The bar staff gave us the wrong information about the food and when we received the food and we mentioned it the guy said he investigated but nothing happened. The food was over cooked and small portions and nothing special. Will not go back. Table next to us also complained about the food and no one finished their food. Very disappointed

Very good venue for a wedding. Would have given five stars for the food but for the children's plate. The adults' food was excellent. The canapés were good too. The views across the water definitely added to the atmosphere and ambience with the passing ships and so on.

Terrible food for £££ costs. Four members in our party of six picked the "signature dish" which was pan-fried cod with some potatoes and cream sauce. What we received was an obvious microwaved piece of fish that hadn't seen a pan. It was evident because the scales on the bottom were still intact that lacked any sign of salt or heat. Including the false advertising was the lack of flavour. The seasoning was non-existent and to resolve I had to coat my food with the salt and pepper provided. No one should have to season their own restaurant signature dish dinner for £22. The positives were that the décor and maritime theme was homely. Though we complained about this negligence, we received a 20% discount. Disappointing. Recommend you avoid.

Lovely location, atmosphere, great service. But unfortunately my starter (Belly pork with 2 small scallops) was rubbish, over cooked and tasteless. My main (signature pan fried cod) was not pan fried, probably microwaved, dry and tasteless. My dessert (sticky toffee pudding) didn’t taste fresh. Again dry and bland. Overall the food spoiled it (kind of food you’d get at weatherspoons, just 3 times the price!). Sorry for the bad review as the staff were great, but the food was a waste of money.

Slap bang on the waters edge with a fantastic view across the mouth of the harbour. On the same day we visited, we later discovered (on Instagram) that Dom Jolly (of Trigger Happy TV fame) was also having a drink at the pub - gutted we didn’t spot him. Still, we had a decent pint and watched the boats go past.

Third time I've had lunch here and cannot fault the service or food. We've always been given a seat by the window which has a great view of the ferries coming into port at Portsmouth Harbour. The staff are friendly and efficient. Our party of 5 had the Crispy Pork Cheeks which were lovely, vegetable soup and salad for starters, mains were cod (enormous), fish pie and chicken - all very lovely. Dessert of ice cream and brownies plus coffee. Not the cheapest, bust great food and location, recommended.

Four of us arrived at 1pm for Sunday lunch. We waited at our table for half an hour before deciding to go to the bar and get our own drinks. A further half an hour later our orders were taken and I think we were finally eating something by 2:30!! The roast chicken dish had very very little meat. A miniature chicken drumstick and another piece of breast even smaller, nothing more! Plenty of veg and gravy though. Roast beef was a better portion. We had to go to the bar ourselves for the second round of drinks too, which was not ideal. Very poor service, ok food.

Three of us arrived without a booking and were greeted by staff at the door. They checked the capacity on the computer and showed us to a free table. They did not offer us menus and none were on the table. After waiting ten minutes, I went to the bar and asked for some menus. I was then informed that we had to place our order at the bar. The three of us all had the same main course, haddock and chips. It was served with home made mushy peas and tartar sauce. The batter on the fish was nice and crispy and the chips were cooked to perfection. I can honestly say, it was the best fish and chips that I have eaten in many years. The price per head was £17.50, I do not think that is an unreasonable amount. The waiter was a friendly and cheerful man. We only had soft drinks, but they had a good range of beers (this is a Fullers pub) and spirits.

We were visiting the area and called in for a drink. It has two floors, but they were only allowing certain people to go upstairs, despite people eating in both areas. It was busy and we were lucky to find a seat inside, there is a large outdoor seating area, but not great in February. Great view across the entrance to the harbour watching the ships and ferries coming and going. First impressions excellent as we were shown to a fabulous table with brilliant views. Soon shocked by the stained and tatty seating. Fair enough if outside but not good enough indoors. Nice waiting staff who explained from the outset the items that weren't available on the menu and what the daily specials were. The burgers were ordered by 3 of our party and they were happy with them and we all had the most delicious chips. There didn't seem to be much with the burger and chips though as it wasn't a cheap item. I would expect to see a better salad garnish with some coleslaw. Hubby had the risotto which he enjoyed. I had the mushroom, avocado and beetroot sandwich and requested it in toasted ciabatta. The ciabatta was really dry and didn't seem toasted but the waiter explained that the inside was toasted only. I was expecting a normal toasted ciabatta with the outside toasted and to be honest this would have disguised the dry bread so they missed a trick there. The filling was ok but not as nice as I was expecting and pretty tasteless. Then we ordered coffees and a couple of us ordered the mini pudding with coffee. The coffees came and were really nice but no sign of the puddings for a ridiculous amount of time such that we were about to give up and ask for our bill when they suddenly appeared. My mini bread and butter pud was ok but not worth the calories! In summary, a fabulous setting and other reviews of the food suggest that there are better menu choices to be had. Spend a bit of money on better seating, get the food consistently good and this will be a fabulous place to visit.

