Ruchee in Wakefield

Visited recently for a Birthday Party, was sat for over two hours before getting our main (came at 7, left near 10pm!). When it showed my meal was extremely oily (literally filled another bowl with the oil on top) and everybody had rubbery chicken. We complained straight away and the response was 'well nobody else has complained about the chicken tonight' after waiting so long we decided to leave. When paying for the bill we refused to pay for mains because nobody touched theirs but they were adamant we had to pay for the starters which we did. There was no apology for the terrible service and it was as though they hadn't realised that we had been there so long. Personally I feel that this entire meal should have been written off. The place wasn't even that busy!We've been coming to this restaurant for years and have had great service from the well known staff every time. All the staff had changed and so had the quality. Will not be visiting again, unfortunately.

We used to come here often and loved it. But tonight we were left very disappointed. Firstly we were with an 18 month old baby and the high chair we were provided with was filthy. And had to ask for the high chair to be cleaned. The seat and the straps were discoloured, sticky, and yellow.When the starters arrived, one of them were missing so had to wait for them to order another. And the chicken pakoras were small and over cooked. The salad was small and certainly not fresh.Other than the slow service the mains were ok, but overall compared to how the ruchee used to be. It is now very poor.

No poppadoms for a start couldn’t believe it they take no room to store and less than a minute to cook!!!and no serviettes on the table or offered at any time.The front of house reception was dirty piled high with dirty pots, glasses and empty bottles which looked disgusting. The front of house manager should have it looking spotless. Staff should be clearing as they go large pieces of food under the table should be swept up. Makes you wonder what the cleanliness in the kitchen is like when front of house looks so dirty. Food was mediocre but small portions. This place needs a better manager and staff with initiative otherwise people will just not visit again. We would not rush back sorry ruchee

This was the most amazing Christmas lunch, the staff are always friendly and helpful but we have been before on a Christmas day and it always excels. The food is beyond any other asian food I've tasted and the chef and his assistant are just awesome. It is a wonderful meal of excellent quality at a reasonable price with a relaxing atmosphere, what more could anyone ask for.

Had not been to the Ruchee for quite some time and had a meal there one recent Saturday. It was very quiet, which was a shame as our meal and the service were all excellent, it was during the late August heat wave, hence why it was probably so quiet. Service was really good, attentive, but not too fussy. We loved our pickle tray starters and the poppadoms were really fresh and good quality. All had lovely mains varied choices from Korma, rogan josh - good food all really enjoyed and realise we should eat here more often, on the door step, take your own booze, which makes it a lot cheaper. Grand night out.

Really nice family meal , we had poppadoms , pickle tray , mixed starters, chicken madras , lamb madras and chicken tikka masala , mushroom rice , chappati and garlic nann , everything was perfectly cooked really enjoyed it , would definitely recommend

This place was recommended so I thought I'd visit for a meal.It was Wednesday evening and it was fairly quiet, and got served promptly.The food was a good quality however concidering it wasnt busy the food took longer than I thought it would. The staff seemed to spend most of their time chatting to a few regulars.They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own, I was a little disappointed with the range of soft drinks they have to offer.I'm glad I went but I'd probably look for another restaurant to try next time.

Came as a party of 10. Table booked for 8, arrived early, wasn’t seated while 8:15. Really slow service. Food was average. Much better locally for similar if not less price. My “clean” fork had some dried food on it so I asked for another, didn’t even get an apology. Just looked at me, took the fork and gave me another without saying a single word! How rude? Will not be returning.

We always eat here it’s amazing friendly and fast service always have time to have a chat the food is always perfect and freshly cooked for you check it out price isn’t bad aswell. The only thing that could do is for them to sell booze rather than have to drag your booze in a bag. But it’s there religion so must respect that.

We have been here loads since moving into the area just over 2 yrs ago. We love the food and the staff are so friendly. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for Indian food.

