Really good place for Thai Food in Guildford. The menu variety was great, we enjoyed every dish we ordered (with an exception of coconut rice) - I mostly enjoyed Grilled Prawns

The good: the ladies at reception are friendly. The decor is great. My pad thai was decent. The bad: the waiters don't smile. The curry was really flat in flavour (the worst I've ever had tbh). The sticky rice was made with the wrong rice. No Thai restaurant should ever get this wrong. There are much better restaurants in Guildford. Spend your money elsewhere and actually enjoy your food.

Excellent first meal at the Thai Terrace. Service was fantastic, all the staff were lovely and we can’t wait to come back and see them again soon. The food was high quality, came quickly and was authentic. Would be epic in the summer, heard the cocktails are good too.

So overpriced! 4 dishes and a bottle of wine over £100 and one dish was brocolli! 4 king prawns, some chicken balls and noodles! The profit margin must be massive. Lots of staff bowing and nodding but had to ask 3 times for the wine. The same meal where I live would be half the price. Used to love it here but won't be returning.

We went here for my sisters 28th birthday meal. We hadn’t booked, but arrived early (6:30pm) and managed to get a good table for 5 people. The staff are so friendly and it smells wonderful ok entry. The staff are very informative of the menu and weee able to answer all questions asked. The food was delicious. We even took some home in a doggy bag! A wonderful visit. We will be back. Thank you

Stunning food - zingy, authentic Thai flavours of galangal, lemon grass, chilli, coriander and lime. Beautiful outdoor terrace with well tended flowers and views. Elegant service from friendly staff.

Great location: it was pouring with rain the day we went for lunch and we didn't have to go outside. The satay chicken starter and pud thai main course were really delicious and there was even a yummy desert that was gluten free. I definitely recommend Thai Terrace.

Never been let down with the food and service here. It's a fantastic Thai restaurant offering delicious flavors. We ordered the vegetarian starter mix and spicy duck salad. The salad was packed with coriander, which I loved, and the dressing with the little pops of chili slices was incredible! It was a truly outstanding salad. The other starters, spring rolls, crispy corn fritters, wontons, and crispy tofu, paired perfectly with their accompanying sauces. Our mains, Pudd Thai Kai and the specialty set (green curry, rice, beef, and oyster sauce), were also very tasty. I personally preferred the Pudd Thai Kai, but everything was excellent overall." Staff were friendly and quick to serve when needed. My partner also had the Pirates of the Caribbean cocktail, which is always a hit.

Always a good experience fantastic food

Lovely venue and views but poor service this time with a lost booking and pricing of soda & line at over £4 is really not acceptable. We have been there a few times and got a strong feeling of the staff wanting you to leave immediately on finishing eating. We took our friends and it was somewhat embarrassing. i

Had dinner with friends here. Friendly and attentive service which is nice. The food is noce if not special. The order comes way too quickly, suggesting that it is just reheated. What we found really annoying is that beer wise, you can only order a small 330ml bottle at £6 each (plus the 12.5% added tip), meaning that a pint cost you more than £12, which is too much. The view is nice but the terrace just like the staircase is tired and unloved.

