Toreros Tapas Restaurant & Bar in Eastbourne

We had a great experience here! It was extremely busy as hundreds of people were wandering the streets, looking for something to eat between the end of the air show and the beginning of the firework display. Toreros was perfect for the occasion. The staff were hugely energetic and good humoured, the food was delicious and the ambience was buzzing!

We had reserved a table as the town was busy due to AirShow. We were greeted cheerfully and given a choice of inside or outside tables. Service throughout was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was busy and there was a short wait for some dishes but considering almost everything is cooked from scratch that wasn’t unreasonable. Our granddaughter loved the mussels and prawns, and we all appreciated the authentic flavours. We shall definitely return!

Once again we had an amazing meal at Toreros. The mussels were out of this world! All of the dishes were delicious and the staff are very friendly. Look forward to our next visit

We came here as a family for an early dinner and across our group, we ordered a range of food from vegan options to chicken, to seafood and paella. The food was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. The portions were generous too. My allergies were well managed too by the helpful chef. We will definitely be back!

Food was delicious but I completely lost my appetite when the third jug of sangria arrived with a cockroach floating on top! When we finally managed to get a waiter to come over he apologised, removed the jug and glasses quickly and gave us another jug. However his apology was brief. The manager said nothing when he came to ask if we wanted more food. I asked if he realised we had had a cockroach in the sangria and he said Yes that’s never happened before. That was all. I would have apologised profusely and said the meal was on the house. When we got the bill they had taken off the third jug of sangria. We told them we felt they shouldn’t charge us for any of the sangria so they took it off the bill but to be honest I would have expected them not to charge us at all. It completely ruined the meal for me.

Worst experience ever. We ordered one of the menu because they said it was more than enough for 3 people, turns out it wasn't enough even for two. Everything was without flavour, tasted like nothing so we raised a complaint to one of the waiters who replied: "what am I supposed to do with this food now? Bring it home?" while the other one took it personal and started accusing us of wanting to eat for free. How is that even possible if we left everything? Rude and arrogant, he didn't want to let us go, acting as he was the justice, threatening us that he would have humiliated us in front of everyone and he called the police that probably laughed at him. We ended up leaving an amount that covered what we actually ate and drank on the table and left. I am a manager in a restaurant and if I speak or act with my customers the same way he did with us, the company I work for would rip my contract in my face and kick me out.

Amazing restaurant! The staff were so helpful and happy. The food was incredible! So much choice we ordered so many things and all of them were delicious! Can’t wait to visit again!

Visited with my husband during a road trip. I had the best paella ever! Authentic and so much seafood in it. The staff were wonderful, Spanish natives who knew how to cook well. Simple yet clean and cozy environment Will visit again.

We had a lovely meal here on a quiet Tuesday night. It's hard to get enough veggies when dining out but we had a couple of seafood dishes and several vegetarian tapas between the two of us, which were all very tasty. Be warned, though, the Spanish tortilla is enormous! The roasted veg with a big slice of goat's cheese is delicious, especially the little green roasted peppers (padron peppers?) I explained I have an intolerance to tomatoes, so I'm not sure if they changed the recipe specially for us but, if they did, it was seamless, with none of that air of disapproval that you sometimes get. We also had a nice bottle of cava and the creme catalan - well, we had been very healthy with all that veg!

Had a lovely, reasonably-priced meal at Toreros this week. Hard to choose our favourites but the prawns in garlic, chicken ti-tin & the pimentos were all wonderful. Meatballs were fab too!

On a short trip with my wife and son…walked by this place and decided to give it a go.What a mistake.Friendly enough staff but the food was dreadful.We decided on the set menu.9 tapas dishes priced at £19.95 per head.Hugely overpriced.For our money we received.Salad, 1 piece garlic bread, 1 meat ball, 1 1/2 bite sized piece of chicken in sauce, two types of potato with sauce (most definitely frozen roast spuds), garlic mushrooms , 3 calamari rings….and microwaved uncle Ben’s rice.Shocking. Not worth it at all for the money, and it’s seriously not even authentic food.You could knock that lit up at home for £2 a head tops.So, food and two pints for me, 2 glasses of wine for her and 1 coke for junior just cost £90.Should have gone for a curry.Disappointed and feel completely stung.

