Poor service in the new cafe at Windsor Farm Shop, waiting 30mins + for Coffees and Hot Chocolate to come isn’t on. Staff seem disorganised and disorientated. Expected better considering the price.

The coffee shop has been a favourite of ours for years, however I’m sad to say it’s not any more. I’ve put off writing a review hoping that I would see improvements but sadly not. Some people might wonder why we would continue to visit and that’s because it’s a great location for meeting friends and the farm shop is a plus. One of the highlights of the coffee shop used to be the great selection of delicious cakes and pastries to choose from. However, nowadays whatever time of day we visit there is only a paltry selection. It’s a shame that I’ve seen the service go downhill too - we recently ordered tea and pastries and the pastries arrived 20 minutes after receiving our tea without any apology. On many occasions we have had to clear our own table, when breakfast plates etc have not been collected for sometime after finishing to make space for more drinks. Sadly the only staff members that appear friendly, welcoming and proactive are the manager and the lovely Asian lady.

I went to the Coffee Shop at Windsor Farm Shop today with a group of friends for lunch. We've been once before as it's central for all of us but, after today's visit, I shan't be using it again. The food was fine but the service was not what I expect. I appreciate that it was busy but I had to queue for a total of 25 minutes to order drinks and food, the canned drink I bought was warm and they didn't have ice, they didn't have any chips (not good when a large proportion of the menu is 'something and chips'), the woman on the till refused to substitute a jacket potato because they're different prices and, quite frankly, she was downright rude. Perhaps the chip fryer wasn't working but there was no notice to that effect so customers were only informed at the till when they were ordering. The fact that the Coffee Shop is part of the Crown Estate should surely mean that they should aim for high standards to lead by example, not resting on their laurels because of the name. Clearly there will be people who love it there but I was not only disappointed but came away feeling like customers are just a nuisance.

Wow - totally taken aback by the incredibly rude serving staff, one in particular. Yes it was busy and they were understaffed, but honestly a bit of customer service goes a long way. Tea was ok, cake dry and couldn’t eat it. All round poor experience and wouldn’t recommend it. It was also unbelievably hot and stuffy and furniture and decor had seen better days. If you want a coffee/lunch literally go anywhere else.

Absolutely disgusted today. I’m a regular- sadly won’t happen again. The last 3 experiences I’ve had have sadly come to an end of me visiting one of my ( now old favourite places!) the same lady to deal with me , I can’t comment enough on service, this older blond lady- not sure of her name. Is absolutely definitely not a people’s person. Every encounter I’ve had with her has made me want to not come back. However today I’ve decided and angrily left there to not come back. I went to order breakfast. Stood in the que for 15 minutes , everyone before me had ordered breakfast (also drove 55 minutes to come) and when it got to me she said. No you can’t order breakfast it’s 1130, however everyone before could. She didn’t even say sorry or I’ll try see if we could fit yours in I know you come here often. Disgusted and so not needed, was a favourite, not anymore. Rather take your money and good energy somewhere else and do yourself a favour.

We hold our weekly BNI business networking breakfast meeting for local businesses at the Royal Windsor Farm Shop Cafe each Friday morning between 7am and 8:45am. The process for ordering the breakfast food (from the selection of sausage baps, egg baps, beans & toast or mushroom & spinach on toast) is extremely smooth and the staff are very flexible and accommodating with any last minutes changes (even on the morning). It is never too much trouble. Teas, coffees and cups are always set out ready for us and the food is delicious. Attendees particularly enjoy the sausage baps.

