Great staff, great room, comfy bed but the bell on the building opposite chimed every hour all night and kept us awake all night, this wasn't mentioned on the booking form, left here a bit annoyed and angry due to being so tired!

Something was thrown out of my bedroom, and when I approached the manager to speak about it, she said she'd come to my room to speak to me. I waited over an hour, and when I went to find her, she'd left. Pretty lousy service for an overpriced room!

We stayed in Whitchurch overnight for an early morning tooth extraction, the room was not quite as we expected, and was exterior rather than inside the pub, but looks were deceiving and we actually had a very comfortable stay and it was perfect for our needs, it was also literally right in the middle of the town. The only caveat I will say was that at 6am on a Wednesday it was glass recycling collection but if you sleep through things like my partner you won't notice :D Shower was great, bed was comfortable and everything we needed was present! We also got breakfast in the morning which was delicious!

We visited the White Hart today for Sunday roasts. The portion size was insulting, paying £13.50 for what I would class as a child's portion. The roast consisted of 2 small slices of turkey, 2 roast potatoes, no stuffing, 2 carrots, 2 parsnips, peas and a spoonful of cauliflower cheese. Staff rushed us for a drinks order when we arrived. Hadn't even sat down.

Popped in for lunch on Saturday afternoon. The lady behind the bar was friendly and served us quickly. We both ordered the hunter chicken burger. We didn't have to wait long for it to come out and when it did we were pleasantly suprised at how big the portion was. It tasted absolutely lovely and the chips were nicely done. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Was in the area for a specific reason and stayed over at this lovely hotel/restaurant. On booking, they were very helpful, advising of bus times and choices for food in the restaurant and local area. We had a light lunch here before setting off and it was really nice, and we had breakfast the next morning. Food was delicious and plentiful, hot breakfast was a treat. Rooms were bright, airy and beautifully decorated. A little noisy due to the proximity of the main road, but not too bad. Staff were helpful, polite and lovely, its a place I would return to having had this experience of the place. Village is small and cute but seems to have everything you need in it - we came away with some beautiful bread from the local bakery and some local beers.

Myself and my partner decided on a whim to visit The White Hart for some food, after seeing how good the menu looked online. We ordered some food and drinks, however had a negative experience when it came to the food. The bread we had was still frozen on the inside, but warm on the out, but we did get this replaced. The main course was then a disaster. I had an incorrect burger given to me, and my partners medium/well done steak was still fleshy and soft. The beer battered onion rings were not beer battered in the slightest, and pretty much sourced from a supermarket. We did have the steak taken off the bill, however when the chef came to ask how everything was, we said it wasn’t great, and he just said OK and walked off. Not planning to come back anytime soon unfortunately, which is a shame as there is so much potential at this pub.

I have been making use of the Boris 50% off deal, and saw the White Hart pub in Whitchurch did it, I have not been here for a few years. The building is amazing at nearly 600 years old, I love wonky walls and ceilings! The decor inside has had a revamp from my last visit and looks very clean and fresh. The welcome and service was impeccable. It is the first place I have been to where we actually fill in a form for track and trace, which is reassuring. The menu is more limited than it used to be, but is expected with the current epidemic problems, but they offer far more than some of the other pubs I have visited recently. The food was very tasty, hot, and well presented. The staff were happy and smiley. Even at full price I would think it was very reasonable. Overall it’s a great pub with great food and great staff, we loved it and will be back soon.