Always good food love it there, good atmosphere and friendly staff, also bring your own beer which is always good

It wasnt anything to write home about. Food was ok nothing special garlic bread was lovely. Tables arnt at all nice to dine on no table cloths or table decorations was bit like being in a cheap caffe. Wasnt offerd desserts or coffee and castleford indian restaurants of simular style knock spots off this one , so sorry wont be back

We have been enjoying meals at Ruchee for several years now,and never once have we been disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I have tried various starters and main courses over time,and have always enjoyed the experience here.

Visited this place a good few months ago and not been back since.

This was our first visit and we went on a Friday evening to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary.

Never had a problem with the food when I've been to ruchee. Plenty of it an very tasty! Quite good that you can bring your own alcohol too. Highly recommend

This is one of our family favourites where we like to eat as a treat. Perhaps visit once or twice a month and always get a great service. Billy the manager is very welcoming and always a pleasure to talk too. They recommend great meals and make you feel very welcome. We live close by and tend to walk and take our own alcohol. You can buy soft drinks there. The meals are reasonably priced and if you would like anything not on the menu they will accommodate you as best as possibly. Lovely restaurant and lovely people. Will always return.

Very disappointed with last night's takeaway. The lamb in my curry did not taste freshly cooked at all. My wife's king prawn dish was very lacking in king prawns and both meals were very forgettable. The lemon rice had chunks of peel in it, which are not very nice to eat! Not cheap either. Over £20 for what mostly finished in the bin. Will not be returning.

This place had come recommended..... when we arrived (a party of 4) the reception was busy.... we waited over 10 mins before anyone came to see us and then another 5 mins to get seated...

This is an Asian restaurant run by Muslims who do not sell alcohol but allow diners to bring their own to drink with their meal.The Service is attentive and helpful, the food is delicious even if portions can be too big sometimes. the prices are very reasonable. My only complaint is that I have been very cold there in wintery weather.

Very tasty food. Friendly staff. A very pleasant all round experience. Would recommend to anyone. My grandson is celiac and the chef cooks him his own glutten free chapattis.

We visit the Ruchee at least once a month for date night with our little princess. And I must say the staff treat our granddaughter as if she's just that! A princess. The food is excellent. Service amazing. And a wonderful atmosphere. The Rusling's

Lovely food, quality for money. Really Friendly. We always go here as we have tried others but none are as nice as ruchee. You take your own alcohol which is better as prices are high in restaurants for alcohol these days.

Love the food at this curry house, very local so visit often, it would be good if they started delivering take always.

La comida es maravillosa, cada plato tiene su propio sabor único. El personal es amable, cortés y eficiente. Vamos sobre una base regular, también la víspera de Navidad y la víspera de año nuevo con amigos. Es un traer sus propias bebidas alcohólicas sin cargo para servir licor.

We have been here several times and have yet to have a bad meal. you need to supply your own drinks if you want alcohol but it is worth a visit.

We booked in here for 25 people for 6pm on Saturday night. The staff were difficult from the start, not letting us pay separately or in smaller groups as it was a big party of people. Then they said we all had to have main meals, as one lady only wanted a starter. Then, believe it or believe it not, two girls didn't want anything and they said they couldn't stay with us and had to leave!! These ladies were family from the north east so weren't local so we couldn't let them go. I spoke with the manager and said they were being ridiculous and we'd have to all leave. His words were that it we were happy to go then we could go, so we all left. There were two other tables with people in, as it was 6pm - hardly a busy time for them and they let all that money go. The rest of us are local and won't go back. Very very bad customer service. Give this one a miss as it ruined our night.

We're visiting the area and as this was very local to where we're staying we decided to give this place a go. It's located in a row of shops with parking outside. Inside the decor was ok but the paintwork needed refreshing. The staff were courteous and when the freshly prepared food arrived, was tasty. The Mixed Starter comprising onion bhaji, tandoori chicken and sheekh kebab arrived in a sizzling skillet on a bed of onions and was delicious. Main course comprised of lamb korma, mushroom rice, Ruchee special Balti and pashwari naan - there was enough food for 4 people and everything was hot and tasty. The bill for the two of us was £33; quite reasonable for the food we ordered. This place doesn't serve alcohol but you can BYO wine/beer.

