Mumbai Boss in Wakefield

Went there on a Thursday evening with a friend. The people there were very, very friendly, which made the visit very pleasant. The food came steaming onto the table and we never had to wait long. It was a lovely experience with delicious food and nice people. I would recommend it to others.

We had a great evening here. The food was awesome and all the staff members were very nice.

Fitted us in (table of 8) very short notice, only 15 minute wait. Food nice , no desert on set menu, would go back , possibly on a less busy day/time

Had chicken Karahi, butter chicken & another chicken dish (can't remember). None of them were nice. The chicken was over cooked & tasteless for all the meals. The butter chicken (which they made especially) was in this carroty-like, overly sweet masala type sauce - just terrible. And the other dishs were mediocre. Wasn't particularly cheap either for just the meal only (without rice). No receipt given when asked for one. Disappointing - won't be going back.

We decided to call in ad hoc. The restaurant was medium busy. Nobody on the reception/ bar at that time, so we waited. Eventually the man who works this area arrived, phone in hand, having some sort of conversation. At this point a customer walked from his table to pay. The staff member finishes his phone call and we think began to make up the bill for the other customer who arrived at the desk after us. At no point did he look at us, acknowledge us, speak to us. Nothing. He is totally unsuited to a front of house role. Completely ignorant. We turned around and made to leave at which point he did notice us and tried to speak to us. Far far too late I’m afraid. We had by now realised what sort of place this was. Won’t be going back.

Wanted to find a new curry house. Ordered garlic naan and korma sauce to try out. Chicken korma is priced as £6.95 and for the Korma sauce alone I ordered I was charged £6. I did query that I simply ordered the sauce, not with meat and was told "yes I've charged you £5.95". Still on the look out for a good Indian cuisine restaurant 🙃

Decided to try it here for a change and wasn't dissapointed. Staff very friendly and attentive, food lovely and reasonable price. Nice sized restaurant, good atmosphere. The only reason not given 5 is that there wasn't any space between courses, but thats personal preference. We weren't rushed out at the end at all though, so it was just efficiency. Will definitely be back to try more of the extensive menu.

We have been visiting this restaurant since it opened. The food here is packed with flavour and great quality every time. There is always a welcome is warm, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. No wonder we still love it. We would definitly reccomend it.

We visited on a Saturday 6.30pm there was already 15 people in so good vibes,sat near the front door would of preferred a different table but it is what it is,we had the pickle tray and popadoms then a starter very nice and plenty of it,then the curry with rice lovely food worth a visit just seemed a little rushed we hadn’t even finished are popadoms and pickles before the starter arrived then 2 minutes after the starters finished the mains come could of done with a little pause between courses service was great atmosphere great would definitely return.

We are regulars for taking away and sitting in, We have never had a bad experience after over 10 visits. Staff are always so welcoming and have become good friends with the owner over our visits. They are so kind to add complimentary food to most orders. Would always recommend to people. We always get the Chicken Madras ans Chicken Tikka Passanda which is perfect. Oliver and Leah.

Ordered a takeaway this evening. My son and I both agree it was the best Indian food we have had for a long time. Highly recommended. Now we have discovered this little gem we will be returning soon.

I have never had curry from a restaurant before untill I tried Mumbai boss and wow what a delight it's fantastic food the staff are well polite I would highly recommend this to anybody go try you will not be disappointed

Wow. I normally don’t write negative reviews for restaurants as I’m always aware servers are doing their best when it is busy but I’ve never experienced anything like it. We’d booked for 7:30 and got seated. We didn’t get approached for our food order for 40 minutes after arriving and even then, I had to ask a server. My cousin asked previous to this but was ignored. Also, a member of staff knocked into my mum and her bag onto the floor and then didn’t even apologise, just looked as if she was in the way (she was tucked in as far as she could be into the table). Then the starters came and they were delicious but the main course didn’t come until 9:20 pm and then my mums rice was missing and there was no apology- she was actually made to feel like a nuisance for even politely reminding them she’s waiting on her rice. There were only 6 of us and half our foods were just right temperature and the other half were flat cold. Then came the bill.. the bill that none of us were allowed to see apparently. We’d asked to see it numerous times but were talked over so we just split it 6 ways to what he said because at that point we were so tired as we’d been there so long (something that I regret doing as I realised the waiter was avoiding my mum politely asking to see the bill).

