I was standing in the takeaway area having ordered my food and a young lad had ordered a cheese burger who was also waiting. When his cheese burger arrived he said he ordered it without salad. Quite politely may I add. The lady who was serving instantly got defensive and started shouting him down and arguing. Telling him he needed to stop talking to his friends and pay attention. I was frankly disgusted to hear a simply remedied situation turned into a shouting match. The server then went and asked her fellow employees if she thought she'd handled the situation correctly. One of the other workers plainly said "no" causing her to get angry at her too. Just for having a different opinion. If the lady in question had been working for me that would have been her last evening of employment. I use the restaurant a lot for fish and chips but am now finding somewhere else in Eastbourne. Probably the rudest member of staff I've ever encountered.

The waitresses were the absolute rudest pair I've ever been served by, everything was too much trouble and considering the place was really quiet - 4 tables occupied the two of them and one chef should have managed easily. Right from the get go we felt we were unwelcome when we were told we couldn't sit at the table we asked about with the waitresses saying you'll sit where I want you or not at all. We asked if we could order drinks and we're told to go back to the table and wait - we didn't mind waiting actually we don't expect silver service in a chippy but as we hadn't been there before we didn't know the system. Had the waitress got us drinks while we waited until she was ready the restaurant would have sold two rounds instead of one and she could have taken our food order when whatever drama was unfolding was over. After what I'd call a longer wait than you'd think judging by the lack of patrons, we had our meals almost thrown at us, I'm not even joking. The food was acceptable except for the chicken burger which was not breast meat it was more like a large nugget which I thought was disappointingly low quality. The milkshakes at £3.50 each, again were nothing special. The at8tmosphere was tense, borderline hostile. I'm sorry for the owner because the choice of staff no matter what was going on was detrimental to the business. We won't be back.

Food was OK, the service needs work from the shouty northern 'greeter' to the waiter who had all the charm of a self service checkout. Lots of room for improvement. I notice they have been there for 60 years, perhaps some complacency, arrogance or sense of entitlement. Either way, the competition is better.

A nice restaurant in itself, but unfortunately dogs are not allowed.

Excellent fish and chip restaurant, very friendly staff. Freshly cooked on ordering. I had Regular Haddock and chips and OMG it was so good, they have a range of alcoholic beverages, I just had Coke Zero. They have a great selection of various Fish on the menu and of course desserts too. Will definitely visit again when back in Eastbourne. Highly recommend here for fresh fish and chips and very welcoming staff.

I asked for salt and plenty of vinegar I got none there was no taste chucked most of it away it 1 bit of taste in the fish

Ordered via Uber eats, go back to check on the order 30 minutes after ordering and our order has been cancelled due to our address being too far away. We’ve ordered delivery from here before with no problems. If we are too far away then you shouldn’t appear on the search. Also shows as delivery available to us via Just eat. Disappointed. Thanks for the reply. Our order was just under £20 and it says minimum order as £8 so think you need to adjust this on Uber Eats Maybe you could have called me the customer to advise and then I could have changed the order or collected? Anyway, we agree to disagree, we won’t use you again for eat in or take away and you won’t deliver to us so all good.

Absolutely amazing place. Food was superb!

Good selection of indoor seating and toilet available, was a bit chilly inside but no drama. Bar available with spirits and a draught beer albeit wasn’t the best in taste. Services prompt and friendly. Food mediocre disappointingly especially for the location and reviews. Fish and chips was just okay wouldn’t recommend it vs. Other establishments. Would be good to have a homemade tartar sauce to add to the tradition. Overall nice to sit with a drink for a chippy but food wasn’t anything to write home about. Spent £50 for 2 drinks, 2 fish and chips and 2 curry sauce.

We needed some food quick before going onto a show at the hipperdrone theatre, and this place delivered in quality, friendly staff and price. We ordered and food arrived freshly cooked, great portion sizes and lovely fresh and hot. Scampi was good and husk best my friend had had in years. Would return

As a proud old Yorkshire man 75 years young, we came here on the recommendation of a couple we met at the bus stop here in Eastbourne. This is without doubt, the finest Fish and Chips to pass my lips. Batter so light and crisp, fish actually tasted like the freshest fish possible.

Usually pretty quick and reliable, tonight our order of sausages and a savaloy and chips took 1hr 20mins and was missing a sausage, chips were quite soggy.

Been eating at this restaurant since I was a little kid, the family has always been polite and friendly, the food has always been delicious and prices are reasonable too, highly recommend anything from the menu always 100% spot on.

Having popped in for dinner, I was pleasantly surprised to have had the nicest fish and chips I've had in YEARS! If you are looking for fish and chips in Eastbourne, you HAVE to try this place!

Brilliant fish and chips, pie and chips and a jacket potato. The stand out thing though was the service from Liz. She was unbelievably good. What a diamond of an employee she is. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve been coming here for a number of years, and it’s been great to see the same family and staff remain over the years. Always consistently good food, fair prices and service always friendly and pleasant. On my most recent visit I had left a bag with a load of shopping in, and the staff were kind enough to keep hold of it for me - I was sure I had lost everything in it. Thank you for always being a special place that we always visit on our trips to Eastbourne.