I was meeting with my friend and this was our go to place before Covid as it had a great menu and a lovely selection of cakes. That is not the case these days despite what their website says. Lots of the food mentioned on there is not available and yet it is available to buy in their shop next door! I was told when I checked over the phone they were back at to normal but we found that not to be the case. There was a very limited choice of items on the lunch menu and if you want a dressing for your side salad bring your own. I asked where the dressings were and was told they had Brown sauce, Red sauce and Mayonnaise which were all in plastic sachets but no salad dressings. What a choice to put on my side salad unlike before when they had vinaigrette, Balsamic vinegar or Honey and mustard dressing along with many others. We were told this was because of delivery issues which we accepted but after our lunch we visited the shop and there was a whole stand full of salad dressings to buy but for some reason they don’t have any in the coffee shop so I do not believe it’s due to delivery issues more like cost cutting. The choice of cakes was better than when it was takeaway only but still not as good as it used to be and there is no patisserie even though it says there is on the website which has obviously not been updated so misleads customers. I would also like to mention they do not take cash in the coffee shop only card but they are happy to take it in their farm shop. How odd is that. You would think it was separately owned. Maybe the Queen needs to pay a visit to her coffee shop and see how it’s changed for the worse which is a shame as there’s easy free parking which is unusual in Windsor. We will not be returning though as there’s plenty of places better than this now. I have forewarned friends of our experience and they too were very suprised. If you just want a coffee and cake and easy parking it will be fine but don’t expect eclairs and fresh cream cakes or you too will be disappointed and don’t go with cash only or you will have to leave.

This was a lovely day out for lunch with my elderly parents. There was a lovely peaceful, rural atmosphere and you could see the herd of cows at the other end of their large field. The food was great! Lovely thick cut toasted sandwiches filled with plenty of ham and cheese, plus a side salad! The cappuccino was also perfectly made, it was both creamy and chocolatey. The comfy armchairs were appreciated by my father. As there is seating inside and out, we can visit any time of year. The only slight difficulty we had was the ease of access to the toilets - as my Mum is Disabled and I had to get her wheelchair through 3 sets of doors before entering the disabled toilet. I noticed afterwards that we could have gone around the outside. However, despite this minor issue, we all had a lovely time.

Despite being busy - this cafe underperformed to my expectations. Probably one of the worst coffees I’ve had in a long while. Not sure if the issue is training, machinery, type of coffee beans or a combination of all 3 - however I have a better coffee these days from a petrol station or a machine in a supermarket. As “The Coffee Shop” your coffee is likely the worst in Windsor so would like to see you up your game in this area. The other issue I have, the lack of public Wifi - it’s 2020 now and it’s a basic expectation for customers. I understand you’re likely trying to discourage business people due to the lack of tables - but being close to Windsor you’re no doubt attract international tourists wanting to log on and check-in with a picture their family eating scones with jam. Most other aspects of this cafe are not noteworthy including cleanliness, staff, environment - however what would be recommended is the breakfast. They do you on the most part - good quality food some of it being local too. There is also free parking here as-well which is a positive for me.

I had wanted to visit here for a while and yesterday popped in with friends on our way home to the southwest for a cup of tea. I can only confirm other reviews , my friend had already bought the tea and I decided to go for some cake. It was absolutely delicious ( orange and beetroot) , there was nobody else waiting... I couldn't believe how long it took to take the money and cut and serve a slice of cake. I would not like to be there when busy. The portions are generous ( cake) and the tea delicious. It's very close to the M4 so certainly worth stopping here as opposed to motorway services, which I avoid like the plague, if you are going by at the right time of day.

Passed this on the road a few times so dropped in for lunch. We had Windsor Pasty, quiche and toasted panini. Panini was described as poor with some under melted cheese in it. Quiche was good and the pasty was the star. Victoria sponge very good and Chelsea type pastry very good. But, as others say, it lacks atmosphere and needs work on the interior ambience which detracts. So pop in for a pasty and cake, you would struggle to go wrong with them

... ganado. This café sells good quality food at a fair price. A prawn mayonnaise sandwich was made using plenty of prawns and fresh, good quality bread accompanied by a decent salad-pretty good for £5.50. Their home made chicken and mushroom pie for £3.95 was also a good deal. They have an extensive range of very nice fresh cakes and good coffee served with china crockery-not something that can be taken for granted these days. We felt that this place does not share the cynical attitude some other, more expensive and poorer quality, establishments display towards their customers. The attached farm shop is full of great looking produce-not cheap but fairly priced for the quality.

