Fantastic afternoon spent in the beer garden. The staff are super friendly and the beer pours well! Had a couple of guinness before moving to whiskey. Both served well and table serve due to Covid is working well too

Where to start. First and last time coming to this pub today. It states friendly staff. Lol old bag serving was far from friendly i had to repeat myself twice as i think she left her hearing aid at home. 2 beers and two packets of crisps £8.55 she never even told me the total just took my card and paid contactless. VERY RUDE. A funeral home has more life in it. Will not be back again.

A nice pub with large outdoor seating area and carpark. This is an old pub so if tall like me mind your head inside with it having a low ceiling as all old pubs have. The staff are lovely and it has a welcoming feel. Clean inside and out

Great value ,more important excellent quality . Went as a couple ,wE both choose beef ,there was also chicken or pork . 3 thick slices of beef ,fresh veg ,gorgeous gravy ,mash ,roast and a Yorkshire pud .Best in Wakefield .

This is our local and ticks most of the boxes. Since it was taken over last year, things have stepped on. They really make an effort in terms of their ales and food - and the outside area is much improved, particularly their shrubs and flowers. It would be good to see some proper local ales.

We were very pleasantly surprised that entering a pub, in Flanshaw (Wakefield's answer to the Bronx) didn't result in any form of physical injury. This is a genuinely nice pub. It has some decent beers. Beep found the barmaid very attractive. There's an "adults only" snug which probably seems a little different when the sun goes down but mid afternoon when we were there seems welcoming. We're going to go back to try the food and for Beep to flirt awkwardly with the barmaid.

Real good value for money and top quality food. The landlord does the cooking and you can tell that he uses the best of meats and vegetables. For just a pound you can add a pudding which is amazing as most places charge about 4 pounds. Would highly recommend and if you are a dog owner they are also welcome in certain areas. Well done to the New Albion as all staff are very friendly and also the drinks are very cheap. We only paid just over 12 pounds for a bottle of wine, a pint and a coke.

We are local to the area and walk past this place most nights. We have lived in the area for 17 years and have never been inside. We saw the advertisement outside and decided to give the steak night a go. Our expectations were not overly high, however we had a nice surprise. The landlord and landlady were most welcoming on arrival. When taking our order, specific requests were acted upon and confirmed during the cooking process. It appears the landlord prepares the food himself and a fine job he made of it too. The steaks were of a good quality and the portions were more than ample. We certainly had excellent value for money at £19.95 for two steak dinners and a bottle of wine. We will be giving this place a further visit in the future, there is an additional bonus that they also serve real ale which will also entice me back in for just a drink.

This fabulous pub in Alverthorpe has been taken over by a wonderful couple, Paul & Chrissy. Me & my hubby have eaten here many times over the last month. Good choice of traditional pub food at affordable prices. Haddock & chips £5.50 A*. Steak night on Tuesday n Saturday £19.95 for 2 people plus a free bottle of wine, cooked to perfection. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed and will definitely return. Plus real ales a bonus

I recently came to the new Albion with my parents, husband and my two small children for Sunday lunch. It's been shut previously and has now reopened by a lovely couple. The Sunday lunch was beautiful. I had beef (plenty of it too), the others also had pork and chicken. The portion size was great and wow the mashed potato and gravy, I could have just ate a plate full of it by itself. The food has vastly improved since it's previous owners and it's all home cooked. No aunt Bessie's here. They're also advertising a steak night and fish and chips night, which we will definitely be trying in the future. The landlord and landlady were incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. It's a little gem of a pub and really worth a visit whether you're just going for a few jars for a bite to eat. Home from home.

Me and my family visit this pub nearly every week never disappointed. The food is cooked to perfection definatly worth the money. The staff are really friendly can't do enough for you. I would definatly recommend to visit the new Albion.

Grand pub/restaurant and the food will speak for itself when you go. (did not order starter so cannot comment on if it come's at the same time as the main, my son did not order a burger so again cannot comment if it was not up to scratch) we will be eating in this establishment again keep up the good work Albion its nice to see a local thriving

As regulars to The New Albion we can wholly recommend this little gem of a place for both food and for drinks. The food is of excellent value, especially as it is always fresh and locally sourced. Thursday nights Steak Night cannot be recommended highly enough, fantastic value. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the ales are really well kept as well as offering alternatives regularly. Overall the New Albion represents great value, great variety of drinks, excellent food ans all in a friendly and sociable atnosphere.

