The Beach Deck in Eastbourne

I love coming back here every time I'm in Eastbourne. Delicious food and proximity to the beach make this place unique.

A lovely spot for a breakfast or a bite to eat while enjoying the scenery. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and reasonably priced and the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. Will certainly visit again when I'm back to visit family.

Amazing food, views and service. I had smashed avocado on sour dough with poached egg. Hubby had full English. Would recommend.

Waited half an hour to get a table, then told breakfast had finished, then told once seated that they were only doing drinks and had to wait for food as they were busy and had not started lunch….. poor service!

This was our second visit. Great location near to sea, (and car park if needed) and both times we have sat out on the deck overlooking the sea. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food is nice, some traditional and modern dishes. However, the service definitely needs improvement. There were around 5/6 waiters but they are badly managed so therefore there is never one when you need one. They have a queue for a table system, but we watched at least 5 groups of people walk back away because no one was monitoring it. There were some empty tables that needed clearing that could have moved the queue along quicker. We asked for ketchup but never received it and my drink was wrong but no waiter around to ask for it to be changed…. The drinks had already arrived after the food too! Even paying was hard as the girl inside was very busy and no one else around. Eventually we did pay but It would have been easy to walk off without paying, I wonder how many do?!!

The Beach Deck does incredible food for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff are always friendly and chatty. The prices are good value for the food you get and wonderful views out to the sea. Perfect place for any occasion.

It's a great location in Eastbourne when it's warm and sunny if you want a view of the sea, sitting outside above path level. The service was good and staff very friendly. The cod and chips we had were quite a plateful, I found it hard to finish. It was a change to have everything (bar the peas) on a plate together instead of chips in a basket/tin/mug/hat/whatever.

This was our first time visiting, we met friends there. It was a nice clean restaurant, we had breakfast and it was reasonably priced. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. It had a nice atmosphere.

The menu looked good and the server was friendly and efficient. We order the full English, I asked if I could swop the mushrooms for bacon- but the server explained this was not the policy otherwise everyone would do it! She offered to keep the mushrooms off my plate and said I could ‘buy’ extra bacon. I declined. The breakfast looked appealing when it arrived though I did have to use my napkin to soak up some of the grease on the plate. The meal was ‘ok’, it was expensive for just an ‘ok’. The ladies toilet didn’t have soap or the dispenser didn’t work- I’m not sure which, but in this day and age it should work! My husband said the male toilet soap dispenser did work. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work either. All told, it was just ‘ok’

Great views and great location. The menu is varied and everyone will find something that tickles their taste buds. I had the delicious vegan Cauliflower bowl which came with edamame, rice, carrots etc. It was filling and tasty. For dessert I had vegan warm chocolate brownie with vegan ice cream which was divine. There is loads of seating outside facing the sea and inside. Great place to accommodate all, including big parties and big groups. Great decor, staff are friendly and efficient. I would definitely go back!

No idea what the problem is with the staff here, came in yesterday and wasn’t aware they closed at 5 at first. Ordered a pint of Cruzcampo and another 10 minutes before closing. I’ve had a cold and a really bad cough but still tried to drink the second pint quickly as I felt bad for keeping them open.. stayed until 5:15 (15 minutes after they closed) and left half my pint as I felt bad I couldn’t drink it as quick as I wanted because I still had a bit of a sore throat. Came in today and ordered a pint alone this time, and I don’t know whether they think I’m deaf or plain stupid but I can hear them while I’m sitting outside outright taking the piss and telling staff who weren’t working what happened yesterday. I could’ve stayed an extra 15 minutes and finished my drink but I felt bad so to hear them today taking the mickey saying things like “awww mummy I can’t finish my drink I have a sore throat” is a bit of a kick in the teeth. I’ll put the unprofessionalism down to the fact the girls working here are young and naive. I’m not going to walk off without paying for this pint or make a scene, but I won’t be coming back. Do better.

Great location and very decent food. Seating inside & out, so good whatever the weather. Not great value for money though. Three of us ate and it came to just over £54, which I think is a little rich for what it is.

