As always faultless service,faultless staff and amazing food.A proper treat. A special mention has to go to 3 people. Nigel, owner and chef,Vic,chef and the one and only Ned the best front of house I’ve had the pleasure to know as well as being the bar manager.10/10

We had dinner here, and the pub/restaurant itself was great, beautiful decor. It was rather quiet and we felt a bit isolated in the restaurant (Friday night) with only a few others in there so felt a bit awkward at times, especially with no background music, and seemed as though everyone could hear your conversation it was that quiet… I think they need more kitchen staff as it stated on the menu that the service may be slow due to small kitchen, perhaps this is way it was so quiet as they could only mange a set amount of bookings? It’s a shame as the couple infront of us were offered to either be sat in the booth area or the restaurant, they chose the restaurant and it seemed we had no choice as they wanted myself and my partner to be in the same room as the couple infront (which felt unfair as the booth area was more busy and I would have preferred it there!!) but they sat us two tables next to each other with a big board with special menu on it. Felt as though we were on an expedition and the couple were with us!! So the service I’d say was a shame due to this. However the food was amazing, we both got the lamb, it was divine.

Fabulous little hotel found by chance on an internet search. Staying for 1 night only but our room (room 5) is gorgeous, modern, light and spotlessly clean with a lovely little private patio. Our evening meal was amazing and the staff could not do enough for us, would highly recommend without hesitation.

Haven't been in the Wyvill for years but it was a special occasion so we decided to give the restaurant a try and glad we did. We had sirloin steak, chicken supreme, lamb shank and hake followed by puds. All were excellent. Staff were all friendly and a special mention to Ned who took care of us. Would definitely come back, maybe try their Sunday lunch.

What a great place to stay we had a wonderful room for the evening, had the most amazing food on Saturday night and an excellent breakfast on the Sunday morning, a great location to explore the eastern side of the Dales. Special thanks to the staff and in particular Ned, his customer service is second to none, front of house and customer service is up there with the best, would not hesitate coming back to stay and to eat the beautiful food again - 5 star *****

We called in for Sunday lunch whilst on a dog walk, staying nearby. The roast dinner lunches were gorgeous, large portions with plenty of veg and superb Yorkshire puddings! Great service and very dog friendly, we sat outside as the weather was lovely. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed at the Wyvil Arms for two nights on the 25th and 26th July, 2023. We found it on the internet and were drawn by the food menus. On arrival we were greeted by a receptionist, told that we had been upgraded and shown our room. It was room 5 which was delightful with a super shower and with doors opening on to a small private terrace. On arriving for dinner we met Jack who was extremely polite and most helpful. We were taken to our table which was in the main dining room, there was a large party of about 30 people from a nearby Army Camp who were obviously enjoying their night out. We were asked if we would like to move in to the bar for quieter time! We declined to move until after the first course when we said that we would like to. The two waitresses were were exceptional in that they prepared another table and moved our cutlery, drinks etc on to the new table with a minimum of fuss and exceedingly good grace, we were pleased to have a quieter rest of our meal. The meal was exceptional, all three courses were presented very well and were absolutely delicious. Our second evening there was a much quieter event and we stayed in the main dining room, we were served by Ned who was equally charming as the staff we had encountered previously. Breakfasts, chosen the night before were absolutely stunning and a real set up for the day ahead, beautifully cooked and served, again by Ned. The two nights were just superb and we are sure that should we be in the area again we will most definitely book with The Wyvill Arms. One small point, accommodation perfect, food magnificent, staff brilliant, ambience just perfect, however we did feel that the wine list was ambitiously priced.

Driven past here many times and so pleased we stopped for a meal. Great welcome and service. Chose the hake and it didn’t disappoint. Tasty and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended.

What an amazing Sunday lunch ! I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s a beautiful country pub/ resturant and B&B on the edge of a picturesque village and close to the Constable Burton Hall and Gardens. From what we could see of the garden (it was raining heavy) it looked really pretty. Welcoming attentive and fun staff. Ned brought our menus and had a chat with us , what a friendly fun and efficient guy he is. My husband had The Lamb roast and I asked for the well done Beef roast (half portion). It was as exactly as I like it. Oh my goodness you could drink the gravy it was sooo nice ! All of it was hot and tasty, Yorkshire pudding to die for. A lovely choice of desserts, I had the trio of crème brûlée a good choice it was delicious, my husband had sticky toffee pudding, equally as good. So Thankyou Chef ! We have been here before for a weekday lunch and I think it was pre covid so we forgot about, we will definitely be back sooner than that asap. To sum up: Lovely atmosphere Attentive and friendly staff Amazing food Beautiful location This is what a Sunday Lunch is all about. !!

