Great friendly pub with good food

The location is attractive and has a unique charm. However, when combined with the hotel, the experience becomes quite unpleasant. The rooms are located directly above the pub, and if you’re not accustomed to sleeping in a lively atmosphere, you may need to adapt quickly or choose a different hotel. During my three-night stay, there wasn’t a single night when the music didn’t blast until 11 PM. While I appreciate the pub, I cannot recommend the hotel experience.

Great service, good food and very welcoming. Casey, Sarah and Andy are all such a credit to the pub. So helpful and friendly whenever we visit.

Casey, Andrew and Sarah and all the staff are amazing and treat the regulars with respect and kindness. This is my regular, and the only issue I have is that it is cold when the heating is broken. Sometimes I have to keep my coat on which is not helpful when relaxing.

Food was awful, processed turkey, deep fried roast potatoes, soggy frozen veg and chilli flavoured cranberry sauce, complained to a lovely lady....but paying in advance was wrong!! Festive menu?? I hope our Christmas is FAR from that slop!!

What a night! Came in for a few drinks on the off as the weather wasn’t great. Kacey saw we didn’t have a table but knew a table was leaving so reserved it off cleaned it down and gave us the table once ready! Could you ask for more? Beer was fresh, atmosphere adrenaline filled (without the party crowd) Thanks Trents! We will be back.

Great value 1 night stay at a lovely pub in Chichester. It's a little dated in places so if you're looking for a high end boutique hotel this isn't for you. But if you like comfortable, cosy pubs- you'll love kt.

Window in our room (4) would not close and so made it very noisy especially when the night club finished at 3am. The revellers were home by 4am and the refuse lorry came at 5.30 followed by the delivery vehicles. The staff were all excellent unlike the breakfast.

Visited with My Husband and was pleasantly surprised, the food was Average typical pub grub but the staff went above and beyond for me. I have severe allergies and one staff member in particular Natasha really looked after me, going though each dish to see what I could have. Thank you for not making me feel like a nuisance, we will definitely be returning in the future !

Trent’s in Chichester is a fantastic place, it has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in. What makes Trent’s stand out is its top-notch service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly cared about making our visit special. They struck the perfect balance between being helpful and giving us space to enjoy our meal/stay. It’s clear the team put a lot of thought and effort into everything they do. I’ll definitely be coming back – highly recommended!

An old review but when i came in with my mother we were tired and needed to eat so we came here, worst choice. We ordered the cheesy chips and they got our order wrong and gave us the added meat one?? We didnt realise until later we had to pay £10 extra pounds ontop of already paying. It was their mistake but in the end had to pay, plus everyone even the manager gives you a weird look and the staff..thanks so much.

Buen pub buena comida, pero tengo que decir que Mike era fantástico que nos hizo tan bienvenidos. Trabaja tan duro en este día en particular que estaba en su propio bar ocupado con comida ocupada, pero la rompió. Este hombre necesita una paga, definitivamente volverá 😉

Nos alojamos aquí por dos noches y tuvimos un rato agradable. El hotel/pub se encuentra en el centro de Chichester y a pocos pasos de la estación de tren. Mi habitación era amplia, limpia y cómoda. Estaba por encima del pub de abajo y daba a la calle, pero nunca experimenté ningún problema con el ruido. El baño era amplio, con una buena ducha en la parte superior. El costo incluía una comida cocinada que se sirve en la sala del pub de abajo. El personal era amable.

Had a lovely meal, spoke to lovely lady called Caroline who works there in kitchen, asked us how meal was, was lovely for staff member to make an effort interacting with us x

Food was very slow comming out of the kitchen, the nachos were like rubber - the chicken in my first chicken burger came out nearly black it had been clooked so long and it was very dry and chewy. The also brought my meal out and informed us that they had forgotten to do my partners meal so it would be a while. The second attempt at my meal came out better but it was very greasy. The highlight of the night was when a talented young lady who worked behind the bar decided to play a nice little tune on the piano but she did inform us that she won't be working there for much longer.

We entered the pub to order drinks and were told they were unable to serve us at that time (at 10pm) because they were currently in a team meeting. We vere made to feel very uncomfortable waiting for service and decided to leave.

Booked a lunch on a Saturday. The food was ok, usual pub fare. Minimum amount of chips the bbq sauce on the chicken wasn't very nice and had barely a hint of bbq flavour.The staff were friendly and attentive the pub itself was clean just let down by the overall quality of the food.

