Perhaps we were unlucky but we had to wait two hours between sitting down for lunch and getting our main course. Pretty much every order (food, drinks, desert) had something missing that we had to chase and wait for. We had to go to the bar and collect our own drinks having seen them poured (eventually) and then sat on the bar for too long. Food good and service friendly - we got a discount on the bill but not sure it’s enough to make me return.

Went for lunch, waited 50 mins for food which had not arrived so I had to chase for the food order which was obviously forgotten, staff didn’t ask if we’d enjoyed the food or if there were any issues, which there were, my fries had been over salted and were not edible. Staff need further training, not their fault if they’re not told how to do their job properly. You’ll be pleased to know I won’t be returning.

Really enjoyed lunch in garden. Appreciated that the tables weren't squashed too close, so we had space for our son and dog to play in the grass. Always a nice welcome and friendly staff and this lovely community-run local pub. In the summer we have enjoyed eating in the garden with its far reaching views. We have eaten here a few times and until now always had good food. But on this occasion the food was poor. The pie was swimming in gravy that lacked any flavour, it would also have been nicer to serve the gravy separately. Sadly the food was cold and had to be returned to the kitchen, the pub was not busy and it really seemed a shame that they missed the mark on this occassion. We also noted that the menu was not as interesting as it had been earlier in the year. I am hoping this was a 'blip' and that normal service will resume. We will give it another go sometime soon.

Quite expensive food for what you actually get - we'd had a much tastier and better presented very similar meal elsewhere a few days before at a much cheaper price. One would expect something better than what looked and tasted like oven chips too! This pub is obviously gem of a buiding and has a great garden (although there were no parasols on nay of the tables on the grass and folk were quinting and then moving to the few covered tables) so its a shame that they have dropped their game.

We'd been to the Sculpture Gardens, Churt, not far away. I started looking for a lunch place more local to the gardens but soon chose this place. It was easy to find, on our way back and had plenty of parking. We found the staff efficient and friendly and had a well spaced table in the sunlit dining room. Along with a glass of tasty Chilean Sauvignon my wife had what she described as the best fish and chips ever and I had a really tasty, interesting and substantial African pork stew. The prices seemed very fair for the quality.

Lovely country pub, to me this is how every pub with a restaurant should be - totally dog friendly and well placed to retire to after a good walk round Thursley nature reserve and Hankley common with excellent food. Sunday roast was top notch with large portions and brilliant quality. The only odd things are that the cauliflower cheese isn’t on the menu yet served with every roast (a great surprise) and only the beef came with a Yorkshire (though they were happily provided free on all of our meals when asked). Don’t miss the Yorkshire’s either because they are fantastic and enormous!! Sticky toffee pudding to finish was tremendous as well and again a very generous portion. We will be returning.

Anyone looking at my reviews will see most of them are fairly positive. It is clear that the Three Horseshoes has a problem, however. It is possible, to be fair to them, that they were having a bad day as a one-off.Firstly, the food was very good (though a little overpriced for typical dishes). However, we waited 50 minutes to receive the food. It was a Saturday and we sat outside as we hadn't booked. Only those who had booked could sit indoors. Everyone seemed to be waiting a long time, however. When pubs are taking a long time to serve the food, they usually let you know as you arrive. More strangely, as we walked down the driveway upon leaving the pub, the barman ran after us asking if we had paid! I thought he could have checked with the waitress, a rather more professional approach to whatever his doubt was. We tried not to be insulted and told him we had paid (as we had) but then he asked us for our receipt from the payment we had just made! It is possible he thought we were annoyed at waiting so long for the food and had decided to walk out and not to pay. But that is not the casel. Since this has never happened in any pub I have visited, and I go to many, it stands out. Due to the good food, I would possibly give them a second chance but not a third.

This is a free house in well-heeled Surrey. It is right by the A3 which does not impact on the ambience of the village and its pub, but is good for getting to and from at speed. Walk up to the Devil's Punchbowl then retire for beer in the pub bit at the front and eat in the quiet restaurant at the rear.Well I have to say that the food was outstanding. West African pork stew was just delicious, and Mrs Miniman reckoned that it was the best battered fish and clearly homemeade chips she'd had for some time. The house wine, both red and white was v good - it's labelled for them and is a Chilean merlot and a Chilean sauvignon blanc respectively. Nothing is cheap in Surrey, but this place is not more expensive than average.A note to other reviewers. Don't complain about the price of the wine. You're in Surrey. Either suck it up or don't have it. And please - can we have less moaning about a lack of Vegan food? If they don't do vegan, there may be a commercial reason, rather than just being sick to the back teeth with your whingeing. You don't have a right to complain when they don't cater for your fringe tastes. If you want vegan food, check out the menu before making a booking.

Oh dear what a dreadful experience. We had booked lunch at this pub and were shown through to the very smooth restaurant. The pub area being at the front of the building. After a few minutes two people arrived with four large and very smelly wet dogs. This is not acceptable in what is clearly an inside eating restaurant and not the drinking pub area. We highlighted this to management and were literally shouted at by the very rude manager. We will not be returning and will also tell our friends who use this area a lot for running, walking and cycling. This manager needs to be sacked, all we were asking was to be moved away from the smelly dogs.

