Lovely pub with wonderful traditional pub food and then some. Great location and lovely staff

We spent a lovely afternoon here sat outside by the canal watching the the world go by ( very slowly!!). Nice friendly staff and a friendly atmosphere. Would happily come here again.

Fantastic! A group of us arrived at 5.30 on a Sunday afternoon. We all ordered food and it arrived really quickly. There was a great choice, including vegan fish and chips, which delighted my daughter! The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Can't fault the place beautiful setting great well maintained gardens and right next to the river couldn't ask for anything else.

Roast dinner was a large helping. Veggies cooked nicely. Lamb was tasteless and gristly.

Lovely pub garden stop when out walking

A convenient and good quality pub for people living in Send and Woking to walk to! However, I have had to remove two stars because some of the waitresses refused to hug me. They shouldn't work at a pub if they don't feel comfortable with showing proper friendliness to customers. And please remember, the kitchen is closed between 14:30 and 18:00 (2:30-6pm) Monday to Friday, but puddings, crisps, and drinks are still available all the time. Nonetheless, because this is by a major public footpath, dogs are welcome, and dog treats are available here, too, all the time, although there is no air-conditioning here so I wouldn't recommend visiting during very hot weather.

As a group of friends, we meet regularly for dinner and drinks and always choose The New Inn as our preferred venue. The beer, Hogs Back TEA, is always well kept and served with a smile. There is 0.0 Heineken for the designated drivers. An excellent selection of food on the menu and is all very reasonably priced. I would thoroughly recommend The New Inn to anyone who enjoys the atmosphere of this traditional pub and all that it has to offer.

Great to sit by the river and chill with friends and family

Nice and chilled, plenty of friendly staff, food is good, lots of choice, bit expensive but as that seems to be a theme on all of my reviews I think that's just everywhere now.

Just finished a Turkey and gammon pie, not something I would normally choose but seemed a hearty meal given the terrible weather outside. I must say, five star and apparently the curry was very good too. Even better the main course is half price during January, Monday to Thursday.

I just love the pub.... I often do a long distance walk from Guildford to Walton on Thames....and I can't wait to be by the pub. Always a nice pint:)

It is around 20 years since we visited the New Inn! we now live in the South West, but were in Surrey visiting family and friends. We and our greyhound were made most welcome and he appreciated the dog treats. We enjoyed a good meal that was value for money. The hunter's chicken burger was delicious! The staff were friendly and it is obvious this is still a popular place to visit, with a longstanding reputation that still holds good.

Always a joy coming to this pub and on this visit it didn't disappoint. Made it in time for lunch and sat outside in the gorgeous winter sunshine post walk. Fab selection of Lite bites we shared and a tasty pint of Hogsback Beer 🍻 Thank you New Inn Team, appreciate our little timeout at your pub 😁

big portion tasty pub grub. calm atmosphere comfy chairs attentive staff. will return soon. only thing that could be improved is the coffee although a chocolate bar came out with it which more than made up with the fact it came out of a machine

We booked the New Inn for a funeral wake. Mark and his team did a fantastic job from meeting to discuss our wishes, to setting up the area beforehand with them and accommodating us in the perfect Mousehole area of the pub. The food was plentiful and excellent and the staff were so friendly , unobtrusive yet attentive and always at hand when we needed them. We couldn’t have picked a better venue for a celebration of our Mums long life. Thank you so much. Rose and family

We hadn’t been to this pub for over 25 years so didn’t know what to expect. It definitely didn’t disappoint. The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the service was quick. We will be back!

Another pleasant evening with friends. I drank draft Heineken 0-0, others Tea bitter and Inch’s cider The food was lovely as it is on every visit; today I had a steak and ale pie with steamed veg = lovely.

Truly fabulous location. It's probably one of the best locations around in fact. They have a small yet perfectly sized garden area adjacent and joined onto the river so is accessible by boat or from the river tow pass which is handy for those summer bike riders. It really is beautiful and on a nice day, you will easily forget about any dentist appointments, tax returns and unconditional love as you inhale serene surroundings and subtle sounds of the river and its inhabitants. They hold music events with sounds ranging from classic cover bands right up to DJs playing ibiza sounds so definitely worth a look if your a glowstick guy or gal. The New Inn has a huge variety of food on the menu and is reasonably priced. It's not a modern place but has a modern feel. It's not fancy and you feel at home as you enter regardless. Staff are lovely and I can't wait to return. I'll be surprised if this place is not already or soon to be on a best pub list somewhere and quite near the top. I will keep going and report back soon. Scampi and chips was as expected. The food is not why I would return but is perfectly edible and I have no complaints.