Had a lovely lunch at the restaurant during my day down there yesterday £7 for jumbo sausage and chips weather improved during the day which was nice went straight in wasn't busy at that time

let down this time, soggy soft and warmish chips. batter could have been crispier. however, I'd use them again.

Went in for a take away asked if they done a half portion of chips was told abruptly no we don’t so I asked do you do a lunchtime oap special ie cod chips was told no so settled on a regular cod and small chips +chicken and mushroom pie The lady with black long hair informed me she was the manager does any of her staff do a half portion of chips I said no as live three hours away just bringing my mum down see her old friends she came across very defensive and sort looking for an argument not impressed if that is the attitude of the manager the staff have no chance when parking up top end of beach parking my pie was reheated from last night as bottom when turned over had dehydrated and sunk nearly to the top of the upside down hardly any gravy/sauce so very dry and pastry over Cooked the chips were nice and a decent portion for small but regular cod was very small for £8.00 pie £3.50! Chips £3.50 when my mum and dad used live in hailsham some 8+years ago it was run by Italians and service and good portions etc spot the best fish and chip restaurant for miles no any such a shame !

Six of us visited on a day out to Eastbourne. The staff were fantastic, helpful and attentive. Our Haddock and Chips arrived promptly after ordering, it was excellent beautifully cooked, the fish was fresh and tasty as were the chips. We also enjoyed a glass of wine or two. We would all highly recommend this restaurant.

Very disappointed. Batter for cod not crispy. Chips worst I have had for some time. Limp, not crispy at all. Looking around, everyone else's looked very poor to.

Atmosphere was lovely. Delicious food with generous portions. Chips were sooo delicious. The batter was perfectly crispy and the fish tasted fresh. Service was outstanding, was asked about allergies from the get go, server was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

September 2023 - Wow...probably the best Fish & Chips we had in this area. A super friendly place and very accommodating. The food was amazing and the staff really gave us a warm welcome. We actually came back several time during our trip, and would definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend you sit down and enjoy a meal here. Also, don't forget the Gerkins which are out of shot here! A******************* August 2024 - Had to revisit since we were in the area, and the food never disappointedly! Was served by a lovely Scottish lady again who always makes us very welcomed!

Staff in here are always lovely, me and my partner have returned to this restaurant 3 years in a row when we visit Eastbourne and wouldn’t get fish and chips from anywhere else. Staff are always amazing, there is a lady who works there (on the shorter side, fringe and I think Irish accent) what a pleasure she was and so accommodating. Food always excellent

QUALISEA PUSHED OVER MY ELDERLY DISABLED MOTHER IN LAW AND 15 YEAR OLD SISTER!! Edit: you speak about “the other remember of Staff as if it isn’t your son or daughter you’re speaking about. Your daughter who pushed my young sister and mother in law. Shoving them at the counter. We’ve spoken to several other business and all have told us exactly who we had issues with and that it was probably because of their attitude before we even said anything! One of them we said oh we had an issue with a fish and chip restaurant and they said I bet it was qualifies before we said anything! You were rude and arrogant to my 15 year old sister before she even said a work you waved your hand in her face and said no out. The point of the matter is that we were customers, eating at YOUR table out front. My mother in law was a regular every week. Your daughter’s attitude is disgusting and so is yours and seems like a lot of Eastbourne know it. A care home came to visit you and commented on my Facebook saying you were all so rude and will never go back to you. Maybe you don’t like the elderly… . We wanted a table but they were full due to the airshow, we sat at THEIR table outside and was lining up to order takeaway when my 15year old sister and disabled mother in law needed a wee. My autistic 5 year old nephew was also desperate for a wee. My sister walked in and the owner with black hair straight away put her hand in her face and said “no no no out, you can’t use the toilet” maybe she was stressed as it was busy and maybe had people going in there who weren’t customers. My sister then said “I’m a customer I’m eating your food on your table there out the front” . She said no and then my sister came out to us. My mother in law was desperate too so took her back in and said I have a disabled card here I also need to use the toilet and we are your customers. My mother in law is a regular in this establishment and goes in there weekly! My mother in law said “I’m going to wet myself I’m desperate” with that the owner replied “well it’s better you wet yourself outside then in here” My sister in law then came in and said my mother is disabled she needs the toilet and we are literally customers. The owner got the attention of a couple of other staff to usher them out while shouting at them. All the while other customers were using the toilet. Under the Equality Act 2010, businesses should make reasonable adjustment for those with disabilities. Even with that in mine… we were paying customers! My partner then went in as his mother and sister were being pushed around in a tiny space and the owner had a horrible attitude. He asked what’s going on here and they went and got the chef. On the way out we said we’re making a complaint as we are paying customers sitting at their tables about to eat their food! The younger waitress then pushed my mother in law out the door. She has a disability with her leg and nearly fell flat on her face if we didn’t catch her. They then proceeded to lay hands on my 15 year old sister and shove her out the door too. The chef then followed us outside as if abusing us inside wasn’t enough and shouted at us all outside. He told us that the owner would have asked if we were customers and that he knows this however he works in the kitchen and her front of house meaning that he has no idea what she says to the customers. The woman didn’t ask this she was straight away nasty and shouting and we were trying to tell her we were customers. We had only got there about 5 minutes previous and were lining up for a family dinner as my mother in law visits there weekly so knew she wanted to eat there. Absolutely shocked at the ability to refuse a customer/disabled people/children from using the toilet when we were eating at their establishment. We will be taking this much further

the chicken was barley cooked, onions rings were soggy. mushy peas weren't nice. I will never order from here again! very disappointed

