktail scene which gave a great feel to the place. 10/10 definitely recommend and hope to be back to try more dishes!

Me and my partner got a table last minute, in which we were so grateful as it seemed to be on arrival the place to be in Hayfield. We'd only seen it when driving through the village. The food was absolutely amazing!! The waitresses were also so great!! The only thing that took a star off them was, I don't know if he was the owner. Italian guy. Being rude to his staff. He seemed too controlling. The girls were obviously more than capable of doing their jobs. They looked unhappy. We noticed him taking meals off the waitresses to deliver to the tables himself. Assuming to get the credit himself. There was an incidence when a waitress did manage to make it to a table with food to get shouted at "do they want cheese?!!" He didn't give her the chance to ask before shouting this. Funny as when he delivered my meal he neglected to ask if I wanted pepper or parmasan!!! I had to ask for it!!!!

As I drive, I asked about alcohol free beer - got a curt no, my only options were coke, lemonade or lime and soda. Food was lovely, but not having vegetables with a meal seemed odd.

Went here for large family wedding celebration meal. We were upstairs great atmosphere and every single person was happy with their food said it was delicious. Service was excellent would definitely recommend.

Wonderful service a d excellent food

We had a fabulous night here celebrating my son's 40th birthday. Everyone said their food was amazing. Mine was beautiful and adapted to veggie. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We have been before a few times. The rest of the family have said they will definitely be going again.

Went late on a Sunday with my partner. Staff were really polite and efficient. Pasta dishes might have been the best I've ever had. Prawns super fresh. Wine was great. Prices not too bad considering the location.

Excellent service prepared with exceptional food. The lighting is vibrant and warm with good drinks and excellent music.

Absolutely great service, got seated instantly despite arriving 20 mins early, served us drinks nice and quickly, they had to ask us to swap to the table next to us which was absolutely fine and they moved everything over for us! Waiter even pulled out the chair for me to sit in and they were all absolutely incredible! Really cute little Italian atmosphere and food was delicious! Because we moved tables they also gave us a free shot. The prices are very good and reasonable for what you get also!

One of the best pizza I have eaten! Not expensive and good quality, tasty and freshly made, especially when we are talking about 14 pizza's at once to be made! Recommended with all my heart!

We went to Colosseo last night as a special evening before our baby comes along on Friday! We have been before so knew the food would be spot on! And it didn't let us down! The food is so fresh and delicious. We had the ribs to share for a starter as well as some garlic bread. The ribs were in such a flavourful sauce, I would highly recommend these as a starter. For mains I had the homemade meatballs and my partner had the calzone with Bolognese sauce, both were gorgeous! The staff on arrival were really friendly as always . However the music was so loud we couldn't really hear each other talk. The service was good, we didn't wait ages for food , however we did have to wait a while for drinks and to get attention from waiters to order more drinks even though our empty glasses had been there for a while, even when they brought food to the table. I ordered water at the beginning and had to ask 3 times before we actually received it. However it didn't dampen our evening and we still had a nice time . :)

The food is easily the best Italian we've had outside of Rome. Attentive and respectful service, quality cocktails and wine. It was busy, we didn't have a booking but they had a table ready for us within 10 mins. Nice balance of relaxed yet classy. Even our teenager enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Our daughter moved to Hayfield last week and we went to visit her at the weekend. We visited Colosseo on Saturday evening and it was superb. Great food and service at reasonable prices. The atmosphere was buzzing and i would definitely recommend booking in advance as it was absolutely heaving. The staff never stopped running around making sure everyone was being looked after. Will certainly be visiting again so well done to the owners and staff.

It's a great Italian restaurant in the Peak District. Booking a table is recommended, especially during the busy evenings. Food is excellent, also good wine choices and of course Italian beer. Highly recommended as it's location is very convenient.

I have had a lot of Italian food & this place did not match. Food was also extremely expensive. Service was good but was let down at the end when other tables got lemonchello shots with there bill and we didn't!!

Ordered take away pizza and salad, both were fantastic. I am from New York, and am partial to pizza at home, so this was a really nice surprise!

Ate there last night with my wife. We had cheesy garlic bread , probably yhe best i had for a long time, good pizza dough and smooth garlic flavour, wasnt too oily as i normaly find, we also had the calamari fritti. It was refreshibg to see the whole squid, it was fried with just flower, salt and pepper, a nice change from the usual overcooked squid rings you get in other restaurants. This dish was nice and soft and full of flavour . We followed with the lamb shank and pepper sauce chicken, the lamb shank was cooked to perfection, it was coming appart from the bone but still had all the flavour, the sauce was a bit too acicdic for my taste but still nice and it came with a nice coarse mash potatoe wich i really enjoyed. The chicken in pepper sauce was to die for. Staff were very attentive and friendly, they definately put the cherry on the top of what was a really enjoyable evening. Thanks guys

Dropped by for a pizza after day walking. Waited 45 minutes, and was really disappointed, incredibly salty and we ended up throwing half of it away.

Ridiculous, Booked for 8:15pm said 5-10mins at 8pm 8:10 said 2 mins and proceeded to ignore us at 8:35 and its now 8:55

We are regulars at this place, each time we go it’s a 10/10 dining experience. The staff are incredible, they can’t do enough for you. The service is second to non and the food is to die for, i have tried multiple things of the menu and they are all top quality. One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. I recommend you try the Fillet el pepe and you will not be disappointed

I went with my daughter and baby Grandson. Approximately 7pm. It was already full downstairs so we were helped upstairs (with the pram). I had the peppercorn chicken and my daughter had steak .Everything was perfect from the service, to the wine .The food was absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely go again

Was the only place open late and we were pleasantly surprised. Great food quality and service. Real pizza and risotto , got to visit hayfield for food again next time.

I came here very last minute quite late due to a timings issue. They had no problem with the late-ness, didn't pressure me, even though I imagine their kitchen wanted to shut down. The service was good and the staff were freindly. I had two perfect pints, a very tasty rib starter and good pizza, whichi couldn't finish but they put in a box for me. The prices were very reasonable too. I'd happily eat here again. The waitress was particularly good but unfortunately I don't have her name.