Perfect pitstop on your walk by the river Wye. We had a couple of drinks and shared the Greek cobb salad which was ok.

We accessed the river by the pub to paddle board on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Afterwards we had lunch in the sunny beer garden. Even though it was busy we got served straight away at the bar, the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The portions are very generous. The boys loved their burgers snd the scampi was yummy too. We will definitely go back.

Just lovely to sit beside the Wey and have a nice meal. Boats and canoeists mooring up.Nice touches like dispensers of cold water and lemon to help yourself.

The most friendly welcome in a pub anywhere. Thoroughly recommend the exceptionally well prepared Quiz night, first Wednesday of the month.

Outside seating by the Navigation when it's dry is a great spot, while inside has a lovely and traditional atmosphere. Can't go wrong here, and you can enjoy a nice walk along one of the best bits of the Wey as well.

Order at the bar. Good food and drinks.

Great little place by the river

Was passing by on a drive and decided to stop. Had the Kiev which was a HEARTY portion but delish from the first to the last forkful- indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of space for bigger tables.

Stopped here a few times now whilst working in the area. My job takes me all over the South &, I like to stop for a coffee in each area to break up the day. I can safely say, the coffee at The New Inn is the best! Also the most reasonably priced & you get two biscuits!! Staff attentive & efficient. Venue very clean, cosy & comfortable. Definitely returning for a coffee break soon.

Never have I seen a more unappealing and dispiriting sign/frontage, extremely dated early 2000s clip-art that was thankfully not visible from my initial approach down the Wey. Get a traditional pub sign painted for the love of God. Service friendly and great location. The ploughman's was ropey, but the branding remains their worst offence.

The restaurant seating area is at the back of the pub and is in quite a small area. The menu is quite interesting and focussed more on roasts. Typical for a pub. We all had roasts of various combinations and the emphasis was more on quantity than quality. The portions served were generous but for the Trio of Roast the plate that arrived was enough for two people. It was just too much. I imagine a lot of food is wasted. The only other negative was the noise from other diners, the floor is slate and as mentioned above space is at a premium. we probably had to speak loudly to be heard by our friends which contributed to the noise. Can't win. As a conclusion would we eat there again, probably not; but for a canal side summer drink probably yes. Focusing on quality and not quantity will get you more favourable reviews.

We've lived in the area for years but never been to this pub until recently. It was a sunny (but not too warm) day so was nice to sit outside. The food is delicious and not too pricey. The atmosphere inside is nice and the service friendly. Add to that, it's on the river and we went for a walk afterwards, is all bonus points. We will be back again.

Lovely pub - 2 families, 4 young children and a dog - walked there across the fields and ate outside. It is also on the road if you want to drive but backs onto the canal. Good for a chilled weekend family meal.

Was very happy with food and service, was there with family for Easter Sunday lunch, was 13 of us plus one high chair and could not float them, I give them 9 out of 10 and the only reason it's not 10 out of 10 is because we are a family that like thinker gravy lol would definitely book there again 😀

A lovely menu with specials that change regularly. Beer is excellent and a good choice of ales. The staff are lovely, very attentive without being overbearing. I would recommend The New Inn but, book a table to avoid disappointment.

Nice enough staff, but more interested in their friends than checking their customer needs. It's a recurring theme. It's all about sales and revenue to protect the business. They didn't value our custom,so we won't be back.

We visited The New Inn yesterday for a post Christmas get together with our family of 15 as we hadn’t been altogether at Christmas. This is included 8 children. Having read positive reviews we requested seating in The Mousehole and were given exclusive use. The whole experience was first class. Everyone was delighted with their meals which arrived swiftly, well-presented, hot and tasty! Everyone said they could have chosen many of the options available. Finally, all the young staff were extremely helpful and pleasant throughout. We will definitely be back!

I went to The New Inn for a family reunion during Twixmas, with some members of the family travelling down from the north-west of England. Unfortunately, traffic/weather problems meant they couldn't make the allocated time of 2.30, despite setting off ultra-early, but although it was the last slot of the lunch sittings, the landlady and kitchen crew were very accommodating, delaying bringing out our food by half an hour, which worked out just right. This is a big deal when staff are working split shifts, so thank you very much to them all. The food was also excellent and very good value. I hadn't been to The New Inn before but I'll definitely be going back!

