Been there twice and both times food was amazing. Highly recommended.

Hidden Gem, Star Balti, great service, happy attentive staff both in the bar and the restaurant. Food 1st class, booking recommend to avoid disappointment. £17.95 for 5 courses! Fbk page regularly updated with offers, Lamb biryani 👌🏽👌🏽melt in the mouth! Child friendly. Coffee with cream to finish,or ice cream 🍨. Will certainly return. Keep up the hard work guys 👏🏽👏🏽

Really poor, I’ve been twice but the food is bang average.

Excellent place, I find it best to visit myself, reasonably priced with excellent quality and service. Down side, if you go has a large party please book and the Bar receipt is separate from the food side. Easy to work out.please let this put you off...

Great outdoor space for functions, I attended a baby shower there which was lovely.

Really sad this pub has been left to rot, it was such a beautiful local when the previous owners were there. Unprofessional and scruffy looking staff, no warm welcome, limited drinks, no atmosphere, dirty glasses and several core drinks not in stock. It’s shell of what it used to be. Shame on the new owners, you’ve managed to ruin what was once a busy and friendly local. We will not return until it has someone take over who cares.

Great food, great service, and reasonable prices. Royal kebab starter is a winner. Good chunks of chicken in the curry. Very good👍

Had an Indian meal 4 people really enjoyed it. Crippled with heartburn should have had gaviscon earlier. Can't blame the food just the 🤡 who ate it.

Probably chose the worst evening to visit when restaurant/kitchen was short staffed but instead of letting diners know what was going on (found out via their post the next day on facebook), they tried to cram everyone in and then had people waiting over 2 hours for food to arrive. A number of tables walked out. It's a shame because the food was nice (not up to Tingley balti usual standard), but still OK.

Very disappointed. Party of ten of us & every dish was poor. Undercooked raw vegetables. The owner wasn’t interested when brought to his attention he walked away. Sadly won’t be going again.

Well what can I say. First time in the Star since before lockdown. What a disappointment. Firstly a bar with no hand pulled beer on a Friday night. All hand pulled beers were off. Why does the landlord not order enough beer? Will it be off all weekend? So I’ll have a bottle of red wine. Oh no you won’t as the red wine is kept in a cold cellar. Finally settled on a lager and a pint of soda and lime which cost £2.20 for a glass of carbonated water and a splash of lime. Then into the restaurant. What a disappointment. No atmosphere, little ambience and so unlike an Indian restaurant as you can get. Open 2 months and it seems little effort or money has been expended in making the restaurant feel welcoming and atmospheric. There was no Christmas decorations apart from a few lengths of tinsel. Make the effort. There is expanding foam squirted in the door to stop a draught not even trimmed to tidy it up. So to the service and the food…..poppadoms n pickle tray good and that is where the praise ends. Not offered water nor wine and it is clear that the restaurant and the bar are independent enterprises and neither promoting the others goods. The main course arrived. Cold. Had to send both dishes back. We were told that the dishes we picked were mild. We asked for it to be made slightly hotter. The waiter said the chef could do it ‘Asian’ style. Wow the dishes were made so incredibly hot that they were inedible. I like hotter curries but these were cooked to another level! So having wasted the food we finally asked to settle bill. Needless to say that was wrong too. We had been overcharged. It was embarrassing to challenge the bill but I felt the need to do so, so they can be more careful with other customers. All in all a very disappointing experience and one that I won’t want to repeat. I hope the bar and restaurant take note of the issues raised and up their game.

As locals we booked a table to support a local business. But it was a waste of time. We booked a table and were seated on time. It was 20mins before our order was taken and we left 45 mins later with no further interaction with the staff. We explained we were unhappy and were leaving. It was disappointing that restaurant staff offered no apology. It should be noted that bar staff, under different management, were very good throughout. We won't be going back.

A lovely little pub. They’ve just opened an Indian restaurant called Star Balti and the food was fantastic. The owner came out to chat with us to make sure we were happy and the staff were all lovely. Would highly recommend.

We went to the Star Inn for lunch on Sunday afternoon and sat outside. Our order was brought out incorrectly, and one of the dishes was pulled pork on nachos, however was not pulled and instead was cubes of meat on the nachos. The toys in the beer garden look like they need replacing as they are all very dirty and most of them are broken. When I told a member of staff that the dishes were incorrect, she just shrugged her shoulders.