We have never eaten food or stayed overnight at The White Hart, but are familiar with this venue, as a bar/pub. The White Hart is situated in the very heart of the historic small country town of Whitchurch. You are definitely guaranteed a good selection of beers/ales to choose from here - including the host Brewery’s venue own Arkell’s branded beer. Arkell’s hail from neighbouring Wiltshire and have various different tipples available. My favourite is their light golden Wiltshire Gold! The bar/pub area is located on the right-hand side of the building, having entered via the main hotel entrance. The atmosphere has always been bustling when we have frequented here and there are even periodic live music events held here too. Although there are not a large number of tables to choose from in the bar/pub area of the hotel, staff have allowed us to sit and relax in a neighbouring seating area, possibly designed more for diners. We appreciated them allowing us this at the time. There are stools to use, alongside the bar, and people do always appear welcome to sit on those stools, even during busier times. There is usually music (jukebox or otherwise) playing, or, music television playing and this generally adds to the decent atmosphere. On summer days, the decking area to the rear of the building is known to be used by patrons and customers. There is a pool/snooker table for use, for those so interested. The decor of The White Hart is always clean and is modern rustic in style and has some art references to the local area - namely the town of Whitchurch and nearby Watership Down and its native rabbits. I have found the bar staff very efficient at serving patrons/customers, even during busier times; always greatly appreciated! Overall, a very good venue and a credit to the Arkell’s brand.

Last minute choice to eat here due to a power outage at the hotel we were staying at in a town nearby. Menu looked good and prices looked ok so we settled for here quite easily. We ordered a few beers and a diet coke (for the designated driver!) and ordered our food. All the meals looked really good when they came out, lovely puff on the pie for example. However all the meals were underwhelming. The sausages for the 'sausage and mash' were awful (very very peppery!!) and it was more like sausage and gravy, than sausage and mash as the meal was swimming in it. The mac n cheese looked grate (pun intended) but you couldn't taste any cheese on it. The pies looked great, but once you lifted the crust off the top, there was almost no filling inside and again swimming in gravy. When we asked for the bill the wrong one was given to us originally, so we had to wait whilst that was sorted out. When our real bill came the diet coke was a whopping £3.50, which was more than the cost of a glass of wine. We paid and left a tip, because our waitress was nice. The atmosphere was ok, but there was a very large group (10-12) who obviously hadnt booked in advance and were crowding around one 4 person table and made it very cramped and noisy. The poor waitress tried to ask them to sit somewhere else but she was young and they were much older so just ignored her. I feel she should have been supported by management. Overall i think the chef was having a bad day, and if the drinks were not so expensive i would consider returning to give it another go. But not in a hurry.

We were staying up the road from the White Hart and decided to call in for dinner. We had caught the bus into Whitchurch, called for a drink at another pub and then into the White Hart. Food was really good, service quick and pleasant environment. We left to catch the bus back to our hotel at 8.50 only to find out that the next bus back was at 10.20. As we had been travelling for about 5 hours we were pretty shattered and so decided to get a taxi back. Not an easy task in Whitchurch when the one taxi driver is on his night off. So we went back into the White Hart to see if they had any other numbers to call. Without hesitation, the lady who we had seen whilst having dinner, who I know know is called Kristy, grabbed her car keys and offered to run us back to the hotel. She would take no money. If that’s not excellent customer service I don’t know what is. Thanks Kristy, the lift was much appreciated.

A lovely proper country pub with accommodation, we arrived just after lunchtime on a Friday and although early, we were happily received and shown to our rooms, so much different from some large chain hotels where time of arrival is strictly adhered to!! We used this pub as a base for the local gin distillery visit and were helpfully provided with a local bus time table and pointed to the bus stop, the buses were right on time which considering the wet weather was appreciated. On our return we had a hearty evening meal and thoroughly enjoyed the pubs hospitality. A good cooked breakfast sent us on our way the following morning. Great friendly pub, went in with my friend for a meal and we both choose the beef bourguignon which came with mash potato and mixed winter vegetables it was absolutely delicious and just what you need on these cold evenings. Becky the waitress was very friendly and the chef Patrick came out and asked if we were happy with our meals.

They do an excellent carvery on a Sunday with good quality ale to accompany it.You can eat in the lounge bar and dining area next to the carvery. If you have a larger group/family, ask to use the dining room. Book to avoid disappointment as it is popular. The two girls waiting are very pleasant and provide good service.

Visited with family (including young children) and the staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us. We ordered off both the menu and carvery with both being a high standard. Definitely recommended for lunch.

