Fantastic food and helpful staff! We had the best roast pork and beef and a crispy, delicious fish & chips! The atmosphere is lovely and the restaurant is tastefully decorated. We sat right next to the owner who was there with his family and came for a chat. A lovely gentleman who obviously cares about the business and its customers 🎩🍽. We would come back again. Best of luck to the Wheatsheaf!

The food was exceptional! The selection was incredible and I will 100% keep returning because of this however a few pointers below that would take this place to the next level! Unfortunately, though everyone is incredible pleasant the service just falls short completely. Long wait times both for food and the bill when asked. Some really unconfident and inexperienced service staff who were absolutely lovely but incredibly forgetful and a little all over the place. This affected the overall experience and sadly we weren’t the only table that felt this way as we overheard complaints surrounding us. This place is an absolute diamond of Farnham and I want to see it thrive! Maybe a little more staff training would be handy? 😊

Excellent venue for lunch today. I visited with my wife and we both had different starters and different main courses. Everything was excellent quality and so tasty. The service was a little slow but that seemed to be down to low staffing numbers. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had a lovely lunch today at the recently refurbished Wheatsheaf in Farnham. We chose two starters and two mains - each were different. We were very impressed with each dish. Superb flavours, beautifully presented and pleasant staff. The refurbished pub/restaurant has a lovely feel to it. Highly recommended.

This is the second time I visited The Wheatsheaf and I can honestly say, they offer the best food in Farnham. Apart from Cote and Daniele’s Sicilian and now The Wheatsheaf, everywhere else represents mediocre food at best! The service was great and the wine list easy to choose from. The food was excellent and imaginative and plentiful. I sincerely hope they stay as they have definitely set the food bar higher and I hope others will follow. Well done!

To add to my 8yr old sons review above, we went into The Wheatsheaf on a very quiet January freezing midweek evening and were met with a warm, spotless, comfortable environment with welcoming, friendly staff. We then had the most fabulous meal, every part was freshly made, you could tell, with love and care and cooked perfectly. Jane was so lovely to our kids and couldn't be more helpful when the tough decision of what drink to chose came up! We cannot recommend it enough and we will be going back as often as we can to work our way through the menu! Keep up the good work, such a great addition to Farnhams food offering, we wish the new owners all the best.

We saw that The Wheatsheaf was under new management before Christmas but I was reluctant to try it having had a very disappointing meal last year. I am very glad indeed that the cold weather made us wander in. This was the best food I have had out in a long while. The marmite and cheese souffle alone will definitely lure me back. On top of the great food, we had a very warm welcome from the lovely waiting staff. Absolutely recommend.

Praise the lord…. Quality food has actually landed in Farnham. Under new management and clearly a proper chef now. Visited twice before Christmas - first with a large group, then just as a 2 a few days later because we enjoyed it so much. Food was excellent both times.. pork cheeks followed by pork chop the first time, cheese soufflé and chicken breast the next. All absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Will keep coming back while the food remains this good.

Excellent food yesterday at the wheatsheaf, however unfortunately the service was just not good enough. There we only a few other tables of people yet we had to ask for menus and repeatedly chase a bottle of wine. Such a shame as the food was really good.

The menus are well thought out, the food was great and the staff were really friendly. If you like cheese and marmite the cheese soufflé starter will be a real treat, and the burger was perfect. (Too many restaurant burgers are becoming disappointingly small but this was just right). There is a great selection of beers and wines for all tastes too. Looking forward to going again!

Exceptional steak for lunch with an amazing sauce. Menu was a fraction short on options but not bad for a lunch. Will be coming again.

Popped in on the off chance they had a table in a Saturday night. Great good. It is obvious they have a special chef in the kitchen. I dontbl think you can eat better food in Farnham. Top notch.

This is the first review I've ever written because the food was SO good. Imaginative menu, beautifully served and tasted delicious. The best food in Farnham!

Nice, warm and comfy with an open fire. Inside doesn't quite match the outside of the building, but that is just an observation. Great pint of Guinness but chronically staffed and those that were on appeared inexperienced and out of their depth. Hence only time over a couple of hours or so for a couple of pints. At seven quid a pint, perhaps no bad thing.

