Wimpy in Portsmouth

Retro experience! We enjoyed a trip back to the 70's. A Wimpy Burger and a 'Bendy', followed by a Mr Whippy ice cream. We went, tongue in cheek but it was actually very good. Really enjoyed it. We are now on a Wimpy tour of Great Britain!

Took the kids to here for a quick bite to be told that I wouldn't be served because I was carrying my 7 year old daughters scooter. Apparently it's Wimpy policy not to allow scooters on the premises. Despite the fact that I was clearly carrying it and wasn't looking to start doing stunts between the tables. Wimpy must be doing really well if they're willing to turn away paying customers because one of them is carrying their child's toy.

I found the service to be excellent and food was well cooked and hot. The staff are polite and friendly and I will be revisting soon.

I really enjoyed my cod chips and peas the service was excellent and food was excellent too. I definitely would eat here again Friendly staff too.

The service here was pretty slow the staff seemed to be making up the orders in slow motion. Having said that our food seemed freshly cooked so we were ok with the wait. They had a cheeseburger and chips deal on, we had that, burger ok, chips really good (and plentiful). Better than expected actually.

I arrived at Portsmouth Southsea Wimpy at 13.40pm on the 16/12/2023 with my sister and her son. I was served by the manager Barry for my first order and when I didn’t have money on my bank card to pay he then spoke to me in a rude attitude pointing to the card machine and was looking at his co workers and started to laugh at me making me uncomfortable. He then spoke to my sister in a rude away who was struggling with my nephew being upset which then made her to feel as doubting herself as a parent. When I asked where the toilet was I was completely ignored and had to follow the manager to ask again. My sister ordered the wimpy burger and the bread was stale and the food was cold. The Pepsi was also flat. Not happy at all Kind Regards Rachel

Food was quite expensive but really good. The decor is nice and the service was really fast :) the staff were really friendly too

Quorn chicken burger is delicious, however they always forget to add straws and chips can sometimes be undercooked

Decor is dated, grubby and scribbled on. The chips were chewy and lukewarm, the fish (despite being piping hot) was like one you can buy from the freezer section of a shop. The rest of the family had burgers in which looked rather dreary, but to their amusement they were okay.Despite this, the staff were friendly. The food is expensive given the bad quality.

La comida era pesada, las patatas fritas estaban frías / masticables y de textura harinosa, y las hamburguesas eran casi indomables. El personal fue lo suficientemente agradable, pero el chico realmente luchó para tomar un pedido de una comida de hamburguesa Quorn con Pepsi y una hamburguesa simple (sin salsa, lechuga, tomate, queso, por favor, ¿cómo puedes equivocarte con una hamburguesa simple en un pan? ) Y siguió haciendo preguntas, e. gramo. ¿hamburguesa de pollo? Hamburguesa con queso? Quizás fueron las máscaras. . . . . Sin mostaza, sin pajitas, todo el lugar está cansado, deteriorado, sin alma y debe comprarse, quitarse y renovarse. ¡Ojalá hubiéramos gastado nuestro dinero en otro lugar! !

Intento el bien con mi gente del trabajo. Algunos de ellos son personas vulnerables.Los precios eran más altos de lo que estaba escrito en el menú como comida.Al personal de hasta no le importó cuando les pregunté porque los precios son diferentes.También traen la comida sin escribir qué es ni explicar cuál es cuál.La comida se enfrió y esta es la última vez que piso este lugar.No vayas porque es lo peor.

No ves muchos Wimpy en estos días y ahora que he probado uno creo que entiendo por qué. Nada en contra del personal ya que compraron mi comida rápidamente y fueron muy amables. La hamburguesa que pedí era tan sosa. La salsa de hamburguesa que contenía, me sorprendió ver, también se vendían en la botella. ¡No sabía a nada! ¡Realmente me sorprendería si Wimpy logra vender una botella de esa salsa! Me temo que el estándar de la comida no era nada en comparación con sus competidores de comida rápida.