Date of Visit: Saturday Thai Terrace has long been a cherished spot for celebrations and special occasions, so it was with great anticipation that we visited on a recent Saturday. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations, leaving us feeling disappointed and disillusioned with a place that once held a special place in our hearts. Ambiance: Upon arrival, we were seated outside on a terrace that can only be described as shabby and neglected. The terrace, which has clearly seen better days, lacked the charm and elegance it once had. The worn-out furniture and general disrepair of the area created an uninviting atmosphere, a stark contrast to the warm and festive environment we had previously enjoyed at Thai Terrace. Food: The food, which used to be the highlight of our visits, was underwhelming and did not live up to the high standards we remembered. The dishes lacked the vibrant flavors and exquisite presentation that Thai Terrace was known for. Each of us had one drink, and the total bill came to an astonishing £180 for three people. This exorbitant price was not justified by the quality of the food, making it feel like a complete rip-off. Service: The one redeeming aspect of our visit was the staff. Despite the disappointing surroundings and overpriced food, the staff were as lovely and attentive as ever. Their warm hospitality and genuine care for the customers provided a silver lining to an otherwise lackluster experience. Overall: Thai Terrace, once a go-to destination for celebrations, has sadly lost its sparkle. The shabby terrace, underwhelming food, and unjustifiable prices make it hard to recommend for any occasion, let alone a special one. While the staff remain as lovely as ever, it is clear that Thai Terrace needs to invest in revamping both its menu and its ambiance to regain its former glory. Until then, it's with a heavy heart that I say this place no longer feels special. Final Verdict: If you're looking for a place to celebrate, Thai Terrace might no longer be the best choice. However, if you do decide to visit, at least you'll be met with friendly and attentive service.

We reserved the sun lounge and it was a great experience. Our own private space with amazing food and the service was great too. It's a tough one to find but a great, lovely restaurant.

Service was good, friendly and speedy. Food came out very quickly. Ordered a Thai green chicken curry, it was ok quite average in flavour but nice. I’ve travelled a lot in Thailand so I was expecting something with a bit more punch. I also ordered coconut rice. Disappointed that it was basic jasmine rice with a bit of coconut cream poured on top. That’s not how Ive known it and it’s outrageous to charge £6 for that alone. Same price as a small bottle of beer. £50 bill for 2mains and 1 beer is unexpected.

The set up is nice but food is terrible. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday - as soon as we got there we were told they close at 3 (table booked for 2pm) Rushed into choosing our meals which arrived within 5 mins (clearly not fresh) food tasted awful - no taste at all! Not worth the price and service was not good. It was a celebration meal and I felt rushed into eating and didn’t feel relaxed with waitress waiting on us to go!

I recommend not climbing the stairs to get up there and using the lift instead. There was a gorgeous view of the sunset. The staff were very friendly and service was relatively quick but i ordered something i didn’t like which ruined the whole experience for me especially since it was very expensive. Also, be very clear with your instructions to the waiters because i ordered a virgin pina colada that was really nice but i finished it too quickly and wanted another one but they gave me an alcoholic pina colada instead that i didnt like. Overall my experience was tainted by my bad choice of food and the VERY high prices.

We discovered a Thai restaurant on a Friday lunchtime. The place was spacious and peaceful, with a huge selection on the menu. I personally enjoyed delicious noodles, and my colleagues were also satisfied with their dishes. The prices were reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food served. Overall a pleasant experience with good service. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant!

Service is really good! Totally opposite to the food they serve. Out of all the food we ordered, only one dish was tasty and was worth the money. Rest everything ordered was really bad. Food was super dry, too sweet, overcooked and overpriced. 2 of my family members have got upset stomach after the meal last night. I wouldn’t go there again. Just to say again - serving staff was really good.

Great service and atmosphere, but the food was average at best, especially for the price.. everything is almost twice the price of other Thais (11 quid spring roll), 25 for prawn curry) but for the price, I'd say it was just ok..we actually had to send the massaman back as it wasnt right and even the quality of the beef was cheap strips instead of a nice piece of meat, we'd all been before but remembered it to be better, this time we spent well over 200 for 4 people and felt that we all left unimpressed. Starters were great, mains very average.

Went for lunch with a friend. Food was lovely. Service was very good. Shame it was so quiet. Last week before Xmas and only two tables for lunch. Only reason I marked down for atmosphere. Would gladly go again for the food.

Lively traditional Thai cuisine restaurant with roof top views of guildford

Biggest problem was that the restaurant was so cold so rather than relaxing over lunch we ate quickly and left. Heating was just a small number of radiant heaters which did nothing to heat a restaurant of that size. Food overpriced and restaurant lacked atmosphere.

