The White Horse Hotel in Waverley

What an absolute experience at the white horse tonight. The service was absolutely amazing, the food was scrumptious and delivered in no time. Staff always made sure you were enjoying the visit. All in all I can clearly give them a 10/10 as they didn’t missed a beat!

Went there for a pint while visiting Haslemere. Nice cosy pub with spacious seating, modern touch and cool atmosphere. Good staff and brilliant service. Not much variety of beer on offer but still good to enjoy whatever they are offering. Clean and tidy place even the toilets were very satisfyingly clean and fresh. Anyhow good place to enjoy a pint or food.

Perfect spot for a family meal. We had a table right by the fire and the service was impeccable!

Visiting Haslemere for a different reason. Popped into The White Horse as they allowed dogs. Turned out they do great food and had some IPAs I'd never tried. Lovely seats next to the fire place and great service from Dom. Highly recommend 5 * from us.

Potentially the best pub in Haslemere … not that competition is tough. Service is usually friendly, but prices are high and it is not even remotely a community pub.

We went for a family roast on Sunday and were pretty gutted by the experience. It's quite a treat to eat out, so we have reasonable expectations that we'll get a nice roast without the hassle of shopping, cooking, and washing up! Unfortunately, we soon learned that there was no chicken left and no horseradish to go with the beef (sacrilege and always hard to understand the lack of a staple condiment when there's a supermarket nearby). The sharer roast we ordered came without some of its advertised accoutrements, so we had to chase these, and they were delivered separately. The carrots and parsnips were disappointing,g but the roast beef was well cooked. At some point, the chef in the kitchen - which must have been nearby - had a Sh*t fit and was yelling so loudly that the whole restaurant heard. I thought maybe he had chopped his finger off or something?! It is not exactly conducive to a pleasant environment. The crux of the review is that the experience could have and should have been a lot better. The staff seemed nice and were apologetic. We wished we'd stayed in a cooked and saved the £140. First time here to eat and probably last.

Signature burger is one of the best pub burgers that have had anywhere. Would also employ Dom the barman for any business, customer service if incredible

First time going to the White Horse and what a great experience it was the food was really good and the staff were friendly. Dom & Pav were really welcoming and polite.

We took my Mum for lunch on Saturday to celebrate her 86th birthday. We were given a lovely table in front of the log fire. The pub was busy. The ambience was very friendly and welcoming. The food was good and the service very relaxed and attentive. They are dog friendly. Mum was even serenaded by the chef and two of the team - and presented with a lovely slice of cheesecake and a personal birthday message. Well done! We will be back. The White Horse is definitely the best option in the local area, for a quick drink and a snack or a full meal. Plus, the menu is very competitively priced.

Really nice atmosphere, food is delicious and there's a good selection of wines and beers.

We had not eaten in the pub for a long time, and were enticed in with the 50% January main meal discount. It turned out to be a great evening and we ended up eating a three course meal, and coffee. Loved the jazzy background music, the food was absolutely excellent, and we had a great table and we ended up having a wonderful date night. What made it was the two male staff members waiting on out table, so were genuinely welcoming, and helpful. Highly recommend the Sea Bass!

Very nice lunch, we had a steak sandwich and chicken/bacon/avocado sandwich, both came with fries. Everything fresh and delicious. The service was also excellent.

Don’t waste your time or money , food was awful only 3 out of 9 people thought their food was ok , roast was tough along with veg, chef needs some severe training!!!! Disgusted

Good pub food and drinks, quiet, parking.

When we've eaten here in the past, food and service was always fairly good. This evening, though, we sat down outside but left before we ordered because it was like sitting in an ashtray, there were so many dog-ends across the whole of the cobbled patio area. Also there were dirty glasses and crockery on most of the tables. Really disappointing, because it's normally a nice place to sit to get the last of the sun.

Pub of choice in the high street in the centre of the Mere. Friendly staff, good selection and always seems to be a bit of atmosphere on the outdoor tables at the front watching the world go by.

Awesome friendliness. Came from a funeral, met Dom. Nothing too much. Exceptional. This is my trade. This was way over and above. They deserve the thanks. They made our night. M.

The staff were super friendly, however the outside area was shocking! I felt like I was sitting in an ashtray. We had our dog with us but could not let her sit under the tables for broken glass and SO many fag butts! I spoke to a member of staff and mentioned the situation, he was polite but basically said it was because it was of Friday night, this was Saturday afternoon!! He told me they were short of time in regards to cleaning up…..with wine at £10 a glass I expect a little better….

