We have been coming to Tulsi for many years now where the food has been excellent and the quality of service good However, our latest visit to the restaurant has been our worst experience to any restaurant ever We booked a table months in advance for a family celebration meal, we arrived on time and were advised that there would be a few minutes wait for the table…… 1 hour later we were still waiting to be seated, the staff were not bothered and fobbed us off saying the table would be a few minutes longer with no apologies The staff were blaming the customers for eating too slowly and not leaving their tables quickly….on observation it was clear that the problem was with the kitchen not bringing food out in a timely manner not with the customers who were waiting over an hour for main courses to arrive In the meantime more and more people were arriving at the restaurant for their pre-booked table reservations, to the stage where there must have been over 30 people waiting to be seating all of whom were being told the same story. At this point we made a decision to leave as we did not appreciate being told a pack of lies by the staff who were not interested one bit. As a good will gesture, we would have expected complimentary nibbles or drinks to have been provided for all who were waiting to sit down for their meals. However this was never going to happen As a result, we will not be setting foot there again which is a shame as we have been regular

Came for a New Year's eve meal. We had a 15 minute wait for our pre-booked table but it was worth the wait and understandable with it being NYE. The food was lovely, staff were friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Will definitely be visiting again for a meal or takeaway!

Good food, service was a little slow from ordering to food being brought out but overall a very good restaurant. We where aware it was not licenced so took our own beers and wine, I feel they could offer to recycle your empty bottles but does not lessen the experience just a personal opinion

Recently visited this Restaurant. Order Lentils and rice and it was oky. The Waiter took order professionally but at the cash counter I had horrible experience. My total bill was £7 and when I tried to tap my card they said they can’t take Cash under £10 with annoyed face. This is their service. To be honest, as a person belonging from India, Im 100% sure that this is not Indian restaurant. Beard guy who serve food!! Really!! Where’s the hygiene!! Absolute 0 review for hygiene.

Lovely restaurant good food and service

We have been to Tulsi many times and this time didn't disappoint. We went for my Dad's Birthday and we ALL enjoyed our different dishes. Always served piping hot, always tasty. The staff are absolutely brilliant, friendly, welcoming, attentive and extremely helpful. This all makes for an excellent visit! See you next time!

Tulsi is one of my favourite places to go to eat! I go quite often and I have never had a bad meal! Every starter, main or side I have had is full of flavour and cooked to perfection! I mainly wanted to write a review just to mention the staff! Never have I ever been to a place with such friendly and attentive staff! They always make us feel welcome and attend to our needs! See you many more times!

Have to agree with other reviewers; the food is so bland. Absolutely no flavour or heat in the madras and the chicken tasted as though it had been reheated. Not a cheap meal so very disappointing. The staff, however, are really lovely.

This is a lovely place to eat. The interior is so nice snd the staff attentive it’s a great atmosphere. We were in early too so it shows how good as often the ambience hasn’t been created. We felt chilled choosing the food. We had excellent starters the king prawns were so nice in my purée and the royal starter looked amazing We chose specialist Currys and they did not disappoint Our sundries were plentiful Great place as more customers came in it felt lovely no one seemed stressed n all enjoying their meals I can’t fault it we loved it

Just had a delivery . It was the worst Indian I have tasted. Everything was cold. Poppadoms burt, asked for garlic Nann it was plain. Starters inedible. Prawn jalfrezi was like dried cold prawns in spicy water. I will never order again from there again

The staff are very good, polite and professional, however, the vegetable dishes are tasteless and not very good. If you are an Asian food lover this place is just ok depending on what you have, it is convenient for Pontefract but would not appear in my 1 - 10 list, sorry. Very expensive too for what you get.

Called in and had a meal last night without booking and they were very accommodating and friendly. Enjoyed our meals which we found to be very tasty. The place had a nice atmosphere. This was our first time but would come back.

Genuinely shocked given the amount of good reviews food was so so bland no flavour at all to either main dishes garlic and cheese nans couldn't taste any cheese pilau rice with zero flavour a garlic chilli chicken main with either flavours coming through my partner had a piece of fish in his chicken starter (good job he wasnt allergic) and when feeding back to our waiter was met with a very defensive response will not be returning .... maybe pay a visit if your half cut don't bother if otherwise

Last minute decision on a Saturday night to go to Tulsi and it was excellent. I rang up and they managed to fit us in a table of 4 at 8pm, advised us to BYO beers/wine which was an added bonus we think ! We had poppadoms and which were crispy and warm, 2 staters (chicken tikka and prawn purée) 4 mains course all freshly cooked and delicious, mixed Jalfrazi, mixed Balti, another house special and a butter chicken, plus 2 rice and 2 naan’s for £78. It was busy but all Staff very friendly and helpful and asking us if we needed anything, food was fresh and good portions. We will definitely be going again soon.

Visited as a change from the Indian restaurant we go to regularly. Pleasantly busy on a Tuesday evening, nice decor, good service, and food was all very nice indeed, tasted very fresh, not too oily. Only drawback was that it wasn’t licensed, which I didn’t know, but wasn’t a problem.

Visited with my wife after races last week. Nice restaurant and staff were generally pleasant. However, with regards to the food, the starter was basically ok but the main dish the Chicken Hydrabadi which we shared was bland and tasteless and to be honest I had reservations about the quality of the chicken that they used. I wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely amazing service alongvwith beautiful tasty food

First time we went the staff were excellent and couldn't do enough. Second time mediocre service had to wait ages before coming to us for our order. Meal was good enough but not wow. We could of gone to our local restaurant and saved on taxis and alcohol. I don't give second chances I won't go back after a bad experience. Businesses need to keep their standards up.

It’s taken us more than 3 years to find a good quality, tasty Indian and we finally have! Food is delicious, fresh and hot. Good portion sizes and big chunks of chicken. We will be a regular returning customer so thanks again! Would recommend this Indian to anyone.

Great food and ran by great guys

Food was excellent, but need to sort out there collection times, we were told food would be ready to collect in 25 minutes, we arrived at the given time and had to wait a further 25/ 30 minutes, so poor service, they need to sort this problem or customers will start going elsewhere.

Wanted to try somewhere different and read the reviews on this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, tasty and the customer service was excellent. Price was around £50 for a drink, starter and main course each not forgetting 4 poppadoms and a pickle tray. Yum yum. Thanks guys.

Sunday 22nd August 2021. Excellent meal as usual. Staff excellent. Just a pity that said meal was runied by the Mother and Baby Club at 8pm. When did the modern parent start believing it was ok to let kids sit on the table? When did the modern parent decide it was ok to let kids play music from a tablet out loud? When did the modern parent decide it was ok to let kids just roam around the restaurant? When did the modern parent simply decide that basic manors are not a thing any more. Selfish parents taking babies and young children to a restaurant with no facilities for brats, but they dragged the brats along anyway because the selfish parent wanted a curry and wouldn't pay for a baby sitter. Stick to Brewers Fayre.

Tried here a few times over the last month after a family member recommending it. We were really happy with it and now have a favourite indian. It's all fresh (not a pre-packaged onion bhaji in sight) and the staff seemed to genuingly appreciate custom - more than some in the area. Good and extensive menu and happy to cook you something up if it's not there.

Just had a takeaway from the Tulsi and it was outstanding. The guys who run the place are really nice and they’ve made every effort to keep the place open and safe during the COVID crisis. Looking forward to going back for a proper sit down night out.

We usually treat ourselves to a take-away once every couple of months. Always a friendly welcome and cosy waiting area to enjoy a drink while the order is being prepared. Can't go wrong with the onion bhaji and the specials on the menu are great too.