Went here after reading favourable reviews on this site. Good choice of dishes. I had Desi Korma, garlic nan and China Kassala. Absolutely delicious. Handy to have Morrison's so close to get a beer in. OK the walls could do with a coat of paint but who cares when the food is so tasty.

Can't be better top quality food, great service and good ambience.Us the Hendersons enjoy Xmas dinner here and over Christmas 2015 we dined here 5 nights in a row.Good call and great food.

Not enough chicken in the curry though. Less skimpy on the meat would earn another star. The mixed grill was delicious. Tika Massala amazing. The rice with fruit and coconut is highly recommended.

been visiting Ruchee for years now for either meals in or takeaway, never been disappointed.Always great service and fantastic food, have tried so many different items on the menu.Give it a try and you go back time after time.

we have eaten here regular love their started mixed kabab our fav with side salad we even have take away to bring home, love their main meals, & nan breads always clean & friendly service , would recomend

Ruchee doesn't look all that special from the outside but is modern and clean. Loved the lamb special that the waiter recommended! All of the food that we ordered was delicious, very authentic.BYOB style but they don't have chillers for the wine (or it wasn't working?) so that was the only downfall.

We've bee visiting this restaurant, as a family, for years now and it is very good value for money, especially as it's BYO alcohol! However, there's only so far that will stretch when the service is painfully slow, isn't particularly friendly anymore, the menus need replacing as they're all tatty and frilling on the edges, the toilets are filthy and the walls in the restaurant, next to the tables are covered in dirty and greasy marks. These issues need attending to before people start going elsewhere, which would be a shame as the food is really tasty and it's so popular with the locals!

It probably didn't help that I travelled from Bradford to here obviously can get a fantastic curry in Bradford lol. Well service was a little slow but atmosphere was pleasant enough,food served and must admit was nice.. 8 of us all having poppadoms each two pickle trays us extra mango.. All a starter each plus a main each n a variety of rice each plus 10 chapattis and 18 drinks a grand total of £133 now that is fantastic bargain I pay that nr me for five of us so yes ill be returning

Service o.k, food much the same. Lights too bright, little atmosphere. Unlicensed so bring your own and that dosen't do it for me as I hate warm white wine.

Whilst very popular with a number of my friends, I struggle as it always seems very noisy . Visited a total of four times now, although always been extremely busy, I find the food good but not exceptional . Staff very friendly.

Visited here with a group of friends, food was good but the constant rushing us to order etc spoilt the evening. No need to rush as as it was not a busy evening

Just got back from a meal at Ruchee and wasn't impressed. The chicken Pokora and bhajis were very greasy, the curries were bland and its a little bit scruffy but appeared clean. Also got charged for 2 chippatis which never arrived. Far better alternatives in the area such as Zoya and Aagrah.

We've been eating here for several years but this was our first Christmas day here! What can I say, amazing as always! We absolutely love the staff here, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the food is fab!! This may become a new Christmas tradition for us!! Thanks guys X

We regularly visit Ruchees indian restaurant and cab honestly say thay we have never had a bad experience. Oustanding food, oustanding service and extremely pleasant staff. They always strive to ensure that your visit is a most pleasurable and relaxed time. The menu is varied and adapatable to suit your pallet. Well worth a visit, you will be delighted.

this has been my favourite place for indian since my first time I tried it, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is lovely and the staff are really nice and welcoming also its bring youre own booze wich makes it even better :)

only visited this place once the food was average but the main reason i decided to give this an astonishing star-rating is because my close friend, who unfortunatley has an extereme nut allergy, ordered a cashew nut starter not knowing it had nuts in it he instantly collapsed into the floor on the first mouth ful i obviously had no epi-pen on me. luckily the main guy, abdul, was a life saver he yanked one out of the back store cupboard and then shanked him in the neck essentially saving his life. safe to say, i ate he rest of harveys cashew nut starter

Lovely bring your own alcohol restaurant. Vast menu choice and efficient service. Booking advisable on most nights as its been asways been busy when we've visited. Good portions without being over facing.

Our favourite Indian restaurant in the area it never disappoints, always a good atmosphere, friendly staff and great well priced food.