We were a party of 15 including 4 children and turned up at The White Hart having been let down by the pub down the road (it was my husbands 50th birthday and we had booked a table at the Red House, they had failed to inform us they couldn't accommodate us and basically turned us away!)We arrived at the White Hart somewhat despondent, Becky and Nikki could not have been more friendly and accommodating. They arranged a table for us in the dining room and looked after us incredibly well. Most of our party had the Sunday carvery, which was very nice and the puddings were delicious. Having overheard that it was my husbands birthday, they put a candle on his dessert for him.. Such a nice touch!I couldn't recommend this place highly enough for friendly service and nice food.. Thank you Becky and Nikki for turning a disaster into a memorable occasion.

After visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery just down the road we decided to go here for dinner, food was lovely, and so was the location. Would highly recommend.

Beautifully decorated and lovely atmosphere but the price of the food and drinks is high. Also to note that you won't get anything to eat before 12pm as the chef does not start until then.

Sunday lunch is carvery style with an abundance of wonderful food. We visited as a family of 8 plus a child of 3. We all enjoyed the wonderful food. It is good quality produced and well cooked and presented. Very reasonably priced too. Our 3 year old could have eaten off the carvery or children menus. He was served promptly which is a must with young children. We didn't need a dessert but just got tempted to share some ice-cream sundaes.

an old coaching inn, a little tired in décor, but more than compensated for with the friendliness of the staff. The food was delicious and the prices were the cheapest in the area by far. Well recommended if your not after modern glitz and glamour.

We read trip advisor reviews before our stay and agree with them as a whole. The room was a little dated but clean, which is what matters. The hotel is ideally located and well presented. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. The stay was good value for money and I would recommend the White Hart to others.

Stayed there as visiting Bombay Sapphire distillery. 3 given for overall appearance. Some of the public areas could do with a lick of paint and general upgrade. Bedroom we stayed in had had a recently refurbed but could do with bedside tables! Breakfast was ok but no menu so partner had to ask if they could have something else instead of full English breakfast that was offered - not a problem for me but others with a conscience...can't comment on the lunches or evening meals as did not eat there. Pleasant experience and staff friendly.

The White Hart hotel dominates the town square of Whitchurch with its sun-catching exterior that never fails to catch the eye. Inside, the decoration for the downstairs pub is a bit plain and slightly bland. I walked up the steps inside to where the obvious bar appears to be, only to discover that that is the coffee bar; the pub bar is downstairs again in a different room. The landlady was friendly, but the ale selection left something to be desired. Given the amount of people in the room, as well as the very few places to sit compared to floor space: the pub felt incredibly empty during my stay. They also have a pool table, which unfortunately they make you pay for.

Limited lunchtime menu but delicious food. Well worth a visit. Lovely ale too so good value all round. Very friendly, well mannered staff. Car park not overly large but wasn't a problem for us midweek lunchtime.Accommodation is available if you wanted to stay in the area. It's a good location for visiting north Hampshire .Would recommend you try out this venue.

Food and service was fine, though cutlery looked quite unclean and my can of water was bent quite badly😐

Didn’t open till 10am - then 5 staff took forever to make 2 drinks - also had a toastie but only one side was toasted ! My wife had a bacon bap with brown sauce , but given no sauce - had to go back, then found given no napkins! Had to go back again! Didn’t get a sorry or anything - then went to use toilet and it was filthy with tissues all over the floor- given they had just opened that is unforgivable- very poor - should’ve gone to Starbucks

Too slow to serve. I usually only leave good reviews but the service was so unbearably slow I had to leave. It might be good but I guess I'll never know.

Absolutely appalled by the manager of this Costa, disgustingly rude and unprofessional. I know I'm not the first person to have issues with this manager. Amy curtis has got an ongoing issue with this costa due to harassment by the manager and another member of staff. Have also seen alot more reviews expressing the rudeness of the manager and other members of staff.