Absolutely gutted, visiting friends in Eastbourne and booked via email. Tried calling as no reply via email to confirm booking. Called and was told no one checked the emails also they were going to be closing early. Very unprofessional :(

Busy, popular place even on a Sunday morning. Do not order croissant or pain au chocolat- very disappointing. Other breakfasts looked lovely.

Bad points.Walked in was told bye three different people,will be with you in a minute.Ten minutes later ,was shown to a table although there was five empty tables that I could see.15 minutes later, and due to frustration, I had to wave my hands in the air to get the attention of a waiter.If you want a peaceful meal and a quiet chat this is not the place as it was really noisy,and hard to hear what each other was saying.Good points.The view was really nice looking over the ocean and the meal was adequate.So three stars about right.

We ordered some starters with drinks. The view of the sea is lovely at this place and the staff are friendly. I think visiting this place st least once is good. Given the atmosphere, it creates memories. I would recommend this place.

We took a chance and popped in here for a bite to eat after a swim at the Sovereign Center. Lovely evening, stunning view and the food was great. Moderately priced as well for a family of 4. Highly recommended!!! Photos of half eaten food!!! 😲

staff a bit rude. my partner is not english and can come across a little aggresive thats the way europeans are. we ordered cream on top of her ice coffee and paid for it. when it arrived it did not have cream and my partner asked to have cream as she had the same a couple a weeks ago here, she may of came across a little offish when asking for the cream we paid for. im english and was listening to the staff who said to her you should of asked for cream when you ordered as we did ??? and spkoe to my partner the way you should not be to a customer we had no issue it seemed the staff wanted to make it an issue. its a little cream we paid for why the rudness it was embarrasing. live local wont be returning.

Staying at a local hotel and decided to give the included breakfast a miss and head out... So glad we did, the breakfast here was top notch! Fantastic quality food and service - fantastic location.

A familiy group of nine of us had supper here. It's a clean modern restaurant and the food was excellent. The fish and chips looks a bit minimal, but was first class and the other meals were also. Will definitely go again.

Really nice lunch time fish’n’chips, calamari and burgers. Good menu choices, locally sourced and freshly cooked. Service was great. Great views of the beach and seaside. Long Man beers as well. Highly recommend. We were a walk in group of 5, not the busiest Saturday I’m sure, but we were quickly seated, service was good

Great place to visit and have food. Very busy but still had great food. Very noisy if you wear a hearing aid.

The staff here are really friendly. The food was good and I sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day. I have been here before a few back and enjoyed it then too.

Lovely venue with a reasonable choice of food. I’m good weather the deck offers a beautiful view but you may have to fight the Seagulls for your food. Would definitely recommend

Fish was delicious, other food was fine. But the service was incredibly slow. It took 30 minutes from requesting the bill to receiving it and it wasn't even busy. Location is lovely though so still had a nice time

Can't fault this place. Friendly and efficient staff, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. I've been here about three times now in quick succession. Great spot right on the seafront too.

Went for breakfast which was tasty and reasonably priced. The sun was out so it was busy but we were able to sit outside on large decked area looking out over the beach. Service was friendly and efficient.

It’s a nice, clean restaurant with a lovely view of the Eastbourne beach, would recommend going swimming early in the morning and going here for a eggs Benedict!

Met up with family for breakfast and it was very good and service was very good. Definitely will go back

Delicious food,able to cater for gluten free. Waitress was friendly and chatty. Reasonably priced. Busy place with a great atmosphere. Would definitely go back. . Every staff member I encountered was really lovely from getting seated to ordering food nothing is too much trouble for them. my waitress happily checked with the kitchen what food could be made gluten free. I’m really impressed with the service I received and I even left a tip ☺️

My favourite for years and years now is the “chorizo hash” accompanied with an orange juice and Americano and in the summer iced black coffee. The sea view is relaxing to see any time of the year inside or out.

I can not speak highly enough of Emily and our meal tonight. The food was excellent and the staff were all so nice. We will definitely re visit.

One of the best fish and chips I have ever tried. Fish was so fresh and came with a big portion of chips for only £15. The service was very quick and attentive. Enjoyed the great food with amazing view.

Beautiful seafront cafe. We had a lovely breakfast of chorizo and eggs with great coffee. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing view over the sea.