Would not recommend. Poor food and customer service. Most of the outdoor toys are broken.

Went for a meal and ordered two beef and onion sandwiches. The beef tasted and smelt off. The meat looked a grey colour. Informed the waitress and was offered another meal, which we declined. Both meals were left fully. We left and was still charged full price. Personally think the customer service when it comes to poor meals which weren’t eaten and being charged full price is pretty ridiculous. Had one bite and the taste still hasn’t left my mouth. Would never go back.

What a disappointment compared to our last visit in 2021. We asked if the chips were home made told yes they were not they were frozen as was everything else on my plate other than the bit of salad. If you like fresh good food this is not the place for you.

Great atmosphere and service, lovely food, and a really good play area. We have eaten here quite a few times now, and the food is always really good and big portions. You get loads for what you pay. Everyone who works there is very friendly and welcoming. The play area and outdoor seating are also really good. This particular time, they had a bouncy castle, which was free, so that was a great extra. The rest of the time they have a big climbing frame, swings, slides, 2 sit on tractors, lots of ride on toys and plenty of seating.

Was at a wedding reception. Nice venue with a nice outdoor area.

Had planned to eat here mid journey to the dales, when we arrived it was shut.

I am not a icence of a public house myself and if a pub was run like this I would be annoyed. I know by 9.30 children have to be out of a pub.. We have been recommended this pub as staying up the road and it's a shame as because they would get lots of trade from this. Kids running a pub and their friends running a mock Music been played way too loud. Never again. It's a shame as its a lovley pub we would have spent more but just very loud people. Sort this out or will become another static Plus the menu way too expensive 2 pounds for a bread cake and 3 pounds for gravy??

Visited for Sunday lunch, haven’t been to this pub for a few years, was excellent but things have changed! The staff are pleasant but the service and food was poor. We sent 3 meals back and received refunds.

We booked a family meal at the Star Inn to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. 14 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the slow cooked beef dinner was delicious. My Father-in-law quoted the steak and ale pie was the “best pie he‘s ever had”. We would highly recommend the Star Inn for anyone wanting lovely home made food.

This used to be such a good pub, always busy with really good food. Sadly since COVID it appears to have lost its way. There are few people in now, even for a Sunday lunch. There was no draft ale at all on Sunday, which for a pub is pretty poor. The food is ok, but a massive dollop of lumpy mash was off putting and the veg is over cooked. The slow cooked beef was lovely, as was the lamb but the place could be so much better. It lacks an atmosphere and some music would have been nice to drown out the tik tok videos that the people on the next table were playing very loudly. It’s a pub in a great location with good potential, but needs some TLC…

Absolutely appalling meal tonight, would not recommend at all. The pub was empty !!!!! I think that says it all.

Went there for a birthday party. Only 2 bar staff on all the time we were there. Ordered Moretti but was told i could only have it in a Coors glass, i could have a Moretti glass but it would be warm. Paying top prices for drinks & they can’t even put them in the right glasses & to be honest it wasn’t the best Moretti i’ve had either. Hand dryers in toilets didnt work, no paper towels either. No sign of anyone in charge ie landlord. Behaviour of some of the people not attending the party was shocking & no one was there to sort it out. Very poorly run pub based on this visit. If you are the owner/landlord go & visit a couple of pubs in the next village to see how its done.

Took my mom out for Sunday lunch today and feel bad for saying this but it was pretty average. Firstly, only 1 draught later left as they had run out.. not the end of the world. Then for the mains, no lamb, no chicken nuggets, no peas and the veg choice was broccoli and cauliflower cheese only. Lots of mash and my belly pork was huge but a bit boring.. kids burger was good and the sausages for the mains were fine. Just a bit boring as it was 3 sausages and a dollop of mash. My mom had steak and ale pie which was full of onions which overpowered the rest of the meat (who put onions in a steak and ale pie). Oh and we waited ages for the meals even though there were about half a dozen in the place. Don't like bagging independent eateries but won't be rushing back, have been here several times over the years and this was by far the worst so 3 stars.

