The White Horse Inn in Chichester

We had a delicious lunch at this welcoming pub where the food is excellent. Very good Sunday lunch menu with roasts, fish and tempting vegetarian options. Perfectly cooked and served, puddings sublime. We go there regularly, and have never been disappointed.

What a find!! So glad we have found this place, warm friendly welcome on arrival, I enjoyed the crispy beef starter followed by an exceptional fillet steak supplied by Knepp Castle and cooked by Ben Miller of master chef fame and finished with a beautiful crumble. Delicious food in warm and friendly surroundings, what more can you ask for, will definitely be back.

Real gem, such a naturally warm and friendly atmosphere, excellent food and exemplary service. I’ve not stayed but friends have and say the rooms are heavenly. If you can go, you’ll be sure to them go back

We visted on Valentines evening and wow, wow, wow. We have eaten here several times previously and it has always been good but now that Ben Miller, the new chef is on board, the food is just on another level. In fact I'd say it's one of the best meals I've eaten in a very long time. To also mention the extremley professional GM, Billy and his wife Emma who have got everything just right, the mood, lighting, atmosphere, just perfect, you instantly feel relaxed when entering. Emma also went to a lot of trouble creating lovely origami Valentines bows and folded all the napkins beautifully. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Can't wait.

We have eaten here a few times and the food is always excellent (the beef fillet yesterday was one of the best things either of us had ever tasted). There is always a great selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options and the wine list is great. The service is the perfect balance of attentive without being too much and the welcome is always warm. Such an absolute gem - would highly recommend.

Billy accommodated us when I thought I had booked a family meal but hadn’t. We have had several meals here and they have all been great. The food is delicious, they cater for GF and vegan, The staff are attentive and friendly. The disabled facilities are wonderful. The decor is beautiful and the history is very interesting. A fantastic experience. I would definitely recommend.

Although we are regular diners at the wonderful White Horse Inn, I haven't posted a review for a while, but thought it was about time I gave it another hugely deserved shout out. It's simply lovely, and we count ourselves very lucky to have it within easy striking distance of our home. If you haven't been lately, you really must try the shellfish bisque of king prawns, mussels and scallop, or the truffled potato espuma over soft-poached egg with pommes paille. Just heaven on a plate! But if you just want something more straightforward, like fish and chips, they can certainly deliver, and I challenge you to find better cooked battered fish. To be fair, whatever you order, it will be sublime, as Ben Miller, the head chef, is brilliant. So superb food is a foregone conclusion if you visit but you'll also receive a warm welcome and outstanding service from Billy, Emma, and the rest of the team. Trust me, they are super-professional and don't put a foot wrong. And...being an Inn, they of course have rooms, which are also rather special, so perfect if you're planning a weekend in West Sussex.

Last night, I was very lucky my wife took me out for dinner for my birthday . It is very pretty old country pub . We will warm you welcome. The service was absolutely spot-on our waiter had a great knowledge of every aspect of the menu, also of the beers, wines and spirits . Really nice to see the wide range of locally sourced seasonal food and drink. The food was exceptional. Will definitely be going here again. It is a hidden gem .

We visited The White Horse in Sutton after a nice walk nearby. We knew this pub from years ago, but how it’s changed. A quick drink turned into very tasty dishes and my Thai chicken and prawn curry was excellent. The service was exemplary, well done White Horse, we look forward to a return visit (after a walk of course).

We arranged a weekend around staying at The White Horse: a visit to Petworth House, dinner at the Inn, B&B and a walk on the stunning South Downs, returning in time for Sunday lunch. Billy and his team could not have been more welcoming and the service is really brilliant, not only at mealtimes (Billy even leant us a map for our walk!). The food is excellent and the rooms have evidently been designed by someone who knows what they want when they stay in a hotel. Every little thing seems to have been thought of. Make a booking. You won't be disappointed.