I totally recommend this place. They are not the cheapest but I would say that the money you pay here is well spent. My family and I went for lunch for my dad's 50th birthday. We had a seat by the window so we had a lovely view over Portsmouth Harbour. The staff were extremely friendly and patient. And the food was no less than perfection. We had an appetizer of Rosemary Focaccia and olives, it was delicious!! I started with the Crispy Pork Cheeks which were amazing. It fell apart and was full of flavour. I then had the Beer Battered Haddock for the main course. The fish was brilliantly cooked and the chips were cooked to perfection. Although it wasn't the cheapest, the money is totally worth it. I would definitely come here again! One suggestion would be to add a drinks list but it is very minor and did not impact the meal at all.

Visited the Still & West for lunch today. It's located in Old Portsmouth by The Point and is right at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour with stunning views, particularly from the upstairs resturant. Inside the decor is a mixture of mock 18th century architecture and more modern maritime themed touches. The ambience inside is snug and comfy downstairs and light and airy upstairs. Real open fires on both floors. Unfortunately, my favouraite tipple, Gale's HSB, was unavailable so I chose a bottle of Fuller's ESB instead. All the items on the menu were available at the time of my visit and there was also a specials board as well. I had fish & chips and they were absolutely delicious. The batter on the fish was crispy and tasty and the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection - it just melted in the mouth. Proper home cooked chips too with (as far as I could tell) home made tartar sauce and mushy peas. The fish and chips cost £18.50, not cheap I know, but worth it in my view when the quality of the food and cooking is this good. Service was friendly and efficient. My thanks to Henry and his collegues for the exemplary way they looked after me during my visit. A lovely pub in a great location with excellent food and service. Highly recommended.

We visited between Xmas and New Year for early evening dinner. Our table was upstairs and it felt so welcoming and special. We had a lovely laid out table by the windows with a beautiful view across the harbour. The staff were friendly and polite. Drinks came quickly. A few minutes after we ordered, we were told that none of our dishes we ordered from both standard and special were available. It was a much reduced menu - possibly should have been told at the start. It was disappointing as it all sounded so nice. We all chose again. Food was served hot and relatively quickly as well. My sea bream was tasty but quite over cooked. Desserts again, we ordered but many of the dishes were unavailable and we had to re-order. The reduced menu could be due to the time of year but I think we’d have appreciated it if we had been told at the start what was actually available.

I have taken a couple of days to reflect on our experience on Xmas Day and the disappointment of pretty much everything on the day, before writing this mail, if for no other reason but to calm down somewhat and put into words my feelings as accurately as possible so that not only do I give some constructive criticism but I also hopefully convey the degree of disappointment felt. Firstly, we had three overseas guests with us and really wanted to show them the best we could from a local pub and have used the S&W many many times in the past thirty years, living just around the corner in Old Portsmouth. However, what we actually received was nothing more than a total waste of our money. £95 each suggests something special, but if I take each meal in turn I have the following comments Appetisers Quality was OK, they were unexpected and hence probably the only positive. They were not great but a surprise so we at least felt that some effort had been made to make the meal special (that’s where that thought ended!) Starters OK, seemed to be what was promised Mains Turkey - absolutely awful, roast potatoes were inedible and hard, meat seemed to be a Turkey roll rather than carved from an actual bird and accompaniments (stuffing and pigs in blankets) just sitting on top like an after thought, which tasted of nothing. Cauliflower Wellington Inedible Hard crust, dry inside and no attempt to do something different with the veg, horrible Fish Fish was OK but how on earth you can you serve sprouts with fish I really do not know and no other veg offered Desserts Xmas Pudding Asked for cream rather than ice cream and told you didn’t have any…really??? Now, once the food was done with, we asked for coffee…no decaf available…really????, no cream again as with the Xmas pudding!!! and a bowl of chocolates that really showed how cheap you were treating your customers…snickers and bounty ?…really felt special after that thanks! So, looking back on this experience I feel a total fool. Ripped off paying nearly £500 for 5 pretty much inedible meals and worse still paying money to a restaurant that really showed no sign of valuing its customers and wanting to do something special for them on their special day. It all felt very cheap, served up on a conveyor and an experience that we will not, ever, go through again