Good town centre pub, great staff. Despite being a quiet evening, there was a good atmosphere.

i came in last Sunday with my husband (not the one just gone) and the food was impeccable and flawless - the presentation was also excellent. i wish i had time to write this review sooner! the atmosphere was so welcoming and cozy! perfect for this time of year. the only downfall the new management are having is the untrained staff, we may aswell have been invisible. they have no idea about the drinks they are serving, no knowledge of any of the food and in general just don’t know how to serve tables. luckily one of the older girls stepped up for us as she noticed this poor service from her colleagues, she apologised on their behalf and then gave us 100% attention and made sure everything ran smoothly. i didn’t catch her name but it was the red headed girl, so thank you for that🙏. In no shape or form am i saying the staff are bad, just that they need some training as it is clear who knows what they are doing and who doesn’t. sorry for the little rant😅 but other than that everything was like i said, impeccable!

A group of around 20 of us met up here for drinks before heading off to another restaurant nearby for our evening meal. This is a really lovely pub with great staff. It has a lovely atmosphere and when we all arrived the place was quite busy already at 6pm on Sat 30 Nov. There is a great selection of draught beer on offer but wines do seem to be quite expensive. We had two pints of Moretti, one large 250ml Sauvignon Blanc and a glass of Prosecco and were charged £32:00. We have ordered up the same drinks in other pubs around Farnham and paid a lot less🍷👎🍾!!! This place has no parking assigned to it so you will have to use the Hart Car Park which is the closest pay and display near to it.

We took some friends on a Friday evening for drinks and dinner. it was a little quiet when we walked in around 7pm, but were welcomed by the staff. The pub and restaurant area. soon filled and became pleasantly buzzy. The menu was good, possibly a little meat heavy; one of our party is vegetarian and dairy free but will eat fish at a push. The most appropriate thing (gnocchi) was off the menu when we ordered at 7.45pm!, she had the fish and chips instead. The cheese soufflé was to die for, pork chop excellent and the men said their steaks were good. The service was very good, clearly the team are trained and enthusiastic which is refreshing. The whole experience was a great surprise in a town full of places to get relatively standard fare.

I was torn between giving a 3 and 4, I ended up going 4 because I feel the issues could just be teething issues as they are under new management and could hopefully be turned around. Positive: The roast was gorgeous , every component was well seasoned with great flavour coming through. The negatives .. the service was god awful, like so bad it was getting funny between my table and the other tables around us, the staff need a lot more training and quickly! Ordered a coke and a ‘pint of anything on tap which is an ale or craft’ …waiter stares at me blankly and walks off, 20 minutes later nothing, flagged down another waiter, she said she’d find out what happened to our drinks, another 10 minutes goes by drinks arrive, at this point all the tables around us are staring these waiters down because all of them have been neglected and are waiting on something.. it’s like a full on stand off. Skipping pass the meal we move onto dessert, table orders cake and coffee, coffee arrives no cake.. we wait, we chat, we drink, coffees gone, cake never arrives.. We look around to try and get someone over to get the bill and finally get out of there, I may aswell have been invisible trying to get the attention of anyone was near impossible. Would I come back? If I wasn’t rushing anywhere maybe?

Nice enough pub, clean and well cared for. Good selection of beers, wines and the usual suspects on the spirit rack. Food menu looks to be excellent.

Under new management for a whole week, this pub restaurant is excellent. I had the pork chop for lunch and really enjoyed it, the chef obviously has real talent. Although the staff are obviously dealing with teething problems this in no way detracted from the service or my enjoyment of my meal. My only regret is that I was only visiting the area so will not be able to revisit in the near future.

I came here with my family today and really enjoyed our visit. The staff and management have really improved the feel and decor of the place since its refurb. We were made to feel welcome by Claire who went above and beyond to make sure our visit was a good experience. Will definitely be coming here again and would recommend if you are ever in Farnham

My friend and I visited The Wheatsheaf on opening night, and we were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming, and the food was outstanding. We started with the pig cheek and cheese soufflé, both delicious, but the soufflé with its rich marmite cream was a standout—definitely a must-try! For mains, my friend had the burger, which she loved, while I had the chargrilled pork chop, perfectly cooked and paired with creamy mash, hispi cabbage and the best cider sauce I’ve ever tasted. We finished with the chocolate crémeux, paired with banana, caramel, and popcorn—decadent, balanced, and the perfect end to a fantastic meal. Overall, a fantastic experience at The Wheatsheaf, with great food and attentive service. Highly recommend!