Visited the Farm Shop Cafe for breakfast over the weekend with a group of friends who often visit and have praised the food here. I can't say I now share their glowing opinion. Service was incredibly slow. The tables outside were busy as it was a nice day but indoors was empty. We had to wait a long time for our food and prior to that had to clear our table before we could sit at it. I don't know if they were short staffed but there seemed to be only one lady bringing out all the food and then clearing tables as and when she had time. Which she didn't. When we ordered our food I asked the girl at the till if they did a vegetarian breakfast and had the rudest and most abrupt "NO" practically shouted at me. Maybe she was just having a bad day, maybe she was fed up of people asking if they did a veggie breakfast, maybe the Farm Shop should think about offering a veggie breakfast so their staff don't have to shout at people who ask for one? Who knows. Having been firmly put in my place I order the avocado on toast. I was completely unprepared for the sorry looking excuse for a dish that was served to me. I was presented with four slices of plain toast alongside a ramekin barely half full with chopped and unripe avocado. There was enough to cover maybe one slice of toast had it been soft enough to spread, which it wasn't. I should have complained at the time but I couldn't face the wrath of the girl on the till again. The group I was was couldn't quite believe my dish either. One of the other items on the menu was beans on toast, I'm wondering if you get served one bean per slice with the beans provided in a separate dish? I mean they could have at least put the avocado on the toast as was described on the menu. Only, then they would have realised how utterly pathetic it looked. I might email them with some serving suggestions to what avocado on toast should be like. Meanwhile, I'm not sure I'll bother again. Cakes looked quite nice though.

Whilst in a potentially great setting, and plenty of parking, the cafe is in a very poor state, in desperate need of a make over, both to the building, the interior and the food. The menu choice is very basic and not what we expected at all in a farm shop with such an illustrious name. Baked potatoes and the usual fillings or a microwaved steak pie with baked beans (£2 extra!) or a small salad, shows a complete lack of imagination. The farm shop itself is better, but expensive, and markedly unappealing having just come back from the markets of Provence.

There's also the farm shop to browse around like a mini Fortnum's.Suggested improvements would be some bike stands (which may exist but I haven't found them yet), introducing customer wifi and giving customers an option to have the paper receipt or not as a few of them end up blowing around outside.

Love the place but the restaurants prices are disproportionate compared to quality and portions are mean. Soups are served in small bowls compared to other classy places in Windsor I visited. I have been served there the weakest tasteless cups of teas and not certainly not the best of lattes or cappuccino (e.g. loads of foamy milk and coffee not so good). I would advise they would train their catering staff with experienced teas and coffee makers and stock fresher flavoursome tea bags. I enjoy browsing the shop though prices are prohibitive and enjoy going through their plants section area.

I noted that the cafe is currently recruiting for staff who can offer great customer service etc etc. Well if today's experience is anything to go by then I would sack the person responsible for delivering this critical function. Absolutely zero personality from anybody we tried to interact with - waiters, counter servers...and come to think of it, even those assistants in the farm shop looked pretty 'vacant'. Everything felt very 'processed' - a conveyor belt of activity that wasn't particularly efficient. Whilst the coffee was excellent, the food was forgettable - an OK sausage roll and marble cake that was bland, the chocolate tasting of that 1970's 'cooking chocolate'. It was raining outside and (overly) hot and steamy inside. All in all a big let down...

It's not often that a vegetarian writes a piece about sausage rolls. Do not fear, I've not succumbbed to a bit of pigs bum (royal or otherwise) I'm posting this on behalf of my husband, self proclaimed Connoisseur of baked goods, specialising in sausage rolls. At least once a year we take a trip to look at tall buildings; Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, you get the picture; Mr Husband likes architecture. However, his latest interest is a little less demanding financially & otherwise: finding the perfect sausage roll. I cannot begin to tell you how many establishments we have visited in his quest but strangely/conveniently the overall winner is the sausage roll that can be purchased around 6 miles from our doorstep. Windsor farm shop deli counter £2.25 (April '17) I'm reliably informed this is the perfect combination of crusty pastry and an excellently balanced meaty sausage. As an aside the recently refurbished Tea Room also does a very good lightly warmed scone.

The best meat in the south of EnglandPrimarily a farm shop stocking very fine cheese, bread, meat veg, fruit, cakes I am a terrible food snob and this is one of the finest shopping experience in the UK, the only one that beats it is the supermarket on Tresco Scilly Isles

Went today and the old lady serving at the motorway style counter took circa 15 minutes to serve the one person in front of me, together with her life story. Prices are off the chart, you are much better off going to the Cinomon Bun Cafe in Windsor itself

Building work is being undertaken at the moment. This means temporary loos in the car park and a much less pleasant experience in the cafe. No China cups, all paper plates etc. Also a reduced food offering. Due to the noise etc, not a very pleasant experience currently. Works due to continue for another few weeks, lets hope it then goes back to normal. Is normally very good for coffee and cake.