One of the things I like about Wimpy is that your food is freshly cooked rather than possibly hanging around for a while in fast food restaurants - Wimpy is good food cooked quicklyUnusually this Wimpy is not table service so you need to order at the counter, but your food is delivered to the table. Unusual again for Wimpy is the food being delivered in take away boxes rather than on plates as you might expect. This Wimpy is more geared towards takeaway with the option of eating in with quite a number of tables to choose from.One point to note is that the restaurant is located in an old building on the first floor with stairs for access so there is no easy access for disabled people.

No había estado en un Wimpy durante décadas, no volveré a estar en otro nunca más. Personal miserable, pésimas hamburguesas, restaurante congelado, absolutamente nada y para colmo, caro para lo que era.

Visité ayer un bocado como siempre prefería Wimpy sobre otros bares de hamburguesas y estaba muy decepcionado. El lugar estaba frío al igual que las hamburguesas y por qué, oh, por qué los bares de hamburguesas insisten en poner salsa de tomate en sus hamburguesas, no soy un amante de eso y si quiero salsa de tomate la usaré, echado a perder el sabor. Lo único bueno fue que las patatas estaban calientes. Vuelve, no tengas prisa.

Las primeras impresiones no fueron tan malas, es lo que es, una barra de hamburguesas en un muelle construido en el siglo XIX. El personal del mostrador era sorprendentemente desinteresado, descontento y le dio la impresión de que el cliente era una molestia para ellos.La comida tardó en llegar, parecía que había sido preparada por un grupo de monos y enormemente cara. Más de 20 por dos comidas de hamburguesas para lo que se sirve es francamente insultante.No hace falta decir que no volveremos nunca.

The food is always hot and the portion sizes are not too big or too small. Yes, you may have to wait for you food, but that’s only because it is cooked to order. The seating area is always very clean and tidy.

We went and had dinner very happy everything was alright food and services was very happy to have are dinner

We had a lovely meal and the staff were friendly with good customer service especially the manager Mandy. Will definitely go back when visiting Southsea again

First and last time here, older blonde member of staff especially rude, "food" cold and tasteless and odd rather nasty smell. Shame I used to love going to a Wimpy when I was a kid

Always nice to see a wimpy as not many around now. Friendly staff, fresh food & lovely milkshakes. Would definitely visit again.

I was served a burger which I can only describe as absolutely awfull. Tasted worse than a sodexho core menu meal. Made me feel sick for the rest of the day.

Words can't describe now bad this was. Staff picking as they prepared food and the burgers almost raw and like out of a tin. Chips were just ok but that burger was discussing and left there. Also dirty and worn. Avoid avoid.

I ate a quick lunch here on a weekend. It was fairly busy but the food didn't take too long to arrive. Burger was fairly ok, not much flavour and the chips were slightly cold. Chocolate milkshake was nice however.

Was starving, having just disembarked from the Hovercraft in Southsea. Had not been in a Wimpy since childhood, and very rarely want or fancy 'burger and fries'. Was pleasantly surprised. Quick friendly service, fresh and hot food.

Dejaron nuestra comida y también se olvidaron de nuestras paradas y si hubiera escuchado la forma en que la mujer que había sacado la comida le había hablado a mi novio, probablemente me habría quejado allí. ¡Solo evítalo y ve a un pub a comer una hamburguesa! Es una pena que Wimpy me devuelva esa nostalgia, ¡pero ahora tengo otros recuerdos!

La primera vez que estuve aquí y definitivamente la última, sobrevalorada por sus comidas. Las mesas estaban sucias, tuvimos que limpiar la nuestra y la silla alta, Smokey estaba allí por la cocina. El personal es miserable y no se ve feliz en el trabajo, alguien salió a limpiar las mesas y desechó la comida de la mesa con la mano en el suelo, sin el menor rastro de un paño en la mano para limpiar las mesas. Luego volvió a ayudar a servir, no a lavarse las manos ni limpiar las mesas correctamente. Debe ser un riesgo para la salud comer aquí.