As soon as I walked into this place I realised that I had made a mistake. It is filthy and the toilets are even worse. Ordered starters and mains. Cutlery came and was covered in dried on old food. Complained and landlord came with a filthy tea towel and wiped them!!! Starters and mains arrived all together!!! My wife and I ordered steak, well, I am a butcher and I have no idea what type of steak this was. It was tough as old boots and full of gristle. My son had a burger and he said that it was the worst he has ever had Tripadvisor, please take note, this place should not be in the top 300 never mind being placed at number 25. If you do go, please wipe your feet on the way out.

Absolute first class service and food! A must for anyone visiting or living in Wakefield! We will definitely be going back!

Pub is consistently very friendly, both staff and customers, and the food is spot on. Had Christmas dinner on Christmas Day and you could not fault it! Also recommend the £20 for two steaks and bottle of wine on Thursday. Have been meaning to try the beer and burger on Wednesday, but not made it yet. Hopefully there will be some live music/events going on now the weather is improving - keep us updated!

Just had a delicious Sunday dinner, fresh vegetables, excellent value for money followed by a home made cheesecake to die for! Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Good choice of beers and the two we had were very well kept. Definitely returning very soon.

We went to the New Albion for their Thursday special steak meal & what great value it turned out to be. For just £20 we had a tender substantial steak in peppercorn sauce & cooked exactly as we like it (rare), complete with onion rings,chips & mixed salad topped with coleslaw, washed down with a nice bottle of red wine. The atmosphere in this pub is welcoming & warm, the staff are friendly & attentive & with a great selection of real ales to add to its attraction. We will be back.

I was pretty unsure what would happen to this pub when Everards took over from Ossett Breweries, however having visited it for lunch twice in 3 days, I can honestly say it is still a great local. It is cosy and retains the feel of a proper pub, the food is freshly cooked and locally sourced, and there are some great real ales on offer. There is always a friendly welcome, and the prices are unbelievably good value. The lunch time menu gives a good selection, something to suit everyone, they even serve a brunch which sounds brilliant. The evening menu has all the things you would expect from a traditional pub, and they have Specials nights, for example on a Thursday night you can get 2 steak dinners and a bottle of wine for 20 pounds. A friend of mine who has tried this deal said the steaks were fantastic. I do hope that locals and people from further afield will visit this place as pubs like this are becoming a rarity, which is a great shame.

While walking past me and my family noticed this pub and decided to nip in and have some dinner, we got a very warm welcome, ordered our drinks and sat down, the beer is kept perfectly, we then ordered our dinner, Sunday lunches all round, was expecting the usual pub grub but was pleasantly surprised, the food was all home made fresh, no boil in the bag rubbish, it was presented beautifully and served with a smile, my daughter wanted extra gravy and we were brought some without any grumbling, the price was right for the food quality and beer quality, I would highly recommend this lovely little pub, will definitely be going again

The pubs just had a revamp and its been done out pretty well, its a good atmosphere and very clean. Staff are pleasant and helpful. good size beer garden to front too. The food is good and great value for money. Will be going again in the near future.

One of the few pubs left that feels comfortable enough to have a pint in or go in for a meal. Food is very tasty, home made and is very reasonably priced. It has just been revamped as well so it is well worth a visit. A proper english pub.

A lovely little place outside of main Wakefield to have a drink. Spread over a few floors, feels very character-ful and everyone is always happy to talk. Good range of drinks on offer and in the winter months a lovely roaring fire. Sunday nights are brill due to the pub quiz, very busy but a very competitive quiz! I recommend it to everyone- we go every week!

If you enjoy suburb beer, a friendly atmosphere and an absence of TV screens, cheap draught flow lager and fruit machines, you'll enjoy The New Albion. The food is basic pub food but done well, bar staff and locals very friendly. This is a gem of a pub if you happen to be in the area.