We have visited the Farm shop and butcher many times. The setting is comfortable al though at times - weekends - extremely busy. The presentation of the scones and pastries is unique and refreshing. A lovely Sunday outing.

Have not been here for several years. The service was poor and the quality of the food was a total disgrace . The microwaved pastys were dry and had carrot in . The Victoria sponge was dry and God knows what the filling was . A total waste of £27 avoid this place like the plague !

Such a fantastic selection of seasonal food gifts, booze and things just that little bit different from the norm. Top quality meat and deli counter. Ample parking, nice to sit outside the coffee shop in the Summer months too

This is a great little restuarant. There is free parking right outside, plenty of room inside, high chairs for kids AND amazing CAKES :) To be honest all the food is good. The sausage rolls are quality, ham salads - quality ham and the quiches are fantastic. Coffee is also nice here. It is a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. The only negative about this place is the speed of service, there is always a queue and it doesn't move very fast, they need to perhaps have a second till. Once you have ordered it doesn't take long to arrive at the table. This is a favourite place for pensioners to meet :)

Windsor Farm Shop is part of the Royal estate and probably the prices reflect that (you're paying for the name). Having said that prices are not particularly excessive and the quality is excellent. I visited after the main lunch period and while it was still busy there was a number of empty tables. The selection is good - pies, pasties sandwiches etc. all of very good quality. They could do with a little more organisation - 1 poor young man taking orders and preparing beverages leads to a queue. There did seem to be enough staff to make this two jobs.

We have eaten in the Windsor Farm Shop restaurant many times and just stopped for coffee even more times. The ambience is very relaxing and friendly, and you only have trouble getting a seat at busy times. In the summer they put tables outside as well. We do find it expensive for what you get (but the shop itself is also very expensive) and we tend to eat the same thing as the menu is limited. However, we keep going back as it is a nice atmosphere.

Very nice homemade style pies also available to buy in the farms hop. Quite reasonable prices considering the location and owner! The farm shop is also good for meat, cheese and fresh bread.

The food here was delicious. Whilst there isn't a specific children's menu, there are more than enough items on the menu to satisfy fussy eaters. Only gripe is that the door from the outside doesn't close quickly enough and on a freezing day, you get cold very quickly. Most people sat with their coats on, which is fine for a quick coffee, but for eating lunch, you probably want to take off a thick winter jacket.

We love the coffee shop, excellent cakes, savory treats, toasts, great coffee, tea. In the summer they have outdoor seating available. Not very much impressed with store. We thought it would have local products only but plenty foreign veggies can be found (e.g. Dutch tomatoes). Nice bread choice and very tasty. Prices are on the higher end. Some items are overpriced.

Popped in for lunch and have to say, this place is first class. Home made food, friendly staff and super value for money. The jacket potatoes are delicious with prawns and salad, pot of tea and a slice of cake for under £10! Really impressed and will be back, again and again.

Busy place, all home cooked. Ordered Steak & Kidney Pie, Salmon & Leek Tartlet, Soup & Roll, Tea & Coffee. All was good. Washrooms/toilets were clean. Foord served hot to you after you ordered. Cost was 21 pounds and 75p. $38.04 Cdn.We had a nice wander around the shop afterwards and it seemed a little pricey but product was good.

Visited the cafe/restaurant attached to the royal farm shop today. A lovely array of cakes of varying types on display but nothing other than soup or a baked potato for coeliacs or the those with a wheat intolerance (estimated at 500,000 people in the UK) Surely an operation attracting as many customers as this could manage to have one or two gluten free fresh cakes (not those ghastly lumps of cardboard wrapped in cellophane so often stocked by cafes). And if you are wheel chair bound access to the cafe is poor, across loose gravel, and doors that are heavily spring loaded making entry difficult. As for the toilets, with the Christmas tent in place at the moment, the only access to the lavatories is via the cafe, requiring other customers to move their chairs in order that a wheelchair can gain access to the toilet block. A nuisance for the able bodied and extremely embarrassing for the disabled. A narrow side passage which could have made access easy has been roped off.Not an outstanding experience. We won't be back in a hurry-sorry your majesty, someone needs a good kicking!

