We booked in and took our kids in the easter holidays There's plenty of choice of what to paint, all individually priced They really enjoyed it with no pressure time wise for them to be finished There is a wait for the pottery to be fired, ours was a week so we've yet to go back and collect them but they said there is no rush so Coffee was also reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly

A fantastic place to spend a couple of hours painting pottery and having a coffee. Booked the previous evening, we were made to feel welcome and had a table ready and waiting with all the paints. Great selection of paints/stamps/writing paints etc. We spent a happy couple of hours painting and having a mid painting coffee and roasted teacake ( highly recommend). Can’t wait to get our plate back in a couple of weeks. Great family experience with very helpful and friendly staff. Good value for money.

We went to Sticky Fingers to decorate pottery. Our two grandchildren were so excited and were not disappointed From start to finish all was good. They were given a lovely welcome, everything explained clearly, good choice of items to decorate. Great to hear them retelling their experience to their parents They can't wait to return. Thank you.

Visited Asbourne yday Arrived after 2.5 hr journey in boiling heat Stopped for 2 pots of tea in Sticky Fingers - there was a seating area outside and we indicated we would like to sit there. Concerned expression on waitress’ face who insisted we paid before moving outside - we hadn’t had the tea at this point! The attitude was we were not trustworthy. We used the loo then left to look around. Hub then needed loo again and popped back in and asked if he could use it - expecting nothing more than an ‘of course’. Instead he was told, very brusquely, they were ‘for customers only’. He explained he’d been in earlier (it was no more than half an hour). He was told he was no longer a customer and it was suggested he go to Sainsburys . To put it bluntly - the reason he needed the loo was he had purchased two pots of tea from them! Never experienced anything like it before. Went to ‘the Bank’ just yards down the road - having not purchased anything at all from there - and was told he was welcome to use the loo. We will not be returning to Sticky Fingers - miserable unfriendly service - mediocre at best. Dread to think what would happen to s/o who was elderly or had a medical condition. Also terrible advert for the town which we understand is hoping to attract new tourists.

We have previously enjoyed pleasant visits to this venue. On this occasion we returned to collect pottery that we had recently painted, luckily we stayed for a drink because when we opened the pottery at our table we discovered one item was broken. The only thing that the staff member could say was ‘well I don’t know how that has happened’. There was no apology but an accusatory tone, thankfully we had not left the shop before opening the item. My husband said we would take the £25 item and try and glue it. I then commented that the situation was not good because it had obviously been dropped or crushed. At that point we were offered to repaint an item or take a voucher, we opted to take a voucher and were given £12 because we were taking a broken item. I returned to the shop and gave them back the broken pottery in exchange for the full £25 voucher because it was absolutely ludicrous to charge us for an item that had been broken before we received it. Again no apology for the inconvenience caused. Someone needs to brush up on their customer care skills.

Smallest piece of cake ever, it was at least two days old, dry and unpleasant. Took twenty minutes to toast a tea cake, no one else there so not busy. A very sweet young waitress did her best but there was an air of not being welcome by the senior woman. Definitely wouldn't visit again.

Visited with my 11 year old daughter, who was excited by the lovely gift shop, after much deliberation she decided to spend her precious holiday spending money on a monkey soft toy clearly priced at £12.50, she stood at the till with her toy to be told it scanned at £24.99, and she would have to pay that amount or choose something else, the assistant then proceeded to offer her a different toy ( one she already owned) and not half as nice for her £12.50, knowing she had taken a long time to choose this precious purchase. We left without buying anything, my daughter having to hand the monkey back. Not honouring a price when it’s clearly marked is poor customer service at any time, but to do it to a child is disgusting, especially when you cater for children’s parties , so should be child friendly. My daughter was very sad and disappointed.I am very cross with the service we received, the assistant did apologise for the pricing error, but seemed to think reassuring my daughter she would price the monkey differently after we left was going to offer some sort of comfort. We won’t be returning.

