A stunning steak meal from Cru as as always Jordan, Hardy and there fabulous chef delivered not only AMAIZNG food but also wonderful service! Can’t wait to be able to eat back in the restaurant.

Had a Sunday evening meal delivered for my Mother's Birthday held during lockdown. Fantastic pre-order service and delivery bang on time. Good amazong quality and very ample portions! Hope many continue to support this excellent local business.

The third Sunday lunch take away from Cru and always consistent, amazing flavours and would highly recommend!!

Cru were so accommodating for me to sample the 7 course tasting menu - which was fantastic. The service was excellent and the majority of the seven courses were delicious - my compliments to the chef. My favourite was the wild boar scotch egg. The restaurant had a buzzy friendly vibe yet small and intimate at the same time. The only thing that's letting you down is the toilet facilities - come on guys, we're in the middle of a pandemic and your toilets were shabby. Get them refurbished and then I'll give your restaurant an 'Excellent' score.

Took the opportunity of lockdown to try the Sunday Lunch takeaway offering. Great service and the food was fantastic. Loved both the Nut Roast and the Meat roasts , with perfect Roast potatoes and best ever Red Cabbage! Autumn Crumble is a must as delicious. Probably could have done without the Crab Arancini balls to start, but far too tempting and well worth it. Cant wait till the next order !

I went to Cru with a friend for dinner one Friday night recently and have tk say that it was one of the best meals out I've had in a long time, particularly in the South East. I had the best fillet steak I've ever had, a delicious wine to match and the team there were just awesome. Thanks so much to Harvey, Jordan and Erin who looked after us so well.

Booked a meal here on a short stay in Eastbourne. Difficult to find the restaurant - down a dark street with little signage - so you need google maps! Felt slightly more cramped than other restaurants with tables spaced but still felt a little near each other. Food was very good and the staff friendly. But meal slightly marred as my husband's wine glass shattered in his hand, just after being poured, covering the table. Staff moved us and cleared up the mess but no offer of replacing the wine. So paid for a bottle of wine and only had three quarters of it through no fault of our own. Shame that they couldn't make this small gesture as the rest of the customer service had been good.

We booked this for a dinner for two without the family or our dog. Lovely atmosphere.We had a glass of fizz and a bottle of rose. Both were very good.We ordered a selection of small plates. The bread from Poppyseed bakery was lovely.The small plates were very good. The key lime pie for dessert was just right, not too sweet.A special thank you to Megan for her very attentive service.

Booked a table for 5 people at 7pm - very surprised when allocated our table to find we were definitely not even a metre apart from the table of four behind. Whilst the food lived up to it’s reputation we felt uncomfortable staying beyond the time it took to eat our meal, in hindsight we perhaps should have decided at that point to turn around and walk out. No monitor checks on entry though staff were all wearing face masks. Food and service very good - but in the current environment we need to feel assured we are in a safe environment,

Had an amazing nut roast and beef roast with the truffle cauliflower cheese. It tasted amazing and was a large portion. Well worth the money. The staff were very welcoming and very attentive and were very accommodating. Enjoyed a gorgeous espresso Martin after too

Everything was excellent. The food was really delicious, especially the lemon curd goats cheese and the humus. We loved the wine selection and ambience. Will definitely be back if we are in Eastbourne (or somewhere nearby!) again.

I came to Cru for the first time on a Saturday night with my husband and our fiends to celebrate a birthday.We had read lots of reviews before coming to make sure we chose a good restaurant and I’m happy to say we weren’t disappointed.Small concise menu, all our food was absolutely delicious! Particularly loved the starters that we shared between the four of us - the beef croquette my highlight!Our friends love their wine so we’re very impressed with the huge selection.The staff were friendly, the restaurant was full so had a lovely atmosphere.All in all would highly recommend!

For the past year my sister and I have had the most amazing Airbnb booked in Eastbourne Harbour for our family, 11 adults for a surprise weekend away/celebration for our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Our friends that live in Eastbourne said that there really was only one place to go, Cru. From the moment I emailed and requested to book, Jordan couldn’t have been more helpful, as their menu is seasonal and changes on a regular basis , he explained that he would email the menu to me a few days before so that we could make our choices (being such a large party) however suggested that our parents be exempt from this in order to keep the surprise going. As my daughter is a vegan, I was also conscious that there should be a vegan option, Jordan said that there were usually two starters and one main but that he would ask the chef to put on an additional vegan main to giver her a choice.Jordan, then also secured a table at their sister venue, Levels, later in the evening so that we were able to carry on celebrating.Sadly, on Monday of this week, the “Rule of Six” came into force and a years worth of planning and preparation was completely ruined, therefore we will not have the pleasure of eating at Cru as our trip has been cancelled, however, what I can say is that if their food is even half as good as their customer service, it will be amazing!Thank you Jordan for all of your support, professionalism, understanding and most of all outstanding customer service, we very much look forward to eating with you when we re-book our trip, hopefully in the spring when this madness has sorted itself out.

