Colosseo Italian Bar and Restaurant in High Peak

We met friends (who were late) on a busy bank holiday weekend. I loved the hearty genuinely Italian, fairly priced food and the responsive efficient service. The only let-down (hence 1 star loss) was the thumping music over our table; ok for a nightclub/bar but not for people wanting a nice evening of conversation and catch-up. (They turned it down a bit, but they may want to think about what their sound system is for.)

Fabulous meal that was beautifully presented and the evening was a real occasion.

As I drive, I asked about alcohol free beer - got a curt no, my only options were coke, lemonade or lime and soda. Food was lovely, but not having vegetables with a meal seemed odd.

Went here for large family wedding celebration meal. We were upstairs great atmosphere and every single person was happy with their food said it was delicious. Service was excellent would definitely recommend.

Wonderful service a d excellent food

We had a fabulous night here celebrating my son's 40th birthday. Everyone said their food was amazing. Mine was beautiful and adapted to veggie. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We have been before a few times. The rest of the family have said they will definitely be going again.

Went late on a Sunday with my partner. Staff were really polite and efficient. Pasta dishes might have been the best I've ever had. Prawns super fresh. Wine was great. Prices not too bad considering the location.

Absolutely great service, got seated instantly despite arriving 20 mins early, served us drinks nice and quickly, they had to ask us to swap to the table next to us which was absolutely fine and they moved everything over for us! Waiter even pulled out the chair for me to sit in and they were all absolutely incredible! Really cute little Italian atmosphere and food was delicious! Because we moved tables they also gave us a free shot. The prices are very good and reasonable for what you get also!

One of the best pizza I have eaten! Not expensive and good quality, tasty and freshly made, especially when we are talking about 14 pizza's at once to be made! Recommended with all my heart!

We went to Colosseo last night as a special evening before our baby comes along on Friday! We have been before so knew the food would be spot on! And it didn't let us down! The food is so fresh and delicious. We had the ribs to share for a starter as well as some garlic bread. The ribs were in such a flavourful sauce, I would highly recommend these as a starter. For mains I had the homemade meatballs and my partner had the calzone with Bolognese sauce, both were gorgeous! The staff on arrival were really friendly as always . However the music was so loud we couldn't really hear each other talk. The service was good, we didn't wait ages for food , however we did have to wait a while for drinks and to get attention from waiters to order more drinks even though our empty glasses had been there for a while, even when they brought food to the table. I ordered water at the beginning and had to ask 3 times before we actually received it. However it didn't dampen our evening and we still had a nice time . :)

A hidden gem, amazing Italian food - one of the best pizzas I've ever had, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. It's so rare to eat in a restaurant that just gets it right!! We will be back on our next visit to the Peaks. Thank you so much

The food is easily the best Italian we've had outside of Rome. Attentive and respectful service, quality cocktails and wine. It was busy, we didn't have a booking but they had a table ready for us within 10 mins. Nice balance of relaxed yet classy. Even our teenager enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Great Italian we discovered by chance whilst staying at the the caravan and camping club site. 15m walk along the river. Great food, service and value. Recommended!

Our daughter moved to Hayfield last week and we went to visit her at the weekend. We visited Colosseo on Saturday evening and it was superb. Great food and service at reasonable prices. The atmosphere was buzzing and i would definitely recommend booking in advance as it was absolutely heaving. The staff never stopped running around making sure everyone was being looked after. Will certainly be visiting again so well done to the owners and staff.

It's a great Italian restaurant in the Peak District. Booking a table is recommended, especially during the busy evenings. Food is excellent, also good wine choices and of course Italian beer. Highly recommended as it's location is very convenient.

I have had a lot of Italian food & this place did not match. Food was also extremely expensive. Service was good but was let down at the end when other tables got lemonchello shots with there bill and we didn't!!

Ordered take away pizza and salad, both were fantastic. I am from New York, and am partial to pizza at home, so this was a really nice surprise!

