Turners Fish Restaurant in South Holland

Called in on 30/3/24 whilst visiting Spalding. We had our usual cod and chips which were great, as always. It is good to have fish and chips reminiscent of my boyhood in the 50s Peterborough when fish and chips tasted so good. I also remember coming to Turners on tulip parade days in the 50s and 60s as a lad. As I said in my previous review from our last visit in December - it is always good to come here for decent and proper fish and chips as there are none in St Neots.

Sheddies is great for a whole host of reasons. A great service always with a smile and a reputation that makes it wholly local through and through. I spent my school years coming here on my lunch break with friends, to adulthood coming here on my lunch break with colleagues. Special attention to the gravy which is smooth and had me wanting it as a drink rather than a condiment. I know people who come down from London and head straight to Sheddies every time - it never disappoints!

I live in London and always come here to visit when I see my Dad. This is hands down the best fish and chips you will try in Lincolnshire and beyond. Always go for a large cod and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce and am never disappointed. The fish is battered to perfection and is always tasty and crisp. The people of Spalding are lucky to have a place such as this on their doorstep.

Been going to turners for must be nearly 30 years always great, personally love the 2 local battered sausages and chips, fish is away good also for when I fancied something different. Do miss the green lime drink though. Very good servers who are always polite.

We would like to take this opportunity to say that the cod and chips at Turners are always cooked just how we like them.The portions are never small. The staff are very pleasant and polite. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Fish was far too greasy for me and well too many scraps on the chips. Drinks too expensive. The menu NEVER changes and access for disabled is rubbish. I'd love this restaurant to get into the 21st Century and provide fritters and vegan and gluten free options. No wonder people use Wetherspoons just down the road. It's much cheaper.

We called in for lunch on 30/12/23 and had our usual cod and chips. Perfect, as always. Friendly service and the boss visiting tables to greet his customers in the good old fashioned way. It is always good to come here for some decent fish and chips as there are none in St Neots ! Happy new year, all.

Really disappointed in the portion sizes. Fish portions were very small and the size of a "large" portion of chips were tiny. The lady serving was also ignorant. She crammed in 10 packets of food into one carrier bag after I asked for her not to squash all our food in. The bag split and I asked for it to be replaced and our food to be spread out over 2 bags, I was completely ignored and the lady just crammed all the food again into a second bag by double bagging the original. When I got the food home all the chips were all stuck together and stuck to the packaging. Really disappointed with our service and food.

I have heard many people say how they love Turners but I was left disappointed, The staff are great but the food is nothing special. The chips are good but the batter on the fish is soft and only crispy at the ends.

Fantastic Fish and Chips every time. Sat upstairs in the restaurant next to the window. Great tasting food cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Definitely recommend. Bread rolls are from the bakery nextdoor.

Have been visiting Turner's for 30 odd years. Food is amazing, the team are super friendly and feels very family orientated. It is what it is, nothing pretentious about it, just a fantastic chippy 👏 love seeing the older generation visiting regularly too, my grandparents and parents have had some wonderul experiences here!

Standard Chippy. Prices are ok & the fish is good although takeaway chips can be clumpy & limp. Very different from eat in chips which whilst never crisp always seem to be fresh.

Wow, Clare's birthday with family 28th September, 9 plus a little un. 9 clean plates, plus a small one clean, fab welcome as usual, allowed to bring our "Green pop in" limeade. I had large Haddock and the freshness stood out, lovely big flakes, light gorgeous batter. Those who know me also know I never give top marks....well there's a first from me I guess. I find there is always room for improvement...I cant find any here....its keeping it up there which is the trick. Excellent value for money....Thanks to the whole crew and see you again very soon (I hope)

The first time we thoroughly enjoyed it but the following two times we were so disappointed in the size of the fish. The fish was very small on the second and third visit. Approximately half the size of other places. The waiting time was so long as well. Don't like leaving a poor review but was asked to leave one .

Used to visit on a regular basis however won’t be returning again. Myself / family would always order a large to share with my 3 year old and we would be provided with a side plate. On this occasion I was told no side plate was allowed (and she won’t eat a full meal so I’m not ordering a child’s one). I asked why as it had never been a problem before to be told “management said we aren’t allowed”. I was close to walking out at this stage but thought no don’t ruin it as I promised my little one fish and chips together. The food took quite some time to arrive and when it did it was very greasy. I had to put my little ones on napkins as I had no choice and you can imagine how that went with the grease. I was asked if I wanted any sauce and only provided with one- even though there were two of us. On top of this the floor wasn’t clean and definitely needed sweeping and cleaning between customers. If I’d have noticed this before eating I probably wouldn’t have stayed. Such a shame.