First thing is dont drive past this place Once you turn in off the road there is a large car park and a decent sized covered outside seeting area You walk throygh a single door and you are shocked at the way it opens up The restaurant is dog friendly and the decor and ambience is very good The staff were top notch and very helpful and attentive Now onto the food Well you wont be disappointed Starters are good size and great quality Then the mains,I recommend the steak and onion pie again the portions were large and well presented We were a party of 6 adults and two cockers Very good place to eat and relax would definately recommend and we will be back without doubt Big thank to the staff what a jewel you have there Thank you

To the staff to the room, this was one hundred percent a five star place to stay. The gentleman at breakfast was possibly one of the best servers I’ve ever come across, the dinner staff at night were so attentive. The room was literally incredible, the bed was so comfy and the shower room was something else! Will 100 percent be back

As both myself and my wife are both professional Chefs and own a Thai restaurant in neighbouring Richmond, we were recommended the Wyvill by a friend. Well, I have to say it was possibly the BEST Sunday lunch I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection. My wife and son had the fish and chips and said it was superb. The pub itself is stunningly decorated and set in beautiful gardens. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, and James even showed me one of the immaculate and beautiful rooms. Last but not least, the service was second to none thanks in the main to the very attentive and efficient waiter Ned. Cannot recommend this stunning Pub enough, we will DEFINITELY be back,

We had to travel for a Christmas party with friends and family, but the location did not have enough rooms in the house to accomodate everyone, so we decided to book a room at the Wyvill Arms for several days.When you arrive at the location you are welcomed in the bar, where you can check in and make your way to the room.The room was cozy, we had a window with a view over the fields behind the house. Large bed, sitting area, coffee and tea and lots of space to put your luggage.The bathroom was wel equipped, and the shower had a rain shower head - really pleasant to take a shower here.At breakfast we oppted for full English breakfast and it was plenty ... a good start for the day.We had one large evening meal during our stay, and i ordered a steak. You should have seen the steak ... sourced from a local farm ... large size and well prepared ... one of the better steaks i had during the last year.If you would like to have a relax time and enjoy good food and drinks, this is the place to be. Visited the Wyvil Arms near Leyburn for my birthday, we have visited many times and weren’t disappointed. We always try to stay in room 7 which, as usual, was clean and very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and make it feel like a home from home, and the evening meal was of an excellent standard with plenty to choose from. Breakfast is always very relaxed and tasty. Will definitely keep going back.

Paid £85 per head for Christmas lunch and was unimpressed and a bit disappointed. Everything was rushed and like a well oiled machine. No personal contact. Lacked the front of house interaction and attentive host.No choice of starter or fish course. Soup was french onion which is not everyone's cup of tea. Fish dish nice. Main course was better. A choice here. But the vegetables were undercooked sadly.Best part was the sweet course! Loved the choice and mine was gorgeous! Coffee and tea and was one cup only. The after dinner mints were wrapped up Ferrero chocolates in tissue! Expected a bit more.No liquors offered or top up of drinks.Im really sorry but would not return for Christmas lunch again

We were on our way to Aysgarth on a Friday evening for the weekend. We wanted a meal en route as it was getting late. We passed the Wyvill Arms and it looked inviting on the outside. We certainly struck lucky being a November evening it was quiet, but the staff were fantastic, the food was really good. They really looked after us and I would highly recommend.

