A beautiful sunny day . I love coming here, the garden has the most comfortable seating and so much of it. Indoors is beautiful. The food is probably the best I’ve had. I’ve shared all the sharing platters in my visits and they are incredible. I have to say the bar staff were really happy, polite and efficient. For a busy Saturday lunchtime on a hot day, the food came out really quickly. Prices good too. Thanks, planning my next visit now Cheers Jayne

I had a really enjoyable Sunday Roast with an old friend. The food was great and the portion size was perfect. You had something of everything and a huge Yorkshire pudding, all very tasty too. The desserts were also fantastic. The atmosphere was really nice. Very cosy and great for family lunches or dinners. Perfect place to enjoy and nice Sunday roast too. I can strongly recommend it.

Delicious food great atmosphere

I went there with 3 other colleagues on Sunday. We spent over £150 and then asked for the bill to be split into two so we could collect two stamps under the Premium Country Pub Collection. The waiter assured us he had activated the stamps on two mobile phones, but the stamps aren't shown on the app. It is not the first time it has happened. Same waiter... he doesn't deserve our CASH tips. It's a shame that it affects the rating overall.

Great Pub, massive garden for summer. Great food. Also a decent pub to have a drink fairly priced for Surrey.

Poor Sunday roast. All the other food we had was exceptional, but the meal was really let down by a poorly cooked roast.

Had a lovely long lunch with girlfriends at this delightful pub in Pirbright, the service was spot on, Sunday roast was as delicious and the lovely lady behind the bar made some fantastic cocktails. I would highly recommend this pub for Sundays or any day of the week.

We came in on a monday afternoon, the atmosphere was very peaceful and comfortable and the staff were very polite and helpful as I am gluten intolerant they showed us the ingredients contained in certain foods. It is nice to be greeted with happy staff! The food was delicious, I had the gammon steak which came with chips a stick of pineapple with two eggs. I recommend coming here!

Went for dinner last night, it was a last minute decision but the pub was so good at managing to get a table for 7 of us. The food was so tasty and came out nice and hot. We've just had a Friday night here. It has changed. It wasn't bad before, but this time it was excellent. The place has changed for the better. Everything was perfect. We arrived early evening to a thriving, throbbing bar. Lots of people chatting. We were shown to our table and the noisy bar could hardly be heard. What a great start. The waiter was witty, relaxed and very pleasant. Nothing was a problem. He was great. The food and drink were just excellent too. We'll be back for sure. About 2 years previously I wrote ...Book ahead! It's easy to do by phone. A very enjoyable experience, with a tiny niggle - the busy waiting staff were very quick with everything, but did give us time to settle and read the menu at the beginning and for dessert, but they were too quick at interjecting when we were talking. Having said that our food was delivered and enjoyed and we'll certainly be going back!

Definitely one of my favourite pubs locally. Such a cosy warm country pub with a great atmosphere. Had an amazing dinner for 7 of us. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and the service was superb. We had a lovely waiter, Simon, he was very friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience!

Been here many times over the years always had good service and reasonably well cooked food however our last visit we found much of the menu was sold out and so ordered a ribeye and a pork The stake came well under cooked and pork turned out to be pork belly I sent my ribeye back and the pork was not good my ribeye took a lot of chewing Eventually the table was cleared and we were waiting for a someone to come and see about sweets or coffee we sat there for 15 minutes not a soul to be see We got up and went to the bar to pay and told the person that we were upset at the food and restaurant service She did discount the bill but we left disappointed

A friend and I popped into the White Hart for a quick supper (just a main and drink) before going on somewhere else. We arrived at just gone 6.30pm, the restaurant was pretty empty but we were shown to a table as far away from the entrance as it was possible to be. We didn't look like tramps, BTW! We ordered pretty quickly but despite the fact that there were very few other diners, we didn't get our food till 7.15pm - we had only ordered a burger and the belly pork dish. As we had to be somewhere else, we ate quickly, paid and left. The food was good - tasty plant burger but note it comes with salad not fries, these have to be ordered separately. My friend said the belly pork was good, I was disappointed, I've been here before several times but won't go again in a hurry....

