Stayed here for 3 nights whilst working in the area.. what a beautiful place. The Mash Tun room was quirky with everything you could possibly need including a tranquil garden to the rear. The bluebell inn has a proper country pub vibe, amazing food and the lovely family that run it really make you feel welcome. Can only wish my stay was longer!

Being part of a party of 15 for the Sunday Carvery several members of the party were disappointed at the rude management and average food. Quite why simple questions must be responded to with rude sarcasm is a mystery. We understand the business is up for sale and look forward to returning when it's been sold.

The Bluebell Inn has everything you need for a restful break. John greeted us on arrival and made us feel immediately at home. Travelling in our Motorhome we stayed for 4 nights on the Caravan & Motorhome CL site. A quiet peaceful spot to relax in after exploring the local area and further afield. John generously lent us his Fiat Panda to run around in which gave us the freedom to leave the Motorhome set up. We thoroughly enjoyed two delicious meals in the restaurant, tender succulent steak with a wonderful garlic mushroom sauce and tasty Tempura prawns. The second meal was equally as tasty, flavoursome lamb and chicken and bacon in a gorgeous white wine sauce. The welcome and atmosphere at the Bluebell Inn is one of the warmest ones we’ve encountered on our travels. Highly recommend a stay here- beautiful individual rooms available too 😉 Congratulations to John, Jen and their team for the special place they have created. Hope to visit again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed in the fuggle and used this as a base to visit family in the area. The apartment has everything you need for a home from home and all for a reasonable price. The owners are really down to earth very friendly and welcoming, could not recommend this enough. 1 slight problem though, it is very difficult to get a phone signal. Did I mention they also have a camping caravan park on site, easy parking an excellent restaurant and as an add on to the usual bar beverages they also have their own beer.

We enjoyed a few pints of their beer brewed there in there micro brewery. Then a good roast dinner from the carvery in the restaurant. The owner, unfortunately we didn’t meet his wife, was very friendly, welcoming and hospitable Will definitely come back!!

Having been to the Bluebell inn for a lovely meal last Saturday evening , which was superb and could not fault at all, great atmosphere, clean, comfortable and welcoming staff, we decided today to try the Sunday carvery . Well what can I say, brilliant food, service and all at a fair price . Would really recommend this place , and would say as far as pub food , any restaurant etc , this is definitely becoming a favourite place to relax and have a fine meal . Booked family in for Mother’s Day treat , because I know it’s good 👍 Well done John, Jen and all the staff.

A pub that brews its own beer with a fantastic restaurant a really good CL campsite +2 overnight camper stops. In a very peaceful location a 1 mile walk on the flat [it is Lincolnshire] to local airfield great to watch light aircraft taking off and Landing and maybe tea and toast in Airfield cafe. Now at this point you are thinking What's The Downside yes unfortunately PUB and Restaurant closed monday and Tuesday. It is remote it is rural very quiet ADULT only but we love it.

Although in the middle of no where, it has to go down as one of the best places we have stayed in a long time! John and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, from start to finish it was great. The room was so funky and practical with little quirks everywhere. We had two meals while staying there and loved them both, with paying high attention to the sticky toffee pudding lol. I booked a table for four at 14.30, but arrived early 14 10 to relax with drinks ahead of our meal. I notified the barmaid of our booking and then sat in the lounge. At 15.00 my friend ordered another round of drinks and again notified the bar maid of our booking to which she replied John will come out to you when the table is ready. At 15.30 I went back to the bar and again asked for our table, She called John out who asked "what's your name" I told him "Steve" He came back at me with your tables been ready since 2pm, if you don't tell us you're here how am I supposed to know? I'm not a mind reader. Rather than have a battle of words at the bar I walked back to my seat in the lounge and waited for him to come over with the menus... John came over with four menus shortly and repeated if you don't tell us you're hear how can we know, we're not mind readers. My friend who lives locally corrected him by confirming that we did notify the barmaid 3 times that we were there. He replied "WHATEVER DO YOU WANT YOUR TABLE OR NOT?" Whatever? Who do you think you are talking to? I asked my friend if there was somewhere else we could eat? He said yes plenty of places. No John I don't want the table, I won't be spoken to or treated this way by the likes of you. You're a rude little man. To which he replied WHATEVER again and walked away. We gathered our belongings and went to leave when I remembered our drinks bill so went to the bar to settle up. It's done said John, I don't want your money! I just left and we ended up having a meal 10 mins up the road overlooking the river. He embarrassed me and my friends In a pub full of people. This needs to be addressed, he's a very rude man.