Unbelievably rubbish. Dirty and old looking. Took over half an hour for our food. Then they forgot one of my childs meals, got one wrong and forgot one portion of chips. When it finally came out the sausages were burnt and chips really oily.

Was really good- ordered a Burger Meal and a Pepsi Max. Were both really nice, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some cheap, quick and easy food in Southsea. Everything was really good, and I would recommend this to anyone. Thanks.

We visited here at approx 1410 on 1st jan 19.

I was surprised that there was still a wimpy in the U.K. and I remember going as a child to the one in Elephsnt and Castle and the tall glasses of knickerbocker glory, and the hamburger and chips on plates with metal cutlery. I was so looking forward to reenact this fine dining (in my opinion) when I spotted the Wimpy in Southsea. Before I went in I was so excited and then.......suddenly shocked and disappointed sitting in this dirty restraunt, with grubby tables and chairs, dirty floors and young people serving without even a smile. It looked like they didn’t want to be there. It was s dirty resteraunt- something similar to a dated McDonald’s. I will never go there again. It was a very unpleasant experience more like grime dining than fine dining. I’ll never go there again - I’d much prefer to go to the local chippy and sit on the beach. If Wimpy paid and trained their young staff more, and if the service and cleanliness of the place improved then I may return, but until then I will steer clear of the place.

Happy memories of Wimpy from my childhood so went to recapture a bit of that but to no avail. Cheap and nasty and attached to an arcade. The past is best in the past!

Visited this restaurant this week and was a little disappointed with the result . The restaurant lack all the charm of the old restaurants. We ate in and was shocked there was no plates or knife and fork. Food was good but not the same

Tenían pescado y papas fritas y una hamburguesa simple que lograron estropear y hacer que fuera una hamburguesa de cebolla y como éramos los últimos en ser servidos no había nadie alrededor.

Staff - young lad at till totally disinterested and mumbling, staff at cooking stations eating the food rather than concentrating on cooking it. The food - stone cold chips, rank beef burger and inedible fish finger burger. The Pepsi Max was great - oh yes once my husband reminded the guy at the till to put it on the tray. Cleanliness inside restaurant and toilets far from an acceptable standard. Such a shame such a great location with great potential.

Hemos estado en Wimpy en Barnstable muchas veces donde las amistosas camareras te sirven en la mesa, la comida en Barnstable wimpy es fabulosa. Entonces, cuando nos dimos cuenta de que había un debilucho aquí en el mar del sur, estábamos emocionados. Vaya, qué horrible, sucio, grosero y horrible, pero, si la gente usa este cobarde, se desilusionará de por vida. . . . tan molesto que incluso nos molestamos?

Pensé que probaríamos un Wimpy que no había tenido uno durante años y realmente desearía no haberlo hecho. I hadn't been in a Wimpy for years although I have fond memories so passing this one I was looking forward to visiting.

Couldn't comment on the food as we didn't get served. Ignorant waitress emptying a bin. We waited patiently at first. Totally ignored. Asked if they were serving. Not sure what the 'grunt' was. By that time we had decided to leave. If they don't want to work there then leave.

I love a Wimpy but sadly this one is past it's best. The premises are just so run down and the droning music from the arcade downstairs doesn't help. A refurbishment and deep clean is desperately needed and the stickers need to come off the windows to let more light in.

For a bit of nostalgia I thought whilst at southsea I would visit the wimpy. I wished that I never had. I had a 1/4pounder with bacon and it was vile. The burger was like cardboard, no flavour at all, hard and dry. The bacon was black!

We had taken our goddaughters to Southsea for the day and took them to Wimpys for a treat. What a disappointment. Although the staff were very friendly, it wasn't the Wimpy I was expecting. Poor man's McDonald's, although not poor man's McDonald's prices. Looking at their menu online and the menu on offer were two different things entirely. If, like me you remembered Wimpys of old, this isn't the place for you.