Great food, nice staff and lovely atmosphere

It would have been a pleasant lunch, but for the all-pervading, pungent, headache-inducing smell of fake floral air freshener being used throughout the pub. It caught in my throat and has been picked up on my clothes, so that I'm still smelling it two hours after leaving. This seems to be a recent company-wide practice, as the same smell was being used at the Lakeside Inn in Godalming when I visited at the weekend. Both are owned by Mitchells & Butlers Leisure Retail Limited. It will stop me from returning to either venue, which is a shame.

once again the white hart they made our day went for a family lunch and everything was wonderful team as always. will definitely be back again cant wait for summer to seat in there garden

I've visited the White Hart many times over the years, and it's always been decent food with a reasonably efficient service - generally good but not excellent. However this Sunday afternoon visit, I have to say they have upped their game. The service was attentive (thank you Daniel) and mains came up very quickly, which suited the children in particular. We weren't rushed through dinner, and dessert was served at a more sedate pace, which again suited us. The menu has been updated again for the better, and the roast beef and pork were both really good, with plenty of good vegetables, and huge a Yorkshire pudding with any meat. Would have preferred the gravy on the side, but a small matter. The dessert was also tasty with the traditional range of pudding choices. Although prices are increasing all round, I have to say the only minor niggle is the increased prices, especially on the desserts. However unlike some other pubs, the roast came with ample veg that didn't need to be bought extra.

We visited here last summer and we're really impressed so we decided to come back on Saturday Jan 25th. We sat in the bar area, once again food was really good - it is a little pricey but it's to be expected in this area. Nice pub and quick service. We will be returning.

Had the most fantastic lunch at the White Hart today. Service was excellent and very COVID conscious. But still friendly and entertaining. Food was the best also that I’ve had We were a group of 6 with varied tastes and all loved it. Thank you very much to all the team at the White Hart!

A friend and I meet every 2-3 months at The White Hart. Would certainly recommend the lunch menu, we were spoilt for choice. See you again soon!

We ordered two Sunday roast beef dinners and what we were served was inedible, When bring this to the attention of the manager Joseph, he was very defensive towards us and basically said there can't be anything wrong with it it's fine, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone unless your looking to get food poisoning

The only downside in our visit is that we were seated by the till/kitchen doors. A lot of "traffic" and noise. Our ribeye steak (medium) was a bit overdone to our liking.

We went for what we thought was going to be a normal evening out, however, Simon the waiter, made this evening the most amazing experience excelling all expectation on every level. It is such a rarity to get such incredible customer service in today’s hospitality industry. We watched as he balanced many tables, bringing a smile to everyone he engaged with. The food was excellent as were the cocktails, however the excellent service and humour of Simon is what made our evening and we will definitely return.

This place was packed, make a reservation if you can. Food was amazing it took a while to come out but was worth the wait. Highly recommended!

The restaurant was very busy and quite slow however we had our lovely waiter Daniel who kept us updated with the wait and then gave us free desserts to apologise for the wait. Food was great when it arrived and Daniel made the experience at the White Hart the best it could be for us!

Excellent service, quick food. Really well looked after my our waiter Daniel. Went above and beyond for my partner who wanted extra crackling. He also managed two very severe allergies and was extremely helpful. We felt in very good hands.

We had ordered the Fondue tonight with “artisan” bread that was served mid temperature with a slice of bread and three thin slices of another bread all which were clearly bought. Not worth the money at all, the taste was unappealing. Such a shame considering we have been to the pub before and ordered artisan bread which came homemade and freshly cooked unlike today. Will not be going back for the foreseeable future, as it seemed others eating in had similar problems with completely wrong orders as a whole.