Although this pub is in the most gorgeous spot and the staff are mostly delightful, if you want a vegetarian burger - BEWARE! I ordered the Veggie Burger and, when it arrived, I thought I was eating meat. On raising the question, I was told it was vegetarian as it was a plant based burger. Nowhere on the menu does it say that. I suggested that it should have been listed as a plant based burger, I was told that if all ingredients were listed then the menu would run to 8 pages! Not great customer relations. . . I realise that I might sound picky but if I wanted to eat a meat flavoured meal, I would eat meat. Veggie burger, to me, says vegetables. To balance this - my husband had a delicious pizza!

Tried, TRIED this pub three or four times. Every time I've been there's been the same local "gentleman" sitting at the bar watching a sports game VERY loud on his mobile. Who thinks that's fine? Just what you don't want - anywhere. Who wants that whilst eating and who would let that happen regularly! Tried to order food from the menu and was told food didn't start until 6pm. Fair enough but they refused our food order until 6pm - it was 5:45pm and we was ordering drinks at the same time!!! We went and ate at elsewhere in Elstead instead. Hugely disappointing. Vegan menu available during the week, even boasted about on the menu pages, but, was told very rudely and dismissively "oh, we can't possibly do vegan meals on a Sunday". Thing is, if you can the rest of the week, why can't you do a vegan meal on a Sunday? This pub prides itself on being owned by the community, but, it seems, that not all of the community is welcome.

Afraid very disappointed. We had been previously and it was lovely, so took large family group there for a Christmas get together. Booked well in advanced and said it was for Christmas, assumed had ordered the Christmas menu, but when arrived was told had not. Food arrived and waitress has got the order wrong so one member of our table had to sit there for 10 minutes waiting for her food to be cooked. Everyone else waited for her food to arrive and so the whole tables food went cold, no formal apology, nothing, staff did not seem to care, even after we complained. Was really embarrassed as everyone had come from around the UK to visit and I had said it was lovely food and service. Like to support local independent pubs but afraid won’t be supporting this one again as it was a complete let down.

They moved off about 1110 and, as it had started to rain, we missed out on the nature board-walk on the Thursley / Elstead Heath and went inside for delicious coffee. Chatting was extended so we went straight into lunch. Wrap very tasty, West African Stew warming and scrummy, and pie of the week (lamb) just great pub grub if that does not sound like a put down. The fine T.E.A. ale from the Hog's Back Brewery accompanied my excellent 'Beef Double Cheese Burger with Lettuce, Red Onion, Burger Sauce and Chips with extra Bacon' (£15.50). Monkey Jim and I had asked that our burgers be less than cremated; we were pleasantly surprised that they arrived more medium than well-done and had thus retained moisture. Tone and Nick had the Pan-Fried Seabass (£17.50). A little more expensive that the average pub grub but we're happy to pay a little more for very good food in pleasant surroundings. Had a lovely lunch with my family. The atmosphere was as you would expect from a lovely rural pub. Service was very efficient and at the same time informal. Friendly bar staff. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for a few years now and I just love the fish and chips. Great atmosphere. Proper country pub. I’ll be back!

Despite an empty restaurant we were put in a corridor by the toilets rather than the restaurant. Very high prices for poor variety food.

Our early weekday dinner included excellent food, generous portions and reasonable prices. The key lime pie was especially excellent and obviously home made. While the selection of beers and lagers is relatively small there something for every taste and they are well served. The wine we had was also very good. If you want to have your dog with you at the table, make sure to mention it when booking to get a table in the bar area. Nice to see a community owned pub busy and run by an excellent team.

We were invited to lunch and our friends chose this pub, being one of their local favourites. It was a very enjoyable experience. Set in a pretty location and with attentive, pleasant and courteous staff it was a pleasure.

Eaten here twice in the last four days. Ate in the bar area on the first visit, just two of us. Very good service from the staff, good food and beers. Booked again whilst there for a Saturday lunch for ten people.

We love going to the Three Horseshoes for Sunday Lunch. There's a good boardwalk around the Common then a short drive to this lovely country pub with good beer, wine and fab sunday lunch. We like to eat later than most on a Sunday afternoon and its worth bearing in mind that sometimes some of the menu will have sold out. Best order when you book especially if you want roast beef. The roast chicken as my substitute though is delicious.

There's really not much to say about The Three Horseshoes.... except: fabulous food, fantastic service, great place. Absolutely loved it.

I have been visiting The Three Horseshoes quite a bit over the year with a large group of people and dogs. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the service and food have been top notch.

Been here before for Mexican, pizza and drinks but before Christmas stopped in for a roast.... love the manager, she is so lively and friendly and the roasts are amazing - roast pork comes with crackling apple sauce and an amazing slice of pork belly meat

Have visited four times during Christmas break this pub is really wonderful. It’s owned locally by villagers and it has a lively buzzy atmosphere in the evenings. The wine selection is fine and the staff are friendly. The one downside -I just wish the food was a little less bland. I am gluten free and vegetarian so am used to not much choice but there was no gluten free bread on offer and for my vegetarian friends not a lot of great choice either. The dishes that arrived have been bland and average. My meat eating friends have said the same. I haven’t though been for Sunday lunch which is supposed to be very good. If this pub ups it’s game food wise it would be a five star pub but I have given it four ( three stars for food and five for atmosphere)

We had lunch here today for my son's 21st, Sunday lunch was absolutely lovely. Service, food, and perfect real ales tip top. This is what all country pubs should be like but sadly aren't.

Having lived less than five miles away for forty years, I thought I had visited every pub/restaurant in the area but somehow this one was not on my radar. It certainly is now. atmospheric, friendly and one of the best Sunday lunches around. Now we want to return to sample the full menu. Highly recommended.
