Qualisea Fish & Chips in Eastbourne

Delivered much earlier than Just Eat said it would be (although Just Eat said it would take an hour for some reason…), and seemed to be delivered by the restaurant itself (so not sure what I’m paying Just Eat for here!). The food was really good, and plenty of it. Will definitely order from them again.

Every time we visit Eastbourne we make a point of eating at qualisea over the years. Always top nosh, always competitively priced . You always get what it says on the tin .

Proper fish&chips, an old-fashioned restaurant. Great experience, got there bang on a midday, not too busy, great and quick service! ×2 Large fish & chips with curry sauce on the side, medium glass of house white wine, and a pint of theirs lager come up for £42.50

We went to eat here on night of 31/3/24 We ordered fish and chip .I made some comment that fish(cod) on my husband plate seemed not fresh but lady said non of restaurant can provide fresh fish( but we used to eat from other restaurants we think they are fresher than here) .Most of them are from frozen.After we returned home around 40 minutes to drive from restaurant my husband had diarrhea and vommit and pain in stomach but myself is fine.

Really enjoyed my fish and chips, nice and hot tasty.

Me and my partner came here for a late dinner, it was a nice little restaurant. We both had fish and chips, the fish was lovely and the chops were also nice. Had to ask for lemons for the fish but it wasn't an issue. I would recommend.

Food really isn't that great. Fish didn't have much flavor. Fries limp but ok. One of the fries was green. Glasses were dirty. Price outrageously expensive and disproportionate. Price performance not good 👎🏻.

Had a large fish and chips. Was a nice place, big and can cater for groups or couples or families. The cod was succulent and the batter light and crispy. Portion was slightly too big for me but I appreciated that a large portion means more fish and not just a mountain more of chips like other places. Service was friendly and the food came out promptly. The beer was bubbly and tasted fine. I liked the place. Not the best I’ve had but it was pretty good. Would recommend it.

Regarding the Owner's reply to my negative review of yesterday (2/3/24). I notice from other negative reviews you do not take kindly to these atall. Fair enough but when you offer a service to the public, you must be able to accept criticism, especially where food hygiene/personal hygiene is concerned You totally misinterpreted my review. Odd that! I do not care when your staff have, or if they have breaks, re the young man with his phone and greetings card-what I object to and what the issue is, is the fact that he went immediately behind the counter, he did not once wash his hands, I don't know where the wash basin is but he did not use one, as I watched him like a hawk, he merely chatted and touched various bits of food for prep, at one stage he was flicking bits of 'debris' off a discarded polystyrene take out container into the fryers. The FACTS are what germs are on his mobile phone and that greetings card he wrote, he transferred to the food prep area. HE DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS, I watched him for at least 10/15 minutes. Again I do not care if you employ delivery drivers or they are employed by Just Eat, the issue is that they were going to and fro after the man dropping his bag on an empty customer table, the lady her bag on the floor. They were in and out of food prep area, again for about 15 minutes, touching food prep items, not ONCE washing their hands. What germs are on those delivery bags that they transferred to the food prep area? Again I watched them like a hawk!. Regarding your statement that I keep returning I had already commented I had tried The Dolphin but that it's closed for re-decoration. I ate in Qualisea in August 2022 (I remember as I had just had my hip replaced) I ate Egg and Chips, it was delicious. I always give praise, where praise due, which I did then (the same lady who served me last night) I went in about August 2023 with my son, his wife and my 2 grandsons. The food was noticeably not so good, we were all disappointed. I went in with a group of nurses I work with in September 2023, again it was not great, we all said it was disappointing food. But I don't believe in not giving a restaurant a chance. I was reluctant last night but as The Dolphin was closed, I decided to try Qualisea again. Hardly true that I 'keep returning'. I certainly won't return again after the greasy fish batter and soggy chips, I watched how the fish was not drained or rested, straight from dripping fryer to the plate, then to my table. This and the shocking hygiene principles, which let's face it are basic good customer care. Hopefully to prevent an incident of sickness from germs being transferred from unwashed hands. Your last Environmental Health inspection was in August 2022, quite a while ago. I have emailed the dept to request they do an inspection post haste. Julie Akers. Eastbourne

After visiting Seven Sisters, we stopped in Eastbourne for a late lunch. I decided on cod and chips after all. Fresh, fluffy white fish wrapped in a crispy batter is delicious! It's definitely better than eating in London! Local beer is also delicious! Everyone at the store was friendly and I had a good time.

Best fish and chips in Eastbourne

Great quality fresh food. Food was cooked fresh so it took a little longer but it was worth the wait. Friendly staff and good location. As everywhere the prices have increased but still offers great value for your money.

Large haddock and chips ordered and I received two pieces of fish. One piece of fish cooked ok,the other piece of fish under cooked. When I complained about it the chef shouted out " yes mate it's cooked',not what I would expect. Fresh orange tasted like cheap diluted juice Naked cheeseburger (vegetarian option ) was tasteless,chips were ok.

Probably the best fish and chips restaurant on the South Coast. Great food and great service. Service staff that serve the customer and not the table. They were also able to accommodate my sense of humour. It made a lovely afternoon for us.