Managed to get a last minute table! The staff here are always superb and really helpful! Despite the restaurant being fully booked (and it’s a large restaurant) the food came out quick and the staff kept the drinks coming! To say they are on it is an understatement! The food is fantastic and great portion sizes! We had the veggie platter to start then I had green Thai chicken curry and my partner had the veggie pad Thai! All tasted fantastic!

Recently, I've had the pleasure of dining at The Thai Terrace, it has become one of my favorites for Thai cuisine. Their Pha Thai noodles and soft crab are particularly noteworthy – both dishes are bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. The cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable, and the staff are not only well-trained but also incredibly welcoming and efficient. A handy tip for visitors: if you're driving, the parking fee is more affordable after 6pm in the paid parking lot located in the same building on the 4th floor. A fantastic dining experience overall!

We have been frequently to the Thai Terrace for many years now and the quality has always been outstanding. However, the recent ridiculous price hikes have completely put us off. Sadly there are other establishments where the food is just as good but not paying nearly £200 for a meal for 2.

5 star for all, enjoyed by all but found expensive. Would go back again but not soon.

I would not go back or recommend this place in the slightest. It is an extremely loud place to start. I wouldn’t recommend this place for a quiet or calm night. The food was horrible and overpriced. The starters were all deep fried, it reminded us of a low quality buffet. Do not get the calamari or prawn cakes. We ordered crab, prawns chef special and steamed seabass. It came cold and over friend, it was sickly. The crab was inedible and the extremely fishy smell made it worse. They hardly provided any good quality meat or fish. The prawn pud thai was the only thing we could eat. The next day all of us felt ill. The desserts are all pre-made and non are homemade. The staff were constantly rushing us and trying to take plates when we were still eating. The cocktails are ok. At most, i would only recommend having a drink and sitting at the bar.

Booked for our 30th Anniversary, explained this when booking and asked for a nice romantic table, unfortunately got one practically in the middle. Was very noisy and busy. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our starter as they forgot us the waitress realised and kept looking over, but no apology once arrived. No gesture regarding our Anniversary, not even anyone saying it, yet could see it written down on the booking. When it came to the bill we were then over charged, which didn't see till it was too late. How sad running a business like this, it's a stunning place, but afraid we won't be back. Still waiting for a response from Thai Terrace, poor service 😡

Lovely surroundings, great food and helpful, knowledgeable staff. Although the food is not cheap you do not leave thinking anything other than it was a good experience and look forward to another visit. We took our grandchildren as one was celebrating her birthday, the staff treated her like royalty, fantastic for a nine year old. There was a £10 per head deposit for a large booking and for the 10 of us the bill was about £46 per head.

Easily the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to in Guildford. Service was amazing, food was great and the location and view of the town is incredible. We went as a party of 12 and were perfectly looked after by the staff. Many thanks.

Someone should let the chef know that adding a coriander leaf to the top of a fish does not make it a Thai dish. Same goes for the crying tiger beef. It was nice enough, I suppose, but very plain. They have 80odd menu items, always a bad sign, there's no way everything can be made fresh. My starter soup contained rubbery, from frozen squid. Unpleasant.

I have lived near Guildford for over 20 years and the restaurant celebrated its 20th birthday recently but I had never heard of it! Pity. It was delightful. It is easy to access, there is plenty of (pay for) parking, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, the staff gracious and welcoming and the food is really excellent, both plentiful and delicious. On a Tuesday evening the place was really busy, an indication of its popularity with the locals. I find it difficult to believe that some reviewers were dissatisfied with it. I have dined in far worse supposedly superior restaurants and eaten much inferior Thai food both locally and in Thailand. I would highly recommend it and now we have found it we will certainly be returning.

