Delightful hidden gem, superb landlady and friendly service. We enjoyed a business lunch outside in the pub garden but I have been there before an adore the charming interior especially the room with all the books. Wonderful range of drinks, wholesome traditional food. This place is a gem and very near the pedestrian bridge to Windsor at the end of Eton High St (close to Cote) tucked away down a lovely side street.

Have been here several times before as it is a great meeting point for me and my friends. I have never had a problem at this pub on previous visits, but today was absolutely outstanding!! Greeted by a lovely, welcoming, polite, smiling host called Louise. Ordered my beer as my two friends had already arrived and got theirs and sat with them in the garden area. We chose food, one had the prawn salad ciabata and a portion of chips, one had the scampi and chips, I went for the sausage ciabata and a portion of chips. It wasn't a long wait before the food came to table. The portion sizes are very considerable and I had difficulty eating all of mine which is a HUGE shame as it was delicious made with clearly great produce, which is definitely a big improvement on previous visits. The range of beers etc has also greatly improved. The outside of the pub now looks tremendous whilst the inside still maintains an oldie world charm, whilst being spotlessly clean and welcoming. It was also very busy 😍 Would I recommend this place? Definitely!!! Great staff, great beers, great food, friendly, clean and reasonably priced!!

Enjoyed a return visit to this lovely pub recently. Inside is quaint and full of character with a huge selection of drinks. We sat outside for lunch as it was a warm day and although they are repainting we know from experience how nice the beer garden is. We were served by the Louise who was so friendly and welcoming. The menu has a great choice and I had the Ploughmans which was massive and partner had Scampi. Both meals were delicious and good value. We will look forward to visiting again next time we are in Windsor.

We held our Christmassy wedding reception here. Gillian was great in organising and the lead up to the evening - nothing was a problem, she was on hand to advise on food and drink options, any questions answered quickly, we felt completely confident and reassured all the way through. The staff were great on the night, serving the delicious and buffet, clearing glasses, smiling, chatting, much like with Gillian, nothing was an issue for them. Whilst the reception was in the function room we also had the use of the rest of the pub, which is a lovely 16th century cosy pub The food was tasty The beer and wine flowed The room was ideal for the 80 or so people dancing the night away The only minor issue was with people singing at the top of their lungs it pushed the DJs noise limiter over the threshold cutting the music system out. This happened a few times. Didn’t take anything away from the evening though. We were there from 4pm until midnight, loved every minute

We booked the Watermans Arms for our wedding reception having gone here often as locals for food and drinks. Gillian couldn't have been more helpful when we were figuring out what we wanted, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a buffet for approx 85 people. The food was gorgeous and lots of guests commented on how nice it was. Every bite was enjoyed (a shame for us as we hoped to take home snacks!), but we did go home with some lovely cheeses. Very reasonably priced, especially given the location and time of year (early December). Can't thank Gillian and the staff enough for making our day so special and looking after us - they were so efficient and everything ran smoothly. Would recommend for any sort of celebration! Will be back soon for a pint! :)

The pub is in a quiet area at the end of a road near the bridge from Windsor to Eaton. It a small pub with a good choice of beers which are good and not too expensive. Nice welcome. Will visit again on our next visit to Windsor and Eton. Only slight complaint was it was cold as no central heating , only a small log fire in one room. There is an outside seating area which must be nice in the summer.

This glorious little pub, cosy, friendly, and traditional in every way, still has wood burning fires in the winter! The only pub in the locality with an open fire to warn you. Bring the children to see it. Most will never have seen a real open fire indoors. Like steam trains and steamrollers, meaningless to youngsters. Let them put a fresh log on it, under supervision! Eat drink and be merry. Best of Old England just over the Thames from Windsor Castle, walking across into Eton and turn left the few more steps to the side door of The Watermans Arms! What will you all have inside, even coffee? Personally I go for the Ale!