We visited Eastbourne for a romantic getaway and popped into Toreros for an evening meal. The food was fab - pan catalan, swordfish tapas, mushrooms in white wine tapas, butter beans tapas and spinach tapas were absolutely delicious. All the food was freshly cooked and packed with wonderful flavours. So, if you're looking for a scrumptious meal in Eastbourne, Toreros IS definitely the place to go - very friendly and welcoming staff and a great, relaxed atmosphere - highly recommended - 5 stars across the board. We visited as a family of 4 and had a great time! The staff were friendly and helpful, the menu had lots of variety for both meat and vege diets and the atmosphere was great. Certainly one of the best tapas meals I’ve had, the butter beans were amazing! We will be back!

Booked last min and soooo happy I did. The food was amazing! I recommend the lamb (Pinchos Morunos) we asked for seconds as it was just stunning, cooked beautifully and you could cut it with a butter knife….the chorizo was lovely, prawns were juicy and Patatas Bravas were nice and spicy Our waiter was lovely and chatty and we felt really welcome. We’ll definitely visit again

We popped in for light lunch and were delighted by warm welcome, prompt service and excellent food. Very saddened to see a group of 3 order and proceed to eat a large meal only to then turn very nasty with the manager, refuse to pay and walk out. This group is known to local restauranteurs and reported to police.

Had the most amazing Spanish Tapas food which was great value & authentically cooked to perfection, tasty dishes , very attentive friendly staff & lovely warm restaurant. Will definitely be returning again & would highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited Eastbourne for the weekend and booked this restaurant on reviews, wasn’t disappointed exceedingly busy as it was carnival weekend, still had time to make us welcome. Potato Bravis was the best we’ve had even in Spain. Highly recommend 👍

From the moment we arrived we made to feel welcome. We were not rushed for anything. We were not sure if our 8 year old son was going to like the food but by the end he had eaten everything put in front of him.The food we had was full of flavour and really well cooked. We had experienced Tapas before but this was very different and in a really good way.

A Tapas restaurant with a extensive menu of a taste of Spain I tried the Seafood Paella which was very tasty, it seemed very popular and the staff were very friendly.

The food was good but way overpriced! They also brought us two of the dishes when we only ordered one. I simply thought they split in two. Will not return or recomend to anyone. Maybe it would have been less of a rip of if we went with the set menu.

We sat outside as the evening weather was warm and we had a doggy with us.We ordered a set menu and the food was lovely.A little bit of everything.We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was great.I would def return.First time this year have had a meal out due to one thing and another and am so glad we picked this restaurant.

Myself and my wife Susan were recently in Eastbourne and decided to try tapas , something we had not had before. We were guided by the staff on how many meals we should order ( 4 per person ) but settled for 5 between us in the end. We mixed the tapas up ordering prawns , beef , chicken & bread with a balsamic & olive oil dip. The service was ok and our meals were soon on the table , although we felt a few slices of baguette with a dip was overpriced and a rip off , otherwise we both enjoyed the dishes we had. Our problems started when we tried to pay but were given the bill for the table next to us ( ours was £35.00 theres was £46.00 )and we quickly pointed out it was wrong .They came back with another bill which again was wrong but finally managed to get it right the third time of asking., it appears our bill went to the table next to us who paid it and left leaving us with there bill. This left a bad taste and would not encourage us to revisit this place .

It does not cost what they charge. Very dry paella (it did not seem fresh). Very high prices and very basic Spanish food. Price does not correspond to the product they offer.

I was in Eastbourne for the day so had lunch at Toreros. Sat outside in the fine weather I had a selection of tapas and two glasses of wine. Really lovely food, unhurried and a great atmosphere.

Family of 4 £95.00 for 7 tapas, 2 bowls of salad, bowl of fries, 2 pepsi, 1 orange juice and 1 bottle of water. The tapas are small and over priced. Sorry to say but, with that price I can have a better quality of food in London. What a rip off.I will suggest people to avoid this place at all cost and try the restaurant Madeira way in 72 Seaside Road, my family, 4 of us we had a good time and we paid £60.00 there was a lot of food and drinks nothing to compare with the £95.00 with paid at Toreros.A good business always try to keep the customer and reputation to the 100%, a bad business that concentrates in ripping off people's money always loses more and always collapses.Que robo.....

First time coming here and we were blown away with the amazing food and the friendly staff. Highly recommend the mussels in garlic and white wine and the lamb skewers. Stunning. Will definitely be returning soon.