We chose this pub for our Golden Wedding anniversary lunch. Our party totalled 22 people. We ordered our food in advance to facilitate service on the day. Our food was excellent throughout all three courses, well presented and filling. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The overall opinion of our group, and we do eat out a lot, was that we could not have chosen anywhere better. Excellent value all round

We visited the White Horse yesterday for lunch. Although we live in a nearby village we had not been there for several years - but had been told by several neighbours that we should go. We had a splendid Sunday lunch. There was a very friendly greeting from the manager, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, efficient and prompt service and excellent food. We will certainly be coming back.

Once again a fabulous Sunday Lunch - best roast beef for miles. Although a 10 mile drive for us it’s fast becoming our ‘local’ - love the friendliness of the staff, the manager is always smiling and obviously passionate about the food. It’s Just a perfect place really

This was a family birthday celebration for a 30th Birthday and for two nights stay over the weekend. Billy, Emma and the whole team, were exceptional hosts. The setting is wonderful, and rooms and dining area are hospitable, comfortable, a cut above the rest for sure whilst also remaining cosy and laid back. Nothing was too much effort for anyone working here, good sense of humour. Just wonderful. Such great family memories weee made and it is with great thanks to the team at The White Horse, who contributed to that. Highly recommend.

We are never disappointed at this lovely pub. The service is first class from beginning to end. The management really know how to look after their customers and importantly, the food is superb. Beautifully appointed and friendly place with a great menu and lovely bar. We were exhausted and lost after overcooking our cycling distance that day. They looked after us and made us feel at home. Great hospitality!!!

Had an excellent experience all round, the menu was varied and the food was superb with service to match. Having been in Hospitality my whole working life running a Large multi unit Resort Operation in the Caribbean as well as also owning and running my own Hotel and Restaurant I know just how difficult it is to get the small details right which are in abundance here. From splitting a complex starter into three beautiful plates, to allowing a new member of staff to open our wine under the watchful eye of what I assume was the Manager, it just deserves to be a success, and proves that you get what you pay for as it is not cheap but uses ingredients of obvious freshness and real quality. I had the veal with sweetbreads and my two guests the Halibut as a main course, a fish that demands care and subtle saucing. Both were excellent and the scallop starter that they willingly split for us to enjoy was superb. Well done, we shall be back .

What a wonderful meal we had last night to to celebrate our anniversary. The White Horse has always been a very special place to us and it continues to be so. Always warm and welcoming and we love the cosy pub feel - a mix of all my favourite things. The quietly careful attention to detail and friendly professional service together with wonderful food cooked to perfection make this gastropub a hidden gem! They have a wonderful selection of wines and serve the most amazing and delicious food. I had the scallops to start followed by the lamb (fabulous, best this year) and my husband had the squid followed by the Thai curry. Cannot wait to return. Thank you! Booking is a must for dinner. first time here and what a great place. From the first welcome to the very end, we felt at home. The food was far beyond 'pub grub' and I agreed with some reviews that the portions are on the small side for the price but I'd rather have that and enjoy every mouthful & I mean every mouthful, of three courses than have mediocre over filled plates. I cannot wait to return.

My partner and I stayed for two nights in August while attending a wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The room was beautiful, incredibly well appointed and very comfortable. Everything had been very thoughtfully put together. We drank at the bar, had dinner and breakfast. The food was very good and the glasses of the local Tinwood fizzy were wonderful - and served in chilled glasses. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly, offering advice about local walks and lots of info about the vineyards the wine had come from. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the White Horse, and plan to return so we can explore more of the area.

What a pleasant surprise to find the White Horse well and truly back to form. Hadn't visited for a few years with the most recent visit giving the distinct impression of a place going downhill fast. New owners (okay, not that new, they've been there 5 years apparently) have done a great job. The White Horse is once again a hidden gem. I enjoyed a lovely lunch in very pleasant surroundings on my way to the races at Goodwood. The food (Fillet of Haddock in 'Langham Best' Batter with hand-cut Skin-on-Chips) was excellent, particularly when washed down with a couple of pints of Langham Best itself. Really looking forward to visiting the White Horse again when I next go to Goodwood in September. Well done to all at the White Horse!