How can I do justice in explaining this disastrous experience? I booked a table for 10 people for our family to celebrate my wife's birthday. I was so keen for everything to go smoothly that I rang back a couple of days before to ensure that the booking was OK. On both occasions I spoke to a Scottish lady who did not make feel at all confident that the booking was being handled professionally. When we arrived, we were told there was no booking for 10 people. I was met with indifference and apathy from the staff, who eventually found the booking and claimed it had been cancelled due to a 'miscommunication'. One of them offered a 20% off voucher to get rid of us to another pub in the same group. This gave us a problem in that the members of our party, including four young children, were arriving from different directions. We all eventually arrived at the second pub, and were greeted with a warm welcome - so different to the Watermans Arms. None of us will set foot in this pub again. Book a table at your peril.

Myself and a large party of friends and family recently visited the Waterman's arms on New Year's Eve after a local walk around Eton. We took advantage of the function room that was available to host our party and enjoyed a selection of various bar snacks and kids meals which were all devoured and everybody fully enjoyed. Every one in our party had a great afternoon and the staff at the pub were very welcoming, especially given the large number in our group. A huge thank you to Kerry and Jordan at the bar for all their help and hospitality during our stay. This is a great pub and we will definitely be coming back very soon.

We celebrated our wedding here in November and the staff absolutely blew us away with how brilliant they were. The pub is gorgeous any way but Gillian and her staff decorated it for us with bits we bought and demonstrated how we'd like it: it was transformed beautifully and they really put effort and thought into it! The buffet food was delicious - so fresh, piping hot, everyone remarked how great it was so thank you to Sarah and the kitchen staff. The bar and waiting staff also worked so hard and were just brilliant on the night. They could not do enough for us before or during the event. Thank you so much guys as you helped make our wedding day what it was. Also would like to add we had come in a few times with family for lunch and drinks throughout the year which was also perfect whenever we were in Windsor or Eton. Always lovely wine and beer and the best pies and roasts too!

This is a nice, friendly traditional pub with a good selection of beers. The pub is a nice, old fashioned pub let down by miserable, rude bar staff who act like they are doing you a favour by serving you. I was going to complain to the Manager when I found out that the rude barmaid WAS the manager. She never smiled once, was very rude EVERY time I was served by her. I have never felt the need to leave a bad review in my life but the service was so bad I felt I needed to. This public house should rethink who they employ as I wouldn’t go back here again and I’m sure I’m not alone!

We were looking for a 'proper' pub to host a retirement party and were lucky enough to come across the Watermans Arms. It is a historic, traditional pub, just a short hop across the footbridge from Thames Street in Windsor. Booking the function room was easy and Gillian and Malcolm were really helpful in the run-up to the event. On the day, everything went well, with a good selection of ales for our guests, friendly staff and excellent catering. Several of our guests commented on what a great place this was to hold a party. We would definitely recommend.

We’d been here several times in the past and found the pub grub style menu fine and they served a decent selection of beers. On this occasion we arrived around 5pm of a Friday evening and no food was being served and the barman didn’t offer any information on if they might, in fact he seemed to be doing his very best the whole time we were there to hide away. We settled for the time tested crisps and peanuts and then went elsewhere to eat. Despite there being plenty of different hand pulled ciders on offer there was just the one Windsor & Eton beer plus one from Cornwall of all places, then a selection of the usual fizzy tap beers, so this was pretty disappointing. Wouldn’t rush back here, a disappointing experience after many years of this being our usual place to visit if in the area.

There were few healthy options on the menu. We had thought s the seafood basket would be nice but there was no option for vegetables or salad. Most of the basket was filled with chips which were nice but all the seafood was over battered and cooked with only a small selection compared to the chips. I only ate a third of them and there were many left! Friendly service but basic seating in a small outside area. Inside was also limited. Disappointing.