This was mine and my partner’s favourite fish and chips went in this evening and it wasn’t good chips where not their usual crispy chips fish was rubbery scampi was nice tho but I’m so disappointed in the rest of it :(

Had Cod and Chips. Nice quality Cod, light batter decent chips and a large portion of mushy peas. Staff very friendly felt like a family run business?

Chips arrived cold and “soggie”. I do not think they were cooked enough. This is a problem having chips delivered.

My lemon sole and chips was amazing (huge portion!) Really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant as it was clean and bright. Service was amazing, staffs were friendly and nice, i had an amazing time having dinner here :)

Wow...probably the best Fish & Chips we had in this area. A super friendly place and very accommodating. The food was amazing and the staff really gave us a warm welcome. We actually came back several time during our trip, and would definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend you sit down and enjoy a meal here. Also, don't forget the Gerkins which are out of shot here! A********************

Genuinely the best fish, chips and most importantly cheesy chips in the whole of Eastbourne - neigh England - neigh, Earth. Did the maths, spent over half a grand on cheesy chips in 2023 and we surveyed the whole area to prove that nothing compares to Qualisea. Big up

How do these clowns carry on trading!! Extremely rude service ...makes me laugh reading other reviews where the owner tries her best to defend herself 😂...avoid at all cost!!!

The food was alright, the fries were nice, hot and fresh. The sausage was lukewarm though, this was especially annoying because the self-proclaimed owner was very rude and kept talking over us when we were ordering. Upon asking whether it was possible to get freshly-prepared battered sausage, she went into a pretty intense monologue about “everything being fresh, trust me, it couldn’t be fresher, it’s fresh as can be, trust me, I’m the owner”. She then proceeded to take the clearly not-freshly prepared sausage from the heating display that had been open for the past 5 minutes and already had sausages in it when we walked in before all of this. When we asked about something we couldn’t find on the menu, she was like “oh it’s ALL on the menu”, after specifying what we meant, it turned out it wasn’t on the menu. Also you can’t order the kids menu when picking up, only delivery. Make it make sense.

Always a generous meal of good quality fish and chips well cooked, and delivered promptly, with a smile.

Food quality has declined. We only ordered fish yesterday as recently the last few months the chips have become too greasy. I ordered Huss, which had obviously been frozen and I think it had been fried twice as the batter tasted twice fried and was swimming with grease. Should be on the menu if it is off season! Also it was a third of the size smaller and the fish had shrivelled up inside dry. Sorry guys please take this as a positive!

Haven't been to Qualisea for a few years and thought I wouod treat my Dad to a takeaway. Food was excellent as always and the delivery driver was friendly.

Speedy service, friendly staff, reasonable prices. My cod and chips (cooked to order) were cooked to perfection and the home made onion rings were so delicious. Not very busy when I visited mid afternoon, so it was nice and peaceful.

Skate and Chips with Mushy Peas. A nice freshly cooked piece of Skate. Generous portions. Other Fish available. A darker batter but very tasty. Not burnt and served hot. A clean Restaurant and good Table Service. Wait To Be Seated.

We have been coming to Qualisea for a few years. The service is exceptional as is the food. Staff are always friendly and efficient.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely place to eat.

1 star is too much for the waitress. We got to the restaurant not a minute later than 8pm, as at 8:15 we were already waiting for food at clay oven. We got in politely and was about to ask if they were still opened, when the lady turned to us and said “FOR F SAKE”. Did not say the f word, just the letter, but excuse me? First of all, there’s was no clear signage saying it was close or even the opening hours. On Google says they are opened until 8:30. And second, she could have said “sorry, we just closed” or there’s the take away option. Or quite literally anything else and we would have been fine. She looked at the chef, I presume, and said “it’s up to you” ignoring us completely. The chef did make a sign that it was okay, but I felt awful. And told the boys to go. To the lady tonight. We did not enter your living room uninvited, to sit at your table, we entered a restaurant, where the light were on and the door was opened, merely to ask if you’re still serving. And please and thank you really do take you far in life! The food might be delicious, but if you don’t want to feel embarrassed on your night out, I would avoid the restaurant around 8pm.

That was the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. There was more fish than batter, it didn't taste greasy, and it was all extremely hot on arrival, which meant no unforeseen trips to the microwave. There are several happy customers under this roof, and Qualisea definitely lived up to their name today!

I ordered fish and chips and a prawn cocktail last night, The fish was lukewarm and rubbery, the prawn cocktail , The prawns were still almost frozen, both my son and myself are now feeling poorly. Will not be using again

The fish was nice, however the chips were very disappointing this time, compared to last week ..... Very soft & mushy which were not edible. I think it will be a while before we return sadly.

Brilliant fish and chip restaurant with a wide selection of types of fish Crispy batter freshly cooked and red hot temperature ! Alternatives available if you don't like fish. Immaculately clean cutlery and table clothes. Friendly service. Well worth the money - you can get a good wholesome meal and soft drink in pleasant surroundings for the cost of a burger !

We visited today after being recommended this place for good fish and chips. The food was awful. The chips were hard and had been reheated after being kept warm. They were hot which is the only good thing I could say. I understand that this may be due to the fact that it was a Monday in October but I won't be back.