Went to the restaurant last night with 4 of my friends. There was amazing food and there was great service and the atmosphere was awesome.

The food was bland and flavourless. At the end of the night we were told not to leave as there was £150 owed on the bill. This turned out to be an error and we didn't even get an apology. Would not recommend and certainly won't be going back.

Amazing indian restaurant. Plenty of seating inside and the chicken korma is delicious. Will be coming back.

Wow! My husband were on holiday in Britain driving through Wakefield on our way to the Yorkshire Dales. We went to this restaurant because of the good reviews. They did not disappoint. The menu was huge so we asked for suggestions and ordered what was recommended. All the food was amazing. It was easily the best Indian food we've ever had! I was telling my husband that we may be disappointed in every other Indian restaurant that we visit as it will be close to impossible to get any better! Service was great, too!

Excellent food, nice welcome, good service and clean dining area and bathrooms.

Not local but was staying in Royston and fancied a curry. I was sick of so called Indian takeaways which are mostly Bangladeshi and Pakistanis and serve frozen tasteless food hence drove 15 minutes each way to try something authentic. 30 minutes drive was worth it as food was tastier than any other place in and around Royston. I personally highly recommend this place. Give a go you won’t regret it for sure.

My fave curry house! Mumbai Boss is just around the corner from our house and it’s a real treat! Love the Chicken Tikka Karahi I had, the prawn puree was so good! It’s a 5/5 from us!

Decided to try here again after hearing good reviews. Came about 4 years ago and the food and service was shocking ( must have been different owners) However glad we decided to try it again. We arrived about 7pm on a Friday night and hadn't booked a table and took our chances. A young gentleman welcomed us and took us to our table. We were then seated provided menus and after a few minutes our drinks orders were taken. The poppadom and pickle tray was lovely.. followed by the mains chicken madras and Tikka Massala both really tasty plenty of sauce and flavour in them. Sides of rice and the cheese and onion naan bread was phenomenal. Couple of drinks too. All in all reasonably priced and will return.

Great food very enjoyable can not fault it. Would highly recommend and gave me complimentary mushroom Bhaji which was nice. Thanks.

This is my second time eating here, and they haven’t missed the mark once. Delicious curries, mouthwatering naan breads, and top class sundries - all at an incredible price. The staff are a class act, and are the friendliest and most helpful people. Couldn’t recommend more.

Wow. I literally don’t know what to say. Quite possibly the greatest food I’ve ever had. The flavour is out of this world. This place is a must visit for anyone who likes flavour. Highly recommended and definitely coming back.

Visited as part of a large group, 17 people. Service was excellent, food excellent and chef did a great job cooking a range of different curries and sundries. Very friendly staff, frequently asked if everything was ok. Will defiantly revisit

Korma sauce amongst the finest ive tasted...lime pickle the best I've ever tasted.. all dishes hot fresh and full of flavour the lamb in my dish was soft and cooked to perfection...chapati fresh and soft...staff so friendly and helpful This will now be my go to for future take outs

Really lovely service but the sauces in the main courses were dreadful! I'm doing this review with a heavy heart because the guys who serve you and take your orders were absolutely first class, really lovely . Unfortunately, the sauce that came with a chicken tikka masala was really sickly sweet didn't have any spice flavour AT ALL .. Probably should have complained but was very hangry and didn't want to upset the owner because I know how sensitive they can be regards their food . It looked like a shop bought product to my untrained eye 👀...Yuk! It felt and tasted more like I was eating a chicken korma it was that sweet it was almost like eating a desert not the Chicken Tika masala I actually ordered Next time we have already decided to try Aagragh for its midweek buffet for £18.. We were not impressed at been charged for poppadoms and pickles as this is Usually complimentary in most places .. Also as I was driving I could only have water and that was charged at £3 for still water The table we were given was like something you'd through out it was that badly scuffed and damaged ... How much does a table cloth cost ?

