My Sunday roast beef was served lukewarm and stone cold in parts. I ordered the extra bits to add on to the meal for £4.95; pigs in duvet (a thin slice of sausage meat with a tiny thin slice of bacon, a teaspoon full of cauliflower cheese & a Yorkshire pudding. The beef was tender the veg was ok apart from an abundance of undercooked carrots with 1 huge long one hiding under the beef. The service was friendly. We won’t be visiting again

Came for Sunday lunch. The pub is quite cold and the dessert came with a very small amount of custard. I had to ask the waitress twice for more custard and it never came!! Feels like the prices have gone up, the pub has got a little colder and the service become more patchy. I guess the problem is the higher the prices the more that is expected…

We had high expectations, but the food was really disappointing. We ordered the 1000g Porterhouse sirloin/fillet on the bone for 3 to share. Whilst we had asked for medium-rare, the meat was chewy and rather cold when it arrived. The potatoes were too hard and the vegetables seemed like they had been lying around for hours. Also had one vegan option, which was absolutely distateful, just a sloppy piece of puff pastry filled with some beetroot. Overall, not a nice experience at all and we wont be coming back.

Really disappointed with our food. Went for an early family Christmas celebration, first time at this lovely looking pub, but very unlikely to go back. I had the vegan roast, a beetroot wellington. There were three slices of beetroot between some soggy pastry. Vegetables were dry and had clearly been standing all afternoon. My daughter had the chicken, which she said was nice, rest of family shared a porterhouse which was apparently a bit cold. We left without dessert because it was taking too long to order.

As a South African who appreciates good quality food, especially meat, steaks and grills - this was by the far one of the best experiences and quite frankly, a rare find in local pubs. We had the sharing dry-aged cote de boeuf (we were 3 and it was enough for 3.5 adults) with all the amazing trimmings - it was done to perfection. Cosy ambience and good service topped off a fantastic Sunday lunch, thank you.

Outstanding food and service. We had a good walk nearby beforehand to work up our appetite followed by a late lunch. We all went for the Sunday roasts plus trimmings and were delighted. The pub was still busy at 4pm, not surprising.

Lovely pub with a great Sunday roast, but the service was terrible. After waiting at our table for 30 mins, we asked our waitress if we could order drinks, and then after another 30 mins had to ask her again if our drinks were ready yet. Then when they finally arrived, one of our glasses was mouldy. One of our meals was cold and to be fair, we did get that refunded. From the other reviews, it sounds like a one off experience but I won’t be hurrying back here.

Nice enough pub to stop for a quick beer. They need to clear the used plates and empty glasses etc away pretty quickly from the outdoor front tables, as there are loads of wasps, even in October !! The outdoor stools are not suitable for outdoors, as they are like sponges and were soaking wet. The staff were attentive and cheerful and my pint was nice, even though I had to fish a wasp out of it 🍺

The pub, food and service was mostly all great. they let us sit early on our reservation to shelter from the rain, menu looked and was great. Only small downside was the cheese plate. It was the smallest amount of cheese and jelly on a warm plate, which made it go very sweaty. Otherwise lovely meal, would come back.

Very disappointing meal. Every dish had something wrong, whether it be stale bread with the bland soup, burnt scorch marks on the burger and toast that just left a burnt flavour. We had the 1k T-Bond steak, which took 3 separate attempts to cook to our ask, medium rare. For the prices being charged, there are much better pubs around to choose from.

Excellent service and food. Honestly struggle to find a pub like this anymore. It is so pretty and well kept. The food is fantastic although I only had the fish and chips, it was one of the best I’ve had. Lovely staff who actually know what they’re talking about and are truly passionate about the food. The lady whose name I remember is izzy who was fab but all the staff were a credit to the pub really. We had a dissapointing lunch , having known the White horse for a long time .To start with the pint of Beer was good .Two of us ( one in her mid eighties) had moule ( our favourite !! ) . Both bowls of mariniare smellt like rotton fish and were definately off , so were sent back to the kitchen , where apparently it was fine!! , no apology or acceptance that there was a problem , except we wernt charged for the replacement fishcakes, which were OK. For pudding we had vanilla ice cream that was not the usual vanilla and presented v badly in what looked like a pre used glass bowl ,the chocolate moose was very good however . Sadly , our experience did not come anywhere near previous visits , felt lucky to have got away without upset tummies and food poisoning .

I booked for Sunday lunch yesterday for 2 people. It was a special occasion. I have never been to the White Horse before. As a main course, we both ordered the Roast Beef with the Trimmings. When the food arrived, the Beef was so tough and stringy that we both struggled. I mentioned it to the Waitress who offered to change it. Having already started and not willing to wait for ages, we turned down her offer and decided to do our best, reluctantly. She gave us 2 new sharp steak knives to see if that helped. We tried, but it was awful so we left it. 2 of the published vegetables on your menu were missing and the roast potatoes, I'm pretty sure had been re-heated. The cabbage was also wildly under cooked. When the meal was cleared away, I very politely commented again about the beef. The general service was efficient and prompt but without any "niceties" or real apologies. No welcoming genuine atmosphere in the place at all. Would we go back?......not a chance

Lovely rural setting and the pub is very pretty, however we had a wait of over an hour for food and when it arrived some of it was burned and fairly inedible. I've visited the White Horse many times for drinks before or after a lovely walk through the Surrey Hills. There are indoor and outdoor seating spots, a large rear garden and a front sun trap that is wonderful if the weather is sunny. There's free parking out the back and across the road. It's a gem of a pub with lovely staff and food (I've heard good things about the food from other visitors). I had a lemon beer and it was delicious.