Came here for the new opening night on Tuesday - the atmosphere was cosy and the food was absolutely delicious! The cheese soufflé was knockout and the pork chop was so flavourful! Will definitely be coming back!

CLOSED!!!??? Always looked forward to a Sunday lunch here. The online booking system has been down for a few weeks so I just stumped today, Sunday, 1pm. No lights on, door locked, and no notice about what is happening, 😭

Great value for money, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and dog friendly, the manager even fed the dog whilst we had our lunch, the food is excellent

Popped in for a coffee and pint during the antiques fair, super convenient spot on Farnham's West Street. Cosy seating and really welcoming staff. This is a lovely pub, Great atmosphere, friendly staff. We come here with children, and they are always welcome. The pub has great food options with a large restaurant and cosy courtyard garden.

Popped on for a pub lunch with a work colleague during the week. Nice and quiet. Perfect for a catch up chat. Very simple lunch menu but excellent food. Good beer too.

Went on Saturday 22nd June. No bitters available, only had bottled IPA, lager of Guinness. Menu has changed and not a good as it has been in the past.

Amazing food all round and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The beef roast was delicious, lovely and pink and a generous portion. The burgers were perfectly cooked and juicy and the batter on the fish was crispy and melt in the mouth. The lack of baby change facilities made it a bit awkward at one point, hence not 5 stars.

I visited here last night with my friend for a long overdue catch up. The staff were friendly and our drinks order was promptly taken. I noticed when walking in that they had board games for the bar area as well. The food took longer than usual to come out however this didn't matter. It was delicious and of good standard. We didn't feel rushed and enjoyed our evening here.

Went here for lunch today after a dog walk with friends and had a fantastic Sunday roast, Initially two of us wanted the fish and chips but unfortunately they had ran out of this but if I am honest I am glad they did. Three of us had the pork belly and one had beef roast. All roasts were incredible with generous portion sizes, fantastic gravy and probably the tastiest stuffing I have ever had. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Fantastic food, lovely garden, super friendly owners - can’t fault it! The beers were good too… they even added Easter Eggs to the kids ice cream - we will be back!

It's a lovely place but seems overly priced for what it is. Some mains were between £19 and £25 and they were nothing overly special like ham egg and chips or duck breast. I'm sure it's the area being Farnham it's up market town with money but still it's a pub not a restaurant at the end of the day. I doubt we would choose to go there again to eat as they're are other places with the same produce and menu for a better price. We opted for the light bites meal and that was still over £11 per meal and the sides are £6-7 pounds. They Gluten free options aren't clear either so the waiter had to run in and out to the chef to find out what was what and nowadays that's just not acceptable most pubs and restaurants really cater well for gluten free and advertise it very clearly on the menus or offer separate menus. They are dog friendly and the staff are lovely, but I know they're pushing it price wise.

We went as a family of 9 yesterday .wonderful place warm and welcoming Roast dinner eed was brilliant plenty of meat great Yorkshire pudding .vegetables not much choice did not know what we were eating .so expensive .it did not spoil tge happy occasion for my sons birthdsy.staff so friendly .we traveled from West London.thank you

Been here quite a few times in the last couple of years and always enjoyed it. The last time we came, just after Xmas, it was a temp menu and we really weren’t impressed. Came in today to see if it got better and found out they have a new chef. The food and service were excellent!!! We had a beef burger and a veggie burger and both tasted so good! Loved the triple cooked chips as well. I felt so good I even had bread and butter pudding and again it was amazing! Really impressed and definitely coming back more regularly now!

Lovely chilled atmosphere. Was able to take my dog into the bar with us. Sunday Roast was lovely but beef too red for me. Had to ask for it to be well done.