I’ve been several times in the last few weeks and on every occasion I have been impressed with the service, food and the pleasant atmosphere. I like what I like, so I always have chicken tikka Ceylon which is marvellous and I can fully recommend! Jay has served o every occasion and he is pleasant and top class. Do go and I am confident you will enjoy it!!

Reviewing while sat here finishing drink. Food aired at best. Had to wait half hour to order. Poppadums took a further 20 minutes to come. Starters lukewarm as was curry but not the best. Had to wait a long tie for drinks too. We weren’t the only ones, tables surrounding ours were all complaining about cold food and the length of time it was taking. Won’t be returning.

What an absolute delight this restaurant is. All the food is freshly cooked and to a high standard. We started with poppadoms and pickle tray, the poppadoms were not greasy at all and the Pickles tray was so fresh. Mains for me was chicken tikka sizzler off the bone and my partner had the house special Karahi. Side dishes of aloo Gobi and keema rice. The whole meal was so tasty, bringing out all the herbs, flavour and spices in each mouthful. The service was second to none and very attentive. I will definitely be visiting again.

Myself and my son recently visited the Mumbai Boss. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service from the team excellent. The menu is extensive with a wide variety but if you speak to the team at Mumbai Boss they are happy to offer advice and explain about the food. The restaurant also offers a take away service which I use regularly. As always though the most important thing was the quality and taste of the food which was superb.

There pickle tray is very poor.

Wow! Never tried here before but we will be back. Absolutely gorgeous meals, extremely tasty and very reasonably priced. Service was just right, attentive without being overbearing.

Had a take away from Mumbai Boss tonight. In one word ‘disgusting’. Naan and tandoori rotis were hard and chewy, lamb was dry, chewy and not fresh. The mixed grilled starters were okay ish. Would I recommend anyone to go there, ‘a big fat NO’.

Oh my god this place is good. I had the Khazana and my wife had the Chili Garlic, chapattis, poppadoms and a kebab starter we all perfect. The lamb was so tender and the chicken moist. One thing though their mushroom bhajis are the 'curry style' ones rather than the deep fried style but they still fantastic.

Visited here again and the food is absolutely beautiful again can't fault any part of it, the food is so fresh and tasty and the service is first class definitely be going again, its worth a visit if your in the area.

There were a few good choices on offer whilst working away and staying in the area, but I went for something very average by choosing here. Couldn’t get a vat receipt either.

Lovely family run small Indian restaurant with an excellent wide choice of menu. Operating take away during Covid the food remains excellent and is ready when you are advised to arrive to collect it.

I found the take away food nice and plentiful but it was tarnished with the staff not wearing masks in this pandemic. Both the gent who took the payment and an employee I noticed from the kitchen. Alarming! Considered not eating the meal to be fair.

On our way home from asda we decided to go to Mumbai boss and omg it was delicious I ordered a chicken makhani this was a sweet creamy buttery sauce and I couldn't get enough it my other half got a jalfrezi this was nice...

Rotis were raw in the middle, the meat was quickly cooked chicken with sauce that sadly either had no taste to it or texture just a jar consistency. We used to come here regularly but after being served mutton rather than lamb from the last takeaway and now this we just feel it's gone downhill sadly, they only seem to take care or those who dine in not those who dine out *Raw rotis aren't high standards, I appreciate that you are continuing to serve at this time but supplementing meat without saying so is false advertising and not cooking food correctly is nothing to do with the times.

Had takeaway last night it says that your tikka is marinaded for at least 12 hours. When the chicken tikka is flavourless I doubt its been marinated for 12 hours. The parathas had not been cooked properly. Very disappointing. I thought I'd give mumbai boss a second chance after being served beef instead of lamb that I'd ordered 18 months ago but this time I shan't be returning.

Just had another superb takeaway from Mumbai Boss. We had the Asian style Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Rogan Josh, both of which were delicious. Highly recommended and well worth the trip. Thanks guys and hope to order again soon. Dave - Pledwick Area