We love going to Ruchee's, the staff know us by name, the personal touches stand out, we are always made to feel welcome.The food is gorgeous !!If you like Onion Bargi's this is the place, they are the best in the world.The curry's are second to none, everything on the menu is delicious. Not bad but not great. food is more than acceptable with very good service. This is a "BYO"(Bring Your Own) restaurant as they don't have a license to sell alcohol. Therefore, you can take your own.

Called in for a take away, food was lovely and the price was right too. At last found a Vindaloo that is hot enough :) team that with chilli starter and you are onto a winner and the naan was gorgeous

Use this restaurant often and always have a good meal. The service is always good too. I would tell anyone to go there.

3 of us called in on a Thursday night & had no problems getting seated (it was empty). We all had popadoms & pickle tray which were very tasty, for starters two of us had onion bhajis and the other had a mixed tikka.... We all agreed that it all could have been a lot hotter. We like it to arrive piping hot & not just barely warm. The main meals arrived we all also passed comment that it wasn't as hot as it should have been. When the waiter came over to ask if we had enjoyed our meals I pointed out that the meals were good but could have been hotter, he said we should have said something earlier & he'd have sorted it out, common sense I suppose but then again a chef shouldn't be letting luke warm food leave his kitchen ! Apart from that the quantity was fine as was the presentation. So if you're coming here for a meal please speak sooner rather than later if its not hot enough as they are ready & willing to sort any problems out. Oh, you can bring your own alcohol too which is a good point !

Tasty, authentic Indian food. Service is fabulous and the price is right.I would just like to see table cloths, nothing too expensive but I hate having my arm on a cold table. It would just add that little bit more to the experience.

We live local to ruche and eat there regularly. the staff are very friendly and acomadate our every need the food is excellent never had a bad meal. Great value for money lovely atmosphere and always busy recermend booking so not to be disappointed. We can also take our own drink whitch is great.

This Indian restaurant has been going for years and has a fantastic reputation with the locals - it is always packed to the rafters, so I advise booking to avoid disappointment. What adds to the value of this restaurant, is that it is a Bring Your Own Beer (BYOB) restaurant, meaning their sole focus is on customer service and the quality of their food.The food is extremely tasty, with something on the menu to suit everyone. The portions are extremely generous - I would advise sharing a rice and possibly even a sundry (especially if you have starters).The staff are friendly and the service is extremely efficient and attentive. If you are in the area, I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough!

From mild to hot the food is amazing, tasty and propagated to the highest quality, a must also take you favorite drink to complement your meal. Never disappointed.

always have a great experience at ruchee though miss the young cheeky chappy who doesnt work there any more. you might have to wait a little while for it but the food is always fresh and sizzling. the one down side is they are crap at decorating a birthday party trolley. me and my friend had to take over haha.

My husband and myself went to the Ruchee to celebrate our wedding anniversary , we were recommended this restaurant , well we both really enjoyed it , it was immaculate and the food was impeccable in fact we both said it was one of the best Indian meals we have ever had ,the staff were polite and attentive and this was a great night , we wouldn't hesitate to go back .

Food wonderful if you enjoy an Indian meal - great choice of menu. I have visited this restaurant many times and cannot find fault. Service great and always with a smile. No matter how busy they are, the waiters work hard to ensure your meal is not delayed. Mints at the end of the meal & a warm handcloth to freshen up. The added bonus is take your own wine/beer and they will supply the glassware at no charge and no corkage charge either! Well done the Ruchee. I have visited this restaurant many times and cannot find fault and will visit again. Reservation required to avoid disappointment especially on a Saturday night, and last but not least, they also do take-away!! There is always a special deal so take advanted of it.

Great food, easy to access with parking, good service- not pushy, superb choice. Tip- try some of the unusual dishes, they are on the menu for a reason! Will be returning!