Two reviews here, 3 years apart, the most recent 1 June 2024. Because of my good pie experience in June 2021, I returned to the White Horse today, day-tripping from London just for the Steak, Shin & Pale Ale pie. The buttered leek and savoy cabbage get 5/5. The gravy gets 5/5. The creamy mash gets 5/5. The pastry gets 5/5. The steak & beef shin get 1/5. The beef and filling were woefully lacking. Even if the beef content had been doubled, I would have been disappointed and what little I did have was dry. At least the pie casing wasn't bulked out with stodgy veg but the minimal amount of beef and shin in the pie left me feeling disappointed overall. Service. Well. It took several attempts to get the drinks order placed, 3 attempts to get the table water served, and trying to get the bill from the staff and to make payment was nigh on impossible. And the wrong beer was served so a big fail on the service side. There had been a wedding party in earlier so perhaps the team 'clocked off' when the party departed? To be fair, the service wasn’t all bad, there were good aspects such as asking the Kitchen about balsamic vinegar for us. My fellow dinners had variations of the Avocado & Mango salad, one with halloumi added and the other with prawns. They were happy with their meals. <<< >>>> [The below dates to my 4 June 2021 visit.] My friends and I visited the White Horse last summer and really enjoyed our meals so we decided come again (day-tripping from London). Cold, wet weather - perfect for their Steak & Ale Pie. I'm fussy with my food and if I'm going to eat a heavier meal, I want it to be worth it - and this was. The veg was plentiful and really tasty, the mash was great for soaking up the ale gravy and the pie - the pie ... yum! Friendly service too.

Coffee 5 star made by the one and only Gaby . The atmosphere is just wonderful made extremely welcome by Dom.Sausage and Mash is stunning . Had the crumble for pudding really good. Give the White Horse a visit you will not be disappointed.

We had an impromptu Sunday roast with friends last weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful and accommodated our late booking (6 adults, 1 child and 3 babies!) Would come again!

24 people enjoyed a very happy 80th birthday lunch here. Food and service were excellent.

Sign outside shows a sandwich meal deal stating between 12-5, we walk in and sit down then go to order to be told the kitchen is closed 3-5, ended up leaving in search for food elsewhere.

Great place to drink but the food was very underwhelming. The burger was very average and the salad was pretty poor. But a great atmosphere and place to meet friends.

Love the cocktails here, and the avocado and mango salad was a great lunch time choice! Other food looked great aswell. Will have to come back to try more.

Service was varied in the team, some were great and others were really not. Got the order wrong twice and seemed annoyed when we asked for them to rectify it. Would not recommend the roast because the trimmings were just awful. Value for money is varied on the menu. Olives and arancini great value and super tasty, however the chicken fritters and the mango and avocado salad were so pricey for what they were. Barely any mago or avocado in the salad. Cocktails were delicious and good deal on them (although the desk forgot to apply the deal and we had to rectify). Bear in mind when ordering, there is a 10% mandatory service charge which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu.

Waited over an hour for food and then got a burger that tasted like a cheap frozen burger and was inedible. Won’t be going back!

Had a delicious roast, with the meat and potatoes cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely and the whole pub had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, will definitely be returning

Update: The newish management has really let this place down. Cost cutting on the food and inability to keep beer in stock (can't remember the last time I came in and they had their third tap station - where they poured the good beer - in action). Such a shame. Seems like less and less reason to go here over any other standard pub any longer - I hope they are able to turn it around because I really loved this place.

It pains me to say this as The White Horse has been a favourite with my family and friends for years. I treated my mum to a roast dinner in March and, unfortunately, it wasn’t up to the high standard we had previously known. I understand the pub has been under new management since October and I cannot fault the new management’s welcoming, understanding and attentive service. We felt exceptionally looked after and they listened to our feedback and tried to make things right. However, the food was disappointing, particularly the roast potatoes which were pale, white, and looked and tasted revolting - as though they had come out of the deep freeze. They were also cold. We will give the White Horse one last go to sample some other dishes, I hope they live up to expectations.

We didn’t have a booking came on a Sunday we were not disappointed!!! we went for the sharing roast it was absolutely amazing i cannot rate the food highly enough. The service is what made this visit the perfect afternoon i cannot put enough about Nell our waitress she couldn’t be more attentive kind and personable, she really made us feel at home and welcome shes a credit to the place! Thank you so much we will come back again!

What a lovely pub. Nice location, kind staff and pukka customers to boot. Excellent cutlery, condiments, flowers, staff, sauces and seating, with orange velvet. Kindness can be found in this pretty pub, a plenty. And art is everywhere in Haselmere. I'll be back, for sure xx