Following a walk down the Wey Navigation our family party arrived rather late for our booked table. It didn't cause an issue. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I can certainly recommend this pub but would suggest booking and the car park is small so arrive early.

My partner and I popped in about 7pm for a drink on Tuesday evening as we were passing through. We were told that we couldn't stay very long as it was bingo night starting at 9pm and the tables were booked from 7pm as people have a meal first. Not the friendliest of places, although the staff were pleasant.

We visit 2 or 3 times a year and travel hour or so to meet with friends. Lovely place. Cold walk along the canal before lunch. Warm welcome. Hot food

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and observant , we liked the games as well ,my friends abs I had a game of scrabble While we were waiting for our meals ,service excellent and The food very tasty .

Amazing place and I absolutely LOVE their banana blossom and chips (a vegan version of fish and chips). Nice to sit by the canal as well during summer and very accommodating for dogs.

Wow wow wow what a diamond find in Dorking, off the main road and what a pub. Compact pub with a great atmosphere, pool table, good beer and amazing owners. A really good place to have a few beers prior to watching some local footy. Not sure if they serve any food hence o couldn't score it. But what I can say I will defo be returning. Thanks for being so welcoming and serving an amazing pint of Shere Drop.

Has been refurbished, but does not now serve snack food such sandwiches. Just a fairly expensive main meal options. Update, had a very nice evening meal the other night. Good service and beers.

I brought a group of 19 walkers in on our Wey Navigation walk, having pre-booked the Mousehole area. Sunday lunch was efficient and friendly and hearty. The feedback from my group was very good.

Sunday roast, lucky with weather at end of October, and so we were able to sit outside. Else you'd have to book for an inside table. Great roasts, we had lamb, and chicken.

Ridiculous! After an hour of waiting for food we asked one of the staff how much longer that would be. He went to check with kitchen. The lady who took our order arrived to say that the order didn’t get to the kitchen! She asked if we want refund or would like to get our food but actually half of the food we asked for weren’t already available. We were starting and very upset, decided to get refund and leave. It took me less then half an hour to cook at home. What a waste of our time, I won’t be coming back there.

One of our locals, we frequent here regularly. Super dog friendly, my dogs enjoy coming here more than i do, i have to drag them home after a visit! Lovely little beer garden area overlooking the River Wey navigations. Great stop off for ramblers, kayakers, paddle boarders, canal boat holidayers etc along the way. Food is proper pub-grub, lots of it, satisfying and reasonably priced. Recommend the jacket potatoes (with chilli), scampi and chips, and the Sunday roast.

Went here as visiting the area lovely staff and great environment. Had halloumi fries they were one of the best I have tried. Reasonable prices and okay choices of beers, the toilets are bit cramped and tight. Worth a visit if your in the area great views of canals etc

Had a wonderful lunch, the food is delicious, have never had a bad meal at The New Inn. The man who served us was polite and friendly, food was delivered quickly. Lovely couple of hours sitting by the river on a beautiful day.

Nice pub. Posh looking menu but really disappointing food. Had a tasteless lasagne. Another dish was a jacket potato. Dry and ordinary. Other places do much better.

I think the pub it is in a very good location, just next to a canal so you can have a lovely walk before lunch if u want and has plenty of outside space. Service was excellent, very nice staff at the bar. I would say the food was ok, looks good in the reviews pictures, but could do with lots of improvements, vegetables overcooked and well in advance prepared. Not at all that nice crispy feeling on potatoes...

We had a lovely lunch two couples and our two dogs. The garden is by the canal which is a lovely place to watch the world go by. The food is excellent - well cooked traditional pub grub. The staff are friendly and efficient with prompt service of both food and drinks.

Been meaning to visit The New Inn for a long time and the perfect opportunity arose today for a walk followed by a pub lunch. Plenty of tables outside with some undercover which was reassuring given the changeable weather. Lovely views of the Wey Navigation from all outside tables. The food was excellent with rave reviews for the ploughman's and ceaser salad in particular. Good quality and really generous portions. The house Rosé was very nice at £23/bottle. Will definitely use again. Only one very minor gripe was that the mustard for the outside tables looked like it had spent just a little too long outside in the sun. Perhaps could do with a freshen up. But overall excellent and highly recommended 👍😁