Recuerdo los días cuando un viaje a Wimpy era un lujo y un restaurante de comida rápida que mucho mejor los gustos de McDonalds. . . . . Cómo han cambiado los tiempos en ese caso! Después de una hora o así al lado en Pirata Pete, los niños estaban hambrientos y pedir chippies y hamburguesas así en que fuimos. Un montón de mesas y sillas que es obviamente una positiva, sin embargo, bastante difícil de encontrar en cualquier otro positivo. El personal parecía miserable y claramente no quería estar allí, un gerente estaba realizando entrevistas para nuevo personal entre gente comiendo y hablando, no el ambiente más profesional para ser realizando entrevistas. La comida era extremadamente decepcionante, no esperar tanto para la comida que habíamos pedido y que estaba bien caliente cuando llegas. Por desgracia era terrible, ninguno de nosotros terminado nuestras comidas y comimos una cantidad muy pequeña antes de salir. Yo creo que la mejor manera de describir sus hamburguesas es "artificial" que no estaba seguro si durante el bocado de mi hamburguesa que era incluso carne!

Difficult one this....... First time in a wimpy since childhood had very fond memories but although clean with very friendly staff.the food was disappointing with a distinct used fryer oil taste to the chips and the burger was poor.

Waiting an hour for pretty mediocre food.... absolutely abismal service. Would not recommend at all.

Me and my wife decided to pop in with our two year old daughter as I have fond memories of Wimpy as a kid, so was looking forward to a nice lunch with the family. When we arrived, we grabbed a table to find that half of the chairs had ketchup smeared all over them. After finding some clean chairs, my wife went up to order. There were only three or four young girls working and it was obvious that none of them wanted to be there. After taking our order, my wife was told they couldn't take a debit card because the machine was broken and could we pay by cash. After saying that we only had a card, the girl huffed at my wife in frustration and went off to get a working card machine without a word or a smile. We were then told to go and sit down and they would call our number when the food was ready in 5 minutes or so. We waited 35 minutes before we were called, which angered me as the girls behind the counter seemed more interested in helping themselves to food and drink and laughing about, rather than cooking and serving customers (we were not the only families left waiting). 35 minutes for two burgers and a couple of kids sausages just isn't on...especially when you have a hungry and impatient two year old to feed! Eventually our number was called, but no apology for the delay...in fact, not even a smile! The tray was thrown on the counter and left for me to get it! I thought it couldn't get any worse until I opened the food! Luckily my burger was nice, but my wife's was served in a soggy brown bun which was broken into three pieces. It was such a mess, she had a couple of bites and had to throw it away! For our daughter, we ordered two sausages with a side salad. Well, we ended up getting two burnt sausages and a box of plain lettuce, half of which was brown! When we went up and asked where the rest of the salad was, the girl behind the counter just said they run out of everything so only had lettuce left...again no apology; she just turned her back and went back to chatting with her friends behind the counter. I cannot believe how badly the service and cooking was. Seriously, the girls working should be sacked and replaced by people who know what good customer service means. We definitely won't be going back to this Wimpy ever again and I would advise others to stay clear too. £16 for two bags of cold chips, two burgers (one in a soaking wet and broken bun), two burnt child's sausages and a box of brown lettuce! To top it off, the sausages were so burnt that our daughter broke the plastic fork trying to pick it up and nearly choked on it...luckily we caught it in time and removed the sharp plastic from her mouth. I wish I had got some photos to post on here, as I am seriously in disbelief of how bad our experience was.

we went there for the first time we take are kids in the soft play all the time but never eaten in there as thought prices were a bit high, but gave it a this time have to say was very nice the burgers were all fresh and very tasty cost £39.40 for 7 of us which I did think as quite a lot but the food and staff made up for the price , very lovely and friendly young ladies that serviced me, just a shame there ice cream machine wasn't working as kids as looking forward to that

This place seems trapped in a time warp, desperately in need of redecoration but still not done. Ordering was difficult as the person serving kept on making mistakes and overcharging. We had a Beanburger meal deal, but the server tried to charge for all the items individually so pay attention to what you are charged. The food was O.K. as a stop gap, but we did not pluck up the courage to use the toilets.There were only two other customers at peak lunch time, I wonder how this place survives.

