Sadly tomorrow is the end of our caravan season. So today was our final scheduled visit for our regular Saturday morning breakfast of the year. We are already looking forward to returning the 2nd Saturday in March 2025. If you want GREAT food, with GREAT service you are always assured of both together with a friendy welcome. Thankyou Wendy, Mick, Lisa and the rest of team "Granny's Kitchen".

This is the best breakfast in Richmond and I have tried many of the others over the years. It's a quirky little place and I love it and the people who work there. I often pop in for coffee and one of the home made pastries. They do get very busy and I have to be patient. But it is always worth the wait, the food is excellent.

Close to the market place but tucked away, this is a delightful little cafe. We had a table in the lovely quirky little courtyard. The 'dainty' sandwiches were the perfect size for lunch, rather than the huge portions usually on offer in other establishments. Will definitely call again next time we're in the area

We always visit when in Richmond - won’t go anywhere else now. Quirky little cafe, friendly staff, home made and baked goods, freshly made drinks, can’t fault it! I had a dainty sandwich today, plenty of tasty filling - ham and cheese, with a side salad with home pickled red onions. Absolutely delicious, then of course, cakes to take home from the vast selection downstairs. On reading a few negative reviews, people’s expectations differ but please give this cafe a chance! There are not many cafes these days where the owners put their heart and soul into their business. We all have off days, so if a member of the team are not smiling, maybe they have just served a miserable customer! Give small businesses a chance, they are all struggling to survive these days and Richmond is a lovely little town and we don’t want to loose it to big companies who don’t care about their customers!

First visit to this lovely place. We stopped and had a coffee ,then walked round Richmond . After looking at other places to eat for lunch we decided to come back here. Its like a tardis upstairs and the outside is very quaint though small. My son really wanted sausage and mash and though not on the menu they very kindly put it together for him- he is on the spectrum so was chuffed to get what he fancied. Hubby had the burger and I had the ploughman's. Such friendly staff ,where nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Will definitely go back.

We arrived here after a beautiful walk around Easby Abbey, cute building with quirky seating. We were served by a lady who seemed to have 0 customer service skills, she was abrupt and rude it made us feel as though we were causing a nuisance by giving our custom. Food was nice, mince beef and dumplings in Yorkshire pudding looked lovely, would defo recommend if you want a hearty warm cooked meal, nothing spectacular but definitely warmed us up and did the job! Has the potential to be a great little cafe if staff were abit more welcoming and friendly it’s a shame for the owners really that their staff are potentially letting their business down!

We popped in for lunch as it was conveniently located opposite the hotel where we were staying and looked quaint. We both had the Yorkshire pasties with mushy peas, which were the best ever, followed by tea. All very reasonably priced. We visited Granny's Kitchen several times during our shirt stay in Richmond. The food is really good - tasty, homemade and good value. We had savoury meals in the main and cuppas - coffee and tea. The breakfasts are great, and they make their own small tin loaves which is used for the toast. We also tried the mince and dumplings - right nice. The team working tables are lovely, friendly and get up and down the stairs amazingly quickly! Definitely on our must visit again in future visits and try the cakes!

The bakes at Granny’s Kitchen are a massive draw amongst our friends, but we were after heart lunch. Even in a Monday this cafe was nearly full, and it is understandable why. A full English and a sausage and egg sandwich ordered with two flat whites filled a hole and was well priced. Service was quick, with a smile and we didn’t wait long for food to arrive. 3 drinks, two lunches and two giant stuffed cookies to go was £27, which pleasantly surprised me. The cookies were incredible as an evening snack and I will be going to buy more soon!

We visited Granny's kitchen for lunch based on a recommendation, unfortunately, it was disappointing. I ordered soup and a dainty sandwich whilst my wife ordered a different soup and a toastie. The service was polite and friendly but incredibly slow. When the food arrived both soups were very watery and lacked in flavour. My sandwich was OK but very small, my wife's toastie was dry. I would suggest trying somewhere else.