I have come here very often! The service fromThis family run business is superb and the staff always have time and go above and beyond.The food is one of the best I have ever tasted in Eastbourne cooked to perfection and a menu kept fresh, modern and delicious. Also boating the widest variety of top class wines to suit any pallet.I recommend This place to everyone and can’t wait for my next short rib or steak.Five stars every time

Apologies to the restaurant for being so slow with this review, we are there about a month ago!It was a really delicious meal. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff found us a table and we were so happy that they did.We just had mains, no starters or desserts. We had the steak (with chips) & the pork chop (with mash & veg) and both meals were delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant has a lovely friendly vibe.It's probably a good idea to make a reservation as it seems really busy.

The food, staff and wine at the restaurant were excellent. My wife and I have not eaten out much since March due to concerns over the transmission of Covid-19.Seating is arranged sensibly to maintain distancing, antibacterial gel and enhanced cleaning are all in place so this was not a concern.The Bavette steak we had for lunch was well presented and tasted great. As for the bottle of Chablis, simply the best wine I have tasted in a long time.No pictures as we only thought about if afterwards.The staff were all friendly and welcoming, so much so that I booked a table for lunch the next day with some friends. The beef croquette and duck were excellent.Thanks for making the Bank Holiday weekend enjoyable.

We were staying just outside Eastbourne for a “staycation” break with the kids over August bank holiday weekend. We found here online and we are so pleased we found this little gem. Our daughter is anaphylactic to nuts and when I called to book a table I felt so comfortable with their allergy awareness. We arrived and my husband had scallops for starters. Me and the kids had a roast and my husband had their burger. We all said it’s the best roast we have ever had in a restaurant. We also felt very safe Covid wise too. Our daughter felt so safe with her meal. Gorgeous food, lovely drinks, and great service. A real little hidden gem.

We’ve been to Cru a few times and have always had a great experience. This is why we decided to treat my parents to a meal there. Our experience in one word - fan-bloody-tastic!!!!When we arrived there was a misunderstanding about how many were in the booking but they dealt with it professionally and ensured we had a table.Jordan looked after us once she knew we had a nut allergy in our group. She was attentive, professional, friendly and looked after us brilliantly.The food and wine was delicious. I LOVE the Nyetimber. Can’t wait to go back!

I had no idea that Cru existed before last week even though I live very close to Eastbourne. What a hidden gem. I have a lengthy list of food intolerences which often makes eating out very stressful for me, however, having emailed Jordan once I'd made my booking she went out of her way to accommodate me. Not only did she contact me by email, she also phoned to run through the menu with me to make sure everything would be OK for me. My starter and main course were adapted by the chef and were absolutely delicious. The chef even made an Eton Mess for me so that I could indulge in a pudding. And the cherry on the cake - Cru had oak milk so I could enjoy a lovey coffee to finish off the evening. We will definitely be returning - great food, great wine, great atmosphere and exceptional customer service.

What a fabulous place this is. Amazing vibe and equally amazing tapas and a very extensive wine list. It’s small so you will need to book but it’s worth it. Very well done.

My friends and I went for dinner at CRU and were amazed by how delicious the food was! We are all from London and felt we found a restaurant in Eastbourne that was of such a high standard but just half the price!!! The staff were so kind, funny and extremely helpful. The atmosphere was amazing and after our dinner we moved outside for an after dinner cocktail. The owners have a great knowledge of wine and are soo knowledgeable! A fantastic selection on offer! If you are after a perfect night out... this is the place!

OK. We probably are spoilt living in London but we were really excited at trying this place due to the reviews as we have found it really hard to find a a great venue with great food in Eastbourne, which we've been visiting quite a bit recently. However, sadly we found it fairly good but not much more than that to be honest and it was crazily noisy to the point of being unpleasant.Pluses = pleasant, helpful staff, bread was great, wine list was decent. The creme brulee was good. Negs = food was fairly good but nothing brilliant and pretty expensive for what you got. We started with the crab and the short rib which were fine but nothing special. The hake in the main course was cooked really well but why were there loads of pickled onions in it which made the whole dish really sharp and unappealing. We left loads of them. Surely they should be non pickled pearl onions? We mentioned it to the staff who said they were pearl onions and said they would mention it to the chef but we heard nothing after. Whilst the bread was good, it was accompanied by a river of melted butter. I know it was a hot night but surely you can keep the butter cold? However, even if the food was fantastic, it was such a noisy place that it just wasn't relaxing. All in all it was disappointing. It maybe is a better cosy winter venue and we'd give it another go just to see if it's improved.