I had dinner here with my family a few weeks ago. Pandemic protocols were still in place so it was a challenging time for staff. The food was pleasant and the staff friendly however the decor and the atmosphere felt much more like a café than a place to enjoy a nice relaxing evening meal. It felt as though the staff were in a hurry to serve us as they would in a café at lunchtime when people are up against the clock.

!st time visit,Not totally what I expected, long wait, had to call passing waitress for drink then waited ages for it to arrive, also bit of a wait to order very confusing menu no explanation of what to order, door was open most of the time we were there so it was bit cold and draughty. The Calamare was very chewy, small chunky bits which seemed to be overcooked, Food was just ok, Will not be going back

Booked a meal having searched for Spanish restaurants earlier in the day and came across Toreros on tripadvisor. Great service and even better food, Eastbourne is lucky to have a wonderful tapas restaurant. Sangria and Estrella a perfect accompaniment and to finish Crema Catalana. This would be a regular visit if not for living 6 hours away.

Maybe my expectations were too high, I was not in Spain ! But where were the flavors, garlic non existent, meat bland it was also far too expensive, will not be returning

We have walked past this restaurant so many times but today we thought we would call in to try the food and I am so glad we did. What a gem of a restaurant, fabulous restaurant, wonderful food, fantastic service and all very well priced. It is suggested that you order 3-4 tapas dishes per person , but we thought we would try four between two of us and would order more if necessary. We had the most amazing mussels cooked in a spicy sauce, aubergine cooked in a tomato sauce topped with cheese which was delicious, garlic Mayo potatoes and mushrooms cooked in garlic. We ordered bread to mop up all the wonderful juices. I am going back there as it was absolutely delicious and would definitely recommend this restaurant. Fantastic food, lovely staff and all at a reasonable price. What more could you possibly ask for, but don’t take my word for it - try it for yourself - you won’t be disappointed.

Loved the food, we got the patata bravas, chicken croquettes and paella Valencia with a pitcher of Sangria and everything we ordered was super tasty and flavourful. We sat outside coz we had a dog , the service was great and all in all a lovely meal out .

We literally just finished the last mouthful and felt that this deserved an immediate review, the tapas was great, fresh and very tasty. My children had this for their first time and absolutely loved it. They are the biggest food critics and if they are happy then I'm happy. The staff were very accommodating, they worked hard to make sure we were satisfied. Overall a fantastic of the cuff experience. Thank you.

Excellent Restaurant. Lovely family run business. the food is amazing the best Spanish/ Tapas in Eastbourne. Lots of delicious choices and very good value for money. Good atmosphere rustic Spanish charm. The staff are attentive and friendly we will make this our go to favourite place. We loved it.

We went here yesterday, service was quick for drinks, had to wait to order and the table next to us had their food within 15 minutes we had to wait a further 25 until ours arrived. I even heard on of the severs day to another table food takes about 15/20 minutes. It was clear their was confusion about out tables order as multiple times the waiting staff were pointing at our table and going back into the kitchen. No explanation was offered. Then we could see our food sat under the heat lamps for about 5 minutes. Food was good though and it’s just lucky we weren’t in a hurry, just after our food came out a 3rd staff member appeared, and food for tables around us started arriving in much better time.

Stumbled upon this Tapas bar on our last night in Eastbourne. Nothing was too much trouble. The waiters were helpful and the food delicious. A lovely evening!

Delicious tapas - authentic, wonderful variety all freshly prepared. The lovely staff were so hospitable and welcoming to 3 generations of my family, warmly accommodating our latecomer. The best meal we have enjoyed during our Eastbourne staycation! Muchas gracias!!

We had a lovely meal and the service was fantastic. A very comfortable place to eat! The owner and his son was fabulous, making sure we were well fed. We will visit there again!

This tapas bar was in the main drag up to Eastbourne station. On the plus side there was outdoor seating and the service was good. The wine was finr but the food was disappointing (we both had the vegetarian set tapas menu at £19.99/head). It had the feel of being prepared to maximise profit and not offend british tastes. There were two potato dishes, rice and garlic bread as fillers and the vegetable choices were uninspired. I couldn't taste any garlic in the aioli and the use of herbs and spices generally was pared back. It filled a hole but I wouldn't recommend a visit. My last trip to Spain inluded pinxtos at San Sebastian which were infinitely better than anything we ate here. It is difficult to understand the rave reviews.

Had some really good tapas and jugs of Sangria. The service was attentive without being intrusive and we left very full and happy. First visit to Eastbourne so this made it memorable. Highly recommended.