The Bluebell Inn sites out in the fens. A lot of the customers are regulars and a lot come out from the surrounded areas. I live about 5 miles away. It does get busy so you really need to book to get a slot you want.If you are used to old pubs that have been taken over by a chain, been given a makeover and serve one of the standard menus, then it might not be your thing. However, if you are looking for a pub that has maintained it original charm, are partial to a pint of ale from the onsite brewery, and like good portions of food at a reasonable price, you may like it. I would also say that this is not a gastro pub nor is it trying to be. We (myself, mother, wife and kids (15 &13) ate from the carvery menu. The choice of beef, pork or chicken is collected from the carvery and you help yourself to the vegetables or salad is an option too. The meat servings are generous and very nicely cooked. The vegetables where about as good as you get for this sort of service. I would say it is not a fully waitered service and if you want drink during the meal you are best go ask for them yourself. Some of the sweets are big enough to share between too and there is a choice of some classics. We did not eat of the menu or specials board but that looked equally inviting.I have been here several on several occasions over many years and would use again.

By chance we stopped here for lunch when we arranged to meet some friends, the reason being that it is almost exactly half way between our respective houses.John the landlord, knows his stuff and brews a fantastic pint of which there are 3 flavours and strengths of beer that they brew on the premises....... Next time I stop here I will be parking up overnight in my motorhome in the special area of car-park, free of charge and have another belly swelling meal as well as and more importantly trying the other 2 of his amazing brews! My mixed grill was large and beautifully cooked, although it could have been slightly hotter, but that didn't detract from the excellence of the ingrediants! My wife had the lamb shank and that was as good as they come and both of our friends had steaks which they said were truly excellent. We ate in the bar area as we had our 4 dogs with us.On a final note the toilets couldn't have been cleaner and this is something we both look for when visiting any licenced premises.

The location is best described as “off the beaten track” I had absolutely no idea there was a pub here. The location is about 3 miles south of Holbeach off the Peterborough road. You will need a sat nav or a good look at a map to find it!. Considering I gained my PPL at Fenland airfield and the Blue Bell is only about a mile or so north of it and I only live a few miles up the road it was a genuine surprise. Our friends are regulars here and took us for a treat out confident we would enjoy the venue. On arrival we went into a bar and had a couple of drinks (excellent real ale, brewed in house, sorry cant recall which one) sat in a bar which was full of leather Chesterfield sofa’s for their customers to peruse the menu and place their orders in comfort while waiting to be called when their table / meal is ready. We chose our main course’s, some from the menu and some from the specials board, and relaxed and enjoyed our drinks. About 20 minutes later we were personally collected and taken to our table in the restaurant, which was a lot bigger than I was expecting in a country pub!The legs of lamb, lamb steaks we had and everything served with them were all perfectly cooked and very enjoyable, after which we had to suffer the agony of trying to decide what desert to have (there are quite a lot and they all sound great) I went for the Apple crumble and custard (which was fabulous but the Rhubarb and raspberry crunch creation looked amazing as well) After the meal we talked to the landlord and made friends with their adorable dogs, overall we had a very pleasant un-rushed evening in good company and will definitely be back in the future!

