Shurma in Wakefield

Went the other week and loved food. Chicken kebab starter was lovely and chicken tikka masalla main was too!

Disgusting food, Riata sauce is water, poppadoms soft as if out of date, chips flat cold and curry sauce is the wateriest sauce imaginable, I spent £70 on takeaway tonight and 80% of food had to be binned Called the restaurant but man was extremely rude and uncaring, just said don't order from us again and put phone down, extremely disappointing on all levels, only good comment would be food arrived earlier than expected.

Fantastic variety of curry's. I'm slowly working my way through the menu. Always lovely food and a clean restaurant and attentive staff. Bring your own alcohol but we usually have a soft drink.

The food is amazing as always the onion Bhaji's are the best I have ever had. For main I had Chicken Rogan josh again beautifully presented & tasted wonderful. highly recommended.

Without a doubt Shurma is my favourite place to get a curry! I've sat in to eat or ordered takeaway from here at least 15 times this year. They have an incredible variety of delicious dishes, which I'm always excited to try a new flavour of each time I order. My particular favourite recently has to be the chicken Shurma Special Curry, an incredibly rich and creamy curry packed with flavour, but I'm also partial to the lamb Dansak and lamb Karahi. The staff are always so warmly welcoming and friendly, especially during the Christmas period, it really makes every visit a treat. Even when I order takeaway they get any special requests perfect and the delivery drivers are super polite (and quick!). If you've not given Shurma a try I strongly recommend them, you won't regret it! Best regular curry house I've had in easily 15 years

Great food and great staff, price is very reasonable too. Dont serve beer but they give you bottle openers if you want to bring your own.

Ordered as a delivery was told it would be 40min, called and complained 1hr30 later food arrives Luke warm, Awful I've also scrolled older reviews, it appears if you eat in Fantastic but if you order for delivery, Every review is same as mine, Awful

The Indian cuisine served here is exceptional, with a wide variety of dishes that are sure to satisfy any taste buds. Had a takeaway from here as my Birthday evening treat . Was not dissappinted . Starters Lamb chops , mix tikka , samosas , chicken tikka all fantastic Mains . We shared Lamb Madras and a Special Balti both superb . Under £40 too . Highly recomended

Walked in on Tuesday evening for the lamb chops main to take away. It was absolutely gorgeous and well-seasoned. This will become my new favorite restaurant for lamb chops. I will be exploring their menu for other items down the line. The staff member who attended to me was very nice and cheerful as well and ensured that my lamb chops were spicy like I wanted. I 100% recommend.

Always taste better at restaurant vs delivery. Food is very tasty and fresh.

Lovely meals and staff so polite and friendly

Had multiple takeaway before and always been a brilliant curry. This time round unfortunately what we ordered was cold when it arrived. However after speaking to them on the phone they brought everything fresh within 30 mins, piping hot and to the usual standard along with some freebies which was very kind. Cannot recommend them enough, will definitely continue to order from them 👍

Excellent takeaway to celebrate a birthday. Easy to order, ready on time (slightly early in fact) great value and got free popadoms thrown in. We’ve eaten in a few times and always enjoyed but pleased to say takeaways are of the same high standard! And the lamb Shala is to die for!! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 👍🏻

We tried the Aagrah a couple of weeks ago while we were away. It was ok... We came home and tried the Shurma in Featherstone. It was far better. The Chicken tikka garlic is amazing. As is the Chicken madras. We shall definitely use the Shurma again.

Great food, great service and very friendly.

They offer a great range of vegan and vegetarian currys! Would definitely recommend. They can be a bit inconsistent with spice level and some days the dansak can taste better than others but I think this is just a sign that they are more fresh. I've literally ordered two days in a row from this place before so I would definitely recommend.

A great place for Indian food, well priced & a 5 course menu every Wednesday & I believe Sunday all for£10.99, awesome value, pleasant staff & always amazing food, take your own drinks.

Called in for my dinner. I've had a curry craving all week and needed to fill it. Started with standard pickle tray very good, rather nice red type spicy sauce very good. Then some rice and a lamb curry that just hit the spot. plenty of flavour and spice and very well cooked. Only problem know is I want more but I'm full. Well done fellas super food and service.

Had some very decent curries, starters, breads from shurma. Now that I ask for the curries to be thickish, they taste much better, just had a tikka vindaloo with keema rice. Absolutely delicious, (not as good as my homemade curries though). But for a takeaway, it's one of the best around. I will definitely be ordering again. Big congratulations to the chefs, your spices are spot on. Thankyou

Great food, I’ve ordered from here a few times, really enjoyed it. Driver who drops the food is very polite - the only thing I would say is when I phoned to order the person I talked to was rude and abrupt, that’s why I’m giving four and not five.