It must be 10 years since I last ate at the Wyvil. Being on holiday I thought it would be nice to revisit. The service and friendliness of this country pub hasn't changed, and is still a good place to eat. Thankfully they have moved away from more ala carte style and gone back to more traditional fair. Prices are reasonable but I do have one complaint.I ordered the pork dish which was listed as having 3 types of pork with English mustard mash. Sounded good and the pork was beautifully cooked, however the Mash was simply awful. Overpowering to the point it killed the taste of everything on the plate so I pushed it to one side. The cauliflower cheese veg was also a mistake. Pork and cheese don't mix! I wondered what made the chef think this combination would work? The mustard mash ruined the dish. Cheese on the broccoli added insult to injury. I wouldn't order it again.The puddings listed were enticing and I opted for the chocolate delice? Which turned out to be a thick mousse with a soft caramel inner, with salted caramel..unspecified. (Turned out to be salted caramel ice cream)..which was incidentally out of stock. Offered vanilla or rum and raisin as an alternative, I opted for vanilla which combined to make the pudding really nice. Absolutely delicious in fact, but on reflection I was glad the salted caramel been unavailable as it would have been overkill. Coffee to finish which came with a mint chocolate, rounded the meal off. Overall the meal was spoilt sadly by the poor main course. This definitely needs a rethink!Less is definitely more.

Whilst the Wyvill is on it's own in terms of location slightly out of Leyburn and Bedale it is well worth a visit, the Restaurant has been updated and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and good decor. The service is very good and the menu and food exceptional.

Right from the point when we walked in, we were greeted very warmly. The staff and the owner just made us feel at home. THe room we had (family room no 3) was very comfortable and roomy, pleanty of room for three women of a certain age to put all of their staff away. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless! We ate our evening meal here both nights and the main menu is very good, with a specials board as well. The portions were amazing and the prices very reasonable, and it was all cooked very well. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. Then the breakfast, again a really good choice, plenty of coffee and tea and all was cooked to perfection. We are back again next year in rooms 5 and 6 which are downstairs and really lovely. Every room is different and we just loved every minute.

Visited this friendly local pub for a family celebration dinner. You can eat in the bar but we opted to sit in the restaurant. The menu is varied and there is also a daily specials board. Our food was delicious and beautifully presented. Thankfully had just enough room for dessert; the brownie sundae was magnificent. The staff were really friendly, the birthday wishes and candle were much appreciated. Our compliments to the chef, will definitely be back!

I have just spent 3 nights at the Wyvill Arms. The team running the pub were all lovely and helpful. The rooms were beautifully furnished and clean. My friend and I chose rooms with small patios; it was nice to have the outside space. The food was absolutely amazing, including the breakfasts, the venison, duck and the salmon fish cakes. I would highly recommend staying at the Wyvill and hope to go back there again soon.

Husband and I looked for a new place to eat Sunday lunch and having looked at other reviews, decided to try here.

We stayed at the Wyvill for 3 nights and it’s been a great place to stay. We had a family room, it was comfortable, clean and quiet. Easy access by car to all major attractions within the area. The restaurant was lovely, food tasty, good drinks choices. Overall the place is easy going, children friendly, nothing was too much trouble. On our first night we had a power cut, but the staff were professional, offered advice were we could go to have dinner, flush lights and candles were quickly available.

We'd not been to the Wyvill Arms for a number of years so we chose it for our celebratory anniversary meal. It appeared that the restaurant room was trying to be contemporary, but despite the artwork it didn't quite work for us and felt sterile particularly with the big clock (that had stopped) on the end wall. However our waitresses were both super smiley and this helped to lighten the atmosphere. On the whole the food was good, but it didn't wow us. For example although my creamy garlic mushrooms came with nice crispy bread they were quite bland and not garlicky enough. Similarly I chose to have my steak covered in crushed peppercorns (didn't think I was a fairy!), yes the pepper sauce was good, but the heat of the peppercorns were over-bearing and spoilt the meal. Other members of my family gave their meals: salmon, cod and lamb 4* but not 5. Although the desserts looked interesting we were too full to try them. I really wanted to give a 5* review, but at the moment the Wyvill Arms are not quite there.

What a great place to stay. Excellent rooms very clean and well furnished our room led onto a small patio which was great but even more so as we had our Bernese Mountain Dog with us. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

My friend and I arrived at the Wyvill Arm’s and were met by friendly staff who showed us to our room, which was absolutely brilliant. We had twin beds in a dog friendly room, as my friend had her dog with her. There was an outside patio area, which was great. The bathroom was amazing with a walk in shower. The decor was fabulous.

Excellent food with good service. Good ambiance and easy access. Certainly go again when in Yorkshire

My husband and I ate here tonight, the food is superb, certainly not pub grub. Lovely fresh vegetables and home cooked food. The two waitresses were very friendly.Would highly recommend it.