A most entertaining afternoon it was. I took my Fairy God Daughter for a birthday treat. She very much enjoyed the victorian lemonade but most of all she enjoyed decorating a Gnome with coloured bobbly air drying clay - This she did to perfection & was able to take it home with her that same day. There is a vast array of things to choose from & mediums to use. No time limit on the activity & she was able to create a thing of beauty. I have no doubt we shall return again. There are so many pottery items to choose from to paint and the staff were very helpful, telling us about the various paints etc. Then they left us to it - which I much prefer to people hoovering when I am be creative (lol) as there's less chance of making mistakes (always happens when someone watches). We ordered cake and hot drinks which were absolutely lovely. As we were unable to pop back after the pottery has been fired in the kiln they are sending our items in the post. Also if you aren't very artistic there are loads of other beautiful gifts and knick-nacks.

I had booked ahead for a group of nine adults to 'have a go' at either ceramic painting/decopatch or mosaics, plus afternoon tea. We were shown to our private room and offered drinks. We each decided on which craft to try. So far so good. BUT the member of staff asked for advice/instruction was so surly, we soldiered on without any real assistance. Again, the afternoon tea was good quality and varied but the same staff member seemed disinterested and we had to remind her that not all our ordered hot drinks had been brought to us. Part of the tea was a very lovely large cake brought for us to cut and serve oursleves, however we were too full and only a sliver was cut to taste. We were not offered the option to take slices home and the cake, after having been on our table for an hour, was returned to behind the counter, and placed under a glass dome like the others on display, presumably to be sold by the slice to other customers. This raised some hygiene concerns. When we paid, we discovered the initial drinks were not includedin the afternoon tea price, which was not made clear when our order was taken. Ho hum, we paid up and I told the goods which requiried glazing would be availabe after 2pm the following Wednesday. I duly set out to collect them, only to be phoned at 1.30 that day (when I was 45 mins into a 1hour journey) to say their kiln was out of order, the goods not ready and they would phone when they were. The following Monday I rang as I'd heared nothing and left answerphone message. They rang me back on Tuesday; goods ready(hooray) but that there was money owing as they had undercharged us. I retorted that my petrol for the wasted journey and resold cake would cover the cost and was not charged when I collected the items. The shop owner was apologetic about the delay, then the same staff member as we'd been served by on our visit handed them over - without a word or smile. Perhaps she shoud reconsider her chosen employment as her attitude certainly marred our experience..

I'm a big fan of pottery painting so have wanted to visit Sticky Fingers for a while and we really enjoyed the experience. We reserved a table just in case and were happy to be seated in a separate room upstairs. With a playful toddler in tow, this meant we weren't bothering other customers! The lunch menu was small, with toasties, paninis etc. but perfect for us and reasonable too. Coffee was delicious. The pottery painting experience was pricier, but considering that the ceramics, paint & glazing were all included, this was worth the cost. We each painted a small piece over 2 hrs and it came to £21 in total. Not bad for an afternoon's activity, especially as the items will also double up as presents for family. It takes a week to glaze the pots and we can either collect or the cafe can post them. The shop was lovely - full of gorgeous things. A little cramped, which is a shame. I do think the downstairs could do with a slight re-organisation, but nothing radical. 5 stars from me - looking forward to returning!

Overall my visit to sticky fingers was lovely and enjoyable however there are some areas the cafe could improve. The pots and crafts were beautiful and nice selection. The food and drink was delicious and good variety. However to actually get to see them was a task in itself. The layout was cramped all in the front area with half the shop taken over by the merchandise. No space to move. To begin with I was stood awkwardly with no idea what to do, and eventually had to approach staff at the back of the store. However they were friendly and approachable for the rest of my visit. The prices for even a small pot were £5 which seems a lot for the size of the pot. Although there was no sitting fee which was nice. I would defiantly visit again however when the shop is not as busy. :)