We are residents of Richmond and therefore we are lucky enough to be able to visit Granny’s Kitchen regularly. The staff and food are great, it does feel like a real family in there. We regularly go in for breakfast which is always lovely, plenty of choice for all appetites. The fact that everything’s made in the cafe, is great for anyone who has intolerances etc as Wendy can tell you exactly what is in the meals. They also do outside catering which we had for my husbands 60th birthday buffet. The good was plentiful, with plenty of choice and all the guests tucked in and there was rave reviews especially for the quiche and pork pies! What was nice was I could tweak what I wanted without any problems, and Wendy also did a box of dairy free food for one of our guests. As Mick us such a fabulous pie maker I asked for a special steak and kidney pie Paul’s favourite with a message on it. It was so rich and packed full of meat we had it over two days ! Thank you Wendy and Mick for providing such a fabulous buffet ❤️❤️

The pie looked like something you would buy in a four pack from a freezer shop and I left most of it. My husband had sausages in a yorkshire pudding that was obviously not homemade, it looked like something again that you would buy in a freezer shop. We paid and left and no one asked us if we had enjoyed the meal or if everything was ok, as stated on many of the reviews here which the owner has replied to.

We visited after reading the good reviews on here, but I am afraid to say we were disappointed. Yes the prices are reasonable but the food was tasteless. I had chilli which had no flavour of chili, but was mainly onion, tin tomatoes and kidney beans. It was distinctly lacking in mince! Also ironically as it was chilli it really wasn't very warm (nor was the cafe). My husbands beef in a yorkshire was enjoyed more by him but again the beef was more like chunks of stewing steak. Sad to say we will not return. Also there were no fish dishes of any type on the menu.

Stopped here for lunch whilst visiting Richmond in Yorkshire. The cafe has not been open very long and we did have to wait a while to be served. After placing our order though the food was delivered very quickly. The quality of the food and the size of the serving was excellent. The tea was served in a decent sized pot with two mugs, so you get a decent cuppa. It was hot too. All the food is prepared on site and is worth waiting for. Had to buy a couple of slices of Bakewell on the way out. Would definitely visit again.

Have followed the progress of Granny’s kitchen on Facebook but until today hadn’t had a chance to visit! Well, what have we been missing?!

Friendly welcome, warm and cosy and excellent products. The tea and coffee are served lovely and hot and the scones are fresh out of the oven. All the products are made on the premises of in the company's own bakery. The pork pies are apparently often specially made as wedding and other celebration "cakes".

I visit either the store or market stall for Grannies Kitchen whenever I can. Their home cooked pies, cake and bread are simply amazing. To add to that the owners are always so friendly and helpful it is always a pleasure.

We went to Grannys kitchen today after a 6.5 mile walk around Richmond. We were greeted with a warm welcome, as always. We had a lovely light lunch in comfortable surroundings. Enjoying a chat with Wendy, the owner, about our walk.

Turned up ad hoc for a meal and were made very welcome. Lovely roast dinner and veg. Great atmosphere and sensible pub-grub menu: just the ticket!

We visited here after reading some encouraging reviews and noting that “booking is essential for food”, we thought it would be a safe bet while we were in the area. Unfortunately, the 2 stars are for service along as the bar staff were very polite and helpful. They are also dog friendly which is a bonus. Other than that, the food was not impressive. We had the Sunday roast and the beef tasted of poor quality, and vegetables were not seasoned and lacked flavour. The cabbage served with the meal was pickled which wasn’t what we expected. We were still hungry afterwards but didn’t want to waste any more money on desert in case it was more of the same. The decor is very tired and the place does lack atmosphere unfortunately. We didn’t drink alcohol but they have a wide variety of ales to choose from behind the bar. We won’t be returning, sadly!

Just been for Sunday lunch with my family and was delicious. I rang to book an hour before and they fitted us in no problem . Lunch didn't take very long to come and staff were so friendly. Definitely recommend. Look forward to coming back. Thankyou Nicola xx

Could not recommend enough! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make sure to go above and beyond for customers, making sure you have everything you need. Decor is absolutely fabulous and not to forget they grow their own fresh ingredients, you don’t get a better experience than that. Food is 10/10 so flavourful, definitely will be returning.