We are a family party of 4 who went for Sunday lunch. We were escorted to an upstairs window table (as requested on booking) and soon attended to by a very pleasant and engaging server. Our drinks came swiftly and our food order taken. The food arrived in good time and extra sauces delivered promptly. However, several of our meals were disappointing : the Beef was TOUGH / SINEWY and soon given up on, The chips accompanying the Burger and also the Fish meal, were few and far apart. The forth meal - Roast pork dinner was good. Our four deserts should be classed as" Light Bites" The order of 2x ice cream balls were near hemispherical - rather than full scoops - not good value at £2.5/scoop. The lime and raspberry posset lacked any form of decoration, and I opted for the apple and blackberry crumble, which was tiny but very tasty. One of the desserts was deducted from the bill as a gesture of good will for the inedible beef . We accepted this, as the earlier offer of replacement beef didn't seem a viable option. In retrospect, we should have requested that the roast beef dinned be deducted from the overall £123 bill. Good service and location but food not so good.

One carrot, one parsnip, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes was ok. That's all, ok. My son in law left most of his beef. So chewy. £20 per roast dinner I think is so expensive. But thought if it's nice. It'll be worth it. But sorry Still and West, it wasn't. Very disappointed. 4 dinners ( no puddings), coffee, coke, small wine and a small shandy, £102. That's just the food and drink. And if you like feeling like a sardine crammed in a tin, you'll be ok. I dont think they could squeeze another table or chair in there. How you can manage to have a combination of under cooked and over cooked food on the same plate is unbelievable. Roast chicken dinner was a sliver of breast and a drumstick. Roast beef dinner was three slices of overcooked beef. Food was either warm or cold on the same plate and not once were we asked how the food was. We complained when we paid the bill which was met with the response "We will inform the kichen" the amount of food left on the plate when returned should have informed the kitchen. Even the chicken gougons ordered by our granddaughter were so dry they made her gag and we had to remove the coating. Totally overpriced, poor quality and definately not value for money. At least half a dozen places in the area better value and better quality. Hang your head Fullers!

Definitely, it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. Very fresh fish, delicious sauce, and special peas. Polite staff and great location in Portsmouth old town. Highly recommended.

Still & West was recommended to us and we were very pleased it was. We enjoyed a three course meal in a relaxed atmosphere . Our server Henry was informative attentive and very friendly throughout. A real credit to the Fullers estate. Would definitely recommend . Keep up the good work Henry !

Wonderful pub with an amazing view, and it's dog friendly. It's quickly becoming our favourite pub in Portsmouth!

Lovely place to sit and eat and watch the world to by. My husband didn't want a main meal and they were quite happy for him to have a starter.

We came here for lunch with family The crab burger was £18.50 but was very poor. We also had sea bream which we had to send back as it was contaminated with another fish. The fish was swapped for a sandwich but unfortunately the wrong sandwich was provided. The staff were polite and understanding throughout and the views are stunning.

Omg this place was a shambles! The rudest barstaff I've ever encountered. I asked for a red bull because I'm a driver. He responded 'we don't serve that kind of person in here' (note I was in shirt and jacket). That was just the beginning... Disaster. Such a shame as the location is nice, and someone has made a concerted effort with the decor.

Visited once for an evening hot chocolate and piece of cake, while watching the boats sail by but definitely going back to try some of the delicious food we saw.