Went the Sunday before Christmas, couldn't book as full. Thankfully our group of 16 arrived in dribs and drabs and were luckily had tables and stools in the bar area given to us be others. Lovely pub. Food was good. Staff very friendly. Pirbright green across the road with a play park if the kids need to burn off energy. Will visit again.

hi, myself and six work colleagues decided we would try the white hart after a shoot at bisley. We were early 11.30ish and were abruptly told food is not available untill 12. We were shown to a table that wasn't reserved which was great but after that the service went down hill. A member of the group had to keep going to the bar to get some one to refresh our drinks. We all had burgers off the menu that good of been better for the price... We all wanted another drink and the dessert menu but we were presented the card machine to pay...very disappointed as the pub looks great...

I've been coming here with my family since I was a kid, and throughout the years there has been ups and downs in terms of quality. However, this time we were thoroughly pleased. My parents ordered the roast beef and I order the tris of roast. It's great that Pirbright offers great traditional food.

Food was absolutely amazing we all enjoyed the starters, mains and desserts. Starter around £7-9 each, mains were £17-22 each and desserts £7-9, well worth the price

We have been waiting so long for food, even there about half spaces available. Also before ordering we asked to have separate bills, and waitress said that we can do it during pay, which wasn’t easy to do and took additional time to sort this out. There were few other moments and in overall we didn’t liked it.

Popped in for lunch recently, I must say I agree with the previous reviewer about the decor of this pub - the interior feels more DFS showroom than traditional English pub. The food was distinctly average and we received extremely slow service but to be fair it was Christmas and they were busy. We usually have the same thing in a pub and reckon that by ordering burger and fish and chips you can tell what the rest of the food would be like - if a pub can get basics like this right you know that the rest of the food is going to be decent. Burger was rated a generous 7 out of 10, chips were a bit mean and burger “nothing to write home about “. Fish and chips looked impressive, chunky chips and home-made mushy peas. Tartar sauce was out of a jar. Had to ask for ketchup. Unfortunately the fish was off, it tasted of ammonia and was overcooked and flaky inside. To be fair the batter was very tasty but the overpowering ammonia was offputting and I left most of the fish. It seemed crazy to complain at the time since we had waited an hour for our food and I hate making a fuss in front of other people. Our plates were cleared without comment and we paid the bill and left. Later on that evening I phoned the restaurant to mention that my fish was off and that the kitchen might want to review their stock. I received the standard response of “no one else has complained” …….. I made it clear that I wasn’t complaining, I just wanted to point out that I didn’t want anyone else to be served out of date fish. I’m at a bit of a loss as to what else to say really. It’s a nice enough pub but I wouldn’t rush back. Top tip: wear your coat to go to the loo – it’s arctic in the ladies!

Excellent food, excellent service. Our waiter was happy to answer any questions, including allergy information and talk us through the menu. Already looking forward to visiting again soon.

The food was delicious, and it was presented to perfection. The service was very good and the staff were really friendly and helpful when I asked certain questions even though they were rushed of their feet. The only thing was I was quite cold apart from that it was fantastic to spend time with all the ladies that I do voluntary work with. I took some photos but unfortunately I have lost the main meal one which was sea bass . So all I have are my mini creme brulee and my non alcoholic drink and hot chocolate.

A Disappointing Christmas Dinner at The White Hart, Pirbright We were incredibly disappointed with our recent Christmas dinner experience at The White Hart in Pirbright. Despite booking months in advance, the evening was far from festive. The highlight dish, the pork belly, was a major letdown. It was tough and overcooked, a far cry from the succulent, tender meat we had anticipated. The accompanying potatoes were hard and undercooked, adding to the overall poor dining experience. The pricing of the menu was excessive, especially considering the subpar quality of the food. To make matters worse, the service was extremely slow, with a wait time of over four hours for a three-course meal. The cramped seating arrangements and the uncomfortable heat in the room further detracted from the evening. The staff, though seemingly overwhelmed, appeared inexperienced and lacked the professionalism expected from a reputable establishment. Overall, our Christmas dinner at The White Hart was a major disappointment, prioritizing profit over customer satisfaction.