Came here for a family get together and the food was amazing! Had the homemade steak n ale pie with chips n mushy peas. Others had lasagna which was also homemade and chicken curry. Was definitely homemade and cooked to absolute perfection. Thanks to all the staff who were lovely and attentive at all times.

Absolutely disgusted - booked a table for our anniversary dinner, we had our first date here years ago, contacted after booking to say they had a party would we be alright in the snug to which we accepted - turned up for the meal and no room in restaurant or snug but you can sit in the bar!!!!!! Thanks Starr In for ruining our anniversary, shame I can’t give you zero stars

Called in for a drink after walking over from ossett. Nice place but couldn't order a snack, because we hadn't booked a table? We were happy to eat it stood up or sat in the garden. But not to be.

We went here for an early evening meal, we were made to feel very welcome. The food was very nice but perhaps a bit more expensive than usual pub prices, especially the drinks. The outdoor play area was nice for the children and plenty of parking.

We have recently been to The Star and had a couple of meals. I really enjoyed the pie's They are really tasty and filling with a great portion. The staff are friendly and helpful Great atmosphere in the Inn Also I've taken my staff for a drink and it's nice to find somewhere you can just relax. Plenty of seating inside and out with a play area for the little ones. Easily located just out of Wakefield on the Batley rd Good sized car park Definitely worth a try It is a good place to walk to as there are plenty of countryside walks locally

Massive portions and amazing food. Brilliant value for money

First time we have been here, certainly won't be the last. We came especially for the pies and we weren't disappointed. Three steak and Ales , Cottage Pie and Corned Beef , three choices of pie topping makes it even more special. Every one was delicious and all the vegetables to accompany our meal were perfect. The young lady who served us was so pleasant ,only her second shift but you wouldn't have known. The beer garden looked great too . We will definitely be back.

We went for lunch with friends there was no heating on so very cold. The gammon was undercooked accompanied by a slice of tinned pineapple that was very unappetising. The salmon was also only just cooked pale and watery. Not much choice of dessert sold...

Prior to lockdown we had decided to give the Star a miss, we heard it had changed hands about a year ago so we had lunch. What a difference no pretentious over priced and over seasoned food. We were welcomes with a friendly smile, lunch...

Empty bar when we arrived so enjoyed a drink listening to the staff complaining about not getting paid right etc etc louder than the music. How can something that was once so good become so bad?

Lovely food , been tonight. Got our bill and the price on the recipt was £10 for steak pie chips and veg but on till recipt was £12 . We paid it as they said prices gone up. Who goes into Next and picks a jumper up at £20 and goes to the till and pays £22. Went last week all was great. Very disapointed ,

Nice outside area,need to sort the kitchen as it was over an hour wait for food (they did warn us tbf) and it wasn't even busy....maybe 10 tables eating at most.

Lush place and food was amazing

This place used to be great for food but has gone downhill massively..the sunday dinner came out which looked like it had been microwaved.the veg was cold and the staff are rude.huge disappointment avoid this place its changed hands and it's gone well below par.if you go you will definitely walk out not enjoying that dinner one bit 🤮

Service was slow and only veg on the Sunday dinner was carrots and cauliflower/broccoli cheese. If you don't like either you have no veg. The Yorkshire pud, beef and gravy were superb.

Really lovely pub, friendly staff- really helpful and attentive, very clean and well kept inside, great value for money, home cooked food. We ordered two meals and a side and sat in the beer garden- could not fault the food at all! Piping hot, tasted amazing, lots of verity/options. You could tell it was freshly made to order. The staff we spoke to- a really kind man and lovely waitress- Rosie perhaps? made us feel very welcome and checked on us a few times incase there was anything else we needed. After our visit yesterday we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely evening!

I visited with my wife for the 1st time after change of ownership. the staff were welcoming and friendly, that is the best comment I can give, because the star is no longer a home from home pub, nor is the food up to much....

Really good place, now that it has changed management

We had a lovely meal at this pub. The staff are very friendly and very attentive. It's great to see a local put staying open in these difficult times as we head into tier 3 lockdown. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks.

Went for Sunday carvery and it was absolutely delicious have already re booked for two weeks time, service was great and would recommend to all

This is a difficult review to write because essentially I’m going to write a review that criticises the pub for providing low quality food when it never set out to offer good quality food. It’s like criticising a fish and chip shop for not offering...