Me and a friend went in and found it pretty good. My burger was nice and my friends sandwich was good but the Coca-Cola was flat but didn't want to spoil my friends treat by complaining 😁

Pub lovely. Great staff especially Caroline who went over and above expectations with efficiency. Food great but don't go here if you want a good nights sleep! Way too much street noise up to 3am then at 6.30am the brewery starts rolling out barrels and chatting loudly with landlord. Should have been warned about all this noise and we wouldn't have booked!

The staff were nice enough. The place was clean. Food was ok, unfortunately nothing special. I just don't understand why food is so expensive. We had nachos very nice but not worth £10. Again why £15! Chicken was dry, barbecue sauce didnt taste homemade, oven chips were as expected. Portion size was child like. The whole experience was just ok. No one seems to actually make food unless you really pay big money. Just feel cheated now when I do go out. I suppose eateries are thankful Bookers are round the corner!!

Just home from a 2 night stay here at Trent’s . Great location and great stay . Clean and staff very helpful and accommodating . Special shout out to Angela who made sure we had everything we needed, was kind , a pleasure to talk too and very complimentary. Will certainly stay here again next time we are visiting friends again x

Great pub, great atmosphere, love the garden! Staff always super friendly, especially Freya! Love that they have a dog station with treats and water for them, and even have a doggy menu! Such a lovely pub, atmosphere, service and food is amazing :)

I've stayed at this pub a number of times now and it's always my go-to when I need to stay in Chichester. Rooms are very comfy and impeccably clean, all the staff are so lovely and welcoming, and the location is perfect for access to the town centre and train station. As is to be expected from the location, the noise from the pub and street does drift up at night - this has never bothered me as it dies down when I've been going to bed, but worth highlighting if anyone is noise sensitive. Otherwise a great choice to stay in Chichester - I'll be back many more times!

The service and food were outstanding, and the pub is friendly and warm in atmosphere. We stayed for two nights and the only let down was the fact that the room was very noisy and hot. We were on the street side and even with the windows closed you could hear everything going on in the busy street. We could also hear constant doors banging in the pub which often woke us. The other thing to watch out for is the parking, we had to pay over £40 in parking so bare that in mind when you stay and have a car. Other than that it was well located and again the food and staff were amazing… recommend that the pub get dampers on the doors and give free parking :)

Such a lovely place to go with friends or family ! Don’t have to wait long for food which is a bonus. The garden is lovely when the weather is good. The staff are so nice there and make you feel so welcome. Would definitely recommend this place over all others.

We had been disappointed on arrival Saturday evening that the kitchen closed at 8pm, and hour before we turned up. But, we managed to have early dinner on Easter Monday instead. The food was delicious! Vegan burger was succulent and full of flavour, my friends also thoroughly enjoyed the Mac n Cheese, pulled mushroom, beef burger and sweet potato fries. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is fantastic. We could have easily spent the entire evening there if we hadn't needed to catch trains back home.

We love Trent’s, but this one is really for Sarah: Every time we have visited this establishment, Sarah has been absolutely out of this world; Her service and attention to detail is superb. From remembering the little bits that make all the difference, to her attentiveness, she is a true credit to this excellent team. Nice, friendly pub. We came here after a cycle and the food was just what we needed, tasty and filling and we got some lovely hot chocolates. Staff are sweet too

Wasn’t overly impressed with the menu selection and felt that everything was just a bit overpriced. £3.85 for a soft drink is just extortionate in my opinion, no clear kids menu, had to download an app to see it and there were only 2 options available. We left and ate elsewhere.

Popped in today for a quick drink , was very impressed with the welcome we got from mikey what a lovely lad he is . The pub is very nice and we will definitely return 👍. And you don't get many pubs who do shamrock on Guinness

A warm, friendly pub located in the centre of Chichester. The atmosphere was great for a Saturday evening and the food was lovely! Service was fast for both the food and drink. The staff were lovely, I was served by a young scouse man behind the bar. He was friendly, fast and efficient! Will be back again!

Delicious breakfast as a really reasonable price for Chichester. It was cooked perfectly and good portion size. Staff were very friendly and even offered my dog a sausage for his breakfast! Would recommend here and great that they now open in the mornings

Visited on a Saturday. Had hardly any choices on the menu for food and also no cocktails we wanted either. Service was not great, mistakes made on drinks order. Too expensive for the service and lack of menu options availability

Great pub, very friendly staff. The food is lovely, especially the fish and chips or small plates to share. The garden has heated seating which is a bonus and is dog friendly, even has a great station for them! The hotel rooms are nice and clean, will definitely be back for the quiz on sundays!

