Hadn't stayed here since 2017 so very nice surprise, the hotel has had an upgrade .stayed in a junior suite which was faultless. Huge room with great views,huge bed,1 bathroom with roll top bath and 1 shower room.coffee maker ,plenty of storage if you were planning on staying a couple of weeks. Sitting area and the room was spotless. Restaurant was lovely, very polite and helpful staff and not overly expensive. Good choices of all starter,main and pud.

Booked an Afternoon Tea here for my birthday treat. Unfortunately I was not at all impressed with the standard of food, turkey sandwich was tough meat, other sandwiches were also not very nice, the scones were stodgy and no jam supplied we were given Nutella or marmalade, the cake selection was quite sickly and unappealing, a total waste of money in my opinion.

A large seafront hotel with dedicated, friendly staff. Free onstreet parking 1 Nov - 31 March just outside Grand Hotel, turn right out the Lansdowne. We enjoyed a 2 night Travelzoo stay in a standard room without a sea view. This room (345) had an uncomfortable bed but staff were proactive and able to move us to a new room the following night which also had an amazing sea view (once the January gloom lifted). Some issues with the radiator which we reported but the room was warm enough. The QR code to send queries to staff wasn’t working well but we were able to obtain an iron. Breakfast was good, a bit manic on Sunday morning as the hotel was busy and Basil, Sybil and Manuel were on hand to put a slightly awkward smile on your face as part of a special event! Gluten free options are available with a cook to order option though 1 slice of gluten free bread was slightly stingy and a younger member of staff wasn’t able to source any margarine for my dairy intolerance (the next morning was fine). I enjoyed a brisk 40min walk to Beachy Head and although we couldn’t get the car charger in the nearby Devonshire Hotel car park to work the Osprey in Pevensey Bay in the Castle Pub car park worked well. Good meals at Xing Fu Chinese in Mead Village (20min stroll, 3A bus back) and Sabbaidee Thai round the corner (both had gluten free options). Overall a good value stay with any niggles being sorted out by the marvellous staff.

A beautiful hotel and the rooms, staff and food excellent, our Christmas break was amazing, even a stocking at our door on Christmas day filled with goodies for us both, three meals a day, and mulled wine and mince pies when we arrived in the lounge, entertainment included carol singers, a tenor singing a variety of songs, and the last night a Quiz our table came joint third. We hope to come again 2025 thank you Landsdown we had a great time and met some lovely people.

Just a couple of things: all the armchairs and sofas need to be thrown out and new ones brought in. They are awful as when you sit in them they say quite a lot and it is difficult getting out of them. Serving staff need training. They should really start serving morning drinks at ten am not 11am and up their choices in cakes and have tea cakes for example.

I’m going to start with the Amazing hospitality I received as soon as I stepped foot in the establishment by the formally dressed and welcoming staff.Checking in took only seconds and was easy and easy. They gave me numerical well presented room keys . Room was lovely,clean and tidy with beds so comfy I fell asleep instantly. I had the greatest sea view of my whole life with a modern large flat screen tv and a shiny,clean and spacious bathroom. Definitely recommended to travellers of types and WILL stay again . Thank you so much lansdowne team ❤️ seafront was right opposite hotel.

Had a wonderful meal in the hotel as a non resident for the second year in a row. Visit Eastbourne for the scenery and to eat here. Many thanks and compliments to the chef and his staff. Best meal ever tasted, so flavoursome. Back again next year, might even stay this time. Can't but wonder what the breakfast tastes like. :-}

The springs in the spring mattresses are way too soft. The mattress kept wobbling which made sleeping difficult. I tried another bed and it was the same thing. Almost felt seasick sleeping on it.

We had an amazing meal here 27/7/24 Waitress Emma could not of been more helpful .. Her colleague Toma was equally attentive too .. We were there for an early Dinner .. before going to the Congress for a show .. Emma even made sure we were aware of the time so we could make decisions on wether we had time for Dessert 🍨 ( we made sure we did lol ) Also as we had mentioned our Show .. she advised us of a 10% discount that we had not known about.. So above & beyond 👍.. The Food was beautifully cooked & well presented .. absolutely amazing grt flavours .. a grt menu that covered everyone’s palette 😃 we will definitely be making another reservation 👍

Perfect location, in the quieter end of Eastbourne, opposite the Bistro Pierre. This hotel is quaint, comfortable and dog friendly...they even have their own lounge ! Staff were very polite and helpful and the breakfast was one of the best I have had in my years of travelling ! Room was a good size, bathroom small, but the biggest disappointment was that I booked an executive double with sea view but the double glazing had blown - not a great view when misted and condensation build up, blocks it. Paying extra for a view and to then not get the view ... ??? Overall, a nice experience but let down by the windows

I can imagine that the hotel was intended to be luxurious in its heyday, unfortunately it never kept up with the times and everything in the hotel feels dated and musty. When we open the door to our room, we are met with a nasty smell of smoke, possibly absorbed into the carpet over the years. Everything we touch feels dirty and yet they dare to charge £20 per night for the dog; the cost of the extra cleaning work is not reflected in the room. The shower does not have a constant temperature, one moment it is ice cold and the next moment it is boiling hot. The temperature in the room itself is much too high for us to sleep in, because the heating is centrally controlled, we could not adjust this. The only thing that was a bit positive; a nice breakfast that was included. This means that instead of 1, it still gets 2 stars.

Frequently visit this place & have never had a problem, until the 5th of April 2025. My husband & I brought some friends here that had never been before. We were so disappointed & a little embarrassed. We ordered our food but then the server came back & said “there’s no wings left” then told about 10 minutes later “there’s no JD glaze left” then 10 minutes after that “there’s no maple sauce left”. After all of this, we then received our food & my friend had a deep fried fly in his food. Then my husband had a hair in his food. We told the server & then we all no longer wanted to eat our food, that hadn’t been touched. We were told that they would remove the 2 dinners from the bill but nothing else. Which is unacceptable! We were all off put by the fly & then by watching my husband pull a hair out of his mouth from his food & we didn’t know what someone would have in their dinner next! I wanted to send an email to speak to the manager but there isn’t an email address on the website. We were happy to pay for the starters & drinks but definitely not happy to pay for the main meals.