Called them up to be told everyone needs to provide a negative covid test. For 50+ people that is really unfair and for us to organise that. Usually excellent, we dropped in here for a pub meal and drinks circa 6 pm on a Thursday, all the signage up outside showing specials, even an ‘A’ frame board had been put out with food being served. We walked in and were greeted by a very pleasant lady, she showed us to the courtyard and we sat down. We ordered our drinks via the app and when they were delivered we asked about food ‘no problem was the answer’, another round of drinks later and we were told there had been a problem with the chef that day so no food!!! We were however welcome to go to the sister pub, we did and it was terrible!

Arrived at the premises at approximately 11.45 to be greeted by an extremely rude lady scolding us like we were school children for arriving early and entering the beer garden by the wrong entrance. Visited this pub for the 1st time having lived in Windsor for many years. The little garden area was lovely and a real sun trap. The online ordering system for drinks is good and works well. Just as it describes itself, this is the epitome of an old English pub but for us, it lacked atmosphere. The pub was quite empty and unfortunately there was a rather loud male chatting incessantly to the bar man at a very loud volume. We almost felt like we were intruding in a private meeting. It's quite quirky inside with ample seating and a number of separate rooms, including an outside area. We noted that they were strictly adhering to the COVID requirements which was reassuring. They have quite a decent range of beers which was nice but we didn't feel an urge to linger. We didn't eat here but did notice that the menu is full of the usual pub staples, ie., everything with chips! It's nice enough but not a pub we would visit again, it just lacked something.

We had been recommended this pub from the lockkeeper at Brays lock who said it was a great little hideaway and reasonable prices. He wasn’t wrong! We visited for a drink and were greeted whole heartedly by the barman on our entrance and found a nice place by the bar. The ambience is fabulous, perfect for relaxing with light rock music in the background - perfect for a nice quiet drink, it really was. We ordered a pint of the Waterman’s ale (which was a great, coffee tasting dark bitter) and a Pimms which was by far the best Pimms I had ever had. We stayed for 2 drinks with the barman chatted to us whilst carrying on his duties- definitely a man who enjoys his job. Toilets were well presented, fresh smelling and clean. The pub offers food at a reasonable price but we had food ready at home so didn’t stop for food. The pub also has board games for customers to play and a book/dvd/cd area for sales for charity. Brilliant place, can’t recommend enough!

We had a family meal here on a Saturday night. It is a very busy pub with little eating space. When we arrived there had been an error with our table which was quickly rectified, the waitress was extremely apologetic and it did not affect the rest of our evening. Out of five of us, four are vegetarian and the options were excellent. We were all able to have something different which was a lovely touch. The food is a good size but can only be described as decent pub food. There was little space at the bar and when we ordered more drinks during the meal had to pay the waiter at the table which was quite odd. All in an all a decent pub with plenty of veggie options!

Just got back from having a lovely Saturday lunch. Firstly the positives. This is a very cosy traditional pub with a fascinating collection of books to thumb through. The food was excellent, I had the vegan burger and my partner had the chicken pie.

Booked a table for a Saturday bite to eat for a group of friends. Very helpful with our booking, changing numbers up to the last moment. The Watermans is an an old fashioned pub, I wouldn't say it's quaint but it does have a lot of character. Wide range of good pub food and beer. All served promptly and piping hot. Manager and staff very helpful and made for a relaxing lunch. Parking can be an issue on a Saturday, we found a spot in a pay and display car park about 60m away.

We stopped off here for a quick drink. The place is stacked full of books and ornaments, nik naks etc. theres plenty to look at. This pub would be great in the summer as it has a really nice courtyard garden.

A lovely pub, friendly people, and delicious fare. The warm cider is another plus, and the open fire was very warming.

The food was tasty and nicely presented, only it was NOT 'hand carved honey roast ham' it was thinly sliced, pre formed, processed ham. Big let down.

Recently held a party for around 40 people of mixed ages here. All the staff members were very accommodating, helpful and polite. Thank you Gillian, Mosie, Isobel and everyone else. The food was great value for money and good quality. They even threw in hot chips for free! Will definitely use this place again if we hold an event like this.

