Unatmospheric and at the time we went, practically empty. Listless waiter, no smile, no energy. Ordered Croque Madame which turned out to be flaccid white bread with cheap ham inside - soggy and very unappetising - the price of which was £13. However, the coffee was good.

I have dined at Amor Amora on many occasions but this was the worst experience ever! Firstly we were greeted by a really miserable young waitress who had an extremely bad attitude, I was quite taken aback. I went to order my usual D'Italia only to be told it was not available at weekends, despite it being on the menu and me having eaten it previously on my weekend visits! My daughter ordered a cheese toastie which arrived seriously undercooked, we returned it and were then presented with a slightly more cooked toastie but it was still underdone so requested a refund. My husbands cooked breakfast was fine; however the butter for his toast was missing. I didn't eat or drink anything in the end as all three food choices were apparently unavailable despite being on the menu so I opted for an M&S sandwich! Very sad as this was a lovely place to have a light lunch, won't be going back and I don't recommend it as it has gone seriously downhill. Wish we'd tried the Cosy Club instead :(

My wife and I have visited here on a number of occasions and have been very happy with the food and service. Unfortunately after last week 18th August (birthday lunch) we will not be returning. Although the waiter was a pleasant guy, he was clearly not trained to do this job. Our food arrived cold ( 2 x dishes of pancakes with ham, sauce, & poached egg). We sent this back and my wife changed her order to a savoury croissant which was a lot better than the first dish. Mine on the other hand was not and I did try and eat it but couldn’t. The pancakes were out of a packet and tasted awful, (I was hoping for authentic American handmade pancakes as the menu suggested). I would have expected the staff to notice and ask why their second try of this dish was not eaten, they seemed oblivious to this. we could have slightly understood if the place was busy but only a couple of other customers in there! As I said we will not be returning any time soon, shame, as we really liked it there. Sorry guys!

Beautiful ambiance, great service, average food, expensive! Ben was wonderful inviting us in till the end! He gave us a quiet space in the terrace and looked after us through out. Food was as good as anywhere. The croissants were similar to the ones you buy from your local co-op. Cakes were nice and moist, but had missing flavours. Portion size was good. The orange juice was nice and fresh, so was the coffee. I might just go back for a coffee only for the ambiance. Did I say it was Expensive? Yes my Scrambled egg with smoked salmon was £13 never have I ever paid more than £9

We visited this “epicurean” (ie. gourmet) café for lunch. The décor is airy and stylish, with an excellent selection of brunches and lunches, not to mention hazelnut and chai lattes etc. Oat milk, my fave, was available. It has a Mediterranean vibe. The food was excellent and well-presented and the waiters were handsome and pleasant. I had the prawn, avocado and pesto salad which was delish. Situated at the top of the high street opposite the Three Pigeons. I would recommend this as a place for lunch. An enjoyable interlude.

Terrible and expensive coffee. Basically milk with some water in it and a hint of actual coffee. Food was tasty and well presented but rather old fashioned and carby. Goat cheese salad + croque Madame + 2x cappuccinos = £37 For that price I could have enjoyed The Ivy.

Arriving here based on these reviews, we were taken aback by the stony reception to our request to see the menu. Deciding to proceed against better judgement, we were told we could take any of the 2 seater tables downstairs, which seemed a bit restrictive as none of the larger tables were occupied. The decor is quirky and a conversation piece but the layout is poor. We waited a bit too long to be asked for our order when there were waitresses standing chatting. Another customer entered soon after and referred to a terrace... we asked about it and were eventually told there was space enough. What a delight... suddenly we understood why the place was popular! Most of the staff were friendly enough, but desperately in need of training to be more upbeat and professional at table service. Breakfasts were great quality and we were delighted with the food. The choice of teas was rare and intriguing too.

A strange experience. I was here for a quick breakfast with my partner. When ordering, the waitress asked if my partner would like anything. We advised her he is fasting, to which she replied with emphasis ‘aah that’s a REAL shame!’ My partner then walked out whilst I ate as it made him feel uncomfortable. The service itself was far from friendly. If I hadn’t had a 4 hour journey home after I wouldn’t have stayed to eat. The lack of cultural respect was a real deal breaker. We will not be returning here, we we’re very offended with this type of service.

