Afternoon chips and beer, very busy, parking can be tight, area to side, hard to see, small area adjacent to front entrance where a small terrace of tables are located, chips with diesel! Chips and cider were excellent The inside is quirky, well laid out with a lot of local history posted on the walls.

We had a fantastic lunch - myself seafood tagliatelle and my wife chicken pie. We followed with Eaton mess and a tart with strawberry and lots of cream. We ended with cappuccinos. My Viognier wine attracted a wasp so was quickly replaced and my wife enjoyed her Merlot. The service was “perfect” from Eve -her favourite word! The bill came to £85. 54 which we felt was good value for excellent quality food. A wonderful afternoon in the sun.

The Rising Sun have just catered for a friend’s 40th Wedding Anniversary. A mix of delicious canapés were served, catering for many tastes. This was then followed by a hog roast, with stuffing and crackling to die for, along with a range of freshly prepared salads and coleslaw. This was followed up by two beautifully decorated cakes. The food was amazing and Ben (landlord/manager) and his staff were very friendly, attentive and approachable. Thank you for a lovely day. If you are looking for somewhere to hold a catered event then you can’t go wrong with this venue.

First visit for a lovely midweek lunch. The menu was very varied, and I could have selected most dishes. The menu changes quite frequently, so you can always expect a new, pleasant delight. The pub also has a good selection of beers; however, we did not view the wine menu but it looked quite extensive. The setting is lovely and looks great for a drink outside in the sun (later in the year).

After viewing houses in the village last Saturday it seemed only right that a visit was made to what might end up being 'The Local.' First impressions were great; good bar area with roaring fire, bar stools to sit at the bar, separate restaurant-y bits, for which we made an impromptu decision to explore and partake. Now, two points that I need to be clear on: - I don't do reviews as I can never be bothered. Having just logged in to TripAdvisor, see my last one was in 2015 when I was less grumpy. - As I approach 50, I'm getting very good at the afore-mentioned grumbling. For example, only the day before was I having dinner at a supposedly decent independent local restaurant in Farnham, Surrey and I was bemoaning the fact that a meal was never that good and I was forever underwhelmed. Maybe my own fault and I eat out to often and take it for granted rather than a treat, but I never REALLY enjoy a meal any more. So it should not be taken lightly when I say that the "6oz rump steak, pulled barbecue oyster mushrooms, watercress, truffle mayonnaise, toasted ciabatta" was at the very least the best steak sandwich I have ever had, but quite probably the most enjoyable sandwich I have ever had. Beyond delicious. Not since I had pizza in Rome pushing 10 years ago have I celebrated a meal with this much aplomb. Being somewhat basic (or base) with my vocabulary, I (quietly) uttered several expletives during consumption about just how much I was enjoying the sarnie. Small caveat; I had normal mayonnaise as I don't care much for truffle anything. Feeling chipper and buoyed by the tingling in my taste buds, I jumped in and went for dessert too. A Biscoff cheesecake, vegan apparently, and by jove this was ridiculously tasty too. All washed down with a couple of very decent pints of HSB! I loved this first ever visit, and I'm pleased my visit coincided with what I understand is a new menu. Highly recommended from me, with the experience now possibly influencing my decision on where to buy our next house!

This is a perfectly pleasant pub, and for me t is a little hard to review. Nothing was wrong, but nothing was special either. I'd give it 3.5 if the system allowed. My food was OK but nothing special either. I had a pulled pork bun, the bun was so soft I couldn't pick it up, it had a sort of raw coleslaw which seemed to fall everywhere so I couldn't taste the textures and flavours together which defeated the purpose of it

Went to the Rising Sun to celebrate my daughters birthday. I emailed in advance to tell them. I ordered a simply steak but they gave me a sirloin which was much more expensive. It was sort full of gristle, too too tough to cut and very disappointing. My daughter orders the salmon pasta. The salmon was like mush and had no firm chunks and was flavourless. My husband had the burger which was fine. No fuss was made about my daughters birthday - not even a ‘happy birthday!’. I was then presented with the wrong bill to pay. When I discovered they had charged me for a sirloin not the simple steak I raised it with the waitress who just replied, shrugging her shoulders ‘what do you want me to do?’ I’ve eaten here before and it was great, will I eat there again now - no.

Stopped for lunch. Ordered the chicken pie, the only thing good in it was the pastry. The sauce was salty and the chicken pieces were tough. I'm not often drawn to write a bad review but actually this has really annoyed me! We booked a table for Mothers Day (when it was extremely busy but to be expected) and 6 out fo the 7 of us ordered a roast dinner. I asked specifically if the gluten free roast option was just less of everything as I said that was always disappointing, or if there were gluten free replacements. The (very young) waitress assured me that they would do a full roast for me so I was excited for my lunch. The inevitable of course happened and my roast was minus the yourkshire pudding, stuffing and the cauliflower gratin. They'd even maanged to miss of any parsnips from three of the plates, mine included. And yet I'm still expected to pay the same as everyone else?! I said I'd been told differently and would have chosen something else to eat but there was very little in the way of apology as the staff were just too busy. When the bill comes to over £200 it would be nice to think they'd value your custom enough to say sorry for any mistakes they'd been made. Having said all this, everyone else in the party was happy with their food - so maybe just avoid if you're coeliac.

Popped in for lunch following a walk to the Halnaker Windmill. Managed to get the last table available. I had the "lunchtime" size fish and chips with tartare sauce and mushy peas and my partner had the gammon, egg and chips. Both were very good. The "lunchtime" size fish and chips was a perfect size. My partner then had the crumble and ice cream and I had a mini version with custard and a flat white coffee. All very good too. Friendly staff and a great menu. A good selection of alcohol free beers. Definitely one to visit again when in the area, would book in advance.

We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime and luckily they had a table for us. The pub was buzzing with happy people, clearly lots of locals too which is always a good sign. We had three courses - hadn’t planned to but the food was just soooo good! The prawn cocktail was the best we’ve ever had, and mains were delicious. OH had sea bass and I had lambs liver. Both served piping hot and with fresh veg. One of my main beefs is when food isn’t hot enough. Not so here, well done Berkeley Arms. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for too. We live 20 mins away but we’ll most definitely be back!

Very disappointed in my Scrambled egg on brown toast, the egg had no taste very pale done in the microwave, and water on my plate made my barely toasted toast wet and soggy. Great pleasant staff. Service good but unfortunately the breakfast was horrible.

We often visit this Greggs whilst shopping in Chichester as their sausage rolls are the best. As I don’t drink dairy milk, in the past I’ve always had soya in little cartons. My husband asked for oat milk (my favourite) and to my pleasant surprise Greggs now offer oat milk as an alternative. So my order was for an Americano with oat milk on the side. My husband also mentioned “on the side”. This is because I don’t take much so need to add it myself. So when the lady served an Americano with oat included (frothed up, yuk) (Since when does an Americano have warm frother milk in it?) I said, no I ordered oat milk on the side. Stroppy cow said she didn’t hear that (we said it twice) and that anyway they don’t serve oat milk on the side. So I’ve paid for a coffee that I can’t drink as it’s too milky. I really expected her to say “sorry madam, let me do another one for you”. I mean, for the sake of customer satisfaction, just pour it away and serve me what I’ve asked for! Is it too much to ask to have oat milk on the side? This is a first for us. Every other coffee establishment we visit serves it cold, and on the side when asked. She has no customer skills at all. A right stroppy cow. We were disgusted.
