I used to like this place and used over other local establishments in the area. I ordered a bacon baguette on this occasion to drive home 8 miles and eat my sandwich to find half way through eating there was chicken inside it... bonus if you like chicken... but myself can’t stand it and makes me ill eating it. So we rang up stating of what happened and no real offer for money back or anything. So for people who have allergies with white meat... beware as the woman stated “we cook all meat in one pan” won’t be back again... shocking.

I nipped in with the walking group. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They sorted us a table by moving some tables and chairs so we could all sit together. The cheese scone I had was delicious and the coffee was lovely. The other members of the group enjoyed their food and drinks too.

Chose from the amazing selection on the Specials Board and it did not disappoint - I can confirm it tasted as good as it looks!! - Crispy Halloumi, Moroccan Couscous, Mint Yogurt, Pomegranate Molasses & Flatbread. ❤️🍽️🫖

Difficult review to leave because the food might have been okay if it had been received in reasonable time and whilst still warm. To add insult to injury we were repeatedly lied to about the progress of our delivery when we first phoned to chase it. We were told it was on the way and would be with us in a few minutes. When we phoned again half an hour later we had the same response. A man who called himself Tony then called us back to apologise just as the food was arriving. When I called him back he grandiosely offered that if I called in to see him he would "look after me". I declined his offer and said we would speak again after we could see how the meal had gone. Regrettably the damage was already done as the meal was for myself and a group of friends, 10 in total, who had travelled to the area to hold a special version of a monthly club meeting. The whole focus of the weekend was the Saturday night meeting and the meal was to be eaten during the interval of the meeting. The late delivery of the food completely ruined the plan for the evening and hence the weekend. I tried to call "Tony" a couple of times afterwards with no joy so I wrote to him explaining the above and have not heard from him. Needless to say we would not use Star Anise again and I would not recommend them to anyone else.

Nice food good pizza’s! Just could do something with the flies and stuff need to focus on pest control more. But lovely food and people

The timings weren’t great as they were unorganised, they do not understand and speak fluent English and therefore can be difficult to understand at times, however the food was amazing and the whole restaurant and cooking area was clean.

Perfect place for families. Staff very friendly. My kids really enjoyed painting their creations. It was good value too and kept my children busy on a rainy day. Would definitely recommend. The gift shop is beautiful too. 5 stars

The cakes looked so good from the window. Went in and asked for cornflake slice and a frangipani. The young man didn’t listen to me because when I got home there was no cornflakes slice. So disappointed.

Good- Nice decor & lovely friendly staff. Smoothie was pleasant Bad- No rolls/cobs at 12.15 for lunch. So a member of staff was dispatched to the garage next door to get sad looking rolls on white bread. No salad , no crisps no coleslaw. Ugly The price for sad roll & smoothie Dont bother going there , no fan on a boiling hot day & limited food options

Decent fish and chips. Popped in last night on my way past and had mini fish and chips £7.50. Nice and hot and quick service too.

Really lovely place. We are visiting from Devon and stopped here for breakfast before heading to Alton Towers and had a great visit. Really helpful and friendly staff and tasty food

Gorgeous food and a great choice on the kids' menu! Everything tasted really fresh and great quality ingredients. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. We even left my sons water bottle behind, and they are keeping it to one side for when we return! 😆🙈