Dog friendly. Very expensive roast. After a bit of an awkward faff to find our booking, we were finally seated near the kitchen. After nearly 40min our lunch finally arrived, lukewarm. I was halfway through mine when I was eventually given some horseradish for my beef. The roast potatoes were exceptionally good but shame about the warmth. The cauliflower cheese portion was generous, tasty and good value. Accompanying veg all spot on but just lukewarm. They obviously love their food here but sadly, today, they missed the mark. Certainly not worth the price. I removed the gratuity that was added to my bill. I can't remember the last time that I did that.

Lovely evening trying the new menu. Delicious food, friendly staff and roaring fires, what more could you ask for? Only feedback is that we found the sirloin a bit on the thin side, so make sure you order it a bit rare. But very tasty anyway!

Visited for a Sunday Roast today after visiting the church. So disappointed. I don't mind paying for good food and a roast dinner at twenty three pounds is a little expensive, but there was nothing about the plates of food we got that warranted that price. Myself and youngest son had the roast beef which tasted great but was like boot leather, and that is no exaggeration! I was chewing away for a ridiculously long time and eventually gave up as did my son. Tasted nice but completely inedible. My eldest son had the chicken and he reported that it was cooked well and tasty. However, the portions were very very small. We each had 3 teeny roast potatoes three carrot batons, and one small floret of broccoli split into two! That was it - the boys had a Yorkshire pudding but as I am gluten free I didn't get one and was not offered a gluten free option. The vegetables, as well as being scarce, were almost raw; I understand the principle of al dente but this was so hard it was difficult and unpleasant to eat. None of us really wanted to complain and we were also very hungry after a lengthy wait, but after five minutes of fruitless chewing, we admitted defeat and I spoke to a member of staff. I was offered a refund which I accepted and as we left the pub my son apologized for complaining (been brought up well!) and the staff member simply said it was fine! If I'm being charged almost sixty five pounds for three roast dinners not only would I expect food that was edible, and filled the plate, but also a decent level of customer service.

Just returned after a fabulous lunch. The food was outstanding and the service was 1st class, even though they were short-handed. Nothing was too much trouble and the chef, Danny, was great at checking everything was OK and explaining what was available and was brilliant at suggesting alternatives. The food he prepared was excellent and you can tell that he cares about what he serves to you. I'll certainly be back for the venison, it isn't on enough menus but it was perfect. Everyone was pleased with their meals. There is something a little bit extra here. The items on the menu may seem familiar but some little touches and tweaks elevate them slightly. Can't wait to come back

We had our wedding here yesterday and I can not fault the team! Jack was so easy to deal with in the lead up and he made our day so special. The food was incredible and all our guests were able to choose their own food for the 3 course meal from a bespoke menu created for us! Everyone had said they will now think about it when booking an event! Great people, great service. Spot on!

Down on three of four real ales. The pub was fine. I am very aware that the entire secret is getting a kicking currently, so choice is not once where it was. The staff were friendly and it was busy.

Visited for the first time in a while. Service was great. Staff were really friendly. Food was delicious 😋 The steak cooked at the table on the lava stones was brilliant (a little smokey with 3 of us cooking!) Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

Went to this pub in the afternoon so it was not very busy, we did not have food but did look at the menu and I must say that some of the food on offer sounded really great and prices were what you expect to pay. This pub is very misleading as from the out side it looks small, so it a real surprise on just how big it is on the inside and the decor of the pub is great. I only had the real ale which was good and well served. When I am in Farnham again I shall pop in and try the food hopefully I shall time it right and they are serving food and the place is not packed out. As I got the impression that in the evenings it could a very busy place. So worth a look if you are in that part of Farnham and what a nice place to sit and have a drink or two.

Not much room up at the bar but a very good range of lagers and ales. Definitely worth a visit!

Great variety of Beers and plenty of room to enjoy your wide choice of meals I'm sure normally this establishment runs very well unfortunately we chose an occasion where lack of staff meant to a very long wait for our meals on the flip side when they eventually arrived they were cooked to perfection and the duty manager was very apologetic and professional

First time going to the pub for a large group celebration meal. Starter was amazing and huge but the steak and lack of regular drinks service let it down (we had to keep going to the bar to order more drinks) Good atmosphere.

A couple of pieces of advice... 1. Make sure you don't sit too close to the kitchen as you won't be able to hear yourself think trapped between the chefs' loud music and the bar music. 2. Also it's wise to check that all the adverised components of the dish appear on the plate before you start eating.