Long while since visiting this very popular fish restaurant. Very busy and I'd forgotten how the quality of the freshly cooked Fish and Chips remains very good. Been completely redecorated since last there some 4? years ago.

Popped past it and my partner Clare nearly jumped out the car!...she used to visit Turners over 40 years ago with her father. So we popped in and went upstairs. Clare was beside herself with excitement and she wasn't to be disappointed. We both had Fish n Chips. I had Haddock Clare had Cod, mine was a large, I had a pot of tea and Clare had a Diet Coke......all for less than £27. So was it worth it, we're already planning a return but bringing her brother to relive lovely memories. An absolute gem of a place......and believe me I am a really harsh critic!

The worst fish I have tasted very very dry .the wife said that the pie was the worst thing ever .cheese pie with bacon in it .it was very very very expensive. Will not go back again. From fleetwood visiting family. Used to live here 25years ago .

Great tasting fish and chips good portion to and lovely staff

I have just had tea in the restaurant & was so impressed with the girl that served us. Her name was Cassie & she is perfect at her job. I went to the toilet after she took our order & she decided not to serve us until I was back so it was deliciously hot. We also had 2 pots of tea & she suggested bringing the first one with our meal & waiting until we wanted the other pot so it stayed nice & hot. Could not of had better service...Well done Cassie &Turner's chip shop. We will be back again soon 😊

Simply the best fish and chip shop restaurant for miles around.

Great food at very reasonable prices served by friendly staff. Husband opted for steak pie, which he declared was the “best pie ever”. The restaurant was spotlessly clean as were the toilets. Highly recommended.

All round great place to eat. Took my dad out for his birthday and he really wanted some fish and chips, so I asked around and Sheddys came highly recommended. And they really exceeded expectations. Not only was the food really good, the service and staff was amazing. Very friendly and make every single customer feel very welcome. Wouldhighly recommend.

Can you please update your opening times as your website states open all day until 8pm but you close at 2pm & open again at 4pm

Nothing wrong with food taste wise , but sausages where cold , and as for portion size my child would still be hungry , asked if they could batter a fishcake for me and she laughed at me , I thought this was a chippy , my local chippy TATES would always batter it .Back to wat we know I suppose .

We visited again whilst visiting Spalding on 5/11/22 and had our usual cod and chips with two drinks. Nice and freshly cooked and cod very tasty and juicy. Usual excellent, friendly service. Looking forward to our next visit.

A proper old seaside fish and chip restaurant, nowhere near the sea! Like stepping back in time. Family run takeaway and restaurant in the centre of Spalding. Fairly limited menu, but the food they do offer is sublime. The blackened peas are well worth a try!

The staff: not unfriendly but poorly trained it seems e.g. table not properly cleaned. Food: plentiful and reasonably priced. Little effort re presentation. It's the little things that make the difference. With a little tic this place could be really good.

Not quite five stars as they don’t do skinless Haddock - only Cod. However, the bread roll was fresh (and actually comes with real butter not cheap margarine). The soft drinks come from a dispenser and this is why one foolish reviewer below commented you’re unable to pour them yourselves - of course you’re not able to, just as you’re not able to pour your own Pint in a Pub! The food was cooked fresh, hot and well presented. Portions were reasonable (but I’m not an overweight north eastern bred person) so this was ideal. Prices were on the higher side, but the place has had a recent refurbishment and attentive staff so this made it good value overall. Well worth the trip to.

in manchester and have been craving sheddies bread rolls and chicken nuggets for weeks. its all i can think about. i absolutely ADORE your food and honestly this is the best chippy i’ve EVER been to. best in england. probsbly best in the universe. when i die and go to heaven i know i will be greeted by your chip shop. coming back on friday with the sole purpose of coming to sheddies. if the fact that im willing to spend £100 on train tickets to eat here doesnt prove it i dont know what will prove to the people reading this to go here. i promise u will not regret it

i came here and had cod, chips and mushy peas in the restaurant, ive been here a few times now, and i have never been disappointed by the food or service. The staff are always so friendly. Keep up the excellent service and delicious food.

Myself and my friend went in on Saturday. We have eaten here before and as always it is very clean. We chose fish (Cod) and chips from a varied and reasonable priced menu. The drinks are a little high priced though. We chose milkshakes which were lovely and a can of fizzy drink. Extras were 2 bread and buttered rolls and mushy peas. The fish was golden and luscious and the chips were tasty. Well worth a visit. Up and downstairs seating. Covd rules in place. Very friendly and polite staff. Customer service excellent.

Went there for a quick meal with my little boys and was very welcomed at the door by the staff. Had my meal in the restaurant and the waitress was very kind too. The food was absolutely amazing, as expected from Turners. Well done to all staff.