What a little gem this place is. After spending the day in Eastbourne we found ourselves eating in CRU. The ladies were so welcoming, very polite and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We had starters and Sunday dinner, our only regret was that we didn’t have room for dessert! Can’t wait to eat there again.

Outstanding. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is exceptional. It’s a warm and cosy little restaurant with a nice outside space. we ordered the scallops as a starter, the steak turf and pork chop for the main then a banoffee pie to finish and we enjoyed every single dish. This place really is 5 star. will definitely be going back.

Renowned for it's steaks and excellent wine cellar and wine knowledge, Cru is a gem of a restaurant with excellent food and service in a modern dining room with a great vibe. This was our first time for a Sunday lunch and it excelled our expectations. My husband had a truffle fed pork steak - the wagyu beef version of a pig! - which was excellent and the vegetables and yorkshire pudding were tasty accompaniments with choices of gravy to die for!

Never been here before but heard great things... decided that our first venture out after lockdown would be to try the roast dinners... we were not disappointed... so delicious, great super clean space, yummy wine and fantastic service... thank you

It was our wedding anniversary saw some good reviews on Facebook and booked well in advance and discovered a truly great eaterie the wine sommelier and owner and his staff where knowledgable and attentive to perfection and the food faultless... thank you Cru

Sunday Roast is really nice. Our son got this delivery for us as he had been having it for a few weeks as not living with us at the moment due to the situation with this current virus. All I can say is it was absolutely lovely and a welcome cheer up for us. We had lamb with all the trimmings and all I can say is we thoroughly enjoyed it! Cooked as I would do myself with the added element that I didn’t have to!!

1st March is a special day on the calender for my husband and I, so we chose our celebration lunch carefully. And it just happened to be a Sunday.CRU has been on our list of recommended restaurants for ages, so today was prefect, as they do a Sunday roast choice.We booked for 12:00. Seated wherever we would like, all tables are good tables.I ordered a Roast Sirloin, my husband ordered the Roast Lamb, both came with full traditional roast accompaniments, Stuffing, Roast potatoes and a large portion of mixed vegetables of carrots, red cabbage, parsnips, green cabbage, bacon wrapped sausage, and the biggest loveliest Yorkshire pudding ever!My compliments to the chef for melt in the mouth Roast beef, and ditto for the Lamb.We eat out on a Sunday regularly locally, but this was without doubt the best Roast dinner we've had for a long time, everything was perfectly cooked, yes even the roast potatoes didn't let it down.All washed down with a fabulous, albeit expensive, Malbec. There were cheaper wines but it was recommended by our super waitress Agnes, and it didn't disappoint! Unfortunately we didn't get round to a sweet, we were full up, just had coffees and the bill.Why we had taken so long to come here I don't know, but it's high on our list of regular restaurants now to frequent.Can't wait to go again soon and try the highly recommended Steaks and also the charcuterie platter.... Thank you for a wonderful celebration meal in a relaxed atmosphere, with fantastic service. Loved it!

I had a table booked for my birthday and I just can't praise the place and staff on duty enough. It was 8 of us all together and my girls were looked after so well, prosecco was pouring, the food was great, vegan option available (which was so amazing), coffees served. We had the best time! I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Staff was always smiling, checking on us, topping up the drinks. Thank you! x

We were looking forward to Cru after all of the rave reviews but unfortunately had a mixed evening. We arrived at 21.15pm for our table and the greeting was fine and we were made to feel welcome. Coats were taken from us after the couple who arrived later than us and we were also served drinks after them too. We were informed that the scallops starter was not available which is my wifes favourite and after ordering mains the belly pork was also unavailable, again my wifes favourite. We were then assured my wife would get a lovely sirloin instead. Then we were told that a piece of pork had been found. Very confusing !!Starters arrived and the beef rib was wonderful but at the same time four young customers arrived and seated next to us and they repeatedly used foul language in a loud manner. This was ignored by all the staff but to be fair they were very busy. Our mains arrived but the pork was awful and not even crispy so was unfinished. We did not order dessert as our evening had now been ruined by the loud drinkers seated next to us. Mixed Affair - Are you a Luxury Dining Experience or a Lets get loud and drunk bar ? Not sure ? We unfortunately experienced a bit of both.