I came in with my son during the Easter holidays and was extremely impressed by the staff. My son has severe Aspergers and can be very anxious in public places. We were helped by a lovely lady called Mary (if I remember correctly!) who made my son feel so at ease. She was quick to set us up with our Decopatching, and sat down at the table to explain to Jack what he had to do. Even though the shop was busy, she took the time to answer all of his (very) detailed questions and was very calm and kind. I think my son was somewhat besotted by her! Jack made a mistake with his crafting which he began to get very upset about, but Mary sat down again with him and helped him to put it back together. I was SO impressed, and frankly also very thankful as she prevented him from making a bit of a scene in front of the other customers, this girl deserves a raise! All of the other staff were super friendly and helpful, and the homemade cakes were delicious! This place needs to decide if it's an activity centre for kid's arts and crafts or a cafe. We were directed towards a cold, upstairs back room because the entire down stairs area was being used for face painting, etc. We then waited at least 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Still no-one came, so my partner had to go back downstairs to tell them we were still waiting. We were very much looking forward to our visit. We had been on the website and it gave the impression that the venue was family friendly and really focussed around arts and crafts. Unfortunately when we arrived it was a very different story, I had two children with me and a baby, once through the door there was nowhere to put the pushchair, I couldn't actually get any further into the cafe because of the cramped set up, four tables are tightly packed into the main pottery painting area. When I asked where it would go, one of the young girls suggested we collapse the pushchair and store at the back, well, I have a quinny buzz 3 and any mum with one knows that they are not easy to put down, least of all with a baby in arms. So I ended up moving some shelves to fight my way through and parked the pushchair next to our table. Great, we were in, time to choose from activities... We were given very little explanation as to what we could do, as sweet at the Saturday girls were, they were not very helpful when it came to the actual craft element, we were told to browse the shelves and find something. Up we got to have a look, and here lies the main problem, there was NO room to get to the shelves that run around the cafe, the only way to choose a bit of pottery or other activity was to lean over families eating their lunch, we got some awful looks from people (quite right!) as we hovered around trying to choose something for the girls. It was beyond awkward! We sat down again and one of the girls came over to set us on our way with the pottery painting, after a very brief introduction we were left to our own devices, unlike other pottery barns I have been to there was no instructor nearby to give hints and tips and ensure that the children didn't make a mess of their pieces, in the last five mins we discovered some lovely bits that really added to the pieces but sadly we have to rummage around the shelves for them. As I watched the girls, feeding the baby, he fell asleep in my arms after being quite fractious. At this exact moment a very rude member of staff asked me to move so she could get food to the table behind! I explained that I would rather not move the baby as he was only just asleep, she was very abrupt and insisted I move as my pushchair was in her way, this was the nail in the coffin for me and one of the other mums at a neighbouring table muttered to me "child friendly, I think not!", couldn't agree more. Needless to say the baby woke up and was unsettled as he was tired :( My summary of this "Craft Cafe" is this - It has the potential to be really good. Most of the staff are lovely and the cake was fab. If it is to be a family friendly cafe then it must be just that. Make room for pushchairs, if this means moving the racks of gifts that are stuffed into the corner then so be it, in terms of guest experience this would be a great improvement. Loose some of the tables downstairs unless they are reserved for people doing craft projects only. This place currently is cafe with a hint of craft, it needs to be the other way around, it felt like the money being driven from the cafe was more important that the craft, a real shame. And sort out the attitude of the rude lady :s Good luck!

As I approached this venue with my friends at first we were quite reluctant at the thought of a Cafe and a painting facility however we were quickly proven wrong. The quick-serving, friendly staff were quick to take orders (even though it was incredibly busy) and after a short amount of time we received our order and what we had was absolutely brilliant quality. I will make sure that my friends and I will recommend this to all associates and will hope to see you again soon! Well done!

This is a lovely cafe that boasts a craft shop and the offering of decorating pots or animals while you're there! A super place to take the children or grand children if the weather isn't clement. Very helpful staff make everyone welcome, whether crafters or eaters. We had a panini each and one between us would have been enough. They were very well presented with lots of salad and choices of accompaniment. Attentive waitresses who were eager to please and a very nice friendly atmosphere.I wishes I'd had the time to paint something or try out decoupage, but that's for another day. We will definitely go back many times.

This was our first time visiting Sticky Fingers after it was recommended by friends and we weren't disappointed. With friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere, we couldn't have asked for more as we painted our plate!

This was a truly magical experience from the moment you walk through the door. the staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough to make the visit special. Food choices were excellent and the plates arrive witih a plentiful amount of side orders. Its a place for a family outting as you and your children can have the chance to create your own painting pottery. Its also an unusual gift shop.I am sure no matter what age, this is a magical place to visit. i highly recommend it!!

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