I’m very impressed with this restaurant, but the service was by far the best thing about it. From the minute we walked in, the staff made you feel so welcome. As someone who has travelled to Thailand, I felt that this place was very authentic, and we were treated so well from start to finish. The selection of cocktails on offer is vast, and they are strong - be warned! However, my friend and I appreciated that they didn’t skimp on the spirits like most places that charge the same price. We started by sharing some calamari which was served hot and fresh! I had the green Thai curry for main which was delicious, and the portion was very generous too. My friend went for the cashew chicken which looked great, and our coconut rice we shared was more than enough for 2. We felt so relaxed in this place that the time flew by and we were one of the last there! I’m so glad we found this place, and I would 100% recommend it. My only nit-pick would have to be that it’s not the cheapest, however for the service & quality you get, I really cannot complain. This is a must-visit for your next trip to Guildford, and thank you for such a great experience!

I'm a regular dine-in and take away customer and I love the food Thai Terrace do. However, popularity goes to the head of whomever's running the place. Too often I see profit ahead of customer. Alonside restricted booking times aimed at turning tables (which I can reconsile / I get), who fully books both intside and an outside terrace that's not 'all weather' suitable? In Thailand, sure. In Guildford, that's either dumb or shows a clear lack of customer focus! These guys seriously tried to sit us outside in conditions that were wholly inappropriate for dining. Rediculous! After a couple of min's I ended the esperience by saying 'no, this is rediculous. We either dine inside or we go evsewhere.' Now to be fair, they found us a table that was free for an hour and we were not looking for a long night, so dinner was a little rushed, but otherwise it was 'salvaged' Conclusion for me = Thai Terrace, I love your food but you need to put customer experience ahead of profit. We booked outside, becuase inside was fully booked. That evenbing, you did nothing to manage the fact that you had terrace bookings that could not be satisfied due to inclement weather and you went as far as attempting to seat us. Put as much effort into customer expereince as you do into your food and profit!

No complaints to be honest. This restaurant has the most unique positioning with glorious views at such a height over Guildford and a beautiful roof terrace with tables and chairs. It is one of the best spots in Surrey that is for sure. Wonderfully roomy and spacious with a sofa area for drinks before eating - what a set up. The food and service is excellent too and lovely staff. Definitely in my top 5 Thai restaurants in Surrey and London.

Thai Terrace is rather magical! Despite its mundane setting atop a car park, the atmosphere is wonderful and the views are breathtaking. The staff are plentiful and extremely attentive and nothing is too much trouble. I have been there 3 or 4 times and the food has always food has always been delicious and exemplary. Probably not the cheapest Thai Food Restuarant in Guildford but definitely the best!

With the resilience of seasoned warriors, we braved these frosty thrones armed with a second bottle of wine as our trusty ally. Our gastronomic odyssey kicked off with chicken satay and prawn crackers that boasted avant-garde aesthetics, as if they were dressed for a modern art exhibit. The peanut sauce was the Pied Piper's tune for peanut butter lovers like me, though the portion size left us yearning for a food magician's spell to make it multiply. Enter the green Thai Curry, a flavor explosion that had us considering composing an ode to its gastronomic brilliance. Sticky rice dared to challenge the status quo, but jasmine rice flaunted its Instagram filter glamour, leaving us in a culinary conundrum. And then there was my father, ever the horticultural critic, who bravely championed the cause of "weeding" on a terrace adorned with synthetic grass. It was a scene straight out of a sitcom, his earnestness clashing hilariously with the artificial greenery that surrounded us. Dessert? Alas, that ship sailed as we descended into the hilarity of a game called Heads Up, all while being conveniently perched atop a car park, which in hindsight felt like the universe's way of encouraging our carefree revelry. In summary, The Thai Terrace treated us to a delightful array of flavors, quirky seating, and an unexpected lesson in the art of fake grass etiquette. It's an experience that transformed metal chairs into playground relics, peanut sauce into ambrosia, and weeding into a comedic act fit for a grand performance.

Great and attentive service - lovely food, particularly if you're willing to be a little adventurous. Delightful presentation of the food too. It's at the higher end of the price scale - but deservedly so.