Not the best experience we’ve had. Granted it was Fathers Day so they were busy but they did not have enough staff and those that were on were quite brusque and speaking disparagingly about some customers. We’ve not seen the guy who was in charge before but guess from his manner he was used to working in a pub. Hope it was a one off and the normal staff are back soon

Just got here and staff very nice

Toilets very dirty. Cubicles far too small to use hygienically. Not a good sign in a restaurant. Will not be going back.

Just had cake and coffee but it is right on the beach how could it possibly be bad.

Waited to be seated for 10 minutes and was completely ignored by servers.. no “il be with you in a minute.’”… nothing! There were free table so Me and my friend decided to sit down ourselves. We sat again for another ten minutes whilst 3 waitresses walked past completely oblivious. It wasn’t overly busy. We then asked a passing server for a menu. She then plonked them down and abruptly said. MENUS. Eventually got to order 2 iced coffees. 1 came. The server said i only have one ordered. No sorry… So we left due to the abysmal miserable service. This wasnt one person having an off day . This was all of them. Its a real shame as the views of the sea and the nice weather is really appealing. But when you feel uncomfortable being there it ruins this experience. We wont be going back.

£17 for a burger and they pay their waiting staff minimum wage. Doesn't seem right to me!

We have been a few times to The Beach Deck. The food is a bit of a mixed bag, with some things being really good, but some of the staples like Scampi and Fish and chips are definitely better elsewhere, brunch and breakfast has been pretty good. Coffee is nice and good beer. When the sun is out the terrace is a lovely place to sit.

Yesterday lots of empty tables, big queue waiting, one staff member seen. Previous visit similar but I went in looking for someone to help, which worked but they appear to be very short staffed, both of these were Sundays. Obviously long wait for food due to not enough waiting staff. Shame because food is nice and view really good.

Asked for no mushrooms (didn't want a replacement either) server said she was afraid to ask the chef not to plate them as he was in a bad mood. What kind of place is this? Terrible that the poor server was too frightened. Definitely won't be going back!

We didn't eat here, we left after a waitress was extremely rude to us because we passed the 'wait here to be seated sign'. We had been there 5 mins with no one coming or acknowledging us and as our daughter is disabled so we politely asked if we could sit at one of the empty tables. She sent us back to wait behind the gate after exchanging a 'look at these thickos' face with her colleague who then also went from being polite to rude too, absolutely aghast that we had asked to sit down as though this was the most peculiar thing she had ever experienced in years of waitressing. We appreciate we made an error of judgement, and should have waited for an indefinite period of time with waitresses walking past us without a greeting - but that attitude is completely uncalled for.

What a beautiful little spot. Was a very windy/cold day on the front but once inside it was very cosy and warm and welcoming. Looks great on the eye. Nice decor inside. All the ladies running the place were so nice also. Food was all spot on. Can imagine this being an amazing spot on a hot summers day.

Such a shame to write a negative review, especially as the food is just glorious here! The chefs are fantastic, so please rest assured, you will get a decent meal here. The views are stunning, no matter the weather. The thing that lets this special little place down, is the front of house staff. Unfortunately, they are not polite, and struggle with their customer service skills - if you get a smile then you are incredibly lucky. I do not consider having my drink slammed down in front of me kind or professional. When asking where your drinks are after 15 minutes, despite the place not being terribly busy - you don't, as a paying and returning customer, expect to be frowned at or told they have to ask whether or not I made the order - simply advise me you'll get it and then check my bill! It's not rocket science! There are a few members of staff who begrudgingly work here it feels, as they talk in a robotic manner, say 'have a nice day' when they look like they want to slap you. My daughter (3 years old) was actually worried the last, and final time we went here, as she felt so bad for taking a seat when there was a queue. We hadn't realised as had come up from the ramp with her bike, and there is no sign facing that way to say 'please wait here to be seated'. And on previous occasions, we have been advised to take a seat when we want to sit outside. We did so and got into trouble. I wish I'd left then, as it was not a pleasant lunch after this due to the shocking behaviour of some staff members, who frightened my daughter and made her feel so uncomfortable. Caution here also, as they don't always show you the bill, they just tell you price and expect you to do a contactless payment... We won't be returning and won't recommend this place, as we have done, to our friends and families. Service is part of the experience, and this is somewhat lacking, and very pathetic.