We saw Harry Ramsden's and started fancying fish & chips. Went in, place was about half full with many uncleared and unoccupied tables. Waitress said food would take about half an hour which we thought was a waste of time. We kept walking and at the opposite end of the street came across Qualisea. Much more friendly and willing, good food arrived within 10 minutes. My partner thought her plaice was lovely firm, white and chunky. I thought my haddock was very thin and a bit sloppy. Then we realised we were eating each others' fish! Once we righted our error, we both enjoyed it very much and would happily return without bothering to look at Ramsden's next time.

Can't understand the negative reviews. Visited with two friends in July 2024. Served by a youngish male who was courteous, polite and provided great customer care. Our meal was hot, delicious and went down a treat. Scorching day so we were really pleased that there was enough room to eat outside under an umbrella. We would recommend Qualisea and will eat there again when we are next in Eastbourne.

Dreadful, food was greasy, dried up fish and very poor service. all in all I would not go back, I am a resident of Eastbourne .

Very nice food and at a good price

Went here specifically for Gluten Free fish and chips. As a Coeliac asked all the usual questions, seemed quite knowledgable. Had to wait for GF frier to heat up, no bother at all. Batter on fish was beautifully cooked and obviously really fresh, chips equally lovely. My only negatives, the sachets of sauce were all 'May Contains' and therefore not coeliac friendly. Not a huge issue, but given they are an attractive venue for Coeliacs, it would have been nice for them to continue the theme throughout the meal. My daughter is a ketchup monster and also coeliac so wasn't able to enjoy her chips to the full. Staff could have been a bit more welcoming, but not to the point it would put me off returning.

Regrettably my wife didn't like her fish, saying it tasted as if it had been lying around a while. Mine was great. Wish she had told me so I could have informed the restaurant at the time. Nonetheless it ought to have been better. Service wasn't great either on this occasion. We've been visiting Qualisea for 20 years, so disappointed with our latest visit.

Jacket potato was Rock hard but I'm told that's how it's meant to be but was told by the unpleasant manager I will be paying for it. Also there glasses were filthy excuse was there's a problem with there dishwasher no apologies. Halfway through the meal it was OK for the waitress to reach over my plate to retrieve a knife so she could set up the table next to us she didn't even check it wasn't used? The manager walked into the trolley smashing a glass onto the floor then walked off moaning loudly about what staff member put the glasses there, took her a while to pick up the glass which loads was left after we had to tell her for her to say oh well if people treed on it thats there fault? Not the best experience left the restaurant to the manager slagging me off to her workers, be proud of your customer services

Shop said no delivery driver but the driver who delivered said he was waiting an hour for the food.

We were recommended this place by the lady on the information desk at Burling Gap. What a treat! The menu choice was extensive & the food was cooked to perfection. We had the haddock which was very tasty.

It's one of the best fish and chips I've eaten. Top service, and you can get a pint of John Smiths or why not try a Long Man's best bitter, which goes down a treat. If you are visiting Eastbourne, it's a must.

The food was very good. It is a very busy place. The downside is that it has only one shared toilet, you can only imagine the queue.

Rubbish customer service, they are rude and disrespectful and Under the Equality Act 2010, it is now illegal to discriminate against people with disabilities when it comes to toilet use or access. Any facilities offered must provide equal access for disabled people. Therefore you have to let a disabled person use toilet we was customers. Rude and they shoved my mum. We had a cancer patient, we had a disabled women with a disable card who had a disable card. Also we had two children one who shoved a 15 year old girl who has ASD who was on her period who don’t do very well with sensory issues. 5 year old who needed toilet we was actually customers……… rude

It was very quiet here at 2:30 on a Monday afternoon, but what great service we received. Very friendly staff and the food arrived within minutes of ordering. Really tasty fish, a good size and great crispy batter. It felt a tad expensive at first, but the quality made it seem worth it. The restuarant and toilet were clean, and we would highly recommend!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We ordered on Wednesday evening for delivery at a local holiday park. They were able to deliver to the park even without being confident on the park map, we arranged to meet at the entrance. The gluten free options were amazing and they even called back and offered us the onion rings gluten free. We turned this down but then found out our GF guest would love them so we called back. I offered to pay for a 2nd portion assuming they would have cooked our non GF ones already and they changed it to GF no problems. Didn’t even need to meet delivery driver at the entrance she found our caravan plot. 10/10! We visit Eastbourne/Pevensey a lot and we will be definitely coming back! Wish you delivered to London!!

Table of 5 was welcomed and shown to table. Reasonably priced. Kids meal plentiful. Strawberry milkshake was loved by the kids. Even got a little extra. Always good. We will be back.