While the food was what we expected (fast food, the usual, no complaints there), I have never come across a more miserable group of staff. Not a single smile spotted during our visit. A funeral home would have had a more cheerful atmosphere. Not made to feel valued or welcome at any point and the girl on the till couldn't have looked more bored if she tried. I won't be going back any time soon.

Totally outdated decor and furnishings. Slow service even though it was nearly empty.Staff not very welcoming. I dont really know if I can call it food but although I refuse to eat McDonalds , this was a lot worse. Not very cheap to eat there.

Restaurant is above arcade on the sea shore. Burger was pretty much disappeared after they piled on the lettuce and sauce. But it was tasty. Son's nuggets were actual white chicken and was actually pretty good. Not best in decor but the staff was friendly. There are better places for a burger but it was convenient and not too expensive.

Can you believe it! Wimpy still exists! There's one above the arcade at Clarence pier and the best thing is, you can ditch your children in Pirate Pete's and scoff down a bender-in-a-bun and chips while they wear themselves out. Happy days!I always liked Wimpy more than Maccy D's or Burger King......

myself, parter and friend visited this places yesterday and considering all paid together the food took nearly twenty minutes from the first being ready to the last being served. the food was cold, tasteless.The staff crew was rude, obnoxious and dirty. None of the staff wore hair nets in there, i could see staff members with dirty uniform and nail varnish on.AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

To start on a positive note. They do a passable bean burger and cook to order, they will also change the fizzy drink in a meal deal for a cup of tea.The negatives, the coffee tastes like nothing on earth have tea! the building is awful, shabby, falling apart and dirty. The toilets were the worst I have used in years. A woman made sure you were a customer, the roof was leaking and the floor soaking wet, the previous user had not even flushed!!!!! The entire building needs to be demolished and rebuilt

short summary as can't be bothered with them after a terrible visit. -they lost our order-55 minutes after we ordered food was received-one item was wrong-one burger had a freezing cold bun at the bottom (straight out of the freezer kind of cold)-no apologies-no token gesture offered-no complementary refill for the three children with us on one of the hottest days of the year-dirty tables-dirty floors-'secret toilets'OVERALL A WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY, GRAB A BURGER FROM A VENDOR OUTSIDE. I hadn't seen a Wimpy for years. Something from my days in post school education in the early 80s. So went in to see if it had changed... Nope! Still a bad burger... But somehow familiar so many years on. For old time sake it was worth a visit but not for a good burger! Having said that my 7 year old woofed down the Wimpy burger.

Wimpy is my burger of choice I could be classed as an expert taster over the last 40 years but this Wimpy is by far the worst ive ever eaten at. Dirty tables staff that couldn't careless all in all a disappointment.

Out with the grandchildren for the day, we stopped at wimpy for lunch.Burgers were tasteless, my granddaughter sausages were dry.I was more than surprised to see all the girls serving and cooking all had long hair and not one of them was wearing a hairnet, or had their hair up

After waiting for almost 25 minutes for our food when we got it it was terrible, not that hot, taste was awful and definately not appertising. Would never go there again. No wonder there are hardly any Wimpy's about any more.

This Wimpy is located on Clarence Pier above the arcade. Going into this restaurant was like stepping back in time, due to the old fashioned tables and seating. The staff were quite friendly, and brought the food to my table after it had been cooked. I decided to have the lemon and pepper Quorn Burger Meal. Wimpy is the only major fast food chain which sells Quorn burgers. My burger consisted of lemon and pepper crumbed Quorn in a white bun with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. The burger did taste nice, but the meal was a bit pricey for fast food. The total cost of the meal was £6.16 (Quorn Burger, chips and Pepsi drink).