So we popped in for a cup of tea. Maybe this was the wrong place to do this, but it did say tea on the sign outside. Anyway, the cheapest tea on the menu is £4.50, which is expensive even for central London. The waitress explained that this was for a pot. We explained that we just wanted a quick cuppa - might we share the pot. She said yes - between three of us rather than four. No problem. one of our number wanted a coffee. Then word came back from the kitchen that it could only be shared between two. Ridiculous, I thought, until it arrived - it was fairly miniscule in size. Then the bill arrived - with an extra surcharge of £1.75 for having shared a single pot of tea. Utterly ridiculous - and the £6.50 pot of tea wasn't actually particularly nice. I won't ever be going back.

I really like this place, although I can see it has mixed reviews. One of the main things I like is the decor, it's really funky and unique. I also love the secret outdoor terrace which gets the sun in the summer. The coffee is good although the drinks are fairly pricey. I've always really enjoyed the food here, I've been for breakfast, lunch and snacks. It is a cafe so expect nice cafe food as opposed to a restaurant. The portion sizes are good and if you order cake you'll get a huge slice! Unfortunately I have to agree that some of the staff are not overly friendly, in fact some always look sad. Even though I am a very frequent visitor I don't get conversation with them like I would in other places. I don't want to get anyone into trouble but the staff do need some training in customer service and in making people feel welcome. I also agree with another person here that the tables could be rearranged to make it slightly more comfortable downstairs. Seating upstairs is much better as its more spaced out. But if you go as two of you the tables are quite small and when another couple comes to sit next to you, you do feel as if you're dining as a foursome! However, I do think this is a great place and I really enjoy my visits there.

This was a second choice venue for a light lunch to meet a friend working in Guildford. We all enjoyed the broccoli soup and smoked salmon sandwich and coffee and this satisfied our needs at that time. However, there are limitations to the menu as highlighted in other reviews but, in defence of the business, it is advertised as a cafe which is exactly what it is.Service was reasonable but not exactly over friendly and a close look needs to be made to the pricing which is toppy for a cafe and the service charge, currently added to the bill, discontinued. The premises are small so seating accommodation not easy but ther is room to improve and make it a little more cosy and intimate. This is a business with potential to be exploited with the right management

Nice enough cafe/bar but the tables for two are rather close together. And we did feel something was not quite right when a table for four with a reserved sign was occupied by a single youth who seemed to be “family”. So, apart from redesigning the table plan, dropping the service charge ( you’re a cafe!), rethinking the winter menu ( one or two more hot dishes), and discouraging family from lording it in front of paying customers, management are doing OK.

We stopped into this cafe today for brunch with our two hungry sons, looked pleasant from the outside. Although it's dog friendly which was appreciated, we should have pre-empted our later disappointment with an unfriendly waitress who seemed like she just wanted to finish her shift.Coffee was nice but we all thought the menu was a bit bland and uninteresting, I struggled to see anything that appealed from the breakfast menu. Eventually settled on their 'Guildford' to share with my wife, basically an English breakfast, whilst the boys opted for a Sundried Tomato ciabatta and a Ham & Cheese Toastie.Have to say the food was average to poor, my bacon was fatty, salty bitter tomatoes, two very ordinary tasteless fat sausages, potato chips that looked like they'd seen a ghost, two limp almost cold fried eggs and a slice of toast. I asked for some marmalade and another rather grumpy dour faced waitress told me they didn't have any 'marmite' to which I corrected her and repeated my request. A very tiny ramekin of marmalade was subsequently brought out - at most a teaspoon full. They boys said later they thought their food was boring. When the bill was produced I was quite surprised to see a total for £44.24 including £14 for the awful cooked breakfast, seriously? AND WORST OF ALL - they charged me £1 for the scabby marmalade! Never ever, anywhere in the world, have I been charged for a small dollop of marmalade.Adding insult to injury, service charge added onto the bill. When I politely told dour face waitress about the marmalade, she just stared at me like I had two heads and didn't utter a word.First time and last time for us at this rather ordinary soulless establishment in Guildford. Give it a miss folks would be my advice.