I passed by toreros tonight and the place was buzzing with peaple the restaurant was full and I was told to wait 20 minutes but having seen very good reviews about the restaurant i didnt mind to wait 20 min for a table. I had set menu andalus it was full of flavor definitely was good value for money.Can't wait to go back to try more the menu Thank you toreros and see you soon

We just popped in for a snack and a drink and loved the experience. Wonderful tasty Tapas, paella, beer and coffee. Friendly staff and an unhurried atmosphere. A perfect finish to our day out in Eastbourne. Muy contento con la comida gracias.

Deprived of our usual Spanish jaunt, we found this place while stopping over in Eastbourne. Not the largest menu, but enjoyable nevertheless and the garlic prawns had such a wonderful sauce that I would have eaten anything that had been cooked in it. Not overly expensive as four tapa plus a couple of Estrella came to less than £50. Would definitely eat there again should we be back in Eastbourne.

Last night my husband and I were passing Toreros and immediately the amazing aromas coming from the restaurant pulled us in.We had the set menu for two along with a very nice bottle of Rose wine. We didn’t have to wait long even though the restaurant was quite busy. The food was absolutely delicious, you could tell the ingredients were fresh. There was plenty of food for the two of us and it all tasted extremely authentic. All of the staff were extremely friendly and polite and made the atmosphere feel very comfortable and relaxing.As soon as anyone left the restaurant the staff were there cleaning the area thoroughly.We found the cost of the meal very reasonable and definitely worth it.We would highly recommend Toreros, if you want a light tapas lunch or a more filling evening meal it would be perfect.Next time we are in Eastbourne we will be back to try out some more delicious dishes.

Very popular restaurant, fully booked on a Saturday night. As visitors, we were lucky that they managed to fit us in. The tapas was delicious, washed down with a jug of Sangria. Lovely, friendly, welcoming staff too.

Just visited Toreros for a late dinner with my partner having read some previous reviews. Despite us eating late and being cautioned by our lovely waiter Georgio (sorry if I spelt that wrong!) that the kitchen was very busy, our food arrived in good time and was really delicious. We had mainly vegetarian tapas - for which there was a great choice- and every one was tasty and generously portioned. Lovely staff throughout even when I checked the bill. A great meal and would highly recommend

We were guided by the reviews on here, which are generally excellent with a few exceptions. The few exceptions are unfortunately a true reflection of the standard of the food.We have eaten in many tapas restaurants locally to our home and the food they serve is far superior to any of the six dishes we had at Toreros. Portions small and of a poor standard. The prawns were good, but that’s about as good as it got. Definitely the worst meal we experienced in our week in Eastbourne.

As visitors to Eastbourne, we didn't know the area and happened upon this restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and having spoken to a couple of locals, apparently it is well know for poor food... It is on the main tourist street, and so I guess gets a lot of passing tourists like ourselves, who don't know any better. We decided to go for the set menu. Initially there was a slight delay bringing it out, but somehow there was a mix up with the tables and our food ended up elsewhere.So we had a bizarre situation where once we received our food, we had several staff members coming up to us during our meal asking what we had ordered.. Had we ordered olives? What drinks had we previously had? This happened on about 5 different occasions, double checking what we had ordered. When we mentioned it as we paid, we were told there had been a mix up in the table numbers.This might have been fine if the food had been good but sadly it wasn't. When the set menu was delivered, visually I was disappointed. I would have expected more food for the £40. For example, the lamb meatball dish consisted of two small meatballs..to share between us. I think someone else has commented how small the serving dishes are, which was also our experience. Equally, the food was bland.. As someone who loves calamari, and don't think you can get that too wrong, it was not enjoyable to eat. In fact all the dishes were bland, to the point that I did wonder if I had Covid...(but the wine was ok so I don't think I can blame that). So I would not recommend this place at all..poor quality food and not great service.. For a £60 meal out, that's a lot of money to come away feeling unhappy with the experience

It was the best dinner whilst on holiday in Eastbourne. Staff was very welcoming, attentive and polite. The sea food platters were very delicious and good sized portions. Chicken and seafood paella was amazing! Full of flavour and plentiful. Highly recommend to everyone!

Lovely choice of Tapas all served quickly and with a smile. In our party was someone with very plain tastes but as soon as we mentioned this to our waiter there was nothing that was too much trouble for him. He made some excellent suggestions leading to a very happy lad. Definitely recommend and will be back..
