The best restaurants in Heage and Ambergate Amber Valley East Midlands

Everything you want in a chippy … gorgeous freshly cooked fish and chips, super clean premises and friendly service. Only thing to note is not follow SatNav, stick to main road and it’s just off the main road. We will be back 😁. Been going for about 12 years which says how good they are.

The food was beautiful, my only point to flag is, don't forget to take your own alcohol

The best full English breakfast I have had in a long while. Everything cooked to perfection and came out lovely and hot. All the coffees were well made and hot too. All the family enjoyed theirs too. Highly recommend.

Treated by my friends. Fantastic roast lamb dinner.... and it wasn't even a Sunday!

We visited yesterday for Sunday Lunch, well all I can say is that it was fabulous, the food was lovely, the atmosphere was welcoming and appreciative and the price was excellent. Noted they do a pie night on a Friday evening, normally not for us as my wife is a celiac- however they offer gluten free pie choices too. So we will most certainly be trying that over the coming weeks too. Definitely and highly recommend.

Excellent all round. Second visit on our short break for wedding anniversary, couldn't fault it.

Visited the Bridge House for a post hike lunch. I’ve been here with local friends previously and loved the food so I was excited to take a new friend there as well. Both my friend and I had the potato skins with bacon, goats cheese and avocado. - AMAZING. The pot of sour cream on the side was the perfect accompaniment- never change this! Have a look in the pictures at our hot chocolates too- WOW!!! It’s worth driving here just for this. Honestly, I’m super impressed. We arrived near the end of service so the restaurant was quieter than I’ve seen it on a weekend previously, this meant we were served quickly and Chris (the owner) came for a chat. After our meals we were shown the newly renovated bedrooms upstairs. There are 4 rooms, all individually decorated to suit different requirements. I will definitely be booking “The Bakewell” room next time I’m in the area overnight. - it is STUNNING! At the end of the day, The Bridge House is a wonderful brunch restaurant with great variety, lovely, warm staff and represents great value for money. If you’re in Ambergate, Nether Heage or surrounds- call in, you won’t regret it

Whilst staying at my dads for the day we decided to have a takeaway from this family favourite pub and we were once again not disappointed with the quality and amount of food we got! A quick phone call to order it and told how long it would take ! I collected the food half an hour later, the bar area was super busy but I was quickly served and took the bag of gorgeous smelling food home! Once it was dished out it looked and smelt amazing and was still very hot ! Even the gravy was steaming hot ! Absolutely beautiful, loads of meat, veg and potatoes ! Thank you everyone x

Attended a wedding but wouldn't recommend anyone have their wedding here. Disorganised rude staff, limited seating so spent most of the day standing, no food until late at night with guests having to walk to nearby fuel station for snacks.

Have been to The Excavator numerous times. Diane John and their team are always friendly and welcoming. They always go above and beyond decorating for special occasions. The food is delicious. Even my dog likes visiting. Keep up the good work ❤️❤️
