Lovely cafe, welcoming staff and delicious baked produce. I only pulled over, on my way to hike Kinder Scout, for a pre-walk coffee. However, the display of fresh cakes was irresistable. The Cheese and Broccoli quiche wasn't something I'd usually choose, but I'm glad I did. It came with a side salad and boxed up to take home 🙂

We were really looking forward to our breakfast here; having stayed close by for a few days. We arrived just after opening times and were sent away as a staff member was late. Would have been nice to be welcomed in. When we did get in the staff were not friendly and seemed super rushed and flustered. They had a limited menu available so we picked hot sandwiches. They didn’t have orange juice or mushrooms and went to the shop to try and find them. No orange juice at the shop either. The sausage sandwiches were tasty.

We visited the Rosie Lee café after a walk and ordered tea and coffee. We fancied a couple of cheese scones. When we asked whether these could be warmed for us, one of the women behind the counter said, "they've not been long out of the oven", reached out and put her bare hand on one of the scones to test it. I was astonished as this goes against all food hygiene practices. Later a customer came in with a metal dog bowl and asked for it to be filled with clean water. The same staff member took it and refilled it, made a fuss of the dog, but didn't wash her hands afterwards, she just carried on serving food. The scones we received were small and stodgy, definitely under baked and not particularly warm, either. The café was almost empty but a woman with a dog came in - a regular I think. The dog sat at my elbow staring up at me as I ate, and when I moved it barked at me. So, lousy food hygiene, disappointing scones and antisocial dogs allowed inside the café. We won't be returning. it's a shame as it could be such a great place with a little more care and attention.

Sadly, we were quite disappointed to see the chef working without gloves, scratching her head, licking her fingers and them proceeding to touch the food she was making, we popped out for some lunch before an appointment and left feeling a little bit sick having seen the poor hygiene standard. I intended on getting a cake as well, but having the sandwich was quite hard to finish having seen the interactions! The atmosphere in the cafe and lady who served us was lovely, that goes without saying!

Absolutely disgusted with the service I received from the staff at this cafe especially the gentlemen who works there (the owner) I visited with my family today and ordered slices of cakes and coffees to find hairs in all the cake boxes. Once I made the staff aware I were then handed more boxes of cakes but found hair in them AGAIN to which I decided to get a refund. Rather then the staff (the owner) being apologetic we were called “little s**ts” when our backs were turned. Appalling customer service. No one should be made to feel bad for not wanting to eat cake with hair as a side. UNHYGIENIC is an understatement.then when confronted about his comment he told us not to come back.

We have always loved visiting this cafe for the delicious food, tea made with tea leaves, excellent coffee and smiling happy staff, but on our last few visits we have been a bit disappointed. On our last visit the coffee tasted burnt and bitter. The waiter kindly remade 2 new cups which were up to the usual high standard, but the experience is a bit off-putting. There were 3 staff behind the counter which seems like a lot for a small cafe, but service was slow. The new staff don't say hello when you enter, don't say goodbye, don't chat and do the minimum. I think the atmosphere has changed and that's a real shame. The food is great still though.

We went here for a cake and coffee to dry off a little bit and give my 9 month old some lunch ordered cakes and drinks then 3min later ordered some soup as it was dairy free and my baby was able to have this as there wasn't anything else she could eat, the kids brownie and baby chinos came and then my scone I paid for with cream and jam they had no cream so changed it to a tea cake, 25 min for that to come no refund for the cream and jam I paid for and the extra from the scone, still waiting for the soup asked how long and said I will just have a refund one of the staff told me that others sausages and bacon cobs and breakfast are easier to make and the soup takes longer even though I saw the man bring 3 plastic tubes of FROZEN soup through. the soup for my baby 35 min we waited and omg it was still part frozen, and freezing cold told them I wanted a refund and left the staff was so rude and looked and made me feel like I was wrong... my baby was so hungry and they didn't seem to care.. Wouldn't recommend visiting.. Hotel down the road had lovely soup and got it my baby in 2 min

Elsewhere the evening before were not accommodating, so THIS was a solace! I kept 'humming' as Chris was putting the tea pot on table while I massacred a winged sandwich: not talking about feathers, either!Free New Mills sweets, so I took three ~ my wife, the canine and I. But a bugger to open! Another tea, to which went untasted [quick brew!] and one of those cakes. Thought I'd see Chris by now. Exited feet. GO!

There were three young waiting staff on shift when we visited that were all very friendly. However, when I was at the counter ordering food I asked if I could swap an item on my lunch but before the younger guy behind the counter had time to open his mouth the older guy who was cooking (and also the owner i believe) started shouting at me! "You take it as it is or you don't get anything" I don't mind being told that the menu cannot be altered due to how busy the cafe was, but the manner in which he shouted at me was very unprofessional and unwelcoming. The rest of the staff were very nice. Coffee was nice and the food was decent. The bad review is only because the guy doing the cooking was rude!

We have always loved the food at this cafe and travelled a long way to enjoy it. However, I have to say that last time we visited on our way over to Lancashire, we went out of our way to call in for breakfast. Although the cafe had been open 45 minutes before we arrived, the place was freezing and the radiators were cold. We kept our coats and scarves on, but the owner didn't take the hint, until his partner came and switched some wall heaters on. By that time it was too late for us and we couldn't wait to get into our warm car!! The new owners have kept the same concept as the previous owners, apart from the temperature in the cafe!! Will certainly not be trekking to Rosie Lee's again.