This is more a restaurant than a wine bar although the very high stools may not suit some. You need to request a standard table. It is a busy place with very welcoming staff so great for an evening out. The menu is small but does not quite live up to expectations. Scallops were bland and quite oily without being caramelised. The beef burger was good and lean with unusual chips. Overall an enjoyable atmospheric evening for a small party but don't expect haute cuisine. The bill worked out at about £42 each which is top of the range for Eastbourne.

With my wife having her birthday on New Years Eve each year always presents a challenge to find somewhere to eat at our preferred time of 1900.

My husband and I have been wanting to try Cru for a while and decided to visit one Friday evening. We booked in advance which I would reccomend doing as it was really busy.

Fantastic food, service was brilliant, Jordan the owner saw to all our needs and gave us a complimentary drink after we had finished , which was a very special touch .We all would return again .

Great flavours, beautifully presented. Extensive wine list with range of prices from £20 upwards. Cosy atmosphere and good service. We will be back. Best food we have found in Eastbourne to date. (We live nearby)

Well, that was a bit good! Just returned after a wonderful dinner at Cru. We are staying in Eastbourne for our wedding anniversary and I found Cru through trip advisor. It looked great, sounded great and was great! The staff were so friendly and personable which made a huge difference to our experience. I’ve recently had to become ‘grain free’ which is a pain when navigating menus, but once these guys realised what I needed they guided me through the menu with care and kindness. The food was fab, lots of depth to each dish and presented very well. Thank you for such a special evening.

Great Place for a Candle Light Dinner for Two. i went there with my Husband as a last thought but was very pleased i did we have been back at least once every two weeks and with friends they are also going here on there own.

Had a lovely evening with friends at Cru. The food was a little slow to be served but we were a large table and the last to arrive in the restaurant.

Everything about this restaurant is on point. The food, the wine, the champagne, the staff and the atmosphere. Such a lovely meal, the steak last night was incredible, and it’s so nice to be served by people who know what they’re talking about. Would highly recommend!

We ate here one Friday evening. The restaurant became quite busy, so the noise level was buzzing, in a good way. I've been in noisier restaurants. We had a high table with matching chairs which was fun climbing up to for me, I'm only 5'2"! Our meal was delicious, the wine was nice, but not what we ordered, as they couldn't find it. Maybe they ran out. The bill was quite steep, but we could have selected cheaper mains. We chose steaks, so that's want we fancied. We would goo again.

Amazing Sunday lunch, the squid starer was amazing as was the roast chicken, perfect end with the amazing deserts. Would defiantly recommend this restaurant can’t wait to go back and try the evening menu.

Went to Cru for the 1st time today , don’t know why we haven’t been before? Simply great food me and my wife wanted a roast with all the trimmings, I had the lamb my wife had the beef came with lots of veg extra gravy etc , we also had the cauliflower cheese with truffle which was to die for !! Worth going just for that! Presentation of the food was good served on lovely plates. Two lovely ladies serving very attentive and a big thank you to the chef Dan.

Very nice, pleasant atmosphere, the size (small) gives a nice warm home feeling. It was full, so the energy was nice.

The surroundings are lovely, with a cosy basement bar feel. We both enjoyed our meal well enough, but for the price we paid it did fall a bit short. You can tell the direction the menu is intending to go in, but the execution of the dishes we had didn’t warrant the price (£100 for two courses and a bottle of alright wine). I had scallops to start, which were meant to come with a jalapeño dressing, but this didn’t really taste of much. My husband had burrata and heritage tomato salad, which was very nice - but for some reason also came with a large pile of dry rocket and cherry tomatoes. We both had iberico pork chops with a blue cheese butter that unfortunately overpowered what is a very nice piece of meat. Service was friendly but a bit hurried and over-eager, despite the bar/restaurant being empty when we arrived. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but with much of Eastbourne still to discover we probably won’t be going back.

Cru is a small, perfectly formed restaurant in the town. There is ample parking around. Entry is via a basement stair. The food is exceptionally good and the wines are all high quality. Service is attentive and not too much and the waitress was exceptionally good with checking everything with chef before we ordered (food allergy). It was a shame we were unable to use our Airbourne Programme discount as it was a Saturday night, but to be very honest, the experience was well worth the lack of discount and this restaurant deserve every success and thank them for a perfect experience

Myself and a group of friends came down on Saturday night and this place just never disappoints!! The food is amazing. I had the steak that was on special - the owner said he travels to London to personally select the steaks with the whitest fat, the best colour and cut of steak - I think it really makes a difference. It was perfectly cooked and so flavoursome. The staff are lovely and the drinks are great too - you can’t pick a bad wine in this place! There’s so much choice and variety, really there’s something for everyone here. This is the best and coolest place to go to in Eastbourne by a long mile! Looking forward to our next visit already x

We wanted to have some good steak and so we booked this place for dinner. Definitely loved the vibe at the place and the waitress who served us was so lovely. The lobster and salmon gyoza sound amazing but was a bit disappointing. It was all minced up and we expected a bit of texture from the meats of the lobster and salmon. The sharing board of surf and turf was the one we loved. Although nothing special with the lobster, the steak was one of the best. It was cooked beautifully although steak with bone was hard to manage. It went so well with the sauce and it was good portions too. The steak was definitely worth paying for!