It was my daughter's birthday and she wanted to go out with family to the Ruchee restaurant in Knottingley where she now lives. We live in Leeds so had never been to Indian restaurants over that side. We arrived a little late having got lost and found the rest of the guests already there so when we arrived the party was promptly shown to the table and seated. The menu was large and varied and had things on it similar to places in Leeds but had intriguing dishes & combinations I was unfamiliar with. We all ordered and looked forward to the starters which duly came out. I had a king prawn tikka which was very good, my wife shared some sort of sizzling veg starter which was very interesting and of course out of a sense of duty I obviously tried a little. This place allowed you to bring your own alcoholic beverages as they did not serve such drinks. Soft drinks were available to purchase but they did not even have bottles of water, so our designated driver settled for J2o fruit drinks. There was a few of us but not massive and the main courses did take quite a bit of time to come out, strangely some of our table and some of another came out and was duly served leaving some of our party without the main course, however these did surface a little time later. Everyone, I mean everyone, thoroughly enjoyed their respective main courses and naturally we all tried some of every dish and it was agreed the food was excellent and did somewhat make up for the delay in the main course. It was a mid weekday and there was a special offer on which we took advantage of with thing not on this offer attracting a supplement, that said it was extremely good value for money with no compromise on quality.In conclusion I would recommend without hesitation this establishment for quality, choice and value, the service could do with a tweak and it does not look very prepossessing from the outside but do not let that put you off and the service was a little slow but all the staff were friendly and welcoming and think it is just a little more organisation required rather than deliberate poor service.

Good decor, and a very warm welcome from the staff. We took our own wine and the staff brought us glasses without being asked, no charge ! Meals are delicious and well presented, we had been before so we knew not to go mad on the popadoms and pickle tray. Good portions and very filling. Cannot think of anything to fault this place. If you like Indian food, try this !!!

Don't know if it was just a bad night given previous reviews, but on our first visit 45 mins waiting for a table we had booked previous and over hour for food,which was poor to say the least. Baltie king prawn with no prawn to be found. Will not be a return vist

We try and go to this Resturant at least one a month. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced, service is friendly and steady. Never felt rushed to finish and celebrations are always welcomed and they always make it extra special. The fact that it a bring your own alcohol makes it a very cheap night out. 5 stars from me and the wife. Keep up the good work

The Ruchee is by far the best!!! Always gorgeous meals, real friendly staff, nothing is ever too much trouble. I have taken people there who have requested meals cooked without garlic ... they even managed to do that!! We have been there as a couple, with a group of friends and also with larger groups for birthdays etc, always great service, they try so hard. Average price for starter, main meal and sides is around £15 per person. The restaurant has recently had a refurbish, its a lovely place.By taking your own drink it makes your meals far cheaper, plus you can drink anything you want. My advice .... give it a go, you will not be disappointed :)

A good Indian to grab some food at an ok price, take your own beer or wine. Recent re-form and modernised crockery... The restaurant stands out locally but there are better in the heart of Bradford and Leeds ext.

Beautiful food whether eating in or taking away!! Try to have something new from the menu each time!! Onions bhajis are by far the best me and my husband have tasted!! Fabulous value for money. Service is outstanding and fantastic atmosphere.

You can always rely on Ruchee for a fab meal or takeaway. If you are going on a Saturday might be wise to book as we had to wait nearly an hour for a table the other weekend. Service great and realistically priced.

Second to Mamma Mia's Italian in Pontefract, this was without a doubt one of the best meals we've had. Living locally, it's as easy and as cheap as getting a takeaway. Bring your own beer so it keeps the cost down. The staff can't do enough for you and consistently provide high standards of customer service. The restaurant always recieves high reviews from locals and many visit regularly. Overall, good location, friendly staff, good prices, tasty food!Highly recommeded!

I have visited here quite a few times and never had a bad meal, the service is good and the friendly waiters always have a smile. Best of all it bring your own beer so it makes for a nice inexpensive night out.

Popped into Ruchee as we was passing by. The attractive shop front caught our eyes. Lovely modern deco and very attentive service. The menu was extensive with a fabulous variety, we tried the reshmi kebab as our starter which was good. For the main we had a mild chicken amla and the jardaloo sali boti (sweet n sour), both were cooked to perfection. If I lived close by I would definitely be a regular!!! Keep it up lads.