Exelent visit lovely food and drinks

We had booked the table for a group of 8 friends after a previous successful visit. On arrival, we were guided to a different area, having specifically requested the table we had previously occupied. Unfortunately, the table we were given was in an area occupied by a few families with very noisy children. After speaking to the manager, he moved us to the table we had originally requested. We were really happy and had a fantastic afternoon, the food was delicious and the staff very attentive.

The White Hart has sadly changed from a real village pub to something akin to a major chain pub, set up to churn out food and with no real identity. This change did take place many years ago and more recent developments haven’t really improved it. The White Hart used to be a famous pub, when the Bisley International Shoot was on, people who had come from the all over the world would say they were told they must go and eat there…it was well known for its extremely well kept beers and food that was all made on site and supplied from local businesses such as the now closed Fulk’s butchers. I realise that there is a business model that works these days and that’s what the White Hart follows. It is always busy and the food is fine for what it is. I was surprised that there was only one person behind the bar on a Friday night and the mass of dirty glasses on the bar did nothing to enhance the visit. The decor was, well it was something I would expect in the lounge of an airport hotel rather than a 14th Century country village pub, gone are the pictures of the village, replaced by weird ‘modern’ art on the walls and modern furniture that just doesn’t suit at all. The staff were very polite and friendly but it was quite chaotic. There was no feeling of the place being part of the village community and nobody there that I knew, whereas it was always at least 50% locals, especially on a Friday. All in all it was a visit that could have been to any chain pub anywhere in the U.K. which is sad considering the history of the place. Maybe that is the reality of running a pub business but I feel there is another way, one that can be seen more and more across the country where pubs are going back to how they used to be..and they are still successful,including the local community and acting as a local hub for people to congregate at for all sorts of reasons - giving the pubs regular income throughout the year. Maybe I have a biased option given my history with the pub but it did nothing to make me feel like going back any time soon. That’s not to say I don’t recommend it if you want somewhere to eat, just don’t expect anything other than the same as you could get on any high street up and down the U.K.

I always have a good male hair, but the service generally is fairly slow and not much of an atmosphere in the restaurant side but I always return as it's a great location for me a lovely building and the food is always nice

We came for a works Xmas party, food was excellent, staff fantastic. No issue with coping with large numbers all good was hot and served with no fuss. Will come back again.

Food was okay but have had better meals there before. I had to send back the pigs in blankets as they were completely inedible. Rock hard. I asked for them to be taken off the bill, didn’t get an apology for them being inedible or offered an alternative. They ended up on the bill at the end of the meal so we had to ask again for them to be taken off. Drinks came out very late. I ordered another drink in the middle of my meal and it came out with the bill. Will not be returning

I visited The White Hart for a Sunday lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The roast beef was tender and flavorful, served with crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, a golden Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy—classic and perfectly executed. For dessert, the white chocolate crème brûlée was a highlight. The caramelized sugar crust was perfectly crisp, and the creamy custard with a hint of white chocolate was indulgent without being overly sweet. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. A fantastic spot for a relaxing Sunday lunch—I’ll definitely be back!

Lovely restaurant pub to visit. Parking available. We visit regularly, especially for the carvery. Sadly this time it was not the usual excellent. Chicken was dry on the edges, the extra spinach and beans not good, the beef average, the pork a very small piece. Sad as we love going here.

I don’t even know where to begin with the incredible experience I had at The White Hart, Pirbright. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a truly magical visit. The service from the team was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. The food was absolutely delightful, with every dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The cosy log fire added an extra layer of charm to the evening, creating the perfect setting to relax and unwind. I only wish I had a log fire like that at home—I’d never want to leave! A heartfelt thank you to everyone at The White Hart, Pirbright, for going above and beyond to make my visit so memorable. I enjoyed myself so much and can’t wait to return!