Fabulous food in our little village, best food around and yes it is a distance from Peterborough/boston/kings lynn, but its a good 20 miles drive, which if coming from peterboro you could stop in a garden centre or local market and make a day of it, so not so bad. After all I travel from here to Peterborough every day and it only takes 30 minutes, which I consider a reasonable distance to travel. Anyhow, ignore lady 8 and emilysky 02, and come to the village pub, food has always been good, lots of it (sunday lunch you help yourself and the landlord carves the meat), nice staff especially James one of the waiters. Not only can you get sunday lunch but also selections from the special board and off the main menu. Keep up the good work BlueBell.

Found this on trip advisor and thought we were in for a great sunday lunch for the mother in law. How disappointing, the food was not that good.

This place may be out in the middle of nowhere but it is well worth the journey. I would advise you book on a weekend, we had to book a month in advance for a table of 4 on a Saturday.Real olde worlde pub, micro brewery out the back, small caravan park (5 pitches) on site as well. Lovely garden with patio areas. Friendly owner, brilliant staff, and traditional, well cooked, unpretentious food, help yourself salad bar, and huge puddings!! They also do a Take Away service for the locals!!!!Can't say enough, been several times and will go back again. Each time, never had a bad meal. We have yet to try the carvery, the first time we were there we ordered from the menu then regretted it after seeing the carvery choices - the rib of beef looked superb. We were happy with our steaks, again they were huge!!Well worth the trip out to this place, highly recommend it.

Me and my best friend dined here on a Sunday. I spent the morning looking on trip advisor and speaking to friends about a nice carvery in the area, I finally decided on the blue bell inn in waplode, as a few friends had said it was good and when I checked there website it looked promising. I rang to book my table and while booking I asked the lady on the phone if all the carvery was home made in house, she informed me it was. So I was extremely disappointed when I went up for my sunday carvery to find ready made Yorkshires and roast potatoes, I really would have gone else where if I had been informed correctly when I rang. The gravy was very watery with hardly no flavour you could see meat juices had been used however the taste was not there due to its watery consistency. We was at no time asked if our food was ok, it took quite a while for our plates to be removed and then even longer to be offered desserts. when our desserts came they had been microwaved until the treacle was a stodgy lump, they were replaced but this time sent back cold with a black hair to go with it. I know this cant be helped at times but we was offered no apology for the second lot of desserts having to go back, we decided we would go else where for dessert in the end. I must say the staff were so miserable and not once did they smile or make us feel welcome, they should train there staff on customer care as it goes a long way in the HOSPITALITY industry. After I paid the bill I told the guy behind the bar I wasn't happy I was told the food would be all home made and it wasn't, he replied with it is homemade , well the Yorkshires arent he said, then I said them potatoes are not fresh roasted potatoes, he said they are put in a rumbler then deep fried... lol deep fried. I don't no what is worse, but a deep fried potato is not a roast potato, he said they don't have time, which is fine but don't lie about it.. Must I add if you have a potato rumbler this saves plenty of time so you should have time to parboil and then roast in a oven, maybe prep the potatoes the night before or get more chefs, a deep fried potato is really not acceptable. Wont be eating here again

This is great pub restaurant, always busy which speaks volumes. The staff are very good and the food is well cooked and very good value. Try the puddings which are advertised on an easel! Pay particular attention to a monstrous beast of a pudding known as "the chocolate big one" it took three of us armed with spoons to beat it!!Great place try it.

My family and friends have eaten here on many occasions and have never failed to be impressed. We have been here for large birthday groups as well as small family meals. Contrary to the previous review we have found the food to be superb quality and the owners aim to make the most of fresh local produce wherever possible. The Sunday Carvery is the best we have had anywhere, with amazing quality meat, fresh vegetables and roast potatoes (definitely not frozen!) Other cooked dishes include Steaks and grills, curry, plenty of fish/seafood choices and also variety of chicken & pork dishes as well as vegetarian. So in other words you are spoiled for choice. Add to this a specials board on display in the bar and what more could you ask for? The staff deserve a special mention. All are youngsters and always do their utmost to make your visit pleasant. They obviously all work extremely hard. The owners have created a wonderful ambience in the bar and restaurant with piped music which is not overpowering, and the decor and furnishings have a special touch, particularly in the ladies washroom! Our thanks have to go to John & Jen and their team for providing us with excellent food and good times and we will be visiting again very soon. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