Had a really lovely visit to his small town centre pub. Has a great team of people working in the bar! The steak pie and mashed potato was excellent. The quiz is the best one in Chichester despite my team not winning

Odd little place good drinks but the staff were questionable one was worried it was too late for us to come in at 9pm on a Friday night which seemed a bit weird but other than that it’s a good place just not ideal for larger groups

We stayed here a few days ago and the rooms were very clean and comortable. Fantastic bartenders served us, who were happy to recommend delicious rums and whiskys. Food was tasty and came out quickly. Can’t complain.

Popped in for dinner, 1st Feb, a cold evening but a warm welcome from the two staff members working the bar and serving food. I ordered a flat iron steak, cooked exactly as requested, medium rare. My wife chose the cheese & bacon burger, both dinners well presented. We have eaten at Trent’s a number of times previously and we will certainly return. A special mention to Tom, nothing was too much trouble, a small query regarding our order, quickly put right, all done with a smile! See you again soon.

Lovely little place for a drink

Came here for a Xmas meal, big group of us so probably not a typical judgment, but! if they can't provide they shouldn't offer. Food came out in dribs and drabs, great serving staff but was rushed off their feet bringing our stuff out, clearing tables on the way back to the kitchen for our next plate. We had a great game wondering who was going to be the next lucky person for food. PULLED TURKEY & SMOKED HAM HOCK PIE Served with buttered mash, garden peas and a rich turkey gravy Nice pie but still waiting for my peas... LEMON TART (VE) Served with fresh raspberries and vegan vanilla ice cream The tart was tart. It would have been nice with the raspberries and cream but I guess they are sat with my peas on the service pass. Thumbs up to the front of house staff. But very disappointing.

Called on this evening with my partner on way back from Fontwell races .Pleasant welcome from behind the bar with the menu well explained .We both had prawn starters followed by a lovely steak pie .Nothing to fault and would definitely would call again if in the area .

Very nice pub, clean and tidy. Food was OK. It was ashame the menu was limited with quite a lot not available. Nice location in the heart of the town.

We stayed at the Trent by Green King for two nights. We decided to stay there due to the central location to an event we were attending. Both nights were extremely noisy with us getting little to no sleep. The room was extremely hot with no air con just a little fan which made no difference. The hotel is located within the city centre with bars and clubs located on the same street! We asked to move rooms but we were informed non were available. Breakfast the first day was great, plentiful and fast service, so much variety within the continental selection aswell as hot options. Second morning service was much slower and quality was not quite there within the cooked breakfast, which was overcooked in places. Staff within the hotel are very welcoming and friendly. Upon checkout, we were advised to contact Green King Head Office, to which we did but have received no response! If you want a friendly hotel and are not inclined to sleep much, I highly recommend it. If not stay clear!

Unfortunately the young "manager" couldn't share any information about why I wasn't allowed a drink other than he thought I was too loud as I laughed at a joke my friends made. Rather overly woke for me. Won't ve returning, shame the young chap couldn't share any info about how I could evidence I wasn't drunk but merely having a lovely, fun giggle with friends. Bizarre. Don't recommend, awks.

It had a good friendly and chilled vibe with very friendly smiley staff! They had a nice option of non-alcoholic drinks available.

Had a meal on Monday 23 Oct came very quickly but chips and burger was Luke warm and the burger was red in the middle. Complained and got another meal this time chips were ok but burger was no different. I expected better for the price but was the worst meal I've had in a long time. Will not be returning.

Poped into Trent’s in Chichester earlier this evening after having a lovely lunch At the Ivy. We asked for a cocktail only to be told we were to DRUNK TO BE SERVED! not being funny but my friend and I are 60yrs old! And far from drunk! We were waiting for are train to Arundel and had a 20 min wait. I have since called tents and they were completely rude! I am disabled and rarely go out, this has triggered my health and will never go there again

I had a wonderful stay at Trents. Trevor was an excellent breakfast host. All staff were great. The room was clean and well appointed.

I’ve been in Trent’s many a time with my mother while out in Chichester for the day, most of the time we’ve been pretty satisfied with food, drink and service. Today however a completely different experience, firstly after finally flagging down a very disinterested bar staff member we were informed that the kitchen was closed as they had run out of food?!?! A little alarming by 2:30pm on a Saturday, we were informed by said team member that if we sat down with our drinks they would be over shortly to update us on when we could order food. A hour later, no word on weather we could order food or not, the staff collated at the bar in a discussion among themselves continuing to be disinterested in their actual job & a chef that had completely disappeared from the gantry? We only wanted to order 2x Cheese & Bacon Burgers. How difficult could it be? Communication completely lost between staff and customer, safe to say I’m glad we gave it a miss if this is the quality of service. Shocking!