My daughter and I happened upon this Thai restaurant when visiting Guildford for the first time last Thursday (13th July) and parking in the Castle car park. Although it was almost past lunch meal time 2.20pm, we were made extremely welcome by three staff and politely shown to a table. They did mention they only served lunch until 3pm, but we were not hurried over our selection and order. My char-grilled teriyaki chicken and garlic fried rice was delicious and a very good sized portion. My daughter chose spicy basil pork and jasmine rice and thoroughly enjoyed her choice and meal. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was excellent and the overall bill was a fair price for two meals and two drinks. I would definitely visit this restaurant next time with my family next time in Guildford.

We have been here for special occasions over the years and have seen it adapt to Covid and afterwards. The short answer is the restaurant ambience itself is gorgeous. The decor is so tasteful and the views over the town from its high vantage point are wonderful as the sun sets. The outside terrace is fantastic to either eat or drink or savour the views. First the service. You are bombarded with smiles and welcomes from arrival. Whilst dining the service is unobtrusive but exceptionally attentive and prompt. There are lots of staff with microphones and ear pieces and it works like clockwork without feeling rushed. Overall 10 out of 10 for service. The food. Where to start? Each starter and main course was a delight. So tasty and cooked to perfection. The menu is extensive and there is enough variety for anyone. I can honestly say the food is brilliant. A good range of cocktails and wine are available. The wine ranged from the budget to the pricey and it was good to see that optionality. My bloody mary was excellent btw. OK so whats the catch? There must be something right? Well, if im trying really hard i would observe the chicken satay starters were smaller than a couple of years ago. Also, the legendary 4 ice cream and sorbet desert is now only 3. And of course the prices are higher than a couple of years back. But these are very picky points and might make me drop the overall score from 100% to 98%. Oh and he NCP lift didnt work but that isnt the fault of the restaurant and you only have to walk up a flight of stairs if you park on level 6 of the car park. Overall a fantastic experience and whilst not cheap, its worth every penny and we will return.

As others already have mentioned. Expensive. Small portions. Mediocre food and they apply a service charge by default. Would not come back.

The Thai Terrace has been somewhere that I have visited many many times, bringing clients, friends and family. This last visit started well with our table of four sharing good starters and cocktails. We also ordered main courses to share. Three of them were curries and the grilled giant prawns. The curries were dreadful. The massaman was white and tasted only of coconut milk and sugar. The bowl contained three pieces of chicken and nothing else. You would expect to find cinnamon piece, onion or potato maybe star anise if you’re lucky, but nothing. Inedible so it was left uneaten. The other two curries were also thin and lacking ingredients. It felt as if the restaurant were saving pennies on food. When the senior waiter came to clear our table we mentioned the food and showed him the uneaten Massaman, he just shrugged his shoulders. At £65 a head it was a very poor meal and the complete lack of interest shown by the restaurant added to a poor experience.

Service was great, food came out really quickly? But that wasn't an issue as we didn't want to sit for very long. All the food was lovely, it is a bonus that the majority of the meat here is halal! One downside is that the mock tails are very overpriced, £9 and it was nice but wasn't worth the price, my friends got standard juices which were more in quantity and more than half the price. I would overall come back here again though.

The flavours were incredible. I know it’s pricey, but we felt it was totally worth it. The creamy Tom Yum soup was amazing. We had the duck and the prawns and both were delicious. Highly recommend.

There's a lot of competition in town, so was looking forward to meal with friends - like the weather that evening, was a bit of a damp ending. Service wasn't great, felt rushed and wasn't really busy - food was good but had better for more reasonable prices. When splitting the bill, they added £8 to each persons payment (only spotted the day after). Not suggesting this is avoided, just that alternatives may be better

The best Thai food in Surrey. Amazing service and attention to detail. Update: Still brilliant in 2023 and always amazing food and service. Great with food allergies and were able to tweak menu choices to avoid problem ingredients.

Nice food, including vegetarian choice. Reasonable price, lovely staff and good service. Nice terrace for a dry, sunny day.