We went for a birthday meal there was 21 of us that turned up most of us had the carvery which was very pricy at 12.95 each and that had frozen roast potatoes, tinned peas and frozen yorkshire puddings i think the only veg that was fresh was the carrots as these were still quite hard but the cabbage was very watery and the gravy had no taste whats so ever. We spent quite a lot as you can imagine with 21 of us. On the tables were balloons and in the wine glasses everyone had a party popper. The waitress that was serving us was very rude she had got a very bad manner for a restaurant and i kept noticing the landlord keep looking over at us on three different occasions. When it was time for the deserts they brought this board over on an easel and some of our party could not read it properly so one of our party got up to call them out. Over comes the landlord and says in a sarcastic manner that this board can be moved and moved it very abruptly. One of our party said he could not see the bottom of the list and the landlord pushed one of our friends head to one side and said to him aggresively move your head and to the other one then stand up. Some one in our party over heard the landlord saying to one of the members of staff that he was fed up with us as we had made a mess on the floor with the party poppers ( just like to add that these were placed on the tables for us to use ) which they had put out in the first place and that we had moved the table. The table was moved to be closer together with the party and was not done until given permission from the waitress first. After hearing the landlords comments a couple of us thought we would go and ask what we had supposed to have done wrong he said we were too noisy (all we were doing is laughing and it was not excessively noisy) . That we had been late arriving which some yes were about 15 20 mins late and some of the people had not turned up which is not any fault of the party organiser as this happens all the time. (bearing in mind that a phone call earlier in the day confirming the numbers had been made to say these people would not be attending.) So by the sounds of it the landlord had the hump with us before we had even arrived. We found it a very disgraceful manner for a business owner that is customer orientated without them he would not be open and there was not that many in there any way so he should have been thankful for the amount of money we were giving to his business and treat people with respect. After speaking to people of our night out we have found that its not the first time that people have seen the attitude from this landlord and some of his staff. We certainly will not be going back to that pub and definately will not be giving anyone a recommendation of it

My wife and I dined here for an evening Meal. Before eating I had a pint of the Landlord's brew and it was nectar! We will be back for more. The dining was busy for a Wednesday evening.I had a steak and it was cooked to my liking and very tender. My wife enjoyed her meal also.We would have preferred to have the vegetables served seperately as the quantity was a bit overfacing but I suppose the farmers would be delighted. service was good.

Had a birthday meal for my Mother in Law. Group of 25 people. dispute large group service was good. Wide choice available as well as traditional Sunday lunch. Generous size portions through out, well presented. Not the cheapest but well worth if for the quality. Dining area nicely laid out and spacious. Has its own attached brewery, if you like real ales.

I'm not a local, but whenever I'm in the area I make a beeline for Turner's! Fantastic battered plaice fillet with chips and mushy peas, a bread roll and a cuppa tea. The fish was fresh, hot and very tasty with nicely browned chips and sweet mushy peas. A lovely soft roll with butter made for a lovely chip butty. Good portion size, plenty for a normal appetite. A fresh brew to wash it down. Very clean inside and attentive service. The carrot cake was also delicious. Yum yum 😋

Overcooked dry steaks and burgers. "Well done" steaks were black outside raw inside. Burgers were close to being charcoal. Food not up to normal excellent standards.

Runways cafe is a little gem. Took my daughter on a trip in a chipmunk at the airfield and stopped to have Sunday lunch at the airfield cafe. Lovely hot food which is a first for us with a carvery. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely, and the beef just melted in the mouth. Hats off to the chef. Extra points you can watch the plans from the cafe

Love rumblings for a traditional filling English breakfast but they have other great things on offer as well as really nice takeaway rolls and sandwiches. Very friendly staff and great value for money overall