First time I've ordered from here before. I got the chicken pasanda and my partner got the chef special mix dish with garlic pilau rice, chips, cheese and garlic naan. Order came on time and was hot. Tasted beautiful and is now my favourite indian. I shall be ordering again tonight and I will be trying the mixed grill masala 😍 cannot wait!

Authentic food and friendly staff

What a disgrace!! Decided to order a meal we regularly order from various Indians.. Chips werent cooked. Items missing. Rice cold. Naan looked like it had been soaked in water for 3 hours before it came.. Tastles and not worth the £30 and tip we gave the driver (not the drivers fault I know) Phoned up originally to get my missing items but when I opened the meal - and saw it and tasted it it was bland and cold. When I told the takeaway they had never heard such a review. A poor one was left last week.. Offered to send another meal free next time - they're wont be a next time. Final result.. well you'll have to phone just eat cos theres nothing we can do about it. What a disappointment from food and staff!!!

We ordered food at 5:30 and it’s been a terrible experience from the beginning. First we waited till 6:30 to phone the restaurant the man that answered was RUDE not being helpful in the slightest, finally when the order apparently got sorted we are now STILL waiting for our food at 7:30pm... phoned the restaurant asking where our order is to be told ‘it’s on the road’ I assume they are walking the road as it was on the road 30 minutes ago. DISGUSTING.

Wonderful place to eat. We have been before and it never fails to impress. Prompt service and really genuine charming staff. The prawn puri starter is so good and the mixed starter plentiful. Lemon chilli special was stunning as was the naga takari, lamb jalflongee and the chicken tikka garlic. Beautiful rice and naan bread We were socially distanced and served by staff observing the rules . It’s a brilliant place thank you for our food tonight

Went with partner was seated quickly our waiter was polite, friendly and helpful, we got the veg starter for two and two chicken byrani's and it didn't take long to come after odering and was the best byrani we have had in years we will be back again.

Picked up a takeaway for £56.00 service was great and friendly came home food was nice and tasty specially the lamb special id visit again soon seems like a nice friendly place 😋

Visited this restaurant on Saturday night with family, booked a table however it was very quiet so probably didnt need too. Ordered popodoms, mixed pickles and a mixed starter for 5 , arrived quickly, a good selection, and was delicious, main courses soon arrived cant remember what we all had but there was definitely no complaints, staff were polite and friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble, would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.

This restaurant was recommended and we were really disappointed in the quality and the blandness of it . I asked for our dishes to be changed they brought the food back , and thought it was acceptable to bring back food scraped off the plate and seasoned with salt leaving one prawn in my dish , we were astounded at this . We decided to leave the food and on our way out was prested with a bill !! No apologies but verbal abuse . How unprofessional. Typical hay

6th visit here and each time we have been we are always left feeling satisfied. The staff are always polite friendly and attentive. The food is always fresh and quick and the menu contains alot of choice. For a small place in Featherstone with alot of competition around this place stands out and deserves alot more custom! Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Amazing. Genuinely the best Indian Cuisine I have tried since moving to the area a couple of years ago. However, the service was even BETTER. The new manager was so polite and helpful. I honestly cannot say enough positives things about it.

I will point out now, this is my local Indian and I love it. We eat here at least twice a month and we have rarely been disappointed.The staff are friendly and are attentive (without being pushy/intrusive). The fact it is BYOB is also a bonus and makes a meal so much cheaper. On a Wed and Sun they have a 5 course banquet for around £10 (Starter, Main, Rice, Sundry and Sweet), you can't go wrong!I would recommend this place to anyone, although I will also add it does get busy and as everything is cooked fresh it can result in a wait for your food.

Food good but service poor so rude, my children went in with a drink and we soon had a miserable waiter telling us "No you cannot have those drinks" WHAT!!!! young children are not going to cost ££££ by drinking x2 bottles. How daft ... we had a table of 15 people eating and all adults drinking from Shurma what's x2 drinks. Rude... with an attitude... wouldn't split the bill when we asked, we had lots of food left over so one adult asked for some containers they moaned when they finally got some they just chucked them with attitude on to the table. Never again !!! after going to Shurma for years..

I travelled to shurma from the Middle East on a rubber dingy, Craving for a decent curry but all I got was very rude staff, on my dingy I travelled with family members and my poor niece and nephews had carried a 24litre barrel of water ( energy drink)from there local well ( bargain booze) Dying of thirst the waiters got them in a wrestling move I think he called it the cross face chicken wing and told them they couldn’t have it very poor !!!!