Ate there last night with my wife. We had cheesy garlic bread , probably yhe best i had for a long time, good pizza dough and smooth garlic flavour, wasnt too oily as i normaly find, we also had the calamari fritti. It was refreshibg to see the whole squid, it was fried with just flower, salt and pepper, a nice change from the usual overcooked squid rings you get in other restaurants. This dish was nice and soft and full of flavour . We followed with the lamb shank and pepper sauce chicken, the lamb shank was cooked to perfection, it was coming appart from the bone but still had all the flavour, the sauce was a bit too acicdic for my taste but still nice and it came with a nice coarse mash potatoe wich i really enjoyed. The chicken in pepper sauce was to die for. Staff were very attentive and friendly, they definately put the cherry on the top of what was a really enjoyable evening. Thanks guys

Dropped by for a pizza after day walking. Waited 45 minutes, and was really disappointed, incredibly salty and we ended up throwing half of it away.

As v regular visitors to the village, i nonetheless write this as a (sadly) non local. The Colosseo is abseloutely rocking on a Sat night. Plush, upmarket feeĺing yet relaxed. Very good & expansive menu. Great vibe, busy & "towny" in a good way. My wife & I loved it. Really good food, ace service. A real treat in this perfect village. Thanks guys,

Terrible service, more than 40 min wait for our booked table, they forgot to bring us our drinks. Would not recommend.

Ridiculous, Booked for 8:15pm said 5-10mins at 8pm 8:10 said 2 mins and proceeded to ignore us at 8:35 and its now 8:55

Probably the most fresh n tasty food I have eaten in a long time ! The Calamari starter was next level .. as was the king prawn linguine 👌

We are regulars at this place, each time we go it’s a 10/10 dining experience. The staff are incredible, they can’t do enough for you. The service is second to non and the food is to die for, i have tried multiple things of the menu and they are all top quality. One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. I recommend you try the Fillet el pepe and you will not be disappointed

I went with my daughter and baby Grandson. Approximately 7pm. It was already full downstairs so we were helped upstairs (with the pram). I had the peppercorn chicken and my daughter had steak .Everything was perfect from the service, to the wine .The food was absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely go again

I came here very last minute quite late due to a timings issue. They had no problem with the late-ness, didn't pressure me, even though I imagine their kitchen wanted to shut down. The service was good and the staff were freindly. I had two perfect pints, a very tasty rib starter and good pizza, whichi couldn't finish but they put in a box for me. The prices were very reasonable too. I'd happily eat here again. The waitress was particularly good but unfortunately I don't have her name.

Fantastic restaurant, went for my Grandsons birthday, the staff were amazing thoughtful, kind and attentive.Really made my Grandsons birthday special. Food was beautiful and the cocktails were lush. Would highly recommend this restaurant 5*.

Amazing restaurant. Everyone at our table agreed that this was one of the best Italian restaurants they had been to (and we have 5 Italian restaurants on our block alone). Some of our favourite dishes were the scallop starters, the marshmallow cocktail and the prawn linguine, but all the dishes were consistently good. Particularly impressive given the large size of the menu. The service was also excellent throughout the meal.

Wow! We are staying in Hayfield for a holiday and liked the look of this restaurant on arrival. After looking at great reviews we visited on 13th September and we were not disappointed. Mario's and Bachi were fantastic from the start. The place was busy but the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. Well done guys we had a great night and will definitely return.

Starters are decent but where this place excels is it's mains. I went 2 nights on the trot, filet steak one night Piscatore Pizza the next. As good as any I have had...ever.....and I've had a lot :)

What a find! Lovely Italian restaurant in Hayfield - we enjoyed it so much we went the following evening! Pizzas were excellent, as was the calamari starter. We had pasta the following night which was equally excellent. Special mention for our host, Rubén’s who was incredibly welcoming and fun to talk to. Definitely recommend a visit!👍

It’s gorgeous food had spaghetti bol but portions are suitable for a 6 year old had two courses and left hungry service incredibly slow as 2 servers and incredibly busy

Calamari was pale and not well seasoned and my pizza (cotto funghi) didn't have the best ingredients.. that said the service was good and my friends had great food - spicy pepperoni pizza, seafood pasta, garlic bread. Good atmosphere and price. Would try again and order something different

Lovely meal here last nite, buzzing atmosphere, great service. The Arancini special with ham and mushroom were excellent, seafood risotto and salmon farfalle were both very tasty and finished off with home made Tiramusu. 😋

Visited this lovely restaurant yesterday for the first time with two friends. What a find! Relaxed, friendly atmosphere in an airy well appointed bar & eating area. The service was attentive but not pushy. The food was great, particularly the homemade tiramisu. Made for a fabulous evening for myself & my friends. We will be back and really happy to recommend 😌