Excellent food, service, value. Best burger I have had in months. Very accommodative for allergies and kids. Great attitudes, good vibes from a buzzing atmosphere and staff. Definitely eat here again.

Cru hosted a bottomless prosecco cream tea for me and my friends this weekend. I am a regular diner at Cru - my fiancé and I love to eat here - however this was my first cream tea experience at Cru. This place is truly a gem in Eastbourne. The food is exquisite, you can taste the time and effort the chefs have put into sourcing and preparing the finest ingredients with care and attention. In addition to the exceptional work the kitchen put in the front of house team give extraordinary service and the wine list is a work of art with wines for every occasion and taste. This is THE place to eat and drink in Eastbourne!

16 Mar Cru Eastbourne. Visited on a Saturday night in March. The entrance is below street level, down some steps, as the property was an old town house with basement. The restaurant is small but tables aren't too crammed in, with a mixture of proper tables and stools at bar type shelves on one wall. We had a proper table. The welcome was warm and friendly and the service throughout was very "keen" with waiting staff overheating a question and keen to provide the information. We found the portions / plating to be more starter & main than the expected (from their website) tapas style, however this worked very well and all our dishes were excellent and prettily presented. I started with a delicious scotch egg, lamb main and ice-cream dessert (see photos).

I usually only do good or bad reviews....now, Cru isn’t exactly bad, but it’s not good value for money either (which means bad, right ?)

I have visited Cru few times with friends and family and have never been disappointed with food or the service. Everything is outstanding! Give it a go and you won't be disappointed.

Visited on a cold Sunday to try their food after seeing the reviews on TA. Tables were full but bear in mind that it’s a very small place and when full it get very very loud. I had the Sunday roast, my husband had the risotto and my son the burger. The food took a full hour to arrive. A waitress apologised a couple of times but this didn’t help as we were starving. When food finally arrived it was blunt and uninspiring; nothing special. With them pricing you expect delicious food and all other pieces of the experience to be in place. Sadly not. I understand the hype as this sort of restaurant was missing from Eastbourne but I’d expect a lot more. Will give it a second try to taste the spring menu and see if anything changes...

Having been a regular here for well over a year now it never fails to deliver. Friendly staff and super food. Had the Sirloin this time and it was a delight. Will be back again soon!

We had an amazing meal. The fillet steak was to die for. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. YOU MUST GO.

A big thank you to the staff at Cru for making our evening meal such a pleasant experience. My mother wanted an omelette which was not on the menu but this request was granted with no fuss and with a great attitude. Food was tasty, a small menu which is always a good sign. Fresh ingredients and I had the Special of the Saturday eve in question, a tasty pasta /pancetta dish.

Had a great night out yesterday at Cru. We loved trying some new wines as recommended by the friendly owner, and accompanied them with some small plates which were all delicious.

The food and wine at Cru are simply excellent! Some interesting things ( that are not pasta) for vegetarians too.

We visited Cru for a meal on a short break to Eastbourne. What a great restaurant. The food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We came here for date night, I honestly cannot fault the service, the food or the wine.

I have had the pleasure of eating in many restaurants around the world and I can honestly say none of them are better than cru,the food is fantastic as is the massive wine list (the merlot was nice)the staff could not be more helpful as with the owners Jordon and hardy.

The restaurant prides itself on its wines (which are excellent) - but that should not detract from the quality of the food. The menu is interesting and varied, with complex flavours beautifully presented. My scallops coated in Saki were superb. I had taken guests who are extremely well travelled and they were very impressed too.

Had an overnight stay in Eastbourne and booked a table at Cru. So glad that we did.

What a knockout meal we had at Cru. The reviews on here are no exaggeration. Cru is an absolute top notch location for dining.

Great food, bit pricey but probably the highest quality of bistro food your find in eastbourne! Waiter was great but took ages for food to come out, as in waiting an hour for starter and a hour for main. Would defo recommend though!

Following a booking snafu at a local hotel we ended up looking for an alternative venue in Eastbourne to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We needed a restaurant that had a varied menu for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans and could cater for our large group.