This place is on our door steps. We visit it regularly since last year and we are never disappointed. It’s a lovely country side pub. When winter comes it turns to cosy place with live fireplace and when summer comes it turns to lovely outdoor pub with sunny terrace , huge garden and seating area at the front. We love to pop in here. Food always very good and cook to our expectations. Sunday Roast very good and Yorkshire puddings are huge. Great burgers and fish of the day. I pretty much tried whole menu and all 😊 good. Most amazing and attentive staff. Romy, Maia, Oli, Maria are excellent. They always look after us and know exactly what we like. Always smiling and attentive. If I would run the restaurant or pub I would hijack them ;) Place is very well managed and well adopted to customers. Great manager. My vegetarian option was such a disappointment! I had the burrata to start; it was drowned in olive oil, and unfortunately the chef had decided to put in raw onion, which completely overshadowed the other flavours on the plate. My main was a garden salad. This again was a very sad affair. It was more like a side salad! Thank goodness I opted to pay extra for some goats cheese otherwise I would have been starving! Such a shame as my previous visit had been brilliant. Extremely overpriced for what I received.

Amazing place to stop for lunch. We have been loads of times now and it is always so good. The menu is varied and interesting and they always have plenty of specials on which my boys love as they're lovers of steaks. The pub itself is so pretty and nicely kept. It doesn't seem fussy or too modern, just the right amount of history and character. The staff are all so lovely and professional. We normally sit inside but recently we've been sitting on the patio at the back and it's such a nice suntrap. The garden is massive too and goes into woodland at the back. The locals seem to prefer sitting in the sunshine at the front of the pub and I can't blame them; it's such a pretty view. We will always come back again and again as it's always just so consistently good there.

Until the weather warms up this pub is more a restaurant. Almost the entire indoor space is set up as tables for dining, whilst the substantial garden area at the back looks perfect as an outdoors drinking area. It’s a Youngs pub, with just one guest beer (a local one, as it should be), so be prepared. As with every other pub in the area, Sundays mean Sunday Roast special menus. If that’s not what you’re looking for, then I found that the White Horse menu offered a little more variety and at keener prices than the others I looked at before booking our table. You might smile, but we both ended up ordering the beef burger. It was well stacked with added ingredients and nicely cooked, coming with a generous portion of French fries. We’d shared a starter, and whilst we might have enjoyed something from the dessert menu, we simply hadn’t got enough room in our bellies. Our servers were surprisingly cheerful and welcoming in spite of clearly having had a very busy Sunday afternoon service. Everything was delivered to the table in good time, and every request was met in good order. Well done Team White Horse, we’ll see you again.

The main course I ordered was listed as have mushy peas served with it. When it arrived I could not see any so asked the server if they had been forgotten. He replied that they were on my plate. He was correct but the amout was so small that I missed them. I estimate that the volume was one desert spoonful and equal to the small bowels of sauce. To his credit he did then serve me an additional amount which was satisfactory. One of my party ordered Pavlova but unfortunately it was not made in the tradational style but was solid and nothing like a 'normal' Pavlova. He could not finish eating it and opted for a coffee. Generally, the food was acceptable but I expected better from a situation that was supposed to be enjoyable. Our server was polite and helpful.

My first visit to the White Horse but it will not be my last. It was a Tuesday lunchtime when I happened upon this pub. It looked welcoming from the outside and had a car park directly opposite (and another around the back apparently). I parked up and went inside. The pub was busy but not rammed so I took a stool and sat at the bar whilst I mulled over the good selection of ales and beers. It's a Youngs pub so I went for a pint of their 3.7% London Original which is a very quaffable session beer that slipped down a treat whilst I awaited the food I had ordered. I didn't have a long wait till it arrived and it was delicious. I look forward to trying something else on the menu. I went for open BLT sandwich which usually comes with fries (but I didn't want them on this occasion). Service came with a smile and I was made to feel very welcome. Come here with another couple for Sunday lunch. Our starters were very good indeed, although the pea and mint soup was a delicious pea soup but not much mint. Mains were fine if not especially noteworthy. The yorkshires were the best bit, being light in both taste and texture. The mixed roots were very like a frozen supermarket mix though. The beef was mostly very good and the beetroot wellington was nice. We didn’t fancy any of the desserts, none of which came with custard - very odd for a pub menu. Service was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend it for family and friends." Otto & Ilze

The White Horse is well and truly back to its very best. It did go through a dip a while back, but has been excellent for sometime now and is better in terms of food and service than when it was in private hands.

Lovely country pub. Really good quality fresh food. Whitebait was delicious, fresh and much bigger than your standard whitebait in other pubs. Weekly specials, amazing Sunday roasts, regular food events. Will be amazing in Sumner as garden is big and beautiful. Free WiFi in pub, needed as limited phone signal or mobile data out in the sticks. Lovely area. Once you've been you'll definitely go back!!

Fabulous, lovely pub, friendly staff and great food! We highly recommend going. It’s also got a great beer garden for the warmer days.

An amazing place - it is the heart of a great village community but don't miss this if you are in the area - absolutely brilliant menu, locally sourced food including from their own farm. Staff were pleasant and engaging. Pheasant schnitzel was simply perfect and we had the sticky toffee ginger pud which was glorious. Coffee is brilliant too. We will be back!!!

The menus are well thought out, the food was great and the staff were really friendly. If you like cheese and marmite the cheese soufflé starter will be a real treat, and the burger was perfect. (Too many restaurant burgers are becoming disappointingly small but this was just right). There is a great selection of beers and wines for all tastes too. Looking forward to going again!