Reason parking and easy access. Adjacent to the food ahoo which sells good meats, veg and fresh breads along with other good christmas gifts. The food in tge cafe is good but a little on the pricy side. Be careful about opening times as on the Sunday we visited they should have been open till 5pm. But dont be fooled as they stop serving at 4.30pm. Not really very good for a business to stay open till 5pm but stop serving earlier. Bad news.

As somewhere that makes such a big deal about it's Royal connections one would hope that this place was professionally and pleasantly run. Unfortunately this is not the case. I have visited on a number of occasions, usually because it is one of the few places in the area where you can readily park and on other occasions when my companions have been curious to take a look at the place because of it's royal connections. The shortcomings have been consistent for years. Firstly the layout of the cafe is totally wrong. One long, snaking line up to the Single! till means that the wait is unreasonably long. This would be bearable were it not for the staff and the lack of organisation. There seem to be many staff members floating around studiously ignoring the waiting customers while just one member of staff takes the order (in an aggressive and unpleasant fashion). The clientele seems to consist primarily of a middle class, older customer base, many of whom appear to be OAP's. Yet, in spite of this seemingly compliant customer base the cafe displays signs informing the interminably queuing customers "that verbal abuse towards staff will not be tolerated". If the disorganisation of the place can inspire such customers as these to boil over in fury and frustration then they must be doing something very wrong! The food, when it arrives is nothing special. Unimaginative and rather boring, and the coffee is pretty poor. As an aside I also visited the Garden Cafe at Buckingham Palace last week, which is, on every level a superior, much better run establishment, with quicker service, better food and far superior coffee. One would have to conclude that the people who have mis-run this place for years have never visited a Pret, or other professionally run establishment with proper organisation, better trained staff and vastly superior food. Let's hope word of the shambles at the Farm Shop eventually gets back to a certain family at the Castle and they sort it out once and for all!

The shop has plenty of produce and some good quality meats and good quality chicken . The cafe is run by kids and some of them really don't want to be there. Tables take to long to be cleared and the standard of food is OK at best, the cakes are supermarket quality. You would think they would have a couple of senior switched on staff who could direct the kids a bit more, considering the name they are carrying you would of thought this would of been run a bit more seriously.

We called here for lunch on the way to our hotel in Old Windsor. The cafe was basic, a lot of pastry based products. We opted for a prawn sandwich - no brown or granary bread though! Shop across courtyard had loads! It was at best ok, not particularly tasty and the cappuccino was pretty tasteless too. I was told off for taking a couple of photographs of the outside of the building and the flowers! 'it is royal ground' is what I was told! Staff uninterested, tables messy.

Great local Farm Shop with a wide range of lovely produce in a smart setting. Staff are lovely, friendly and very enthusiastic about the stock. There is a butchery counter and lovely locally grown produce. the Coffee shop has developed over the years and is now a great spot for a nice latte and a vanilla slice after all that shopping. Lots of parking on site enabling larger groups etc to visit.

Expected a lot more from the Windsor Farm Shop particularly as the tour bus stops there. There are more plants and flowers for sale at your local Homebase, and you can get more farm produce including jams and honeys at nearby Savill Gardens. Looked spacious from the outside but not a great deal to see inside. There is a bland coffee shop too, again uninspiring. Definitely missable so stay on the bus!

We come here a few times a year , and never disappoint, all locally grown within Her majesty's lands at Windsor which reflects in the price but it's all organic and staff are friendly. Disappointed of their range at their cafe, a lot of cheese in everything which was so strong and heavy it gave us a bad belly ache. pity they dont do full English breakfasts and other dishes as they sell the ingredients opposite

Visited this place on Sunday and to be honest the prices they charge is astranomical. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Selling Rice Pudding in the farm shop for £3.95 wow the whole place is grossly overpriced. Then into the car park came the open top tourist bus the question was answered. The mark up is for the tourists. Avoid you can buy the same items elsewhere at half the price.