We were recommended to try this pub and found it tucked behind the Main Street and a bit off the beaten path. Signs outside said dog friendly, and they were.

A lovely old fashioned 17th Century English pub, with friendly staff, a good bar and pub grub at surprisingly reasonable prices for such a famous location. The old photos on the walls are well worth looking at. There is also a small outside area to enjoy in good weather.

Lovely afternoon here recently drinking wine and just soaking up the September Sun in the pub garden. Quaint riverside pub that was very cosy looking inside, the wallpaper in the Ladies was all of dogs, in fact, apparently, the pub actively welcomes dogs.

Booked a table for a sunday carvery for 1.30pm. It is a very cramped dark place old furniture that needs up cycling or replaced. We paid for the carvery when we ordered our drinks. When we went to get our food it was scraps that was left the beef was dry & very chewy they had ran out of a lot of the veg which is not good when you had paid full price for a carvery. When we mentioned this to the chef carving the meat he said everything had gone & this was all that is left. If they knew this why take your money another thing there was a dog (not a guide dog) sitting at the next table with the barmaid coming over feeding it food. I would not bring my dog into a restaurant. My other half had a Kronenburg it was awful tasted watered down or left over slops when i took it back the barmaid said 'well ive been serving it all day' looking around other customers had bottled beer or cider.we were very disappointed especially after reading good reviews. I would not recommend this place

We were staying the night in Eton and wanted somewhere to get a drink and a bite to eat. The British tapas menu invited us in as we set up at a table outside. It wasn't very set up for kids (I know not everywhere is) but they didn't even have a highchair or a baby change facility so I had to change my daughter on the bathroom floor.

After all day shopping on a hot day my husband and I decided to stop in this pub for a quick beer. My 12-year old daughter who was with us got food before for later when we get home. So we ordered 2 beers at the cost of £11.45 and hot wings but the waiting time for chicken wings was too long (25- minuets) so just ordered beers. We took a first sip of beer and my daughter ask if she can have her food ( Chinese chicken Strips) I said yes. A minute later lady that was serving us approached and in Very rude way and a face expression that could kill said to put the food away NOW because it was not purchased in this pub then she pointed with her finger on to the walls and said see there are cameras there and there (I didn’t see any where we were sitting) then she walked away.

We visited twice, once on a Fri afternoon and once on a Saturday afternoon, having just moored up this is the first pub you come to and it looks fabulous. The staff were very friendly and served us quickly, we soon found a table on both occasions in the busy courtyard That is a little cramped as tables are very close together but this adds to the character.

We had popped in 2 weeks ago whilst moored up. We sat inside this very quaint quirky pub, which had a very relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed a couple of drinks. We were moored again this Wednesday and visited again, but as it was so hot we sat in the small garden at the back.

We are on a boating holiday on the Thames, we had been shopping in Windsor to get provisions and just popped into the Watermans Arms on our way back for a drink, what a lovely pub,We were served by Mo and may I say what a lovely lady. We had a couple of drinks in the beer garden, Mo could not of been a better hostess, We Would definitely recommend anybody popping in there for the hospitality and a very good ale.

It is lovely Pub with a good selection of beers and wines and a diverse clientele, pleasant music and staff. Prices are quite high but based on its location that is to be expected. My wife and I often visit the Watermans when we moor our boat on the Brocas.

Excellent pub and eatery. Great food and very good cask ale. The owners have obviously worked extremely hard to make it safe and warming for people to visit. The owners and staff make you feel very welcome.

My friend and I found this little gem of a place by chance while in the area Geocaching. This place was so good! With a warm welcoming atmosphere. The management and staff were friendly and courteous throughout. It has a beautiful outdoor garden with a lovely aroma and a paved area with tables under a trellis with foliage, it is pretty, and just opposite the river Thames. They also have a playground nearby with a small crazy golf. The breakfast was value for money. With no frills and no fuss, everything is freshly cooked to order. Great location with good parking £5 for the whole day We will certainly be back when in the area again
